Thanks for the puzzle and easy find. Raining today so yay no muggles!

02-Nov-24
Thanks for the puzzle, I solved ages ago. When I first looked at it, I thought oh this might be hard... then it suddenly clicked, great puzzle. The find was in the rain today so no one was about, Ive been to this area multiple times before but never below and that's a bit of a sight haha

Still ion good condition

Great spot for a cache, and a piece of brilliant construction. It looks scary as people use it today with modern widths but this really is cool. We enjoyed the puzzle and the cache location as well, thanks for bringing us here. Took some great photos but won't share for fear of spoiling it for future solvers. Tftc

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)…

Auckland Anniversary: We’ve escaped the atrocious weather that has smashed the top of the North Island. Hopefully things won’t be as rough down the country. We’re hoping Taranaki will have enough sunshine and blue skies for our visit…

We solved this puzzle so long ago, we never really expected to be in a position to come and find it… Our mobile coverage was patchy here. Instead of being guided by hints, we continued to search by sight. Eventually, we got a faint signal, and it was enough for us to then locate the cache. Thanks Dowmans and Windyglen. TFTP anc TFTC.

Having had a bit of a slow start to the holiday period, I finally got on the road and out of town (Wellington) and made it to New Plymouth for a few days. The plan today was to collect a number of specific caches in the area. It was a better day than yesterday in terms of finds vs not, with only one DNF, and it was another glorious day of sunshine, easy driving and wonderful bush walks.

This was one of the caches I was able to find. No trouble with the puzzle, some time ago, and the find was exactly as described. All good here in a nice spot.

Thanks to the CO for placing this geocache and bringing me here.

I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.

A very cool bridge with a very cool story! I have been to New Plymouth many times but had never been here before... that's one of the things that I love about geocaching in that it takes you to many places that you wouldn't otherwise visit. When we figured out where GZ was, we needed to take a moment to let the area clear out of muggles. A number of people had stopped also to check out the bridge. I accidentally placed my hand on some wet paint, which was clever of me... Its great to see that this structure is obviously maintained regularly. I walked completely across the bridge while being fascinated by the names that were etched into the bridge. I then went right down to the water to appreciate not only the river, but also take a look at the construction from underneath. And once the area was clear, of muggles, I found the cache quite easily and signed the log book. The cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next geo-hunter. So thank you for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. This one gets a favourite point from me! TFTC!

Found with StreetWalkerNZ on our first day in and around New Plymouth. The weather was gorgeous and there were a lot of people out and about.
Approaching the bridge from the west, we were worried that the signs meant that we couldn't cross the bridge, and we'd need to back track but all good here. Lucky our rental is a little Vitz as I'd hate to take our Subaru across. SW was given the job and made it through without any scrapes, though looking at the bollards, many cars have left paint work here!
Visiting the bridge was the highlight of the day and good to find the cache after failing at our first cache of the day. TFTC.

23-Apr-22
#20966. What a fantastic bridge! As we approached we thought there was no way our rental would fit between the bollards, but once we got there we found we had a bit of room to spare. Once across the bridge (I drove, and Troodles walked) it didn't take long to locate the cache. TFTC.

On a weekend trip to Taranaki with some of Team BOP. Always lots of fun on these trips targeting cache trails, solved puzzles and high favourites. Thanks to all the cache owners TFTC. Pretty spot Love the structure

05-Jun-21
A plan was hatched recently to hit the Naki area this long weekend. Nice to get away and grab a lot of our solved puzzles and ALs plus others along the way. Signed logs Team BoP to save room on log sheets.

I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

05-Jun-21
TeamBOP are together again for the long weekend. Philip.Perry, McJandals,NZFlossy and myself are heading to New Plymouth and surrounding areas caching. Nice bridge quick find at GZ.

