Thanks great cache. Nice view down the valley. No wonder Ned picked this spot.
I had to head to Sydney to pick up a wiz bang telescope that my son bought on ebay, the first thing I checked when I was planning the journey was if any of the two possible Jasmer months I have left were a possibility. Then the decision to get this on the way to Sydney or the way home. As I approached Glenrowan on the way there the weather was glorious so I made the detour.I chose my parking location and head off on foot hoping to find Ned's Hideout. I was surprised on how easy the hike was and before long I was hunting for and finding my prize. With only one jasmer month left to find I think a trip to the SA border is going to have to happen soon.Thank you robcw for this great old cache
I was driving back to Canberra after spending Easter at home in Melbourne. It was raining as I left home but the weather at Glenrowan was gorgeous! I enjoyed the drive out along the gravel/dirt road in my little Lancer. Like others before me, I drove past the winery and parked on the side of the road as close to GZ as I could get. Then it was a short slog uphill for an easy find and a great view! Visited TB. Thanks for the awesome cache, Rob Williams
I came here especially for this one, programmed it into the Nav and wasnt sure if the BMW would make it the whole way in due to some rain the night before. But no it took me all the way there and I made the final short sharp venture up the hill on foot. Has the beer been there since the very beginning? Loved this spot, loved the ammo can. Was seeking this one out on a list of old caches. TFTC
On the way up to the cache we bumped into the land owner who runs the winery here. We tasted a bunch of their wines and beers and had a long chat with him, learnt a bit of the local history too.He even knew about the caches in the national park. All good here, we signed in the new log book. Cool to see the very old 2nd logbook from 2003. FP awarded for old cache.TFTC
The things Tiz13 will do to chase her Golden oldies and to try and fill in her Jasmer grid...this was definitely an epic journey well by van anyway thanks to F ING Google maps.. do not listen to google maps she lies. So on the second attempt to get to GZ I followed Booth Rd in onto Baileys...l parked the van down the bottom and enjoyed the 1km hike up..up..up ..steep but doable marked my way as I entered the bush. Fully kitted gaiters and all my yuffie atire. from 70 Meters away I guessed were GZ was going to be very DGS style...that 70 Meters did feel like 200..got there and only 1 circle around GZ had me seeing the cache...love reading the old log books ..I'm not sure who's idea the beer was .old log book almost full so l have added a replacement book in a new ziplock bag..foot selfie and a few zen moments before heading on.

After a morning kayaking on the Ovens River, AngelG27, Fox in Jox and I headed for the hills west of Wangaratta to grab this old cache. Google tried to take us through the brewery, but that way was not passable, so we took the road past the brewery and parked as close as we could to the cache. Cache easily found after a pleasant stroll through the bush. TFTC.

Cache 10077 on 9 Apr 2023.
It is Easter so it must be Mega weekend! Heading south from the ACT to Rutherglen and looking for a few other caches in the area as well. Travelling with TikvaNZ, Fox in Jox and Search4 (some logs signed as FAST) but no doubt will be finding caches with others as well. The rain will not deter us!
This old cache was high on my priority list being such an old one. We drove up Baileys road from the west and parked 200m from cache, then an easy uphill hike to GZ. Then back west to avoid private property.
Thanks robcw for the old cache and the fun!

The Easter long weekend was spent in Rutherglen for the MEGA. Drove from Canberra with others: TikvaNZ, AngelG27 and Search4.

Now that’s a classic old historical cache! The direction I travelled to get here led to private property where the owner asked what I was up to. When I explained, he gave me the ok to travel through & find the prize. This is a favourite for me. A great trek after a great trek! Tftc & keeping this one alive!
The sun has to be over the yard arm somewhere. Another beautiful place, the view over the Wetlands and the Plains.... Now onto the next one for the day. TFTC
We decided to head south with albida33, Joolay, Kitty Katch, Fitzy_1965 and MinnieK to tackle the Wangaratta area. With half of our team out collecting the WCT Challenge trail, the injured one went in search of some easy grabs to pass the time.
After doing a few solo it was time to go pick up Fitzy_1965 and MinnieK from their camping spot. Then we set out to pick up more caches along our journey to then meet up again with the rest of the crew after they had finished the challenge walk.
After getting together again we all headed up to Ned Kelly's Hideout although we had a false start at the beginning of this one. We soon found the right track in eventually.
Joolay took on the terrain and came much closer to the GZ.
Nice to collect an old cache.
Thanks to the troupe for letting us tag along on this weekend adventure, we had a great time.
Thanks for keeping the old hide alive Rob Williams

