On our explore of the coastline from where we were staying in Edithburgh, we were lucky enough to book a pet friendly house that even had a lemon tree! What a great beach, we thought we wee spoilt with our sandy beaches at home but this is such a huge beach, no wonder the real estate is so expensive here.We did the bush bash to find the cache and scrawled Kc on the log, the pen was failing us and we didnt want to explore through here again. Thanks Ciril for the cache. Found, signed and replaced.

JJ52 and Allister W were target some certain cache types for the hard sounvier online bage. After Finishing the fishing line geoart we cached along the coast to Edithburgh and still only got to Edithburgh for dinner. Saturday was a cooler day for power trailing and only 1 snake was sighted, sunday started off cold but soon turned in to nice caching weather. We stopped for lunch in Stansbury on the way home.

The three of us were spending some time on Yorke Peninsula, and today Mr Tardis went out for a caching run in the southern half. I did a section of the Gone Fishing trail, and found lots of old and new caches on the way there and back.

I found this cache after a short search. So many great views of the sea around this part of the Yorke.

Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Ciril.

Our 3rd days break in Edithburgh away from the rat race. A few scratches later after finding an appropriate approach the prize was spotted. Now to fight off the ants that had made the container home. Emptied and replaced as found. Now to spend a while admiring the view. Thank you for the placement of the The View cache Ciril find number 8580 on 3 November 2021 at 12:41 pm

13-Jul-21
Last day on the Yorke and Owl had a mission in mind. With that over they headed down the coast, admiring the views as they went. At this point Eagle wanted to get some drone shots, which gave Owl plenty of time to find this cache. Took a while to find the correct approach and then finding the cache was more luck than skill.

This weekend, I headed to the Yorke Peninsula. The goal was to visit Innes National Park for the Saturday to find a few of the oldie geocaches, but also to enjoy a different vicinity for geocaching. I used Edithburgh to base myself for the weekend's activities. On the drive to/from Edithburgh, I visited Ardrossan, Port Vincent, Wool Bay, and Coobowie, and also visited as far south as Sultana Point and Troubridge Point.

Today, I took the long route home back to Adelaide from Edithburgh, but did multiple detours along the way. I initially headed south to Sultana Point, followed by Troubridge Point; Two areas that I hadn't visited in all of my historical Coobowie Yorke Peninsula trips. I then drove north following the coastal route, stopping off in Coobowie, Wool Bay, and Port Vincent. A highlight was visiting the white clay mine just north of Stansbury, and it was a nice walk along the beach to get to.

To begin my day, I made the drive south from Edithburgh to Sultana Point, and drove all the way to the end of this road, parking at the nearby car park. I then walked across the dunes ridge to this location, and after searching for a short amount of time, I managed to make this find. Not the best of views in this little valley, but the beach was certainly picturesque from higher up on the ridge. I'm also not sure if walking through these dunes are the best, given the fragility of this environment, hence I would recommend the movement of this position to somewhere else closer to the track? The cache container was in reasonable but fragile condition, and the old logbook was quite damp. There is a small new logbook that has been placed in the container too. Thanks Ciril for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

We have a small team travelling to The Yorke Peninsula from Canberra. It was decided by the group before we left that our team name would be DTY, although I act like the boss, I rarely am and so the initials actually stand for - dty73, Tankengine & Youban.

Today was the last day on the Peninsula before we head hone tomorrow. So the team decided that it was a “tourist day” and we would go have a look down the coast a bit. But of course like true geocachers we couldn’t help taking a caching route as we went. We ended up getting a lot more than we expected, but we did have a good time.

A straightforward find, but the log was a little damp. There were a number of views from here. The windmills were visible and the daisies and wildflowers were nice too. Tftc Ciril!!!

Found with dty73 and youban on our Yorke Peninsula invasion! All logs signed DTY (dty73/Tankengine/youban). - Had a great day today, in that we didn't do any of the power trails! That was a very nice change! So a nice variety and some very nice locations! Thanks!

