Great to be able to find this old cache. I was pleasantly surprised by the nearby relics and often wonder at the hidden gems you find while out caching. Thanks to the englands for maintaining this cache and hopefully it will continue on for another 23 years
TFTC -left a sticker - also, there was a lizard hiding in the cache, so that was pretty cool.
Visited with the family today. Been awhile since Ive been here. Not a lot has changed.
While in Echuca attending the Great Victorian Cache Crawl I targeted this old cache to start the day. The cache in good condition was a quick find. Thank you the englands for placing and maintaining it.
My plan for this weekend was attending most of the "The Great Victorian Cache Crawl" while collecting old geocaches, multicaches, and a tree climb for the adventure. Plus, whatever else caught our eyes as we passed.Of the old geocaches, it looks like we got...X2 2001X2 2002X2 2005X1 2006X3 2007Favourite caches of the weekend we were the 2001 caches. Not because they were old ones, but because the items at GC255F were completely unexpected, and the adventure at GC277B of walking over the flooded spillway and climbing the cliff in the rain was risky and therefore exciting. Overall, not huge numbers of caches found, but a great weekend adventure. Big thanks to Geocaching Victoria for organising the events and getting so many geocachers to attend. This was the first cache of the morning, and with the temperature gauge saying 3 am, it was pretty foggy at 6.30 am. As such, arriving while watching the trains, we got a shock seeing the huge metal battle machine looming out of the fog aiming at us. Very cool location. Thanks for the cache, the England's.Hunter
We had this golden oldie highlighted as a must grab on our way past to a farm visit today near Cohuna. A slight detour and was definitely worth it. We had discussions on our way to GZ what the things could be and we definitely werent even close! Very cool. Mrs H grabbed a few pics whilst hubby grabbed the cache. A fave from us. Cheers
Was certainly not expecting this! Came here to hopefully log a golden oldie which I did. But so curious as to why these are. Good job embi for placing a cache here and for keeping it going for so long. And for creating curiosity too. pointRegardskbucky
Thanks, it was fun. Took us a little while.Grace W, Ned W, Eliza W, Libby D, Bron W, Olivia
On the way from Swan Hill to Echuca today via a few side roads and finding quite a few caches along the way. Thanks to all th COs.
Out and about caching today while travelling from Mildura to Swan Hill. This cache being an old one - it had to be found. Arrived at GZ and in short time found cache. Signed log. TFTC
Final leg home with fitzy_1965 after heading to Adelaide for Leap Day event. We targeted old and unusual along the way.All caches found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. Thanks to all CO's.
34,498. Found with minniek during our trip to The Great Leap Forward Mega Event in Adelaide on 29th February 2024.Day 7 : After staying overnight at the Swan Hill Big4 Caravan Park, we packed up with an aim to meander our way back home via any convenient caches along the way. There were a couple on our list though which we did go for. Overall the drive home was pretty good with a wide variety of countryside observed. All caches were found without issue unless stated. This one was the next one we tried for, and it was a quick find once we were at GZ. Stamped the log, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one. Thanks the england's !! A really interesting location. Another awesome Golden Oldie ticked off.
I found this cache with The Booos during our trip to Adelaide A quick find here today TFTC
Found It!Well I wasn't expecting to find that out here! Why are they here? And why are so many of them missing their wheels?TFTC
The Booos are on a road trip to South Australia for the Mega Event. This oldie was a must do for trip we didnt it in the very early hours of the morning and made a quick find here today some interesting things nearby Thanks the england's for placing this cache.
All aboard.. the night train?? Seeing this Golden oldie on route to my next destination, I had to place it on my list. I didn't even read what it was about. Even upon seeing the relics from 100 meters away I didn't click. I promptly got out to start taking photos. I then went to GZ to find the cache and I had the ohh moment lol...l was like a kid in a new playground. I so wanted to explore both things..I say they are missing the Tram...Fav point for awesome unexpected location.
Travelling and caching with Jack and Purrfect Di. WOW ! That thing... and those things !!! Thing one and thing two were impressive indeed... Just why??? But why not ! FAV for the nice old hide and fun place. Thank you the england's for the cache hide and ongoing care and maintenance ---------------- ----------------------In a dangerous world filled with rusty old mint tins and solid lumps falling from trees - - - a cache a day keeps us agile... sort of --------Caches are logged using the resources of gsak, garmin, and androids, occasionally AI too! (And a little rubber stamp ) Work gets in the way - and some may take longer to log than others due to mixed technology and need for sleep! The skill and talent of some Zenior Zombies helps, and maybe a spot of luck too [:o)]----------Cache carefully and make sure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on Clean as you go and cache the countryside Big thanks to those placing quality caches out and about around our country areas, in nice safe places and containers especially! - it keeps our game fun for all Of course we do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, or so we've been told! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where it is I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and perhaps we can put an end to these long logs !!! Maybe not though - as someone actually did read to the end and alerted me to just a project GC badge that requires long logs [:o)] Well at least it's not as bad as finding a mint tin! Did you get that... stop putting out rusty mint tins, just stop it, now!!! C'est fini... For now... ... until tomorrow! PS:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------GCA1DNA - Great Leap Forward ... or is it backward... it takes an extra day to get to March 29.2.24 The Mega Leap Event of the year. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------And don't forget to put the June Long Weekend in your diary for 2024 too... fun and funky finds
Loved this location. So much history here (including this cache!). We loved the somethings on both sides of the road. Thank you the england's for placing and maintaining Riding the rails, going nowhere for us to find today.