Day 1
With a long weekend in Canberra this weekend, Fitzy_1965 and I headed back to Wangaratta with several other cachers to clean up some areas we didn’t get to whilst at the recent Mega.
Fitzy_1965 and I left home early and got to Wangaratta late morning. We met up with FurfacesLL and did some caching before we were to meet up with albida33, Joolay & kittykatch.
We had a great afternoon caching then all headed into Wangaratta for a great dinner at a pizza bar. Lots of great discussion about caching and our next adventures.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned. Thanks to the CO for placement and maintenance.

Canberra Day long weekend trip to Wangaratta. After spending the Mega weekend down at Wangaratta, there was so much more to do that a plan was hatched to visit again to do the Warbies Challenges and the Old Coach Road. A team of Joolay, Kitty Katch, FurfacesLL, Fitzy_1965 & MinnieK and I came together for this trip. Day 2. The main activity today was the walk around the challenges. The area was a fantastic place for a long walk, and the caches made it memorable, even though some seemed a lot further from the track than might be considered appropriate in a National Park. Once the walk was over we went to the old Ned Kelly hideout cache and then on for a few tree climbs.
After long debates about access, we came to a gate and went all the way around to the other side. Then we were unsure if we could access as far as we wanted to, but the car made it up. After that it was a nice uphill walk to the cache in some great boulders.
Thanks for the cache robcw

27,181. Found with minniek, FurfacesLL, albida33, Joolay and Kittykatch during our Post-MEGA Wangaratta visit.
After the wonderful Mega we had in Wangaratta in January this year, there were still many caches left to find. A bunch of us Canberra Region Cachers decided that they certainly deserved another visit to try and knock them off. minniek and I - arriving late morning today - were last to arrive with the others journeying down yesterday to do the Challenge Series walk early this morning. We claimed our camping spot at Oxley Reserve, then headed out to start our caching spree. This was the next of many. Once we met up with the rest of the crew it was time for this golden oldie. Once we found the correct way in it was a fun drive then 200m walk up to GZ. Signed / Stamped log as appropriate, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one on our list.
Thanks Rob Williams !! Beer is still safe and sound ! FP !

Awesome to collect this old one. Google took us up the wrong way but it ended up being private property so we had to turn around and go right round the other side. Following from previous logs I decided to drive up the track (it was a bit rutted at the start but I managed. and then it was a reasonable 200 m walk from the road. So so cool to get this old one. Beer still there and it was put carefully back.
Down in Wangaratta for the weekend to target come caches in the Warby Range, we did not have time for during the Mega. Today it’s Albida33, FurfacesLL and Kittykatch enjoying the fun and great weather.
Thanks For getting me out and about robcw

AND it zeroed too! A new mission is to target some golden oldies so this one ticks all boxes plus it was a nice wander up here. Enroute to home base from marvellous Melbs so thought a detour to the Warbys’ in order and that also takes care of the daily exercise. TFTC AND THE FUN and a FAVE and hip hip hooray for longevity.
Great cache to come to, oldest one in the region.
Parked at cnr of Booth and Baileys Rd and did the walk up the hill for 1km and then onto the bush for the last 200m.
Enjoyed the walk and the area, thanks for maintaining the cache and leaving a really great treasure. TFTC

Day three of the Wangaratta MEGA event and it has been an awesome time. I have really enjoyed my time here; the caches, the countryside, the events, the people, the history, it is more than I expected, thank you. Today is my last day here but there is still a lot of caching to be done before I leave.
This morning Karicka, Domsky and I headed off early to walk out to Ned Kellys Hideout. It was an amazing walk and with the recent rains, we were lucky to see this area with water flowing over the rocks and over the waterfall. We found the cache easily and were very happy to sign our names in this log, another oldie and one that does not fill a hole in my grid but a very nice cache just the same. Thank you for placing this one here, such a great spot.

