Had to travel from Palmy to Masterton this evening for work. Great to see some caches on that we’re not too much of a detour. This cache has been on my radar for years. Ores it’s been replaced again so pleased to finally be able to tick it off. Cache and log all fine. Thanks Skindo for the smiley.
#11,913. I am heading up to Hawkes Bay for a short work trip next week but decided to drive up in my own car over the weekend so I could indulge in some geocaching on the way. I tried and failed to find this one back in 2019. I see it has been replaced twice since that visit. No sign of the berocca tube today but the coffee jar was still there. Not in too bad a state this time. Signed the log and replaced the cache exactly as found. Thanks skindo for hiding it here and others for keeping it going after skindo dropped out of the game.
It's now Saturday, day 2 of the Watcache Pahiatua weekend gathering of caching, eating (far too much), drinking (one of the rare occasions), and generally having a great time catching up with friends and meeting a few new people too.
The main event of the day had been and gone, and many of us were now back at Carnival Park basking in the warmth of the good weather and excellent day so far. Then 5 new caches got unexpectedly released. I jumped into my car and was soon mobile accompanied by Etherlord, Ethergirl and deltatea. Having secured two of the available FTF's, we then turned our attention to other caches in the locale including this one.
We made straight for the posted co-ords and the obvious Hint object, but found no cache there. Casting his eyes about, Etherlord spotted a similar Hint object some 10-12m away and sure enough found a container although it was not the original but rather the throwdown from Kiwi Adventurer. I'm not a huge fan of glass being used as containers, and to top it all the log was soaked as the bag hadn't been sealed properly. But I had a sheet of waterproof paper in the car so we replaced the sodden log, adding our names to it first..
Thanks for setting up this cache.

Found while on a FtF hunt.
This cache was a little further down the road and we took the opportunity to tick off another country hall cache.
We quickly found Kiwi_Adventurer's coffee jar replacement container, and just as quickly tipped put almost a full jar of water
The bag had not been sealed properly and so the log paper was sodden as well.
We drained and dried it out as much as possible, and replaced the slimy paper with waterproof paper instead.

Found this out with The Seagnoid and Itchyfeet2020. Nice quick find. All good, tftc!
After successfully bagging joint FTFs we detoured to log this cache. Not at the given coordinates . Follow the hint. Tftc
Out for a fun afternoon of caching with matagouri and The Seagnoid and Ethermiss. TFTC.
I was staying with friends just up the road who got married in this hall about a year ago. Noticed the recent DNF and checked the area. Was unable to locate cache so replaced with a new one. A bunny had a decent hole at GZ so partially filled that with rocks and placed a Nestle coffee jar wrapped in tape that’s labelled according so hopefully it’s not removed anytime soon. Showed one of the locals where it was if some attention is needed in the future.
Had a wet search under the only 2 options then left a Berocca under hint object — it lives for another day! Our last joint skindo before heading tiredly for home.
Found at the end of a long hard day's driving around the backblocks of the Wairarapa with BFG. It's starting to rain, and I'm getting hungry... TFTC Skindo.
DNF. Ditto the last two entries. Didn’t have a replacement cache. Due to live service area we didn’t get to read previous logs till we got here and service came back in.
Pretty sure this one has gone AWOL. That is two DNF's in a row. There were only two braces within 10m of the coordinates and neither of them held a cache. The one closest to the coordinates has really no place at all to hide a caches as the ground is completely open under and around the brace. The other one has a nice grass cover and would be suitable. If I had another container on me I would have dropped off a replacement but I was out of caches. Next person should give it a good look and consider replacing otherwise this one will be archived which would be a shame as I enjoy finding skindo halls.

A quiet day geocaching with only two finds. A nice country drive after our lunch. Easily found. The parking area is quite muddy today! TFTC.
I was sent to Wellington for work on Friday and as it was Friday decided to take the weekend to drive home to Auckland.

This was my first visit to these parts and I was very surprised to see the impressive bridge on the way. I had a look at the monument across the road from the cache; so sad to see so many used to die at a very young ago in the early days. I was puzzled by its placement; which was here first? The monument or the gate; either way, the gate is now pretty ineffective.
Wbond1116 and Wbond-Jnr went on another day trip to Wairarapa to try to get 100 caches. It rained most of the day
The great news is that we got 101 !!!
Many of these were care of GeocahersInNZ infamous 60 between Eketahuna and Pahiatua. Thanks for this series - we are each giving a Favourite for the first and last in the series to say thanks! Long may this series continue. A number of the logs had become paper mache, so we replaced these for you.
Several others care of Skindo, Wascox and Yeetrees - thanks also for the caches you place out for our enjoyment.
Some of the caches we logged with both our names, however to save your logs we simply placed "Wbond x 2" on many. We trust this is ok.

