Looking at my stats after finally getting a smiley on that pesky day of the year, I dithered over which challenges to concentrate on next, and realized a bunch of hidden months from the early days were covered by hides not too far out of Ballarat. In Victoria, I can potentially tick off twelve of the twenty blank months in the chart, and nine of those are within striking distance... I think we have a winner.
Well, today, I've managed to cross two of those off my list: the first in Enfield State Forest, and the second atop Mt. Gorrin just before sunset. Whew! What a trek that was... but well worth it for the view and the smiley.
I spotted this one on my GPSr as I approached the Miners Rest turnoff, so exited and followed the compass to GZ for a quick find by torchlight. It's only now, days later, that I have realized the cache has been archived. I must remember to update my Garmin more often... meanwhile, a smiley is a smiley.
Thanks, luttrellfive.

I cannot see any information that suggests to me that steps have been taken to resolve the issue/s associated with this placement - one or more of the following applies:
- Cache Owner unable to maintain cache
- No response from the cache owner.
- No cache to find or log to sign.
- It has been more than 28 days since the last owner note.
- Cache has been abandoned by cache owner/cache in disrepair
As a result I am archiving this cache to keep from continually showing up in search lists and to also prevent it from blocking other cache placements.
If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the next 28 days, just contact a reviewer (by email and include GC number in cache name) and, assuming it still meets the current guidelines, the reviewer will be happy to unarchive it.
If there are components or remnants of the cache and you haven't already done so, please return to the GZ and collect the cache (or remnants). We don't want to litter our environment with Geotrash.
Should you wish to replace the cache after 28 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

[navy]I notice from one or more recent log entries that this cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. Prompt attention by cache owners to any log that indicates anything could be amiss will be greatly appreciated by all seekers. The guideline advises; "if you can't check/fix it straight away then Disable it till you can." see here http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#cachemaintenance and here's how; http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 and check out this Blog: http://www.geocaching.com/blog/2015/03/you-hid-your-first-geocache-now-what/

Found as Nicnax with Mazzymay. We were picking up a few before the rest of the team arrived. My hands weren't small enough so lucky Mazzymays were. TFTC
Quick find while hiding from a worker who went into the property as I was caching. Stealth mode complete.

A quick couple of caches tonight with sulkybear and our two geokids (aged 3 & 5). A nice easy pick up. Logbook needs a new ziplock bag. Amazing that this quarry is right here. It is huge! Thanks for the cache
There was no 'Quandary' for us today. Due to great co-ords we were straight on it and with the help of our tools the log was soon signed and the container replaced. TFTC
# 7184. Robmc and I are making our way home after the Beaufort Events but there is always time for a cache or two or three....
Rob has previously done this one but we made the should detour and were soon at GZ. Luckily I have my new magnet on a stick with me and so retrieval was very easy. What a great tool. Added my name, popped it back in position and away we go.
Thanks luttrellfive

Easy find. Needs a new bag hoping the rain doesn't get in there good one though. Nav took me right to it.
Very quick find, small hands are a bonus but not a necessity! Good hiding. Signed!
Great spot. I don't have small hands, but I did have the right tool!! TFTC
Found while out with The 2 Wanderers and Chooknchunk. Lucky one of us was able to get this cache. Lovely green paddocks to look at as well. TFTC
Found this one today while trying to hide from some fellow geocachers who like to pretend they're trees or the likes. This one was a little difficult to extract until small hands came on board. Nice hide.

Found on a fun caching day with Misschief18 and The 2 Wanderers. Had got briefly separated from the others after a loo stop, and pulled up to find a group of very strange people hiding behind sticks so they wouldn't be caught geocaching. Lucky they didn't fool us, or otherwise they wouldn't have had my small fingers to help carefully replace the cache
Found this while caching on a boring public holiday, with Wozzle68 Lucky one of us had a small hand.

With the streak from August’s 31 days still continuing and our target of 60 days in sight, we saw this one after completing the nearby Ghostly Bridge. Figuring that it was worth a try, but mindful we may need to cancel if too many muggles around, we headed here. We managed to find the cache after a brief search, and replaced the bag as the existing one was a bit damp. A few vehicles and plenty of containers around, but no sign of life in the area, although we got blown around a fair bit with the strong winds.
Thanks for the cache luttrellfive.

A nice quick one on the way to school for the August Challenge. Lucky Geokid has small hands. We had the cache signed and replaced quickly, thank you.

This was a tight squeeze but ignoring the pain the cache was finally in hand and log signed, yay!