As this is a generic log comments relevant to this cache will be placed at the end. On a caching trip with Dty73 & Tankengine to Yorke Peninsula. Team signed as DTY. Thank you all the cache owners who have put so much effort in placing and maintaining these caches. Our last day on the peninsula so we decided that we would explore the area around Edithburgh. The weather had turned chilly and the odd spit of rain came and went. Very damp log. Kutgw

After having arrived in Edithburgh this morning on our trip round the Yorke Peninsula we thought we would brave the wind and head out for a look around.
We gave up walking fairly early in the piece and resorted to travelling by car as we pick up a few caches on the way.
Down to Sultana Point, but it was a bit too windy to really appreciate the view.
Found after a bit of a wander through the scrub.

The Rats, steeba and Hoojar have teamed up for a York Peninsula adventure of massive proportion. With much planning and logistical coordinating, we had a great five days meandering the country roads collecting a plethora of caches. Our journey started with a handful letterbox caches before heading down the peninsula following the “Gone Fishn” series. We followed this up with an array of geo-art images that litter the lower peninsula. Returning to Adelaide we collected a gaggle of old and rare finds which included some interesting earthcaches and virtuals.

My apologises for the generic log, but thanks to all the cache owners and caching buddies who made the road-trip such a memorable and fun experience. Smile

09-Sep-18
After a review of the geocaching map in South Australia it was determined a trip to the Yorke Peninsula would yield some significant numbers. So, The Rats, Hoojar and I teamed up once agan to tackle the many caches on the peninsula.

We started in the darkness after flying into Adelaide and the next day set some personal records (550+ caches in a day) and milestones before bunking down. The next day was another massive numbers haul which resulted in a bit over 1,000 caches in two days Surprised!

Then it was a little more sedate down to the bottom of the peninsula and then back up the easterly side, ticking off a few EarthCaches in the process Big Grin.

After that, back to Adelaide for some night caching, virtuals and more EarthCaches!

The power trails on the peninsula were great- quiet roads, some great green wheat and yellow canola scenery, coupled with some great company and usual ribbing of each other [^]!

Thanks for your cache- sorry about the generic log. For the EarthCaches and virtuals look out for an email or two shortly.

TFTC!

This was a trip that had been some time in the making. A journey from Wollongong in New South Wales to the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, in search of large numbers. Five days were set aside, and The Rats, Steeba, and myself planned the details out. Lofty numbers were floated; we could find one thousand geocahces... Maybe more! The world was our oyster, all we had to do was make it happen.

We flew into Adelaide and quickly rented our car, then headed off for a series of thirty letterbox caches late that night. We then set up camp, ready for the next few days.

Two days journeying down the Yorke Peninsular saw us collect 550 caches the first day, and 450 the next. One thousand caches in two days! The numbers were phenomenal, unheard of, and excellent! At one stage we found fifty caches in a one hour period! We worked ourselves into a solid routine, and managed to push these numbers without caching after dark. Incredible! We camped out beside the trail, ready to commence again the following morning.

Having reached our goal of one thousand, we rented a cabin and enjoyed a solid relax and beet, and we were then able to dedicate the remaining time to specific caches, mostly Earthcaches to keep Steeba (The Professor) happy, and a good number of Vrtuals as well, as we made our way back from the end of the Yorke Peninsular to Adelaide. It really became a Tour De Earthcache! If your geocache is such a hide, stand-by, as Steeba will soon contact you with our answers.

As is always the case with these trips, the company was the highlight, with banter non stop, the time went by in an instant.

We saw some amazing things, found some excellent caches, and had an absolute blast.

Ticking just over 1300 finds for the trip, you will have to excuse the boilerplate logs!

Thanks to all of the cache hiders for their efforts in placing and maintaining their hides. It was fantastic exploring this part of the world that I had never visited before. Thanks also to my geocaching partners, without whom such a trip would not be possible, nor fun!

Cheers

We have commenced Part 2 of our holiday. Part 1 was Easter at Morisset and we came home to sort out some family business. Now we are heading to South Australia instead.

We have spent the last 2 nights at Lake Bonney and today we are heading to Edithburgh for some snorkeling and fishing. After setting up camp we headed off for a small drive before tea.

Unfortunately the container shattered so we have replaced it with a small black container until you can replace it.

Australia Day long weekend and we have travelled to Stansbury to celebrate our 5th Anniversary of Caching. Out early today to beat the heat and get back to town for the Geo Event. Had a quick look around the monthly Market that was on in town and then headed off caching. after a nice walk in the dunes, we found this one. The contents are currently dry but the container has a couple of holes in it where it has perished. Needs a bit of TLC. TFTC
