By the looks of things there has been a huge amount of water through here in the last wee while. Might be time for the CO to check if the cache is still were it is supposed to be.
We (my brother-in-law his three boys, myself and my boy) looked for about half an hour with no joy.

Wow, very difficult and the description and hint were a bit pointless. Was hoping to leave tb here but could not find
Loved the Secret Waterfall and there was a resident 'tour guide' :a little girl whose family is camping there and may well have muggled the cache. We went all the way up to the top of the waterfall and either side when not too steep or treacherous, but no sign of it.
Well didn't find this and was really scary coming down here looking for it I am only a kid!
I had this fear of falling down in the waterfall!
Will try again next time!
Happy hunting.

Had a quick look for this today after a picnic lunch at Otawai, daughter (Stripes NZ) and i had no luck today.
We climbed high and low looking for this cache, but couldn't spot it anywhere! Oh well...another time.
A trip from Rotorua to Whakatane (for a Greek Lesson) and then on to Tauranga. Another lovely day on the road and a few caches to boot. Thanks for placing them.

Used adjusted coordinates suggested from a previous log and went straight to it. It was a long distance from where I went searching about a year ago. The cache was in the open so I shifted it 2 meters closer towards the cliff. Tucked under and slightly covered with local material. It might stay hidden from prying eyes over the summer months. The log is damp but I had no trouble writing on it in pen. TFTC

Well that was harder than it should have been. We sent scarmbling all sorts of places until we read the logs, who told us the coordinates were wrong. This needs fixing. The hint wasn't much use either because it all depends on what direction the target is approached from! Found the cache where I didn't expect it, kind of out in the open. Quite damp inside it's not the first time I notice this particular type of container leaking...

Spent a lot of time scrambling around the rocks in the area trying to find this. Not in any obvious place so we resorted to some log reading (hint not useful)... agree - please fix the coordinates in the cache itself. Cache itself needs some checking and TLC, it's a bit wet and very much out in the open (was this intended?). Nice waterfall anyway.
I had found this with frewilys last year and at first I could not find it where I expected. Its been moved about 2 meters closer to the sea.thanks.
What a mission. Followed the path up to what looked like the waterfall, a bit small though so followed down a bit. Decided this was too hard so went out to the beach to re think. Followed the coordinates in again to no avail. Decided to read a couple of logs and realised we were too far in and started looking from the beach end. Found it after a few minutes and checked the GPS. Grahame Cookie's coordinates much better.
Thanks for the adventure. Loved it.

After scrambling up to places I shouldn't have scambled to from the beach I checked some logs and found some alternative coordinates in the logs (thanks Graham Cookie) that made life a lot easier
Many thanks

Found the cache - it did get a bit wet (my fault - dropped it in the stream!) but dried it off as well as we could so hopefully no lasting damage...
Found on a walk along Kohi Point with Mum and Dad and Granny'ma and my little brother.
Granny'ma cleaned all the rubbish out of it that someone had left there.
Thank you for the cache

A successful revisit to this one --- great to find as we were close to completing our Kohi Point walkway jaunt --- the EBOP at its best on a sunny day

Note--- We cleaned out the container. It is a shame that other cachers had put rubbish like an old box of matches, stale almond/nuts, packaging off Elastoplast etc in it!

Found this after some slithering and scrambling, then realised it was much easier than that. Got a pair of sooty oystercatchers VERY grumpy when we walked past their chick. Came in from the beach side which must be safest.

Wonderful spot! Would not have found this place. Great hiding spot. Nice and easy near beach entrance. Kids loved it. Cheers.
Found it today on our way back from walking this end of the Toi track. Fabulous walk, quite challenging but well worth the huffing and puffing . . . . . TFTC
What a beautiful place, used Graham Cookie's co-ordinates so it was a quick find on our way back from visiting the waterfall. t4tc
Found it, and signed the book and left a cool Christmas tree decoration. My three Grandchildren enjoyed the experience. 16:12:13
Took a while went waaay to far in, don't climb the waterfall
And be careful on the rocks.