After a late night, having fun with the gadget Labs at the Wangaratta mega, we decided an early start was definitely in order to continue the fun we were having in this area. Having made the trip down from Brisbane, it was definitely a good idea to burn no daylight.
With Chamad and Karicka, we took a very early morning walk and made our way to GZ to celebrate this beautiful old hide.

One of many caches found during the week of the 2021 Wangaratta Mega. Thanks to all Cache Owners for their contribution to our recreational activity!
This old-school cache was on the to-do list. I spent some time reading previous logs to best prepare for this one. It has been suggested to approach from the West end of Baileys Road.
I had to park where Booth Road meets Baileys Road due to the road ruts looking too intimidating for my 2WD. I made the 1km walk up Baileys Road to the closest point to GZ. From there, I went off track, over a fence, across a waterway and climbed up the decent hillside. Made the easy find at GZ while I caught my breath and enjoyed some views hidden amongst the trees. The walk back to the car was a pleasant downhill stroll.
Some rough waypoints for future reference -
Road Ruts (Parking for 1km uphill walk): S 36° 22.740 E 146° 11.250
Off-Track (Bushbash/ Hill climb to GZ): S 36° 22.540 E 146° 11.880

This beautiful old cache was brought to my attention by my wonderful boyfriend dalerious . It was an absolute pleasure coming up here to sign this log and fill a Jasmer hole. Thank you robcw for continuing to keep this one alive. Favourite given .
Nice to see this still being found, after all these decades. When I first placed it, GPS was very rare and in its infancy and it was hard to find devices that could use it (now every phone can) and this was overlooking a big lake (now drained). Thanks for still looking for it and caring for it.
We were so excited to find such an old cache, nearly to 20 yrs old, and still the bottle of beer lives on in the container. Great walk around the falls track and a bush bash walk to this cache then the round trip walk back to the car. Trees have certainly grown so the lookout wasn't a clear view of the area as it would have been in the inital placement. TFTC
What day we have had in the Warbies ... Im feeling truely exhausted but the idea of a 2001 cache is motivating me to keep walking up and up the hill (my caching partners support was also fantastic for my motivation might I add)...We were close, so close, 30 metres maybe, I'm barely moving and stop to catch my breath, yet again.. And then I look up, im not wearing my glasses but yeah maybe.. I yell out to my partner questioning the size of the hide, could it be an ammo can? Yes it could, woohoo I exclaim Found It and I'm stoked... But with no energy left to give I supervise from a nearby lower viewing spot, maybe 10metres only but still, im stuffed and thus I allow my amazing caching partner to sign the log on our behalf, thanks babe!
He laughs as he opens the cache, a bottle of beer, really, why would someone carry that in, why would others leave it behind? There must be a story to it, so leave it we do and on our way we go....
Finally our day of walking and caching is complete, well all but the darn walk back to the car anyway... We will miss the brewery, we wont make it by 5pm, oh well a drink in Wang will do, we have earned it I reckon...
******
Im home now, logging the days caches and i remember the beer bottle lol...So i scroll down the log entries looking for clues as to its how and why... Omg, the beer is nearly as old as the cache! Glad we left it, glad others have too... Did feel I wanted to screenshot and share the log entry detailing the beers origins after Id scrolled through 20 years of entries to find it however

The decision was made to head to the Warbys after the rain and catch some waterfalls and add some smilies. It was a late start due to a desire to sleep off a few beverages from the night before so after lunch SomethingDifferent and I headed off to attack the Warby Falls Heritage Trail and finish off at the brewery just down the hill. It ended up being a long day with luckily only a sprinkling of rain and a surprising lack of water after the rain we have had.
This was the last cache and after ummming and ahhing and discussing the merits of a 2001 cache we headed off into the bush for it. After finding a path of sorts we headed out to this to find it and a view out over the wetlands. I loved adding this old smiley and learning the history. The beer was an interesting addition to the cache.

