Staying at Burdekin Duck Roadhouse in the van due to the rain, we had time to solve the multi, the bridge looks like it may go under some time soon.. We raced out late today.. Gotcha.. back to the van.

On our way into charters towers a couple of days ago, we stopped at the flood marker and collected the numbers for this multi.
We were running a little late, and the light was fading, so we decided to come back today.
The rain had stopped by the time we arrived at GZ and we made a quick find.
This was a really good multi, and we are so glad that you showed us the flood marker.
A FP added.

After our week in Townsville for the mega we are heading out to Charters Towers for a few days before heading south for home!
Joined up with Hans and Linda and cached our way to CT via Ravenswood. Even with the temperature hanging around 36c we had a successful day with only one DNF.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides and showing many different places.

Wow, It's hard to imagine the water getting this high.

Completed our sums then realised we had to back track a little. Certainly not going to forgo this one.

Located and log signed. Back on the road again.

Out and about on the road with Swearah and jodsta83.

Love a quick little multi. And always amazed to see how high the water was.

Lucky for us there was a checker or we may have been looking in the wrong place

Thanks for the cache.

Making our way to Charters Towers today from Townsville with swearah and stephyy and grabbing a few caches along the way. Wow that is alot of water that passes through here at times. With the final coordinates loaded we headed to GZ where we made a nice quick find. Tftc corikra ️

19-Apr-22
Wowww. These levels are devastating.

I messed up on one of the numbers when calculating so we were happy there was a checker. Stephyy, jodsta83 and I were travelling through, so that error could have cost us a bunch of time searching the wrong spot otherwise. Phew!

At GZ, Stephyy picked the spot on approach and made the find.

Thanks for the informative multi, corikra

This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 11105.

It sure was busy out here today but I soon had the answers I needed and could be on my way. That would be a lot of water!
At GZ the cache was quickly found and signed.

Thanks corikra for the cache.

Lured up by the diversity a CITO and virtual on the hill
After a successful run around town, decided it was time to head back to Townsville
Ah ... what's a few more different finds on the way back
Stopped off here to marvel at the river heights [:o]
Got some numbers ... checked those collected numbers ...
Then ventured over to find the cache
All good here

Day 7 of our trek to the Townsville Mega and back with fitzy_1965 and two of my geo-kids Death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.

The long awaited day we drive into Townsville! We did a bit of caching around Charters Towers before leaving. Definitely some great caching there and some good Adventure Labs worth doing. A simple drive to Townsville: we are all happy to finally be here. The kids were very glad to have a quick dip in the pool at the Motel before some rest before all things Mega kicking off tomorrow.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

27,578. Found with minniek during our Grand Townsville Trek up to CacheQLD's Townsville Mega Event over Easter.

Day 7 of our Townsville Trek, and we cached our way around Charters Towers again during the morning, before doing the short journey to Townsville for the main event (literally !). A couple of neat Adventure Labs were completed, as well as their bonus caches (one a real doozy) plus some other must do caches along the way. This one was a fun Multi to do. Quick find once at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache, then continued along to the next cache on our list.

Thanks corikra !!

Geocaching has taken me on many adventures over the years all over Australia and overseas. It has also introduced me to a brilliant and diverse group of people, many of whom are now close friends.

Today I was lucky enough to be out and about so I targeted this cache.

Multis are usually not my thing, so it wasn't surprising to me to find a lot in my found database that hadn't been logged.

Sorry for the late log, but thanks for adding to the adventure!

Thanks corikra (F=2129 H=127) for placing this cache and adding to our game.

Thank you. We really enjoyed this multi.

Day 8 of the road trip to Townsville to with LuckyL10n and today it was a drive from Townsville out to Charters Towers.

A quieter day than others on the trip, but that was due to the different types. Puzzles, WIG's and Multi's were the order of the day. A couple of trads of course as went right past them....and we couldn't leave them could we?

Left CT around 2.30 and head for Cardwell to help fill in a few counties up towards Carins and the Tablelands. All up, another great day.

Thanks to all the CO's for the caches....they all help to make the trip a good time.