0820 Had a look around for about an hour widening the search, then going back again to GZ, until something seemed out of place about 20m from GZ so inspected that area a bit more thoroughly, and sure enough, there is a cache - The Cache. While a correct site marker could have fitted it is against my practice when the coordinates aren't within 10 metres at least. TNLNSL

Just got some wi-fi so trying to catch up on some logging.
Love coming out here, and will miss the great excuse for exercise in such beautiful scenery when I found all the caches. This one was not easy to find as the clue didn't explain which side they expected you t be on. And the coordinates in the end seemed to be out at least 15 m. On the up-side it is a nice sized cache cache. Dry and all good there. TNLN

Fascinating little spot, but like the waterfall, the cache location is still a secret from us.
Searched at the wrong Falls but due to other logs I got it at the end. Thanks for showing.
Cache # 2 on our walk around the point on a lovely sunny Sunday. We did this one the hard way and followed the GPS up the hill until only one of us would go any further. At that point we sat down and reread the previous logs and figured that we were waaaay too high and in fact the cache was at the bottom. Stand in the stream near the beach and let your geocaching senses take over . TFTC surfknight. A great little secret spot.
Found this lovely cache when actually looking for another cache! It was found by a newbie to caching who has proved the has quite a nose for it. Left a tb that I've had for far too long - apologies and happy travels!
Out for the day with Squirrel Nutcase for an assault on Geckoh territory. Glad to have the Squirrel to hold my hand here. Thanks Hemi. The finish must be in sight.
Thanks surfknight.
Thanks surfknight.
Teamed up with Spiderhouse to try and knock off a few more Eastern Bay caches. The weather held long enough for us to launch our assault...
On a mission to find the TGC caches. This was a formality... I've been here before, so it was a matter of getting Spiderhouse onto the log. Luckily for them, they didn't have all the hassles we did with the coords.

Took a while to find but got it in the end. No reception for my iPhone so took a while.

Headed out early for a epic days caching, 12 hours and 52 caches, not to sure about the other stats about the day, but I've definitely deserved a beer.
Got close to where the GPS was leading me, but couldn't see any hidey holes. Read the logs and followed what the previous finder did. Found the cache in a obvious location. Should of got some more coords for the next finder in hind sight.
Note for next finder: If you can't see the beach you've gone to far, and re-read the clue.

Coordinates took us to the base of the waterfall and told we still had 10 meters to go. So we climbed and searched for ages but there was no where we could see for a cache to hide. We basically gave upand started to walk back down the stream leaving the waterfall behind. However we happened to glance across the stream further down and saw some likely hidey holes. With nothing to lose we had a look and to our amazement, 21 meters from where our GPS wanted us to go, we found a large geocache container! Not sure what the problem was as the GPS had been working well earlier in the day, having bagged a dozen GCs so far. Thanks anyway for the hunt.
TFTC... absolutely fantastic... i love this part of the area.. a little discussed about the human rubbish in and about whilst hunting.... come on guys, we took what we could...
Kiwi69 and I decieded that this was our challenge, so made an early start for Whakatane from home. It's The day is a warm one.
we had to head back to this one as talking too much and over shot the GZ. Nice spot to enjoy and getting greatful for the shade the GZ offers

Out & about caching in Whakatane with C&D, with Toi's circuit as our main objective for the day. We hadn't realised this section of the walk was affected by the tide & I was soaked (much to C&D's amusement!) by the time we'd rock-hopped to near here. An easy approach from the beach, co-ords were a bit out for us but there was only 1 giant ... A lovely spot, TFTC
This was a bit of a mission. We initially went up the track and tried to reach the published coordinates from there, but after a while decided we were getting nowhere, so checked out previous logs, and found Tramper Ted’s much more accurate coordinates of S37 57.035 E177 01,152, and also realized the better approach was from the beach. Armed with this new knowledge, we quickly found the cache, with karma reprint. They then left to return around the road, while we returned along the walkway. The return trip took us 1 hour 12 minutes, with unexpected rain starting about 10 minutes before we reached the car, but fortunately we didn’t get too wet. The whole trip, including 17 caches took us 4 hours 40 minutes. TFTC
Day 3 of the trip home to Christchurch, Whakatane to Te Araroa. I went to GZ, the middle of an unstable slope. WEKA went to the previous logs and got some better coords, and soon had the cache. We went our separae ways after this, WEKA went back the way we came and we went up the road to the Toi Pa cache. Who got back to the car first? Thanks for the hide
Thankyou surfknight , for a very good walk from "Westend to Hillcrest.TFTC

A beautiful Eastern Bay day. Made our lunch. Mum, the kids and I are all set to clean up the new caches in the area.
Came over from Westend. Had intended to do the rest of the Nga Tapuwae o Toi Caches today, but found it a bit disorienting. Trying to find tracks marked on maps that no longer exist. Will have to come back.
Walked up the path past the toilets. Veered off the path above the falls to a likely point. All the time, I worried about slipping or falling. No cache in that location. Read through Tramper Ted's log, and loaded those coords. The cache was a quick, safe find after that. TFTC.

