Unfortunately while trying to get to this cache I was informed that access to the lookout is no longer publicly available. You can still there but it is gated and signed as a restricted area.Maybe the CO could come to an agreement with the property owners.I imagine the view is terrific, closure is due to safety issues.
Found with a pair of guys from Tough Guy Book Club - my introduction to Geocaching!
Up in Licola with Tough Guy Book Club, teaching a few fitlrst roommates about geocaching. Lovely view, tftc!
Hadn’t been out for awhile and was offered a ride to explore some familiar territory , always like this area Thanks for the cache
Out on a small afternoon drive with SBOG stopping at Licola for an ice-cream we made our way up to this view point - cache was located and signed then view admired. TFTH
On a journey to the High Country so of course stopped at Licola - first time back for decades. Wandered up for the top view. TFTC and the fun
Picked up the trackable ready for its next destination thank you for bringing us to a lovely place
Working at the Licola Camp, thought I'd go for a walk during lunch break.
Was quite happy to tick this one off the bucket list. Nice little town and lovely lookout. It's worth stopping in and having a look.
TFTC. Time to get back to work.

Not exactly sure how we should have arrived at this point.
We drove past a chained gate with”authorised entry” only , along the Licola - Jamison road.
Went along a bit further and further looking for a spot to do a u turn.
That did come quicker than we thought.
We then decided that the route of entry to the track must be via the Lions Village.
We went to the office to ask permission to pass, the place was deserted, so we continued on.
The internal track joined “no authorised entry” track above the lock gate so we just continued.
Finding the cache was easier.
It was in-the open. Reading the log, the maintenance man along with others had left notes.
So we shifted it back to where it appears to have been moved from and covered it very well.
Needless to say we walked back via the chained gate in the restricted access area.
Not sure if this cache is public accessible... can the owner please confirm if it is permitted to be here.
Apart from this,we enjoyed the views,

We spent a great weekend camping with the geokids on the Macalister River and finding geocaches around Glenmaggie, Heyfield and surrounds. Caches were signed/stamped between 25-27th, September. We found some really beautiful little spots around here! Thanks so much for placing and maintaining these caches Cache was In good shape but was not at base of tree as clue said.
First wondered whether we needed to access here via the youth camp, then saw the road which could happily drive to the top. Legs a bit weary. Brilliant views up top, a fave from me. Perfect way to finish the trip.
Exploring wonderful natural areas, finding a few caches along the way - what a great way to spend a few days with great mates.
While the initial plans were for a long weekend south-east on Mount Howitt the latest forecasts of harsh weather had us detouring north to Mt Buffalo instead. It was a good alternative - the weather was mild and we had a great time in the area for a few days. We ended up getting to Mt Howitt after all when the weather outlook improved.
After 5 days in the mountains we started heading home today.
First time in Licola - it is a small town.
Do we walk or drive to GZ?! The cache found easily, then we took in the views from the lookout.
Thanks, Ephesian.

Heading home after a weekend away in the high country. This was an easy find on the way down the mountain after a hard night in hell at mt howitt. Tftc!
An absolutely fabulous spot. Spent a fair bit of time admiring the view and taking photos before spending far longer looking for the cache. In fact we had given up and were walking away when Pa bent over and tried one last spot and there it was. I felt much better walking back down the hill having found this one. Thanks for placing this cache Ephesian. Log now carries my name or I may have signed it SG.
On the way back from camping nth of Licola for a couple of nights grabbed some caches this being one of them. Thanks Ephesian FTC. Thankfully a group of kids from the camp disappeared on the walk to the lookout.
We were not meant to be here today. But sometimes plans change. We saw the big lion on the rock before eventually locating the cache. TFTC
Impressive lion below. Reminded me of the lion at Nelson’s Column which was fashioned after a Labrador which we also saw at the lion. It was a brown one. Go figure. Nice dog.
Thanks Ephesian and clear skies from TeamAstro. ️ Cache the planet!