05-Jun-21
Team BOP is back on the road this time heading to Taranaki with our sights set on some Labs, some geo-art & everything else in between

Our current incarnation includes Davidson Clan, NZFlossy, McJandals and myself and we’ve signed the cache logs as ‘Team BOP’ to save time and log space. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the journey as most caches have been found quickly & without fuss thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward placements.

I appreciate there’s a stigma attached to cut’n’paste logs like these so I’ll try to provide cache specific notes retrospectively when I get home. We do genuinely respect the work put into these caches, particularly some of the puzzles, but with a numbers mission like this - the hides start to blur together unfortunately. So Cheers COs, TFTC and most importantly - thanks for bringing us here

We are up in New Plymouth for a surprise 80 th birthday so today we went up to and around this area to locate a few caches here and have lunch at Tawa Glen _ quite a fav Cafe for us. We visited the two pa sites and a suspension bridge while in the area . I enjoyed the history of these pa sites and the amazing history and unique construction of the suspension bridge where we had our picnic morning tea before exploring further afield.. there was an amazing number of vehicles crossing the bridge which surprised u s
Thank you for this cache .

On the way to New Plymouth today with Nosynel and Ethness. Our goal is to find all the TMGT caches in a big figure 8 across the centre of the North Island. Do we or don't we was the question when we got to this bridge. Then we saw the local do so we did! Nellie made the find. She solved the puzzle too. Many thanks for the hide.

I solved this puzzle a very long time ago. I am on a North Island Figure of Eight tour. For the first 4 days I spend time in the Bay of Plenty with my husband JDScout in Rotorua. Now I am on part two of the eight loop going over to New Plymouth. This part is being done with my good friends Ethness and Jude_E.
Thanks Dowmans for creating this hide. It was find 9052 for me.

Teamed up with Cats&Dragons, for an overnight mission down the West Coast focusing in and around Hawera. It's been awhile since we've done a trip like this and it was great to be out finding caches again. We left Hamilton at 7pm Friday night and returned midnight Saturday, with only a few hours of sleep needed we managed 116 finds for the trip. A big thanks to all the cache owners for their placements.

Solved this puzzle years ago, but had never passed the final to complete the cache. Made sure to do so on this trip and was glad to finally make the find to complete this puzzle. Thanks for the cache.

solved with some help from friends (thanks) soon had cache in hand

28-Dec-19
TFTC another amazing spot in Taranaki, no sign of the tb though,

06-Dec-19
What a great puzzle and a stunning location for the final! I have to give this cache a favorite point for creativity and for bringing me to such a wonderful location! In addition, I got to meet two new friends - thank you Pete and Lynda for your stunning hospitality. Your kindness to a stranger is inspirational. I dropped a beautiful trackable coin that wants to travel - this is certainly what I consider a safe location (not subject to being muggled or looted). I hope this beautiful trackable continues to travel safely!

Oh my Gosh! What a NEAT puzzle!!!!! Solved it after a DOH moment and will definately put this cache on my list for my upcoming travel to New Zealand! See ya in December!!!!!

A quiet spot. The sound of the flowing water. Out for sometime on my own. Surprised at the bit of traffic through the area on a midweek afternoon. Visited with Ngawhal trackable, kept it moving on. Left a wee Aussie. Thank you for all efforts.

These westies (rebel98, rustynz and gorby) are on a caching adventure and this is our 2nd cache for the day Big Grin

Spotted this cool little puzzle, had not come across one like this before, but knew instantly what needed to be done. With a bit of manipulation, the checker said "yes"

So here we are, lovely drive, amazing final location.

Wow this is what I love about geocaching and how it brings us to these unepected places.

So pleased that we had added this hide to our find list. Thanks Dowmans for the puzzle and the hide, love it!

02-Feb-19
Another adventure for myself and rustynz and Rebel98. We have flown down from West Auckland and this is a 3 day weekend of caching in New Plymouth and later Whanganui. We have a pile of mysteries to collect and a wad of field puzzle trads too.

Solved this mystery at home, initially I looked at very quickly and went...'too hard'. But an hour later came back to it since rustynz said she had solved it easily then when I saw it, yea.... it WAS easy! Funny how that happened.

