Logs
Looked for it using an old archive dowloaded to my phone. Now I see it has GONE, I don't feel so bad!
A plan was hatched for another extreme, fly down, drive back caching weekend. funkymunkyzone, alpenmilch80 and myself flew down to Wellington on the first flight Saturday morning. We met up with vista at Petone in the Toyota Yaris rental car, as he'd flown down the previous day. We headed straight out of town and made a beeline for the start of our route at Featherston. We zig zagged our way through Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki on our way back home to Auckland. To save time and log space, we stamped the logs as "Team AMFV".
Our 1500km / 40 hour drive consisted mainly of narrow gravel roads, some of which had spectacular scenery and views. Sorry for the copy/paste logs as its now all abit of a blur having only a few short naps in between. Many thanks to all the cache owners who have placed caches for us to find on another epic little adventure.
We spent a bit of time here looking for this one and came up empty. Without a defined hint, we didn't replace as we weren't sure where the cache should have been.

Another fly-down-drive-back-caching weekend, this time in the company of mike-miss, alpenmilch80 and vistra. Three of us flew down very early on Saturday morning and met up with the other who had flown down the previous day. We headed straight out of Wellington, stopping just once to rendezvous with the other member of the team. We cached our way through the Wairarapa, Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki under the moniker "Team AMFV" (google it if you're interested, but it seemed appropriate for our mission).
We headed over the Rimutakas and started off with a loop of Lake Ferry before heading north and out into the back blocks.By the evening we were up around Masterton and heading back out into the sticks, criss-crossing Route 52 picking up cache finds along crazy little roads, the craziest of which were around Pongaroa, from where we headed back down and across to SH2 just north of Eketahuna, coming over the insane hills at Pori just after dawn. Spectacular.
We all piled into our little Toyota Yaris rental car, which had probably never seen such terrain before in its life, judging by the amount of clanging of metal on stones, and scraping of underbody on metal road centre. All part of the fun though, and nothing like taking 40.5 hours (with basically no sleep), over 1500km, to get from Wellington to Auckland, stopping at 288 caches along the way - 173 on Saturday and 115 on Sunday. I enjoy driving long distances, so I drove for about the first 25 hours plus a few more hours later on Sunday - also because I had designed the route so I knew fairly well the way we were going, and this time we made no mistakes!
Sorry for the largely copy/paste logs, but it's hard work remembering all the different caches. Some stood out from the others but we enjoyed every single one of them and were thankful for every single placement along the way. This trip, and the company, was fantastic and a fun but shatteringly tiring weekend.
Great view here, but no cache that we could find. Without a hint, we couldn't confirm whether it was definitely gone (or there) so we didn't replace it.

Found the cache today it was full of water, managed to tip most of it out and tried to dry the contents as best as I could.
The logbook is totally saturated and the replacement one is not going to stay dry for long, may need some TLC as the contents needs replacing, another great spot for a cache, thanks for bringing me here.

[green] Popmac rings me up, wanting to do a raid on Skindoland. We bring in super-new cacher Bright_Jun and sneak in under the cover of darkness. We left Palmy at 6am, attacked the natives of Skindoland with a relentless assault lasting 15 hours (including an hour off for tea and crumpets at the Pongaroa Picnic Event), travelling over 450km. We even had spare petrol in the boot, because there were no shops where we went. We defeated over 90 of the little blighters, not even a decimation. I bet the lords of Skindoland won't even notice.
Maybe the oracle was right. The weather is clearing up. But man, is it cold. I was not really prepared for this. While the others are assaulting the local stronghold. I am taking pictures, and shivering. Photo attached.

Planned a huge day caching. Left at around 6.30 and started heading to pongaroa to the event. 40 caches on the way there then realized we couldnt do the rest we planned or we would be late. So headed a different way. After the Lunch we had another huge list of caches to get but got to pongaroa and petrol station wasnt open, 1 1/2 hours to masterton or 45 mins to pahiatua or dannivirke....hmmm that stuffs that plan up, should have thought about that earlier opps. So headed straight back to dannivirke and missed out a huge chunk of our planned trip. Thanks for a cache owners of all the ones we found along our trip.

A day caching with the Seagnoid and Bright_Jun on our way to Pongaroa Picnic Event in Skindoland. Very cold wind and the log was too wet to sign. Thanks for the cache.
Called here after finding the caches along nearby Rimu Road. A quick find - there was water in the cache and the logbook is sodden but fortunately I use a pen that writes well on wet paper and I as able to sign it. TFTC!
A MEGA Adventure
Both Nova Lightning and myself had set ourselves caching targets that we were hoping to meet in time for the NZMEGA in a few weeks. So with a plan in progress and fuel in the tank away we set.
Departed home at 6pm Friday, returned home 3.30pm Monday, 7 hours sleep approx 470 caches and a great adventure.
Thanks to all those that have placed caches especially Skindo as I think we gave his caches a bit of a nudge
Thanks for a great weekend of Caching and Bull.

Mega Weekend
It all started about a month ago when Cats&Dragons brought up the idea of heading down the line to collect 350+ caches. We both had targets that we wanted to meet before attending the NZ Mega. Plans and locations were drawn up and puzzles were begun to be solved. It took me a while to get my head around a few of the puzzles and with the help of a cacher I was soon on a roll.
The weekend finally came and we departed Hamilton at 6pm on a Friday night. 3days, 2,000km, & 11hrs sleep, later 472 caches collected. Thanks to all those who's caches I found especially Skindo with a huge number laid.

Found by travelling buddy who had checked out most hiding places a few days before, hm the only hiding place!!! Container was almost full of water and the log book drenched, just managed to sign the log. Seal on box must be ineffective.
last one for the day but wasnt to be had a good search but only found dumped carcass bodies
Good day to be out finding caches in the area with tmann421 found after a short search TFTC
#4614. After reading Ginarley's log, I was on the alert for the various hazards mentioned, but cutty grass was the only one I spotted. Took us a while to locate, but it was a spot with good views, so we didn't mind the extra searching time. TFTC.
Took quite a bit of looking to find this - tiredness had set in plus the lack of caffeine was taking effect too.
Great views, thanks for making us stop. TFTC.

A great place for a stop although not the most pleasant cache today between the boar carcass, docked lambs tail, cutty grass, flies and rain! A quick find after dodging the hazards though, TFTC
Only one place it could be really. Found after a short search.
Container was full of water. Dried it out as best we could.
Left a pet rock - a dog. TFTC

Glad that this was a straight forward find in the sun as it was blowing a gale up here today.
Found today with my Son on a caching trip East of Palmerston North. 5th of 14 finds. Very windy up here today but an easy find. Signed Log, Left Signature trade item. TFTC
A nice view. It was a quite cold and windy up here compared to the other cache locations around Pongaroa.
Thanks.
Thanks.
A quick easy find with nzcoozer, with little Miss nzcoozer (Hayley) retrieving the cache. It was very windy up here this afternoon. TFTC
Yay, FTF! The highlight to “Lookout” was the journey there. Superb scenic drive with marvelous views of the landscape looking northwards. The road was easy to drive on as it was not a gravel but occasionally stony. Thanks Skindo for the cache.