Returning home after a brief trip to Sydney we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to look for this 2001 cache. What looked like roads on the map turned out to be closed tracks and walking trails. One local was determined we couldn’t get any further but a lady picking berries in a roadside garden kindly showed us the way to the well concealed car park to the Warby Falls Heritage Trail. We followed the walking track for 1 km and the final 200m was an easy off track walk. No snakes were spotted but a lace monitor lizard gave us a decent fright. Thanks for this well maintained cache with an amazing view and interesting history. A favourite from us for sure.
Being an older cache this cache was high on my list to find while passing through on our way to Mansfield/Mt Buller. Parking at the Warby Falls Heritage Trails carpark we waited out a shower with a cuppa then made our way to the cache for an easy find. Good to stretch the legs after the long drive and top it off with

Out in the Warby's today grabbing a few caches and this one was on my target list being such an old timer and also up for a walk through the bush for this old timer. Easy enough walk in and only had a slight detour off the track to the gz and l soon had the good sized cache in hand after a short search. Nice views from the gz towards the Winton wetlands and also over the surrounding area. Not to hard to imagine bush rangers hiding out in this sort of countryside, many thanks for hide and for bringing me here. TNLN but the memories.
Great spot for a cache, the beer was tempting, but i wanted to make it out alive
On my way home and had marked a few interesting caches to search for plus many random distractions enroute.
This was a detour well worth it. I parked about 1.2km down Booths Rd and walked up and back in 40 minutes or so. A good bit of exercise after the driving. The road is okay for this road but the walk was nice. Great spot. Favourite for me.
Thanks to Rob Williams for the placement and fun.

TFTC. We were on the way to Albury fro the third time in three weeks. We had targeted this cache to fill in another month on our Ausmer/Jasmer grid. Last week we decided to bypass this as Linda had just had a shoulder op and feeling tender. This week with time on our side we set the Vehicle GPS and let it navigate us to within 200 metres. A walk up the hill ensued. When I got to GZ the heavens opened for a couple of seconds, enough to deter any lingering after signing the log. A Cgreat view form our here. Thanks for maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.
So this cache was high on our list of targets as, like many other geocachers, we wanted it for our Ausmer/Jasmer challenge chart. Today, we headed out this way from Wangaratta, parked beside the road below the cache and slowly made our way up the rather steep hill. The cache was easy to find once we were in the right location and after signing the log, we sat and enjoyed the light breeze since it was about 30° today.

Honestly, I'm not 100% certain of the authenticity of this cache being anywhere near Ned Kelly's hideout. I somehow doubt he ever stood where I sat to sign its logbook.
It doesn't matter.
The view is awesome.
I was here on a mission, well two missions and I succeeded in both.
I've been having a bit of a go at filling in my "Jasmer" grid, a challenge of finding a cache placed in every month of geocaching's existance, November 2001 is now done and dusted.
My other mission was to drop off a TB that I have been carrying around for a while. It has a Kelly theme to it and wants to visit Kelly caches. I picked it up in Beechworth and think this is an ideal place for it to rest for a bit.
Thanks Rob for a ripper little wander in our great Aussie bush to a ripper view to find a ripper old cache. [^]
A favourite point just in case he really was here.
It doesn't matter.
The view is awesome.
I was here on a mission, well two missions and I succeeded in both.

A massive weekend spent with fellow cachers doing what we all love the best...adventure caching. With Jacko83, Pacman, Anikano, Quarsar3671 we hiked in wetlands, up mountains, rock scrambled, bush bashed and even done some simple drive-bys the whole time having a great time enjoying each others company in the spectacular Victorian countryside.
Once we parked the cars safely we took to the steep walk to GZ enjoying the views while all the time keeping an eye out for the ghost of Ned The old cache was found and all team names added to the log book.
Thanks Rob Williams for the cache with history.

High Country Adventure. Jacko83, Pacman, Anikano, Tritonz, Quarsar3671: 5 days, from Bright to Buckland to Wonnangatta to Howitt, many ks, many caches, many laughs and many memories.
Day set out an idea a while ago to chase the first 500 oldest caches in Victoria, so, that has now been my mission. Seen this one a stack of times driving up this way yet never stopped to make a find due to time constraints. Today this was a priority, so we found the right track in, and made our way to the closest point and trudged our way in.
A bit of an uphill climb to warm up the calves to start with, then happily signing this oldie and taking in the views. Great location, just what caching should be about.