A day out n about, driving the backroads hunting down the "out of the way" caches. Also on the agenda was to visit the Torrumbarry Weir for the "A Handfull of Weirs" Ad Lab.
Yep, very interesting paddock art around here. I love finding the weird n wonderful out n about.
Great to have this place on the Geo map for others to enjoy.

A quick find here surrounded by some heavy salvage from the past. I know Russia has been dusting off some old ones, perhaps we should give this old girl a bit of a clean up and send it to Ukraine.
I was driving past today on my way north to find a few caches. I didnt really have a plan for the day and decided to start off finding a newish mystery in Rochester and then see where i ended up from there. I havnt made a particularly early start so it wont be a mammoth day, nor am i targeting any particular caches or locations, so just a relaxed cruise. The sun is shining and surprisingly warm which is putting me in an even more relaxed, slow travel kind of mood. The geopooch was getting ratty at home so she is excited to be getting out and exploring once again, come to think of it, so am i, in a sleepy kind of way.

After visiting Elvis yesterday followed by the Geocaching Victoria event in Swan Hill, we stayed the night in Kerang.
Today we have a few things planned beginning here.
The carriages didn't surprise us but the tank sure did!
Ticked one more months off the Jasmer here.
Thank you to the england's (embi) for the cache.
Next stop Echuca.
My apologies for the late log.

Out for a Sunday afternoon drive along roads we haven't traveled down before, family Perpetuallylost made the most of the calm, mild weather today and also tried to find a cache or two along the way.
A surprise when we saw what was here as we turned the corner? That'd be a huge understatement!
These two items were the last things we were expecting to see and we spent a few extra minutes here after finding the cache checking them out. Would have been a big job getting them in here I would think! TFTC and the surprise things you find while geocaching!

On a road trip to the Rutherglen Mega with the JAMS crew stopping a few times to stretch our legs and grab a cache or two. [^]
Very interesting once we arrived at GZ and it's always good to find an old cache.
Thanks for the cache embi a favourite.

Travelling to the Rutherglen Mega and needed a cache in this LGA. This cache was targeted because of age, 2001. I can see why you placed a cacge here, really wasn't expecting a tank and a rail carriage in site of gz in someone's yard. quick find. We had to walk the last 300 meters because the road is closed due to flooding damage.
Found with JAMS (( JJ52, Allister w, Mogni, plus sir_spectre ) Mitchell&hound wasn't with us this trip) crew. All logs stamped as JAMS to save log space. This trip we are off to the Rutherglen Mega and then slowly coming back to S.A. for a total of 8 dys and 7 nights. The targets of this trip are for JJ52 to get 11 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and a few more Victorian LGA's, Allister W was targeting 17 virtuals ( or as many as he could get ) a few more Victorian LGA's Mogni to make the Rutherglen Mega her 20, 000 find and also for her to complete all Victoria LGA's, sir_spectre needs 1 more multi to get to 1000 multi's and get his Victoria LGS's down to 2 LGA's left. We got 20 or more finds in a LGA if we stayed in there over night. We also detoured to stamp any challenge caches that we were " in the general area off " and to complete that challenge before we came back to S.A. This meant that some times dirt road (s) had to be walked down because they were to wet to drive down and/or haven't been repaired since last years flooding. We started off the holiday in the rain and then that cleared up only to start raining and a overnight thunder storm but most of the trip was dry. Over 600 caches found for the trip including over 120 lab stages in that total. Got to complete the GPS Maze at the Rutherglen Mega for a 2nd time. Allister w was the team driver for all of the Victorian part of the trip. I think this was the first trip ever to Victoria that the extension pole didn't get used but the 6.2 meter ladder did get a work out.

