I still had no idea what road would lead me to Masterton, and I could see that most of the roads had caches waiting to be found. Now, if I had come with HS, she would have mapped exactly what caches we would look for. She would know exactly where we were. But sometimes I like spontaneity and surprise. Log retrieved, signed and replaced as found. Tftc.
This is such an interesting area. We were staying a few kms away for a few days, so exploring the area. TFTC
On a geocaching trip into Skindoland with TwigNZ. A fast find thanks to the hint. The logbook was very soggy so added a new strip of waterproof log paper. Enjoying our country drive, thanks for this smiley Skindo.
Free weekend so headed down to the Wairarapa for some caching. Enjoying the back country route and collecting a few Skindo caches to add to the 350 I have already. No problems finding the cache. Log was wet but still managed to sign. Still winter but nice to see signs of spring with daffodils and lambs around. Thanks Skindo for the smiley.
Found with B on skindo-hunting day. I drive, he navigates and writes the logs - check his entry for details. TFTC!
Back in June of this year I got a huge Geocaching fright! Having spent quite some time attempting to solve as many Skindo Puzzle Caches in the Wairarapa as I could so I could spend more time over there exploring the country, I discovered that large numbers had been archived. Worse still, there was some talk on various forums as to whether someone should go around and collect them up rather than leave them in place to still be discovered.
So I have been itching for a chance to get over to the Wairarapa and try to find as many as I could before they disappear forever, and with Spring here and Daylight Saving having now kicked in, Stardust 718 and I teamed up to go and explore some of the northern half of the region. There would still be a lot of ground to cover (I drove about 350km today) and the weather wasn't being the most helpful to us, but we figured it would still be worth it as there would be quite a few other caches to find along the way too.
This particular cache was a relatively quick and easy find at GZ, which was great as we really wanted to push on and get as many caches found today as possible. The log was quickly signed with both our names and then it was back to the car to dash off to the next one.
Thank you for having placed all these caches in the first place, and for keeping as many as possible going.

#7 of 47 today
I was out exploring the Wairarapa with TwigNZ today between wind, rain and sunshine. We explored some lovely countryside on the back roads, talked with a couple of farmers while searching for caches, and had a great day arriving home 10 hours later cold and tired.
A relatively quick and straight forward find here. Signed log and carried on our way.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)...
We have been planning for Queen's Birthday weekend for some time - routes and caches were identified and mapped, and Gap solved a whole lot of puzzles in readiness for this adventure. We scoured many online logs and took note of the condition of the caches and their logbooks. We determined to replace any containers and logbooks where there was a dire need - This is not usually our habit and is quite time consuming; but we are enthusiastic cachers and believe in doing our bit for the wider caching community...
After a couple of days worth of rain, today looked way more settled - A fine day to be travelling home. We quickly spotted the snow covered ranges to the west - no wonder it’s been chilly these past few days... The view and today’s big, blue sky would make for a photographic backdrop as we cruised homeward. We lined up a few caches to visit. A quick breakfast in town, and then we were on our way, travelling back up the country... This hall felt uncomfortably close to the road. A quick find, though not where we expected it to be. Thanks Skindo and TFTC.

Day 3 of our road trip and today Rotorua bound.
We decided to collect a few caches around Masterton then head North.
First cache was a goody and gets a fav from us.
Collected a few multi's, puzzles and traditional caches on our travels.
Up and down side roads with some great history to be viewed.
We replaced wet log sheets as we went.
Thanks to cache owners for the placement of these caches.
We will be back again as our efforts this weekend has only scratched the surface of caches to be found. SLTFTC

Today's plan is to sign off solved puzzles mainly to the west of SH2 a d Eketahuna along with most of the trads inbetween.
I apologise to all the COs for the generic logs as I signed off quite a few caches today.
Cheers for the cache.

Well here we are now heading in the opposite direction of the plan ater not spotting a side road earlier on. I've lost count ( if I ever was counting them) of the number of these country halls I've visited over the years on my caching adventures. They sure would have some stories to tell. TFTC # 12,787
#4944. I have had a full on week at work - full of meetings and briefings, reviewing documents as well as chairing another meeting all day Saturday. Of course Wellington was having its hottest and driest spell of weather on record while I was deskbound. So was hanging out for a geocaching expedition today. I love caching in the Wairarapa so decided it was time for another full day visit. It was cloudy and warm over here and mostly dry all day. Managed to get 53 caches found on my ambitious list of 80 with just 4 DNF's. I guess it can be busy here at times but today it was a ghost town. Quick find of the cache. Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache skindo.
Found as part of Team ICE (Infoferret, Zissas & EthNZ) on a cache gathering mission around the Northern Waiarapa.
Another well kept country hall. And a lovely playground for children as well.TFTC

Today was the travel day - first to attend the Canadian day at Eke..and to locate a few caches around that area or on the way that we didn't have. This was a very interesting cache as it had its own Stash!!!!of a carton of a dozen unopened beer bottles-some guys private stash when over at a do at the hall maybe-.We did relieve the stash of one bottle each! but PJmacNZ soon had it hand and it was signed and replaced. Thank you for this cache and another smiley face.
I took photos of the stash and the lovely little Library that was there. THe history of this building would be very interesting!