I am feeling incredibly privileged. As a relatively new cacher I am learning the game from some of the most experienced cachers around. This cache was on Jacko83s list of caches to find so naturally I came along for the ride with four more experienced cachers. This cache was placed 18 years ago. I was 7 then!! Crazy. And it’s been waiting there for me to find all this time and still would be if I hadn’t been introduced to caching last year. Loving this game and the people I’m meeting. Thanks for helping to start things off!
This one's been on the to-do list for a long while now. Today we were passing nearby (on our way to Tassie) and, after meeting up with our friend Tronador in Glenrowan for lunch, who was also on the way to Tassie, we set off in search of this old cache. We got to about 240m away by car and then made the easy bush bash up to GZ. Great views from the nearby rock platform. TFTC!

A fantastic cache worth top views. No wonder Ned choose this spot. Great drive and walked the last 200 or so meters straight up. Open scrub. Easy.
Mrs H spied this from afar.
Thank for the company the last few days.

What a lovely area driving to this cache - past many vineyards and cellar doors before we got to the NP sign. We parked the car at about the closest point we could drive to - 200m to go. Surprisingly open forest and easy walking here. So much dead wood lying about.
At GZ we couldn't see much of the surrounding countryside so it was probably a good place to hideout. Anyway it was so good to find this old cache today.
Thanks Rob Williams for placing and maintaing this cache which added to our enjoyment of the area.

Last day of my big road trip to Melbourne. Today is all about getting home in time for work tomorrow, but not without a few caches. I always like Sunday traffic and it made for good time so more time for caching. Thanks to all the cache owners for putting then out there!

This has long been on my list of hides to want to find. I haven't ever really gotten close to it but today on the way up the Hume, I stopped here with DAB so we could collect this very old cache hide smiley. The geo wheels were parked about 200 meters from the cache and the walk was a good one through some great landscape. The cache hide and terrain were a lot harder than we was thinking from what was posted. I was so puffed going up the hill, I had to stop for a few moments to catch my breath half way. But once at the hide we enjoyed the views before having a hunt around to make the find.

Found on 18 May 2018 at 12:00 pm.
Another day to reduce my outstanding annual leave so I headed out from the other side of Melbourne bright and early today and arrived here to lovely drizzle that continued nearly all day.
On the way up I had a missed call from my buddy Fleabag- while I was getting fuel for the car and as I arrived here I noticed it and then he called me again accusing me of being lazy and not answering his calls. Pffff. I was probably up earlier than he was!
Glad to get this one...only 2 November 2011 placed caches left in Victoria. Initially this was an easy walk from where I parked on the road, last section was pretty steep and slippery on the way down due to the grass being wet. Nice big cache though.
Thanks Rob Williams for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

I woke up and saw that a new cache had already been published
Hang on, I'm getting a decided case of deja vu here [?] This can't be right as I was only there doing a multi 3 days ago[?]
This one was a much harder decision though as I'd already spent my already borrowed fuel money 3 days ago but since it's now a new month.... well suffice to say I borrowed MORE fuel money Rex and I went out for a drive [^]
My multi cache blues are sadly still alive and well as it took me about 3 workings out to get a decent looking GZ at the 1st cache of the day
After getting the 1st cache find at 10.38am (FTF too ) we then cached on until the last cache find at 10.43pm and arrived home at midnight after finding 10 caches for the day [^] No idea who was the most tired [)]: Rex or me[?]
Seeing how close to this cache I was and after having had a 'nudge' from docNwitchjy that there was a cache that was better accessed from the road I was on than from the East so that made up my mind [^]
A lovely walk up and into this cache hide and WOW what a view that would have been without the burn off haze but still it was good enough for several pics to be taken [^]
I spent some time imagining being hidden away up here and watching horses gallop towards the hill, wondering which would be the best way to escape!
Thanks for keeping this old cache going [^]

On the way back from Albury after a quick one night stay there I was trying to calculate if I had time to stop for a cache and still make it back to catch the footy at the MCG. With that in mind this probably wasn’t the best choice but I knew it was a cache what would fill a spot on my Jasmer/Ausmer grid. My GPS didn’t help and as I approached from the east I was served up a range of routes that looked promising and then would fail or change part way through. I’m pretty sure I crossed some private property when I shouldn’t have but I got to the track I was looking for without being chased by a shotgun! I jumped out of the car and trotted off towards the cache realising part way there that I hadn’t brought my pen. I trusted there would be one in the cache and kept going to save time.
Once I got to the right area I didn’t think it would take too long to find and so it proved as I spotted it from one elevation and adjusted to grab it from another. To my relief there was a working pen in the good sized container and I added my name to the logbook. My tyres weren’t even slashed when I got back to the car and I headed out to the west which made a bit more sense and even made the footy on time. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache Robcw. Great to find an old cache and even the replacement logbook had been here for more than 15 years! This one earns a favourite point from me.