Out on a day caching trip to the Wairarapa doing a cache trail along a back-road between Eketahuna and Pahiatua. The wind blew and the rain fell in sudden near-horizontal downpours, not exactly the weather we were hoping for.
A quick find at GZ in the expected place, although we didn't realise that the container had been changed until logging the find... Thanks skindo.

Finding caches on way to catch ferry sometime this week. Found most of them between or in showers.TFTC
thanks for the caches on our road trip ,taking the long way home today. was two heilcopters here today
A really enjoyable day with a few finds bewteen Palmerston North and Piahatua to get to the start line of the power trail to Eketahuna. Mannaged to find them all, ticking off 89 caches in about 5 hours. Thanks for the placements, certainly bigger caches than on many power trails I've seen.
Completed a "100 in 24hours" mission on the various road between Pahiatua and Eketahuna with Tommygun9 and Stardust 718. TFTC
So happy to get exactly 100 in February that, along with AtomsNZ and Stardust 718, I went out to get exactly 100 in just one day! 100% find rate too!
Great drive around the Wairarapa on a beautiful day.
Great drive around the Wairarapa on a beautiful day.
8 of 100 for today around the back of Pahiatua and Eketahuna. I set off early with tommygun9 and AtomsNZ to achieve our record number of finds in a day (previous records were in the 20's) and start to make a small dent in all the Wairarapa caches. So pleased to find every single cache we looked for.
Found while out for a late afternoon raid on the Wairarappa with the Mangaone Valley power trail as my primary objective. Not the best of days to be out weather-wise but it was nice to check out a few more of the back roads.
A quick and easy find. I have lost count of how many of these nice old community halls I have visited compliments of skindo.

#7163. Took a short detour off the Mangone Valley trail to find a classic skindo hall cache. TFTC.
A trip in skindoland is not complete without finding a hall cache . We are always happy to add another to our tally. TFTC.
Headed out on the first flight to Wellington Saturday morning with FMZ and Lostcourse. Relocating a vehicle back to Auckland meant we had a big caching road trip ahead of us...! We headed back through the Wairarapa towards Napier, clocking up the numbers through skindo land. Sorry for the copy/paste log as its now all abit of a blur having cached for 36 hours with only a few short naps in between. Enjoyed the drive through these rough and winding gravel roads and saw alot of interesting sights.
36 hours, 1,200km, & 315 finds made for an epic adventure! Many thanks for the cache and the perfect excuse to make a weekend of it!

Headed down to Wellington for a fly-down-drive-back-caching weekend with mike-miss and Lostcourse - basically a caching binge drive back to Auckland, caching under the moniker "Team F.M.L." We headed out of Wellington as quickly as possible to get some serious caching done in the Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay before heading back to Auckland. Apologies for the copy/paste log, but we found >310 caches in 36 hours and for many it's hard to remember specific details. We headed through a bunch of interesting winding back roads and saw a lot of beautiful sights and historic spots. We shared the driving and stopped for about an hour to catch some shut eye in Pongaroa before continuing, caching all the way. Saturday was my biggest caching day ever, and this Feb, after just the first 36 hours, is already my biggest month ever. TFTC!!!
Took the first flight down to Wellington on Saturday for a fly-down-drive-back-caching weekend with mike-miss and FMZ - basically a caching raid across the North Island.Team FML! for the win! We headed out of Wellington making a beeline for the Wairarapa and Hawkes Bay before venturing back to Auckland. We headed through a bunch of interesting winding back roads and saw a lot of beautiful sights and historic spots that only geocaching could have bought us too. We shared the duties around and took a few micro naps when ever prudent. Saturday was my biggest caching day ever, and this February, is easily my biggest month ever. Another skindo hide at a hall in the Wairarapa. Not that I am complaining Cheers for the cache placement!
Day 2 of our weekend out caching. First time ive been down in the wairarapa area, got around 100 over 2 days, thanks Skindo.
Quick find whilst heading north on a blustery caching day, busy road for middle of nowhere on a no exit road TFTC.
Kaitawa, the scene of many a social upheaval and this, the hall, the scene of many of those. Picture it if you can.
Straightforward find….
Cache in order; log signed, cache safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too

A MEGA Adventure
Both Nova Lightning and myself had set ourselves caching targets that we were hoping to meet in time for the NZMEGA in a few weeks. So with a plan in progress and fuel in the tank away we set.
Departed home at 6pm Friday, returned home 3.30pm Monday, 7 hours sleep approx 470 caches and a great adventure.
Thanks to all those that have placed caches especially Skindo as I think we gave his caches a bit of a nudge
Thanks for a great weekend of Caching and Bull.