Had a good look around and only found a green lid off a plastic container.
Is it stll there????
Is it stll there????
Determined not to leave this time without a find, as we failed last time - GPS was way out for us, but pretty much threw the GPS away and followed the clues
Yes found it this time - as NZ Biscuit said - gave up on the GPS and followed the clue - Beautiful spot TFTC
Checked cache today all still there. Dont no where they found the mess, area all still clean and tidy. Surfknight
Second DNF of the day sorry to say, but will be back as the tide was not quite right to get another in the area
No luck with this one either - will have to come back - maybe we were looking too high
DNF - Came the tough way from ohope west end... No luck with this one but the area is a bit of a mess and slowly recovering / rebuilding. Pile of human p00 at base of first tree that hindered the search! We'll be back. TFTC Felix!
It was definitly not the easiest trip down to the beach but we managed. Nice quik find considering the weather tftc.
No success here. Found a blue plastic lid and also saw a significant slip in the vicinity.
Nice place this, the kids and mum went for a swim before the walk back up. Nice easy find. Thanks
It took us a while to find this one, but we had two hours to kill waiting for the tide to go out enough to continue walking back to whakatane via Kohi Point. Enjoyed exploring the secret waterfall. Thanks
Love this beach but never been to these 'falls. Took us a while to find cache, as we climbed all over the various falls & pools looking for good locations. iPhone GPS useless under trees. For Lani. Thnks
Didn't find the cache but the Waterfalls are well worth the walk over and a visit. Left this till late in the day as it was so hot, too hot to be walking up and over the hill. Had a quick look for the cache but enjoyed discovering all the small and bigger Waterfalls, great location and thanks for bringing us here. Added to a perfect holiday week at Ohope Something Special
Went to the co-ordinates and searched, searched and searched, but nothing. Then Mr TT applied a bit of logic - and found the cache! Better co-ords are S 035, E 152. Person camping in the bush nearby! Great spot though. TFTC
2 of 2 on our New Years day walk around the point. Apologies to the person requesting info about the TB. I didn't look in the container myself, just signed the book when it was handed to me. Didn't know at that time of the request.
Did a lot of bush bashing in the area but were a bit confused about where to search as there is many waterfalls along the stream. Another hind would be great.
Would the next finder of this cache be able to check if my Double Dutch TB is still in the cache - or whether the logbook shows where it might be?? Many thanks from the UK
Found after a little bush-bashing on the wrong side - need to read clues more, gps less! A lovely waterfall though, TFTC. TNLN
Have been to these falls a few years ago. Only one other person on the beach. Worth the walk over.
Didn't take long to find it. Lovely to be back at the little cove again!
Left a pet rock - a swan. TFTC
Left a pet rock - a swan. TFTC
PLEASE READ due to the terrible flooding the track from West End cant be used so please use the other route down to the bay.
Used the clue, but didn't want to bush bash, plus it was a bit slippery. Another clue would really help. Moko was with a boat at the heads today.
Just where I thought it would be - tried to attract moko but got wet by waves instead
Very difficult - Good GPS readings a bit hard to get with all the trees, area hard to move around without taking a tumble. Waterfall very nice and hidden. Will come back another time and explore some more.
One of our more frustrating caches! Up hill and down waterfall only to not find it anywhere. We had to get back, so left it for today. We head south for home tomorrow, so may have to be another year...
Like Geckoh, saw this one come up, and decided to leave it to the morning. Made it way way harder than it needed to be. Eventually found it. TFTC
Quite tricky to conceal, when some others came wandering in just as we found it

This one came up at around 9.15pm and it was a case of should I, shouldn't I..... Decided I should so I went for it, parked up at the top by Otawairere village and walked down with a small torch, got down on the beach and found the way in to the waterfall, GPS was all over the place but tried first logical spot and Bingo, proved Geckoh can find them in the dark!!
Found at 9.41pm, no sign of Moko the dolphin although i'm sure he was watching me!!