Found this cache while staying in Licola for The Town festival Walked up the hill with Darren aka Dazzle.
Found with Beaker on a week-long 4wd trip through the high country. Highlights included walking to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko, sunset from the top of Mt Pinnibar, seeing an Eastern Water Dragon in the Crooked River and having the living daylights scared out of us by a deer at Wonnangatta! Along the way we rescued a bushwalker from a 7km limp with a sprained ankle, climbed mountains, crossed rivers, saw many huts and beautiful scenery, did some excellent 4wd tracks and some great caches. Thanks
Found with FerociousFlea while on our 8 day 4WD sojourn through the the High Country. We were collecting caches that we liked the look of as we went along.
Great views, with a nice coloured sunset to see while at the lookout.

This one was a drive by for us and was found in good condition nice and quickly. This allowed us some time to admire the view and take a view happy snaps while we were at it.

Enjoyed a stroll up the hill following a terrible sausage roll at the General Store. Alansee, BernieH and I were guessing where the cache might be on our way up. Turns out we were all wrong. Great view, worthy of a cache. Thank you for placing it here.
After finding the one down the hill, we walked up here and after finding the cache, enjoyed the view.

I woke up in Licola and my first thought was... OMG!! I'm so sore, what the heck did I do last night???
But my second thought was, CACHE!!! Nothing like a cache for breakfast!
Initially thought this one was muggled, but I was totally barking up the wrong tree!
Great view over sleepy hollow on this drizzly slow morning.
Took the Newfoundland geocoin TB.
Then got ready to head homeward.
Thanks Ephesian.
Happy Friday the 13th!

While waiting for some friends to join up with us in Licola we decided to search for this cache since we didn't have any success at finding it while up here a couple of years ago. I guess that since the tree had been radically pruned, it helped to us find the cache very quickly this time.

A quick grab with the kids. we were pulled up and getting ready to walk up when a local pulled and said we could drive up so drive we did. Cache was found easily enough in its good hits and the view was enjoyed. very little loin action other than groundskeepers today. TFTH

I cycled 65+ km from Cowwarr to Licola to meet geo-hubby who works at the Lions Village a couple of times a month. After a quick lunch we hiked up to the lookout to find this one. Oh boy, did my legs complain! Fortunately cache was a quick and easy find then it was back down to the village for a nice hot shower so geo-hubby and I could swap transport modes with him riding back and me taking it easy in the car. TFTC.
Picked up pathtag to move on.

Well, the GPS tried to send us the difficult way to this one but we out-smarted it! We found it at 9:30am on a beautiful sunny morning. Hard to believe we had driven over the mountain the previous night in snow. We were so.oo.o pleased to reach Licola and find a cabin available...too cold to put up the tent in the dark! The 20cent hot shower was just the ticket! Took: moist wipes Left: pathtag Enjoyed: the view. Headed off to the Wonnangatta. SL TFTC
Found with Bingami and Waygara, and members of the Bushrangers Womens Walking Club at the end of a walking weekend. Great view of the Lions Village. Easy find. TFTC

Found it
I had just dropped my Geo son & his Partner off at McFarlanes Saddle, and was heading back home after doing the "Billy Goat Gruff" & "Sweet Pinnacle of Fire" caches. Note: To get to the above caches the bridge is closed at Little River and there is a river crossing but I would not recommend it for 2WD's.
Called in at the camp and took a quick photo of the lion and then moved on to lookout. I was able to drive right up to the cache.
There was some muggles there which I had to wait for them to go before I could re-hide the cache.

2nd attempt in 5 days. No luck today. Long grass and the possibility of snakes made me not want to go too bush looking for it.

I was working for 2 week at the camp below. So I decided to head up and grab this one on my day off. TNLN. A great view. Thanks.
Sneaked away from school camp at licola wilderness village while on a night bush hike with 107 year 7 kids. I dropped back from hike to sign log (and not give the hide away) but realized I didn't have a pen so hope the owner accepts a X and a date written in a charcoal stick it's a long drive from Mornington if not! Good hide though. Made mental note to revisit the other caches in the area another weekend. TFTC and bringing me here.
TFTC, took a rest stop on our way to our camp site and came across this and the view. TNLN