Find # 3007
This weekend had been a few months in the planning. My caching partner in crime SedgwickDave and I had decided on a cache out near Amphitheatre called "Glide with the Eagles" for our 3000th cache. The weather looked like it wasn't going to be too kind to us, but we decided to head off on this epic adventure anyway. We left early Saturday morning with the plan to be back home late afternoon on Sunday morning.
Now back in Ballarat from our #3000 adventure. This one was tricky, quick to locate but difficult to extract from its hidey hole. after a bit of jostling, Dave had it in hand, signed the log and we were off again.
Thanks to luttrellfive for the cache. TNLN

Located GC but couldn't retrieve it from its hiding spot. Made up gumtree twig tongs!!! It worked. Cache is a little damp, needs attention. Enjoyed hide.

An easy find on a lovely Friday afternoon. Took me a while to get the cache out with my chubby fingers, but persistence and a McGuyver moment with some sticks, blood and sweat and I able to gingerly entice this little cache out of its hidy hole.

Night 2 of our Ballarat Smackdown weekend with DazRascal, Blacklegend, Quasar3671 & Trailrunning.
We had just been back to our accommodation to freshen up, and get the kids organised before heading out for some more fun and this was first for the night mission.
Cache was quickly found and signed before moving onto the next.
TNLN SL. An interesting spot. Thanks.

One of 184 cache finds during our "Ballarat Smackdown" weekend of caching on the 23rd to 25th. There were 13 of us including Blacklegend and three of his kids, Trailrunning, Haveanez and their two boys, Dazrascal and myself amd my two boys Tyler and Cooper. We'd spent a few weeks planning the trip, with every Ballarat Puzzle solved in the area, cache lists and road and route maps all ready to go. We stayed in the Miners Retreat Motel for the two nights and the accomodation and facilities were great. Our goal was simple - find as many caches as possible in the time we were here !
We found a great variety of caches and hides during the three days, which also involved a bit of walking and some 4WD fun as well in the state forests north of Ballarat. The weather was quite cold of the Friday and Saturday morning but eventually cleared to nice sunny weather Saturday arvo and Sunday. We all had a great time, especially the kids who did really well to keep up with the pace we were moving.
Our second day of caching and it was to be our biggest day and fullest day too. Into the night caching now and after some dinner and a freshen up back at the accommodation we were back on the road. A nice quick find and we were on our way. TFTC.

One of 182 caches I personally found during our "Ballarat Smackdown" trip. The trip included teams Quasar3671, Trailrunning, Haveanez, Dazrascal and myself. Caches included around 30 mystery caches, a few earth caches, lots of trads and multis and both day and night caching. Some 4WD action was encountered as well, which was great. All puzzles within 60kms were solved.
I took three of my kids, Jasmine 7yo, James and Jemma 5yo twins, traveling from Tocumwal. The trip covered 3 days and two nights, staying in Ballarat. Quasar3671 took his two boys as did Haveanez. One of the best caching trips I have been on, and certainly lots and lots of finds, almost clearing out the main Ballarat area. Home base was the Miners Retreat motel, which was quite pleasant and quiet.
This was a find on our massive Saturday run, which included both day and night caches. Lunch was a picnic in the bush at one or our cache stops. A night caching run was undertaken after a rest and dinner.
Easy find, but small hands required here. My hands are not all that big, so all was good. TFTC.

After a successful Friday evening to start off the “Ballarat Cache Smackdown” with 34 finds on the first day the Saturday was always going to be a day of superhuman effort. It started early with a run heading west and south, only to finish the day and night with a run to the Northwest and North. A great day was had by all because there was some good 4WDing and the weather held out for the day with only one notable shower. A total of 98 caches were collected today, and it shows you how quickly a cache can be located with so many searchers. This cache was one of them. A really easy drive by. Thanks for cache #107 for the smackdown.
There was a muggle working at the quarry. He gave us a strange look when we stopped out front. We pretended to be lost tourists on our phone and he ignored us. Found with Shamus1 on an arvo caching the Ballarat area. TFTC
A bloke was coming out of the gates with a trailer. He looked at me. I stood there and pretended to go wee. He looked away and drove off.
We then cached. Yahoo.
Thanks to luttrellfive and clear skies from TeamAstro.

A number of trucks operating in the area with a couple parked nearby to GZ with a container fashioned into an office I think, they were far enough away that I was able to start my search undetected. I soon had the cache located and was concerned about whether my short fat fingers were going to be able to retrieve the cache. Luckily they were, otherwise I would have needed to use the special tool I bought back from the 2011 UK Mega event. Thanks luttrellfive for the cache.
This was a quick find on our way to Avoca for a birthday party.Even with small hands this was difficult but could have used one of Bushfire's tools if needed. As others have stated the log is always hard to retrieve from these containers so that is why I always place a paper clip on mine.
Thanks luttrellfive for placing this cache.

Despite my 'large' fingers managed to prise this one out without too much fuss. The log is getting a tad tattered (and squashed) and may need replacing in the future, though there is heaps of places for logs to be recorded. Found with Dylan 7a. Thank you to 'luttrellfive' for the caching notes, cache location and cache itself.