Mega Weekend
It all started about a month ago when Cats&Dragons brought up the idea of heading down the line to collect 350+ caches. We both had targets that we wanted to meet before attending the NZ Mega. Plans and locations were drawn up and puzzles were begun to be solved. It took me a while to get my head around a few of the puzzles and with the help of a cacher I was soon on a roll.
The weekend finally came and we departed Hamilton at 6pm on a Friday night. 3days, 2,000km, & 11hrs sleep, later 472 caches collected. Thanks to all those who's caches I found especially Skindo with a huge number laid.

After finding GC2B56J - Kaitawa Bridge (Wairarapa), I checked my list to see what was the next cache that I had on it to do and soon realised that this cache was not too far away, decided to check the cache description and make sure that I knew what I was looking for before I got to GZ.
Making my way to GZ was quicker than I thought that it would take and I was near GZ before I knew, was glad that there was plenty of parking in front of GZ and there wasnt any muggles around except the 4 legged ones that were in the paddock next to the hall.
Spotted a likely spot as to where I thought the cache could be and as I was walking to GZ the 4 legged muggles started mooing their way towards me, was glad that the cache was easy to retrieve as the 4 legged muggles were within arm reach. Managed to find the cache in the first spot that I looked, signed and returned as found. What a nice little township, would not have come here if it was not for caching, thanks for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this lovely spot, TFTC TNLNSL (4867)

A quick find on a day's expedition with Yeetrees to clean up some unfound caches in the region. Signed log, TFTC.
Nice to get a smiley on this one after being unable to find it last year. Found cache out in the open so tucked it away as per hint. TFTC
Found a typical skindo cache here, but also found a 200ml sistema container pressed into the mud almost buried maybe 400mm away. So I guess the missing cache wasn't missing at all (see 4 logs back). However the one at Kaitawa bridge is missing after some bridge repainting, so I moved this container there.
We added the Kaitawa Hall to our growing list of Wairarapa halls we have found caches at this trip. The farmer sped up on his motorbike to 'check his stock' in the paddock opposite. We think he was really checking on us! TFTC.

The clue seemed obvious - had a good search around clue object but could not find the cache. Hope it hasn't gone missing.
Oh NO!!!! I now know that I am definitely "BLIND" looked for this one in the obvious spots and checked around to make sure that I didn't miss anything, BUT find the cache I could not. May need to be checked.
Found today with my Son on a caching trip East of Palmerston North. 14th of 14 finds. Quick find but cache had some water in it and trade items were wet. Log was damp but still ok to sign. Wiped container and trade items clean to remove moisture then replaced. Not sure how water is getting in but may need a better container. Signed log an left signature trade item. TFTC.
A lovely day, but the container was full of water. We emptied and dried it as much as possible. The log was a little damp - not too bad. TNLN TFTC
Thought we might have to wait a while as the farmer was moving his cows through but he was quicker than we expected. He probably wondered what we were doing there! NINO TFTC
Cache had suffered a bit from the recent flooding. Was half full of water - but log is ok. Dried out as well as I could, SL TFTC
a quick stop in a quiet place although a few fast cars on the country road had me trying to hide what I was doing.
A quick find in the dark with edvern after a FTF just down the road a wee way.

After claiming a FTF with nzcoozer and W.E.K.A. at the nearby bridge, we carried on to this one. The cows in the adjacent paddock seemed surprised and interested in our nocturnal visit.
A side trip to grab this one. great bridge, very wet at the Hall today, mud mud glorious mud!!! TNLN SL 1025hr TFTC
Really enjoyed coming out here and seeing some heartland NZ backroads. Interesting monumnet across the road but I'm not sure about the lime green house and milking shed you have to drive past. Loved the old bridge too! TFTC
Had to trust the GPS. There aren't any signs to suggest a town! Nice sunday drive though.

This one popped up just as we were leaving home, but were sure if we would have enough time to get, but was still light and not that far. Wow we got a FTF at approx 5.17pm, loved the bridge.
