Never would have stopped here if it weren't for the cache, but we're so glad we did. The bridge is incredible!
Was worried about this one as it has been a while since logged. However located and signed off with happiness
Found and took tb in exchange for a relic from townsville fun little cache hidden in rocky place. visiting from townsvilleTFTC
Find number 12342 at 12:28:36 pm on Sunday the 27 August 2023
Departed Melbourne several weeks ago now and have been travelling north for the winter, well, for the northern warmth actually (hopefully ), passing through as many small towns as I can grabbing the odd cache here and there as I travel.
Finally made the northern warmth and the Cape and we have loved every minute of it now we are on our way home again and having many more adventures as we slowly travel south.
Spending a few extra days in Townsville now due to a cracked chassis and tow bar mount, due to get fixed this week before we can move on again.
Out on a day trip today heading from Townsville to Charters Towers and back grabbing caches here there and everywhere
Arrived at GZ hot on the heals of O319 and SJG66 so we were spared the need to find the prize as it was already open, therefore this was a quick log
Absolutely loved this location, will be back some day with the caravan for a longer stay. T'was a quick find as well
**Thanks for placing this cache Colonel Dago**

What a lovely old bridge. Lots of campers in nearby campground seem to have been here for quite a while. Quick find. TFTH
Found with The X-Trailers. Cache all ok .Enjoyed our night at camp ground and an evening walk.

Apologies for the late log here (26.12.23) but I've had a busy time since getting back to the UK.A dramatic spot on a sunny day, with wildlife and historic structures; lovely. A nice walk from where I parked the car too. All in all, a fine slice of 'caching.TNLN-TFTC!SP (UK) on an epic trek right around the world.
Day 11 of our NQ holiday & today we are just on a bit of a road-trip with no plan in particular... We noticed this grand old bridge from the highway so made the diversion to come take a look
TFTC Colonel Dago Cache was a quick find & in good condition.

I found this beauty today with my Muggle Mother. We were fascinated with the new and old bridge being built so close together and took many snaps of the location. The cache itself was easily located but harder to retrieve due to my fear of spiders. It was completely covered in spiders webs. I used to a stick to drag it out and get the webs off. I then signed the cache and replaced it as found. As I was replacing the cache my mother (who was under the stone arch) yelled out “ OMG I think I have found a Marijuana plant I can’t believe someone is growing this out here”. Standing under the arch made her words echo really loud and I would hate to know how many people at the nearby campsites heard her . It ended up being a castor oil plant but I am sure several campers would have gone searing for the ‘plant’ after we left . The memory and the beauty of this spot has earnt a FP from me. Thanks for placing this here and helping us to discover another beautiful part of the region.
In the area with Selva Girls today as we head to Townsville and picked up caches along the way and this was one of them. Once at GZ the cache was soon in hand and once the log was signed all was returned as found.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for me and others to enjoy.

Mr TessabooTsv is here. This is the hardest find I've had yet, got turned around on the tracks into here. Went to the wrong bridge, then as I was closing in on the hide, Mr Magpie wanted to swoop me. Even as I was crouched next to the rock. Did sign the log.
Found it TFTC Found in good condition. Strange to have 2 steel bridges together. Hubby said the old rumour was the foundations were bad ??? hmmmm
TFTC SL Found while exploring the Charters Towers area. Thanks for bringing us here.
On our way to Cairns after Visiting family and they dropped in to show us the big bridge
What a great spot! Was worried my GPS would drop out but I found it in the end.
Thanks for showing us this hidden gem
Thanks for showing us this hidden gem
We had noticed this bridge a couple of days ago, and agreed it needed closer investigation- well two bridges actually but it is the older one that has the more interesting construction. Still a very large number of caravans using this as a free camp. Thanks for the cache.
We couldn't believe how many caravans are parked here.. We found the cache under the massive big bridges. Tftc.
After staying nearby we stopped here to find this cache, which was not a problem. Did the signing duties, together with ilook4geo, with both names being added to the log. Thanks go to Colonel Dago for putting this cache into play.
Checking out the available caches along and near the highway and side roads with goingplaces2. Had a good run and enjoyed the finds. TFTC.
After our week in Townsville for the mega we are heading out to Charters Towers for a few days before heading south for home!
Joined up with Hans and Linda and cached our way to CT via Ravenswood. Even with the temperature hanging around 36c we had a successful day with only one DNF.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides and showing many different places.