Today on my epic LGA trip through VIC and SA I covered just over 1000km and around 15 LGA’s. I found this one in the pre dawn light as I headed NW. It wasn’t the trains that stood out but the tank!
Thanks the england's for the cache.

Coming home from Day 1 of 2023 Southern 80 Weekend found this little treasure. What an incredible ‘thing’ to find out in the middle of nowhere. But the Question is ‘How did it get here?’
A detour out to this one today to find this oldie, an interesting location here.
Day 2 of our trip from Adelaide to Sydney, Courtneyrose_ and I headed from Mildura to Echuca making our way along the Murray river with an event in swan hill and then checking out Echuca for the afternoon/evening.

I have been Geocaching for the last year as part of team Dromaniax. We have enjoyed the Geocaching caching around a lot of Victoria in that time. From our first trip up to the Murray River, the next trip to Lake Eildon and the area around Buxton, an epic trip to the Little Desert to attack the This is SA series, then a great trip with our father to the High Country in Victoria, a trip to the Mornington Peninsula and a trip to the Albury-Hume Reservoir area.
I finally decided to set up my own account and am claiming all the caches I have found as part of Dromaniax.
Thank you for this Traditional cache embi.

Well that was unexpected! The Welder and I decided to use the long weekend to do a road trip along the Murray and this cache was in target due to the attractive date… as we drove through the country back streets I pull out my phone and start reading the cache description out loud…. But I was then paused by the thing to the left and woah the thing to the right! Very random stuff for the middle of nowhere. A great cache location and worthy of a favourite. Thanks so much for maintaining this cache.

Very unexpected to find metro trains in the bush! Thanks for bringing us out here.
Wow this was more than we anticipated. We were out this way to collect a new car, so 2 cars between us. As we pull up Mr is impressed by the scenery on the left and I was surprised he completely missed the artillery tank in the opposite paddock. As our caching name would suggest Mr is a bit of a war history buff and it took all his self control not to jump to fence and to get a closer look.
I love the things people have in their yards. TFTC

LittleBoss2 and I had just enjoyed a couple of wet days around Cohuna, and were keen to continue our caching run on the way home today. This was one of many caches we completed that made a 90 Min trip into a 5hr trip. But that's caching for you. Our sincere thanks to all the CO's for the laughs while looking we enjoyed today.
Well, that's different, tanks for bringing us here

On our way back from spending a few days away geocaching around Cohuna. Thanks for placing the geocache
Interesting location that we never knew about even after camping on the river for awhile
#4670 This cache is close to our campsite. So after a delicious camp oven stew for dinner, we walked down to gz with the geohounds on foot. Quite amazed at the collection of large toys in the adjoining paddocks. Last thing we expected to come across on the backroads near camp was a "T Class" in a paddock! TFTC and highlighting these interesting items.
A lovely Saturday morning greeted us after a night with a fair bit of rain as we awoke right next to the mighty Murray River, and after breakfast, we set off for a day of caching. We had several target caches in mind, and we were happy to pick up whatever attracted the eye as we drove around. It is always great to find one of the older caches in the state. At the time of finding this is the 19th oldest cache in Victoria. It is fantastic that almost twenty years after being hidden it is still there for the enjoyment of geocachers. The cache is in excellent condition and the unusual mechanical devices at the scene were great to see way out here in the bush. Thank you for this cache the england's
It was rare treat to have a day of caching and exploring around Echuca with the Fam. Very interesting things here that you wouldn't expect. Nice easy find TFTC
With our next destination being Echuca for 2 nights we targeted some older caches, multis and anything else that took our fancy.
Another oldie to chase today and one well visiting. How bazaar! Looks more like a railway depot than a bush paddock The cache was located easily as we admired the tank across the road, somebody certainly is quirky.
Thanks embi for the placement and the england's for maintaining this cache.

Found today with mblt, very interesting that they're here. Even what is on the opposite side of the road. This cache was an easy find with gps pointing straight to it, however I would class this cache as a small, not a regular. Took nothing, left a metal toy car, signed logbook. Thank you for the hide
Time to head west to catch up with some geo friends and stopped in to get this cache along the way to help fill in a spot on my grid.
A cool trip down memory lane visiting this cache - awesome!
Thanks the england's for the cache.

We called in to this cache today to check on its condition. Happy to report it's in good nick and well protected from the elements.
We found this cache, as our first ever find, in Jan 2007 so we're keen to keep this cache available for its historic value.