Being this close I couldn’t resist picking up one of Australia’s oldest caches. Parked the car as close as possibles and we set off to checkout Ned Kelly’s Hideout. My phone decides not to play fairly and was sending me on a merry dance, thankfully recent cachers took photos from GZ so I just tree matched and bang there’s the cache.

I was headed to Yackandandah for the weekend and wanted to grab a few local caches while I was in the area. I targetted this cache because it was published in 2001. A nice climb in perfect weather. I was a little disappointed to discover that the log wasn't the orginal but as this replacement has been in the cache since 2003, and is still in pristine condition, my disappointment soon evaporated. I love reading these old logs and this one contained some quite famous names. A very enjoyable and rewarding cache. A favourite point from me.

Just a quick note rather than a DNF, I didn't get close enough to DNF it.
This one popped up on my radar as I'm currently trying to fill a few squares in my hidden month grid, I also quite like Ned Kelly stuff, having grown up not too far away I have certainly seen some interesting things and heard some equally interesting stories over the years. Anyway, I wasn't sure if I would get two littelies and a Granni up the hill but after asking the question amongst some other local cachers I decided to give it a try today. I got a lot closer in my car than I thought and being that time was in short supply , that was a good thing. Off we trod bush bash style, with about 140 meters to go Goe daughter shrieked snake!! She over reacts so I didn't take much notice but when Granni and Geo son said the same I took notice, we all froze and I hoped it would be on its way and it was, Geo daughter (4) didn't' settle after that she was very nervous, not long after that I developed a blood nose ( something that happens to me often). Sadly we turned back with about 100 meters to go, I will be back for this one, so close yet so far!

Out and about with Shadow 67 today on Mission GC which meant we had to find a cache with 10+ favourite points. This was the only cache I could find close to home with the right criteria. So glad we went on this mission...such a beautiful place...with lots of water flowing in the area we were treated to some awesome little waterfalls and cascades. I see why it has so many favourite points .....and willl be adding another one.

Home early today so took an opportunity to head up into the Warby's for a bit of a drive around and explore.
We got close enough to this one so I decided to head on up and find it.
At GZ it was an easy find, and surprised to find an old full Melbourne Bitter stubby sitting with the cache!
Equally surprised when I opened the log book to realize how old the cache is. I loved seeing all the old written comments in the book and seeing how many people before me had enjoyed the location.
It was a great place to see the setting sun tonight amidst all the terrible and icy weather around today.

Excellent one - I think the oldest cache I've found! So I left a TB and given it a Fave point! TFTC!
#1877 This is one of those caches we have been wanting to do for a while. This evening after an early dinner we headed up to make the find. A very pleasant walk to GZ in the open woodland until we reached the granite boulders. A nice quick find, so we sat on the boulders whilst we signed the log and watched the setting sun for a while, just beautiful. This is the 2nd oldest cache we have found to date, thanks for placing it robcw.
Found during a one-week roadtrip, caching around Mt Buffalo and surrounds (very wide surrounds ).
I targeted mostly non-traditional cache types and older caches. And this cache is certainly one of Australia's oldest!
After checking several maps I found a road that got quite close to GZ, and managed it relatively easily and carefully with my 2WD.
The walk to GZ was wonderful - I really enjoy this bushland.
Thanks, robcw.