So came here and what a wonderful bridge! Took some photos too, I would love to post them here, but it might be a hint for other cachers, so I won't.

Thanks for the puzzle smoking gun.

Nice hide. Fun puzzle to solve

04-Jun-18
Out and about in the 'Naki on the last day of our 3 day weekend. As this was one of the few puzzles I'd had time to solve, collecting this became a priority! The last couple of hundred meters were an 'interesting' little drive, to say the least...

Quickly found, logged, signed and replaced. TFTC - now just time to breathe in again...

04-Jun-18
Great view. Now we just have to breathe in and drive. Many thanks for bringing us here. Favourite given. Signed Team IE.

25-May-18
We are taking a trip from Auckland to New Plymouth, and are keen to pick up a bunch of solved puzzles. This was our first puzzle stop of the day, a cache that we had previously DNF'ed. Last time we were able to drive our camper over the bridge, but now bollards are in place, which are too narrow for us to fit past. One of us stayed with the camper which was parked awkwardly, and the other walked across in the rain to make the find. The specific hint meant the cache just had to be in a certain spot, but initially I was afraid the cache was missing and we would have another DNF. But then I was able to feel it with the tips of my fingers, and was very happy to be able to sign this one off. Thanks.

This puzzle has been bugging me for years. I tried everything except what was needed. Sometimes you're just blind.
Showed it to my sister, who is very much a muggle. She looked at it for about 3 seconds then said 2 numbers. What??!! Oh duh!
Took a bit of a round about way to get to the newly calculated GZ.
Wish I could comment or post pics of the cache location. Pretty awesome, and though I lived near posted coords most of my childhood (it's on the school bus route), I don't remember ever coming here.
Legs have lumbered up enough after climbing Parititu on Tuesday morning that I could actually explore the path without any discomfort. That was a relief.
Thanks for the smilie Dowmans.

Loved puzzle, thank you ... most elegantly executed. Excellent cache location too, so many thanks for bringing us here.

As a poet I suggest you don't give up your day job, as a geocache hider well, I also suggest you don't give up your day job because while this puzzle, location and hide were excellent, I suspect there are no fully professional geocache hiders (more is the pity).

Solved the puzzle back in A-Town and now that we are here in Taranaki, this was on the list to come and visit. Very rewarding GZ to view, quiet and lovely. Quick find following the hint and all good here. Thumbs up for this cache, liked it a lot.

Solved this at Nadi airport a couple of days ago after a nudge from the CO. Was over thinking it as per usual. Great puzzle. Love this location, drive across it often for a shortcut. Thanks for placing a cache here.

27-Dec-16
Checking my phone for mysteries i had already solved but not collected and came across this one. Last time I tried to pick this one up there were a number of other people hanging around, This time it was just me.
Quick locate, and log.
Picked up coin and will move it south.
Cheers.

This is a very cleverly compiled puzzle that I was pleased to solve before a previous trip to Taranaki. I wasn't so pleased to later discover I had actually driven right past the cache site when travelling to another cache. I decided to put matters right today. Despite the accurate coordinates and helpful hint, it took me a few minutes to track down the cache. I was a bit puzzled to see no recent entries on the log so I wondered if I had found an old container. Another search revealed container number two (this has happened to me a couple of times previously). I have put both caches together where I found the newer one so maybe the cache owner can remove one at some stage. I dropped off the Guinea Gal Geocoin that I found in Upper Hutt.