After spending a week in Townsville, we are back on the road, to Charters Towers via Ravenswood today. We are doing this with HansandLinda. We found the cache and signed the log. Thoroughly enjoyed visiting the caches. TFTC
Fun, adventure, travel, history, geology, mental stimulation, social gatherings, support and friendship are just some of the elements of geocaching.

Having a great time making our way to the Townsville Mega with Team Crackers, Micaparamedic and Geoturtle37.
We are on the last leg and Townsville is now not far. Just a few more on the way to mark our trail.
This is a beautiful place to have a cache and camp. There were a number of rather permanent appearing campsites here. We were lucky that we were able to find the cache without any problems, especially from muggles.

Team Crackers, Micaparamedic, Papi4596 and I are making slow progress towards the Mega in Townsvlle. We are having a fantastic time finding caches with a little bit of touristing in between.
Townsville can be seen on the horizon ahead but there is always time for one more on the way.
There were a few fairly long term camps set up here but the area is very beautiful for exactly that. None of the camps or campers gave us any troubles with finding this cache.

Catching up with late logs.
Heading to the mega event in Townsville with micaparamedic, Geoturtle37 & Papi4506 we left Charters Towers this morning with a destination of Townsville picking up any cache that may appear on the map.
We also spent a couple of nights in Charters Towers, unfortunately we stayed at the caravan park as we had no idea this area existed until we came for this cache. This would have been a much more peaceful camp.
The views here were great and micaparamedic got to spend a few extra days here on the way home as all the roads were shut because of the heavy rain.
Today however was a great day and we wandered off to gz where the cache was a nice quick find and the log book now contains our names.
To save room in the smaller logs we signed as "The Vics"
Thanks Colonel Dago for the cache.

Day 8 of the road trip to Townsville to with LuckyL10n and today it was a drive from Townsville out to Charters Towers.
A quieter day than others on the trip, but that was due to the different types. Puzzles, WIG's and Multi's were the order of the day. A couple of trads of course as went right past them....and we couldn't leave them could we?
Left CT around 2.30 and head for Cardwell to help fill in a few counties up towards Carins and the Tablelands. All up, another great day.
Thanks to all the CO's for the caches....they all help to make the trip a good time.

#13904 - 9:31:00 AM; Day eight of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. Made it through to Townsville last night and headed out to Charters Towers to try our hand at the variety of cache types in the area today. Managed 30 finds for the day on the way to and from and around the town in Charters Towers, with one DNF. Cache types we found included Adventure Labs, Letterbox Hybrids, Trads, Multis, Unknown (Puzzle), Wherigos, a virtual and an earthcache. All caches were found in good order unless noted in the log and where required each has been signed L.L10n & Sdl or vice versa. Apologies for the largely generic logs [:o)] TFTC Colonel Dago
I was invited on an early morning drive with Sheridan (from Jacs Team) and Vic (from Waz and Vic) for some caches in the Charters Towers area. We had no set plans, just a few on a wish list and a few we both had solved. It was again another fun day with these two ladies. I like caching with these two, the simplicity in our caching day, the stories, the banter and the laughs were just all day; nothing is a problem, thank you.
We collected some nice caches and a very different adventure lab on the way in from Townsville, we even left a fun little multi for our return home. The day saw us collecting a whereigo, some trads, a couple of old caches, some nice D/T caches. There was a virtual and a couple of puzzles, some more adventure labs, a bite to eat and a stop off to collect some Shinny little disc thingies. An absolute great day. All logs were signed with the three names and all caches replaced as found.