Went for a drive to Gunbower today and this is a cache I found on the way back Well I have to admit I was a little confused in this area I had trains to left of me and a militery tank to the right. Where was the peaceful spot again. TFTC.
Stopped because it was a 2001, but what a cool spot. And as this is such an oldie, they've been here a while then! A ute of lads stopped too, stubbies and thongs and jumped the barbed, and by the squeals, electric fence for the TANK! Great cache!
Trip log... GreyHams log says it best, in all its glorious detail... so it really is, 'What he said!'
With GreyHams we set out for another chapter of our caching challenge... To find all the counties in NSW. We flew into Adelaide early Friday morning with a return plane from Melbourne Monday night. Taking advantage of some super cheap car hire driving one way from Adelaide to Melbourne. Of course, as a four day road trip it leads into collecting as many counties as was possible as we pass through SA and Victoria as well, with a few side trips for those that were close enough.
The counties a high priority but many caches of interest, the oldies are always great, about 16 2001 caches found plus many others just as old. Web Cams, virtuals, great DT which would see us complete our fifth loop of the DT grid, large caches and lots of regular sizes too. The trip list also included a cache type of each we were missing for each state as well.
Simply, if we stopped for a cache that had made it onto the list, it was not just any random cache, it was selected for a quality of some type we were seeking.
One of the harder things about caching after flying somewhere is that all the TOTT are left behind...usually! So it just had to be done and we took an esky with us on the plane for all those fabulous cold drinks along the way.
The thing I love the most is that we also took a ladder with us on the plane too!
We had targeted the 'on your bike' wherigo series, so many puzzles, so many hours of them so the ladder was important if we wanted to find all the high DT, up the tree caches... which we did! Later in Ballarat we went 'above and beyond' with the ladder once again. A truly essential item to have, we may now need to invest in that inflatable Kayak for future adventures too!
Perhaps it must be said that our route was the least direct way we could have traveled via the Hay Plains and Griffith, but covered a lot of road, counties and locations leading to yet another great trip. Although a number of park and grabs, made closer by our reliable and tough SUV, we also managed a lot of walks, hills, bush, and just a great variety as we explored the different areas.
We crossed the Murray river many times, a lovely healthy looking river system. After our recent trip from Adelaide to Sydney, via Broken Hill and Bourke the dry rivers out there are a very sad sight compared with the Murray.
With so much achieved that we had set out for it was a very successful trip but also an enjoyable one with many memories made and a new batch of stories too! Thanks to all the CO's for there caches that lead us in our travels.

This was an amazing site. I was marveling at the trains, then the drunk bogans showed up... then I saw what was on the other side of the road.... WTF!!
Generic trip log follows

Aquilus1 and myself are on a mission.... to collect all of the counties in NSW! but how to get to those 'hard to reach' ones from where we are in Canberra? It would be an awfully long round trip. The answer was supplied in the super cheap car rental deals available if you drive one-way from Adelaide to either Sydney or Melbourne... I guess too many cars do it the other way and the cars need to get back somehow. Flying to ADL on points meant fuel was by far the biggest transport cost we paid for.
This trip is actually trip number two.... to drive from ADL to MEL, via Hay & Griffith! Yeah, thats logical! It was fun explaining where we were going to people, we got a lot of strange looks. The first trip was ADL to SYD, via Bourke. The bonus of course is we have also cleaned up a lot of SA & VIC counties as well.
OK, so primary goal is counties but we of course had 5 or 6 goals. Oldies was definitely a priority, I think we picked up 16 hides from 2001 on the trip along with lots of 2002-2006's. D/T of course is never overlooked and we did well there, I think we will almost complete our fifth loop from this trip. Webcams, Virtuals and Wherigo's were all targetted and finally getting all cache types in each state.
Day 1 was us arriving in ADL at sparrows, with a ladder and esky that we checked in and driving as far as Barmera. We cleaned up the 'On Your Bike' series where the ladder really fulfilled its purpose (I never want to see another online jigsaw again!) and even stopped to grab the LBH on the way out.... after 9:30pm, and after I attacked the dirt road with my body and left a lot of skin on it. Note to self: dont lunge at dirt roads! Luckily the hotel in town was open and we obtained fine lodgings. The floor creaked when I looked at it, or breathed, or changed my mind, but the bed was the finest.
Day 2 was driving to Hay, apparently on their biggest day of the year! No motel had rooms but luckily the new hotel that was supposed to open next week was forced into opening on the very day we arrived.... I like fresh sheets but how about a bed that has never been slept in! The crossed the Murray about 5 times and it was always impressive. We saw the country side change hugely from Rivers, Mallee and the Hay plain.
Day 3 was going from Hay, around Griffith and actually turning south towards Melbourne.... it felt like a long way! We cleaned up a bunch of the counties, in fact all of them, west of and including Naranderra. My map on Project-GC is going to look so green! We got as far as the outskirts of Bendigo, stopping at the first Motel we saw.... it was better than it looked!
Day 4 was getting to the airport, which we did with heaps of time to spare. Checkin closed a huge 18 minutes after our arrival. Damn, we could have grabbed another cache in that time. Ladder back in its box and checked in. I love the fact we took our own ladder!
Now safely back at home I am already suffering from caffeine withdrawal, but thats the price you pay for living on Coke for 4 days.
Sorry for the long generic log, but it was a fun trip and I wanted to share.