Heading home from the Melbourne Mega, I decided to take a break and look for this older cache. Hmmm....no through road this way. My map shows that the road goes through. Perhaps I should try approaching from the other side. Its a long way round, but worth a try. So I drive many kilometres to bet to the other side, only to find that I have ended up on private property! I apologised profusely to the lady and told her that my map showed the road continuing past here. She said that many maps showed this, but they aren't accurate. With another apology, I headed back the way I came. I then pulled over to look if there was another way to access the cache. Nope. Guess I go to the no through road and see how far I have to walk from there. I knew Rhyssa6 was not too far behind me, so I called her and asked if she would like to join me. We met at the agreed spot and continued on in my car. Oh look, this road does actually take us quite close to the cache, despite the no through road sign! I found a spot just off the road to park and we set off up the hill on foot. Through the long grass and the flowers we went. Once out the other side we spotted where we needed to go. I took the low road and Rhyssa6 took the high road. We both searched a couple of spots and then I spotted a possible hiding spot right where Rhyssa6 was standing. She checked but no cache. Then she spotted the cache about 2 metres away from where I suggested that she look! We added our names to the logbook, then made our way back to the car, pleased to have added an older cache to our list of finds during our trip to and from the Melbourne Mega. TFTC
Driving to Canberra today as I make my home to Brisbane from the Melbourne mega and a friend who was also driving the same route called to see if I wanted to meet up with her to find this cache. I left my car at our meeting point and we drove as close as we could in her car, then it was a 200 metres walk up the hill to the cache area.
I went one way and she went another and after a few minutes she called up and asked me to check a spot just below me. Nope, nothing there but looking to one side a bit I spotted a familiar container. I pointed it out to her and she groaned. It was in plain sight less than 2 metres to the left of where she was looking! lol!
We laughed about 'cacher vision' and added our names to the log before heading back down the hill.
Great to see such an old cache still in fine shape. Wish I'd had time to visit Glenrowan but that will have to wait for another trip.

After staying with my Aunty and Uncle at nearby Coolah and introducing them to the world of caching, hubby , kids and i head off to Dubbo. We have now dropped off hubby to catch the bus back to Cobar to work in the mine, while the kids and I travel back to Melbourne to finish off the school holidays. After a good night sleep, we set off for the last leg of our trip back to Melbourne. Had not any caches for a few hours and realized one of my bookmarked older caches was on the way home. Took the over half hour detour to this cache. And took the kids bush walking in the beautiful sunshine and up the hill. Found the cache with a little search and retrieved TB and managed to navigated back to the car. Thanks for bring us here. Due to the time we did not do another cache today. TFTC.

This cache is what geocaching is all about for me. Great location, somewhere I would not normally have gone to. The cache itself is in an excellent state with a dry log and contents because the CO has used an ammo can, not a plastic food container. This will ensure that the cache will survive the elements for a long time to come. Thanks Rob Williams.
This one was a little tougher than I thought. I found the correct road despite my car's GPS and all its failings. Then I had a 'round the mulberry bush-type walk and was very glad to get my eye on the cache. I was quite relieved. I left a Ned Kelly TB and a beautiful kangaroo which I rescued from another cache as it was exposed to the elements there. I hope someone will love this beautiful toy. Thanks for the cache.
Until today, there were 62 caches in Victoria that I had yet to find that pre-date my 'caching birth' and this was one of them. With our long weekend of bushwalking up in this general area and a passenger free 4WD at my disposal, there would never be a better time to have a try for it so that, therefore, made this one a priority for the trip home.
Somehow I found a track in (not sure if I was supposed to be on it but there you have it [8)]) and before long I found myself approximately 200 metres to the west of GZ. After a shortish walk uphill, a brief search had me with the stash in hand at 13:30 to close out this pre-birther.
An absolutely wonderful spot steeped in history that ended up with me looking over my shoulder half expecting Ned to come out of hiding and challenge my presence. Well worth a fave point.
TNLNSL, although a few of our geocoins had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Rob Williams.

What a great day, sunny and not too hot yet for a walk in the Warbys. Met the owner of the local vineyard who lives near the start of the walking track. He told us you could drive up further and stop, which we did and were only 300m from GZ. Walked up the top and found cache quickly, then went over a bit further and got a some photo's on the vineyard from above before heading back down t0 the little stream and enjoying some of the local inhabitants. Thanks for bringing us up here robcw, well done.

