And now to turn around and go back the way we came doing an Onslow Saturday drive, and stopped here on the way.Tftc ??
Out with Hal2929 today visiting this area and picking up Onslow Fisherman's caches in this area. Mostly under a "rock" and in mint condition. Perfect weather. Amazing views.
I shifted my snail shell to Roxburgh yesterday for a few days to enable me to locate and sign off a few caches up in thar hills.
I There were plenty of lambs about today.
Cheers for the cache.

Took the 7m motorhome over the ford. Got the cache. Now to head back over it again. Tftc
A quick find on the way towards Styx via Lake Onslow this afternoon. Last in the series for me today, a really enjoyable drive through some spectacular country. Good weather and the tracks were all nice and dry (although pretty dusty) and easy to negotiate. Signed log, thanks for all the caches and for giving me the added excuse to come this way
Walked across the ford and legged uphill to the GZ. Only 50min and got passed by several vehicles coming and going. Found the cache at an obvious place and SL. The hide got a bit of a tidy up and box returned with cover set in place. Awesome place up here and look forward to venturing from the other end some day. TFTC
Yes this was the one to find as it needed finding!! and hiding!! Crossed the ford on foot after finding wheep!! I'm not driving the 2WD Ford through the wee bit high ford. Christened my new boots I purchased last week and took to the high road for the several km return journey on my first time up this road. Had absolutely no idea what was installed for me at the next bends and hills until I got to the GZ. Could've have walked down the GZ with my eyes closed as the cache WAS JUST LYING THERE! Lay down kicking air after the big rushed walk up hill with the weather on the turn expecting a prolonged search!! Swapped out the Auzzie penny I had only ever heard about and will keep it safe. Was surprized it was still there after finding the cache EXPOSED. SL, threw in my share of swag and grabbed the goods in PVC baggy. On returning the cache to hide, the penny dropped figuratively as to what the hide was and made sure the hint was put back in place. Spied the cutest Speckled Skink - *Oligosoma infrapunctatum* scurrying away, luvly waffle pattern and a little bigger than the striped ones we have at home. Much nicer than the ugly (sorry) alpine geckos I was to encounter back at the Roxy dam for the archived cache there. Thanks for leading me here and the cache Jim. Tick 6 of 6 on my Big OE (Onslow-fisherman Experience) to Lake Onslow.
*On return to my companion's house, multi nationals and a local guest were in residence and conversation was struck of my adventures. Appears after all the flipping rain everyone has been having since the start of Summer?!? The ford had been tit-high and there had been snow on the roads the DAY BEFORE! I was so lucky to had even got this far on my own. Will take a wery quick trip next time to grabbed the last two after my legs literally stop walking and changing gears!*

Came here en route to the serpentine church. The cicadas are very chatty today. Thanks very much.
A quick park and grab some local wildlife was playing hide and seek with the cache. While getting the cache a wee lizard was hiding under the rock by the cache. Took off very quickly once the rock and cache were moved TFTC
Found at 4:36:00 p.m. on 13/02/2015.
Heading over to the Styx via Lake Onslow - misty today but not too bad.

18.40: On the way to Lake Onslow and back to Alexandra. We couldn't solve the anagram but this was no great problem here: quick find at road side due to precise coordinates.
Weather: fine, sun, 16°C;
Wheelchair: no problem;
State: all good.
IN & OUT: nothing.
Thank you!

Getting late in the day and with rain threatening this was to be my last cache for this New Year's day excursion . The collection of rocks at GZ didn't pose a serious challenge and we were soon on our way to Paerau, grateful we were driving a 4X4, and grateful we didn't need the soap.
Cache was sharing its home with a very well fed lizard. What a breath-taking landscape. Thanks for the excuse to explore this area. TFTC
Found while camping at Lake Onslow with ' Tillylamp'. Collected Penelope K 1944 will take her travelling watch for further sightings.
Have missed out on this one on2 bike rides up here. Got it this time but by van (Toyota Hiace) as one of the bikes broke down. Great spot to view some of the hills we went over a year ago on a long ride circumnavigating all four of the high country lakes, taking in the Lamerlaw and Lammermoor ranges.
If you visit soon, take care lifting the rock as there is a very pregnant skink in residence.

Found while exploring eastward towards the Upper Taieri valley. Another chance to go hunting for skinks, thanks Onslow Fisherman.
Is it just me, or is the anagram a 'near miss'? I had a spare 'T' left after my efforts! But who cares, as long as there is a smiley reward for the visit.
(OK, it is just me - I was using 'Its' not 'Is' for the first word, sigh! Must do better.)

we turned here, a very short discussion about a as yet unfound cache 24km further on.but we decided we just are not FTF chasers. It can keep for another trip.
Man power lifted the lid on this one for me, and we saw a lizard scuttle very quickly to the back of its hole behind the cache. TFTC
Did a bit of thinking and have just solved the anagram. Ah yes, was sitting next to him yesterday!
This cache proved a little more difficult than it should have I think both granville and I wondered if it had gone for a walk given the area looks to have been excavated, but a little further searching and found it.

#700th find YAY. Got the anagram, Easy enough find if you picked the right one.
Oh yes we got the anagram OK. I am sure he will be active today with more cahllenges for us all. This was the turning point for us today as we head back to Roxburgh for some fine apricots. THTC
What a great remote area. Nice quick find right around sunset. Loved the drive in here. Cheers Gav [6658]
After making it through the ford, we were stymied by the gate at S45 31.697 E169 18.771, which is locked from the second Tuesday in June to the 30th September – see photo. Perhaps this information could be added to the cache description? We had lunch by the gate, then walked the 3.2 km to the cache, which fortunately was easily found, although Mrs W.E.K.A. crushed a finger when replacing the rock over the cache, while Mr W.E.K.A. encouraged her by exhorting her to use her muscles. We eventually solved the very nice anagram. TFTC
Removed the hint item to find a skink sitting on the cache, and not in any hurry to depart.
+ a large marble, - nothing.

FTF. Headed out from Dunedin before light and found the Old Dunstan Rd covered in thick fog. Combination of the two slowed me right down and I had visions of Bitsprayer heading out from Oamaru over Danseys Pass and beating me to it. But no. Love this area and today was no exception. Dropped in a First-to-Find Brag Coin that I picked up back in January. I know you're supposed to start a new cache for it but I just haven't got round to it. Hope the 2TF will do it.
On a day out with some fellow cachers I had the pleasure of being the first in our group to find, I now have a FTF coin that Uncle had kindly left. Certainly great first or final views at the end or beginning of a caching day.
Thanks