We solved this puzzle over a year ago so appreciated the opportunity to find the cache today. We wouldn't have known about this spot otherwise! The cache was in great condition, thanks Windyglen for taking over the maintenance. A fave from us. Big GrinBig Grin

All looked fine so we decided to go and look for some recently solved puzzles. The cache was quickly found, and then it started to pour so we had to quickly retreat to the car. I love this spot. TFTC

27-Mar-16
Haven't solved the puzzle but I live next to the bridge - sort of found by good luck and doing maintenance in the area

16-Dec-15
I was so pleased with myself to cotton on to the puzzle pretty quickly, usually they are not my strong suite, and as I knew I would be in the vicinity this week decided to take a slight detour from my journey to collect this cache, alas, I didn't read the previous logs and I too could not locate the cache, a pity as its a great location, and I SOLVED A PUZZLE!!! anyway, don't know when I will be back and will just have to satisfy myself with a solve and not a find. Thanks anyway Smile

26-Sep-15
We solved this puzzle on the day it was published, and it has taken us over 5 years to get down here to look for the cache. We walked to GZ, looked under the hint item and found nothing.

04-Jul-15
Solved this one a long time ago so while in the area we tried to grab this. Cool location and despite a long search we had no joy, there is a lot of signs of the rain the other weekend around the site.

Finally had a chance to come and log this one successfully today. I love these old bridges. TFTC

It was time for a mission to visit some Taranaki caches especially some of the ones in the backblocks.

There were a lot of muggles here today enjoying cooling off in the river. Very interesting write-up about the bridge.

Cheers for the cache.

Day #1 of a 3 day road trip to the Taranaki.

Found on a night caching mission after dropping off gear at my accommodation in New Plymouth and quick solve.

Nearly didn't manage to find this one, I didn't search hard enough on first go! An interesting location here, I'd love to come back to check it out in the day!

Thanks!

17-Oct-14
Had 30 mins to kill at the airport, waiting for my ride with Geco72, so solved this mystery cache. Got to the location, found the hint and the tell tale rock that these things usually sit on/under/beside, but no cache was found. Fail.

15-Aug-14
Very wet logbook, suggest a check when you can.

Having solved this one for a week now, it was time to shoot out here after work to nab it. Thank you for the journey and revisit to this GZ. It was closed to all but walkers, last time I was here. Easy cache, TFTC.

13-Nov-13
Solved this puzzle earlier in the day so decided right on dusk to go and retrieve it. Began by taking the scenic route and then needing to backtrack. Then some slow farm machinery on the road to slow things down. Finally arrived at the GZ. Very interesting location. Had a quick look around and discovered the cache as described. Thanks for this interesting placement. Well worth the drive.

24-Oct-13
Checked it out and all good.

27-Sep-13
Enjoyed solving this puzzle but no luck at gz today. A pretty spot!

16-Jun-13
The puzzle had been solved a while ago, and had the coordinates saved on a scrap of paper for a suitable time. Did a spot of cache hunting on a wet Sunday and made this number two find. Nice spot, liked the swing seat. Signed log and thanks for the cache.

28-Jan-13
Am positive that I didn't solve this one, but will admit to finding it through a bit of trial and error.
Went to the school up the road, used to know the Wilson's and Well's, swam at the swimming hole nearby, lived further up the valley till we moved away.
Following on from the cache we went and visited old relations at the nearby cemetry

TFTC & the memories.

10-Jan-13
With a little nudge in the right direction we had the puzzle solved then got to come out here today. What a great spot! Well worth the effort to do this cache! TFTC.

31-Dec-12
Well it was where I thought it would be. A great spot that's great to revisit on a nice day like today. A few muggles thought so too, but we waited them out without any drama Smile TFTC.

31-Dec-12
Took a little longer than we thought to figure out the puzzle - we were over complicating it!
However figured it out and headed out to GZ today in the sun. Found replacement cache ok. Had to wait for a few muggles to vacate the area. TFTC and Happy New Year!

27-Dec-12
Did not solve the puzzle, but found as I was wanting to place a traditional here sometime back and had not retrieved my cache near the structure. TPSr intuition did the rest after a few false starts. TFTC

13-Dec-12
Another good puzzle cache. Liked the final area. SL (first on the replacement) TFTC

You are correct the cache has gone. We have put a temporary one back down for Dowmans, in the meantime.