When we left on this trip through Victoria to Canberra and return, we thought that there was an outside chance of reaching 9000 finds (GC+GA) on the trip. As time went by we became more confident that we could achieve this goal and we looked for a suitable cache for this milestone. We chose this cache, Ned Kellys Hideout, because it was published in October 2001 and it linked with a significant character in Australian history. Today we parked our car about 800m from the cache and walked along a bush track for some distance. The wild flowers and birds along the way made for a great walk but the cicadas made such a racket at times that we could not talk to one another. Once we got within about 200m of the cache we left the track and made a direct line for the cache. Walking was easy - low grass and open country. We got to GZ, had a quick look around and found the cache without difficulty. The cache and it's contents were in good condition. After rehiding the cache we took time to look at the views across the plains below - very impressive and we contemplated how Ned and his associates could have used the vantage point to their advantage. We then set off on the return walk and got back to the car very satisfied that we had completed an excellent cache for our 9000th find. TFTC robcw. It earns a favourite from us.
Out for a drive to Ned Kelly's Hideout today and grabbing the odd additional cache on the way.
Came from Goughs Bay this morning to fill a gap in my Jasmer challenge. Approached from the west for a short walk up the hill. Nice countryside, nice views, quick find with coordinates spot on. Stopped for lunch and lubrication just down the road at Auldstone on the way out. Very pleasant trip.

What a trip!! We first came in the wrong way and private land stopped us! We went right around! Finally found after a steep walk, i would probably class this as a higher terrain. TFTC
Wow great views ended up going in the wrong end of baileys rd not knowing it was baileys rd finally found after a serious cross country hike up to GZ was glad when we finally made it although I thought terrain and difficulty should be a bit higher TFTC

With the Transit of Venus today, I was heading north for the prospect of perfect weather for the event. I initially had no real plans of where to stop the night, but while chatting to Blacklegend on the way I eventually ended up travelling all the way to Tocumwal and crashing on the couch at his place for the night, after a few UDL's of course.
We'd viewed the initial stages of the transit for a couple of hours from the primary school BL's kids go to. We showed the kids, teachers and parents through the scope and camera Venus as it crossed the sun and they were all quite impressed.
We then headed back to Marshies place and I picked up a few caches along the way, then started heading for home. I wanted to collect this cache due to the fact it hadn't been found for a long time (required for a challenge cache down my way) and it was in an interesting location.
I drove in as far as I could and left the car at the gate before heading cross-country and up the hill to GZ. Was glad to reach the top and find the nice big cache right where it should be; and where I could sit and have a breather while signing the log. Great location and views.
Thanks robcw.

7 of 8 for the day. 4 yo Goekids James and Jemma in tow. Had previously had a crack at this one, early on in my caching career, and was thwarted by a myriad of problems including private property signs where the road should be "Crown land". Anyway, thats another story, and today was the day i was going to complete this one.
Parked at a spot which seem to be the closest. (S 36.22.584 E 146.11.723) Coordinates of what i believe it the closest and easiest approach to the cache, reading only about 380m direct line from this spot. You will need to approach the cache by driving in from the Taminick / Thoona side to access this parking. Just hope it makes it a bit easier for someone, since i had such a crappy time getting to this spot,
Being wary of slithery things on a warm sunny day, i grabbed the backpack, and plenty of water, and the camera, and headed off to GZ. Got about 200m up the path, and had to deviate off into the bush for the next 220m, and climb uphill at what seemed like an ever increasing steepness.
In the end, got to GZ and was rewarded with a nice large ammo can hide, and an excellent view, which i took photos of (of course). Kids loved it, and James even said on the way down " That was a good one Daddy..." to which i had to agree.
Cheers and TFTC. A very recommended cache.

Great location! Nice 360 views of the surrounding area. No wonder Ned liked to hide up here
Found on a beautiful sunny day today! We must have fluked the right entrance because Big Ez only had a 300m walk to GZ.
A nice climb up to the cache with beautiful views and a mini waterfall with a bit of water running over the big rocks!
We also seen a few bunnies about today!
Many thanks for bringing us to this both historical & beautiful spot!

Unfortunately, three attempts to get to the locale of this cache failed facing, in two cases, private property signs and in the third case one of those pesky MVO tracks with a locked gate. This was the closest we came to the cache, but with light failing, light rain and a 1.5km walk called for, we called it quits for the day.
Will try it again from the West on a future occasion.

Found at 12.00pm with Lostmonster and Co, not realising they had done this cache 2 years ago!! That was a nice heartpumping walk! Took Car that Lostmonster and Co placed in there 2 years ago for Geolad to play with! Left Sweatband! TFTC and a lovely walk!