In the area to attend the event and to gather caches as well.Soon found this cache and found a stash of beers as well...definitely a geocaching first for me!A team effort with haydn.seek.TFTC!
Found on an evening Geocaching drive. Mr 3Prettys made the find while Miss 3Prettys waited in the car with her soaked shoe from the previous find.
Everything in the container was soaked; we signed a bit of paper and left that as our log. We will message the CO.

There were muggles at the hall on my first pass. Went up the road and found another cache and when I returned, they had departed. Easy find. TFTC
A nice quick find thanks to the hint. What a well cared for community hall.

One of many great caches found with Envy-Us and Waiiti20 on a 100 plus find caching day in the Wairarapa. Many thanks to the CO's for the cache placements, the many puzzle caches we found, the great journey we had around the many back country roads, and the many interesting places we visited. Sorry for the generic type log. TFTC.
An enjoyable day in the North Western Wairarapa with Waiiti20 and drawp. A generic log due to the many finds, but our thanks to those who have placed caches in this scenic area - both roadside and in the Tararua Forest Park. We enjoyed some fun finds and a few lonely caches but most of all an excuse to drive (on almost every road thanks skindo) through this part of the country. TFTC
Exploring the back country in my namesake territory. Nothing could be better, and on a gloriously fine spring day too. All very pleasant.
Stopped here and enjoyed a bite of lunch. None too busy round here on a Monday.
Cache in order, log signed; re-hidden safely, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

#4937. No one was around in the hall today. Quick find. The logbook inside the plastic bag was rather damp, but the rest of the contents were quite dry. TNLNSL. TFTC.
A MEGA Adventure
Both Nova Lightning and myself had set ourselves caching targets that we were hoping to meet in time for the NZMEGA in a few weeks. So with a plan in progress and fuel in the tank away we set.
Departed home at 6pm Friday, returned home 3.30pm Monday, 7 hours sleep approx 470 caches and a great adventure.
Thanks to all those that have placed caches especially Skindo as I think we gave his caches a bit of a nudge
Thanks for a great weekend of Caching and Bull.

Mega Weekend
It all started about a month ago when Cats&Dragons brought up the idea of heading down the line to collect 350+ caches. We both had targets that we wanted to meet before attending the NZ Mega. Plans and locations were drawn up and puzzles were begun to be solved. It took me a while to get my head around a few of the puzzles and with the help of a cacher I was soon on a roll.
The weekend finally came and we departed Hamilton at 6pm on a Friday night. 3days, 2,000km, & 11hrs sleep, later 472 caches collected. Thanks to all those who's caches I found especially Skindo with a huge number laid.

We made a brief stop at Nireaha and made another quick find to add to our tally for the day. Thanks.
The cache find was very easy but I got a bit of a shock as I departed because I had to give way to a vehicle. I don't think I had see a moving one for hours.
Quick find, on another big day in Wairarapa. Log book soaking wet, I signed it. Thanks for the cache.
A quick find on a day's expedition to clean up unfound caches in the area.. I had no idea that there were so many of these old halls in the region! Signed log, TFTC!
quick find with The Seagnoid, accompanied by a running commentary from 8Y.O. nephew about how his school bus stops at this hall.
close to our accommodation stayed in the old Nireaha school perfect spot for staying while caching this area. http://www.tararuacountryretreat.co.nz/ Thanks for the cache

Decided to come back over to the Wairarapa and do a few caches west of Eketahuna, as I had a few hours free and decided that it was best to used them to try and pick up a few new caches that were published last night. Not knowing what this area was like as I haven't being in this area before I decided to put aside half a day. Arriving at this hall it really didnt take too long to figure out where this cache was hidden. Found the cache quickly and was able to sign it at GZ and hid it back in its hiding spot before climbing back out to head to the next cache, thanks for bringing me to another hall in the Wairarapa and for placing a cache here, TFTC TNLNSL (3902)
Find #733. We aren't quite sure how we managed to skip through Eketahuna without picking up the four remaining caches in the township first before grabbing this one, but it worked out in the end.
We took Nireaha Road to reach this cache (mainly due to its road seal) although we think it is definitely possible to take the shorter gravel Quarry Road route directly to the cache.
An easy find in a good location away from the hall. Our third for the day of eight, and Skindo #101 for us. SL TFTC.

Another Skindo hall cache, apart from country music listening sessions I wonder what they get used for nowadays?
Our 56th Skindo cache.

A quick find but we were wary of the people in hall who sounded as if they were moving furniture about. TFTC
'Trusty' old auto-routing took me north of Eketahuna then up Cliff and Quarry roads to this one, a very interesting drive it was too.
Returned via a more regular road.

Came via Hukanui, which probably wasn't the best route, but there was a nice gravel road along the way.