A very quick scribble so I didn't annoy the locals who are living under the bridge. TFTC.

Day 22 of our 2022 Northern escape tour via Normanton and Cairns to attend the Townsville MEGA. We used this pre event day to travel out to Charters Towers to complete our LGA areas visited planned for this trip. Still some to do post event heading south along the coast.
Wow, thanks for bringing us here.

Day 22 of adventure to Townsville Mega. A trip to Charters Tower today picking up a few caches in the area. Quick find. Stamped log and replaced. To CO.
Can't fathom what we were doing the last time we stayed here but finding GC caches can't have been it. We realised after we left this cache had been an easy walk from where we were camped. Back for another visit... no forgetting this time. TFTC Colonel Dago.
Coongoola and geodog Buddy are making our way towards Townsville where the Mega is being held.
Thanks Colonel Dago for placing this cache.

Thanks for a quick easy find on our way back from a day trip to Burdekin Falls Dam. Thanks for the cache and a great historical site. The steelwork on the old bridge incredible.
Staying nearby and this was a straight forward hide. Thanks for hiding and giving us a reason to explore.
Day 18 of my trip north from Adelaide.
Today was spent caching and sightseeing around Charters Towers. I had picked out the multis, puzzles, wherigos and traditional caches that I was keen to do and picked ip a few other opportunistic traditional caches along the way. I also completed the new Lab caches in town.
All in all it was as a very pleasant day, with a cool morning and a relatively mild day, which made things much easier and more enjoyable. In all I managed to find 7 puzzles, 9 multis, 3 wherigos, 12 traditionals and an earthcache for a total of 32?caches for the day ples the Lab caches). I only had one DNF.
This was as a quick find.
Thanks.Colonel Dago for the cache.

Third cache for the day. Such an amazing bridge. Could not resist some photo shoots with the bridge in the background. Thank you for bringing us to a lovely location as if it was not for the cache we would never have come here not knowing we could get so close. TFTC
Easy one today. Hubby and I are away from home in Caloundra, for a couple of months. Great camp here. Tftc

Was advised this morning that EatSleepCacheOnline had replaced this cache earlier today and as I was on the way back to Townsville, I thought I would put to rest a long standing DNF. I did locate it where I thought it was. Signed log and turned into a smiley. This one is good to reenable Colonel Dago. Thanks for the cache and thanks ESCO for replacing to keep alive. A train went by as i located it.
Container replaced, ready to start caching.
Many many thanks to EatSleepCacheOnline and Ben, helped to get the cache active again.
Have fun.

EatSleepCacheOnline will replace that one shortly and will replace. She knows where she found it so it retains the original hide. Will let you know when you can reenable it then
Hey Ben,
Thank you so much for having a look at it.
A small flat systema will do, it is enough space for it.
Was it possible for you to have a look?

Hi Colonel, i’m heading up to Charters tomorrow. I’m gathering that the cache was under those rocks next to the tree shadowed by the nearest structure. What type of container did you used for it. I’ll replace it on the way up. A small flat systema will do or a mint tin? I can’t remember how much space we have to play with.
Will be in the area this afternoon so will check to see if the cache is at GZ.
Despite quite a few muggles about for the Easter long weekend did not encounter any near GZ. Searched but no prize.
Might be worth a visit from the CO, possibly taken by the floodwater in February? Will be back for another look if someone else logs a find.

Probably a few places to hide a shoebox sized cache, but unless it’s a rock, it’s a no from me.
Staying in the nearby camping area we came to make the find under this great old bridge. Thanks Colonel Dago.
Wow...so many caravans and campers along the river here. Sneaked down to the cache location where it was all quiet today. The old railway bridge makes a nice backdrop to this area. Nice quick find. TFTC