Called into this one on our way home from a few days camping at Horseyard Flat on a cool and misty Australia Day. Took the Redheads and left a foot klacker. Thanks to Ephesian for the cache and walk up the hill.
1568 Headed off on a leisurely trip to Licola - boring - told the boy's I knew a short-cut (OK, so I fibbed), took them on a rather large "blockie" to the cache. I checked out their 4WD abilities - which were surprising as one was a novice and one had normal road tyres on his vehicle (from now on I WILL NEVER rag a Prado, but then again, I might - because it's all driver ability). We had a lovely day with the kids having a ball in the river, the magic of the High Country and the great company of Crisp Image, the Images and Landsergruppe. Great location for a cache, so thanks Ephesian for the excuse to go bush.
Ok, here's my side of the story. 'Come out caching with us, we're heading out to Licola for a simple day trip' Well, I went along for the ride with Trunksnsuch and Crisp Image not suspecting anything till we turned off the main road. 'Just need to let the tyres down a bit' says Trunksnsuch, well ok we are on dirt so I suppose they know what they are doing. Next thing I know we are heading UP A DAMN BIG HILL!!! 'Hold on' says Trunks, as we bounce and weave and slide upwards for what seems like forever! We finally reach the top and drive a little further on. Ok so we must be near the cache? Not likely! 'OK your turn to drive' What!!?? me? drive up here in the bush with all these hills and rocks and stuff? 'You'll be fine' After many a slow descent and even slower climb I started to like this 4WD stuff, and after a few more hours I was addicted! And then we ended up back on the flat stuff and into Licola. And to top it off, a great cache to round out the day!!
Thanks so much Ephesian for a great reason to be thrown in the deep end!!
Thanks so much Ephesian for a great reason to be thrown in the deep end!!
I saw this cache on the map and not having been to Licola for some time decided to have a look. So contacted Trunksnsuch and suggested we should have a look. So we picked up Landsergruppe and headed north from the valley in search of your cache. Trunks said I know a short cut so we lowered the tire pressure engaged 4WD and went on the "short cut" Well we climbed up Hicky's creek track then turned on to Mt Margret Track. We followed the track and finally turned on to the Chromite Mine track. We descended to the mine site where we stopped for a well earned break. I had to question Trunks to see if we were not lost as I thought we should have been at Licola hours ago. No problem she said we will follow this track a bit further then we will pop out on the main road again. So off we went. We climbed up and up and up then went down and down then up up up again. We finally popped out on the main rd well above Licola. So we took the main Rd to town found the cache and went home after an ice cream.
No swaps today.
Regards
Crisp Image and the little Images.
P.S Do Not believe Trunks is she says I know a short cut!

8.30am Xambo4u was running and First Aid course at Licola for the CFA and I had some time to fill in. Being in July and having experienced some very bitter weather in Melbourne I came well prepared with snow gear for the weekend. To my suprise we had the most glorious sunny nice days. The surrounding area is truly lovely to see as its recovering from the fires, floods and mudslides from 2006. Well worth a visit or a stop off on the way through.
Taking off from our back door, started to take on the blackberries and then saw the true way. A short walk to the top. Took time to take in the views from the lookout.

Way back in about 1976 we came up here with a crew of Lions Club members, just after the place was purchased. We spent some time, cleaning up weeds, scrubbing out cabins, dislodging spiders, and even found a toilet block hidden in 3 metre high blackberries. The road to Licola was unsealed back then, and took forever to travel up there in a bus of volunteers. Dunno what happened to the toilet block but today the place looks prosperous and a pleasure to visit.

#285 Found at 3.45pm. This was our 2nd and last cache today driving from Walhalla back to Albury - with a DNF in between. This is such an interesting town and we are amazed at the self sufficiency of the place. Funnily enough we were looking for petrol when we arrived here and what do you know - they aren't open on Tuesdays!! Impeccable timing . Thankfully our 140litre petrol tank still had enough to get us through to Mansfield. Spent a little while here trying to locate the cache but Dad soon located the tricky hide.

Found this one today - beaten to a FTF by Jimmymaff - only by one day though -A great look-out - I've been to Licola almost every month for the past ten years - and have never been to this lookout. We only swapped TB's today - took a racing car and left a hammer - that wants to party - plenty of festivals around here throughout the year.

Had to go for a ride on this beautiful day. BIL and I went for a blast up the Licola road. Rode all the way to GZ on the road bikes. Found the hide and did the paperwork. Have been to Licola many times but have never been up to this lookout. The view is very good. I took nothing and left a snake (so watch out). Dropped off a TB also. Thanks to Ephesian for placing this cache.