Chasing older caches for a Jasmer challenge I didn't mind going a little out of my way, well, 90km out of my way for this one.
I had a fair idea what I would see on one side of the road, but what I saw on the other nearly floored me. [:o]
TFTC and the delightful surprise embi.
We took the long way home enjoying some country caching on a lazy Saturday.

Ms FV has a commitment in the area and I have taken the opportunity to get some smiley faces while having a pleasant drive around the district.

On our way to visit family at the nearby caravan park and couldn't resist making a detour to catch a cache. What a random assortment of machinery in the middle of a paddock! Made a quick find, signed the log, removed some rubbish from the container and replaced before taking some photos. thanks for bringing us to this spot.
Awesome location. Thanks for the cache those things are very interesting.
collected the travel bug and will move it on
Cache in good condition

Dropping kids off to their grandparents place and spotted this beauty around the corner! A quick park and grab and far too much time pondering the how’s and whys of this place

Hi there the england's.
We found your cache **"Riding the rails, going nowhere"** today. (This makes our find count 19286).
Today's cache run was a case of Plan "A", Plan "B". We started off caching around Echuca, but some road works prevented us from parking so we ended up traveling out to Gunbower and back. It's amazing some of the sights you see in remote(ish) places.
We found 9 caches today (DNF'd 1) & thoroughly enjoyed our cache raid. Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
***Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book is in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Great spot! Stamped or signed as 'Team Clarmensma' AKA myself, GemmaSistema, neisha07, boo09, AdamSistema & LukeSistema.
School holidays yet again and we thought we'd stay the night in Echuca. It took us about 6 hours to get there from Maryborough and about 13 to get home.
A fun trip with only minimal rain, a handful of DNF's, some previous DNF's that are now smilies and 7 cache types found over the 2 days.

Wow! So not what I thought I'd find up a few dirt roads. Very cool. Worth the detour.
Today was day 1 of a 2 day road trip with Team Clarmensma (GemmaSistema & becca85 and our 4 geokids - neisha07, AdamSistema, boo09 & LukeSistema). The Sistema crew left Ballarat picking up the 3 girls in Maryborough and we cached our way via Jarklin, Pyramid Hill, Leitchville, Gunbower, Torrumbarry and Moama before finally arriving and staying the night in Echuca. We had plenty of finds, a few DNFs and heaps of laughter and fun as we cached along back roads, through tiny towns, around amazing lagoons and across rivers with stunning scenery wherever we went. Thanks so much for putting this cache out for us to find and enjoy. We really appreciate it.

Haven’t done a cache is ages and while sitting on the river thought I’d take a look. Thanks for a great find!
This is a great spot to visit. We would never have known
this place existed if we were not geocaching. Do not miss
this very interesting area. Found the cache, signed the log
and replaced as found for the next finder.
Thanks embi

What a cool spot!! Travelled from SA for the Mega with my non-Geocaching teenaged friend. It was a surprise for him as he loves trains and trams. Today we travelled from Echuca to Mildura completing the whole Murray Valley Highway.
We initially drove past the turn, but when I saw the name of the town we did a u turn. Glad we did. Had a visit from a local but he gave us a bit of space luckily. Cheers and thanks for the smiley.

Suscoe had a big day out to the north west of Echuca today.
Clear skies, beaut weather, a warm sun and caching, what could be better!!!
We enjoyed wandering the roads and little towns as we went.
Thanks to embi for bringing us here.
What an amazing sight.
All good at GZ today.

Geocaching takes you to some really unusual places. Like this one! Who'd have thought!

I made a special trip to this one as it is such an oldie and when I got here I was surprised to see the old machinery as well, well worth the trip.
Another weekend and another road trip, this time I was headed to Echuca to attend the next lead up event for the Alexandra Mega.
A long the way a had a few missions to complete and of course there are a lot of other caches to be found, this being a one of these said caches.
**Thanks to the england's for placing this cache.**

Frmen1 and I are enjoying a leisurely drive in the area. Whatever I was expecting, it wasn't these! How fabulous, how eccentric! A fav pt as without geocaching & the CO, we would never have seen this.TFTC