#13903 - 9:18:00 AM; Day eight of the Townsville Mega adventure with Sol de lune. Made it through to Townsville last night and headed out to Charters Towers to try our hand at the variety of cache types in the area today. Managed 30 finds for the day on the way to and from and around the town in Charters Towers, with one DNF. Cache types we found included Adventure Labs, Letterbox Hybrids, Trads, Multis, Unknown (Puzzle), Wherigos, a virtual and an earthcache. All caches were found in good order unless noted in the log and where required each has been signed L.L10n & Sdl or vice versa. Apologies for the largely generic logs [:o)] That sure is a lot of water!!!!! TFTC corikra Smile

I was invited on an early morning drive with Sheridan (from Jacs Team) and Vic (from Waz and Vic) for some caches in the Charters Towers area. We had no set plans, just a few on a wish list and a few we both had solved. It was again another fun day with these two ladies. I like caching with these two, the simplicity in our caching day, the stories, the banter and the laughs were just all day; nothing is a problem, thank you.

We collected some nice caches and a very different adventure lab on the way in from Townsville, we even left a fun little multi for our return home. The day saw us collecting a whereigo, some trads, a couple of old caches, some nice D/T caches. There was a virtual and a couple of puzzles, some more adventure labs, a bite to eat and a stop off to collect some Shinny little disc thingies. An absolute great day. All logs were signed with the three names and all caches replaced as found.
Thanks to all the CO’s for the hides.

We did this one on our way back home, a favourite point here for this cache

Like all geocachers, I’m taking the scenic, slow route to Townsville. Along the way we detoured for, amongst many others, this geocache.

Loving multi caches, we made sure we did this one!

Thanks for placing the cache corikra, without hiders the game wouldn’t exist.

**This Cache:**

After getting distracted halfway through solving this multi by pprass who I met nearby, I got back to work. He had found this cache back in 2013 so left me to it!

Enjoyed working out the coordinates, it is quite shocking how high the water gets here. Unbelievable really...!?

I soon had GZ solved, and had to jump back in the car and drive towards it. A quick find upon arrival!

**Today:**

Day 5 of my road trip from Canberra - Townsville Mega Event! Big Grin

Today was laid back, I had made excellent time and only needed to get from Pentland - Townsville! I spent almost the entire day in Charters Towers! I initially only had a couple of caches planned, but I fell in love with the caching and town itself and ended up spending all the time I could until I had to be in Townsville to meet someone at the airport!

Wow, caching in Charters Towers was just fantastic, super high quality hides and a very cool town with lots to see. It was a highlight of my trip!

TFTC,
Day 22 of our 2022 Northern escape tour via Normanton and Cairns to attend the Townsville MEGA. We used this pre event day to travel out to Charters Towers to complete our LGA areas visited planned for this trip. Still some to do post event heading south along the coast.
Amazing that at present, what is old is new again. The News needs to show people reality. They might accept then that they and not the Government are responsible for the choices they make.
Visited trackables.

Day 18 of my trip north from Adelaide.

Today was spent caching and sightseeing around Charters Towers. I had picked out the multis, puzzles, wherigos and traditional caches that I was keen to do and picked up a few other opportunistic traditional caches along the way. I also completed the new Lab caches in town.

All in all it was as a very pleasant day, with a cool morning and a relatively mild day, which made things much easier and more enjoyable. In all I managed to find 7 puzzles, 9 multis, 3 wherigos, 13 traditionals and an earthcache for a total of 33 caches for the day (plus the Lab caches). I only had one DNF.

Pretty amazing just how high the river can get in relation to the bridge. Cache was found in good order.

Thanks corikra for the cache.

Staying a few nights in Charters Towers this morning we visited the library to learn about the archives section to hopefully trace some family history here from the Pioneer days.

Lunch at the stock exchange cafe then off to explore some more of town.

TFTC. After setting up camp at Macrossan Park, we unhitched the car and took a short drive to the posted Co-ordinates. The river certainly came up high. We did their calculations and then drove to GZ. The cache was an easy find. The lid is cracked and if it does eventually rain the contents could get extremely wet.

03-Aug-17
Cleaning up a couple of more caches before leaving town, particularly multi's as they are with more tokens in the Geocaching Pirate hunt this week we then headed towards Ayr caching our way along.

This is one you wouldn't want to be looking for after a decent rain or the cache name would be quite correct but today there was no problem as it doesn't look as though it's rained here for quite awhile. Once we had the information we headed off to gz and we were very happy when the cache was located right where the GPSr was pointing and we sat adding our name to the log while taking in the fantastic scenery afforded here.

Many thanks corikra for the cache.

Found together with HDanske on our holiday to Australia, where we were on a roadtrip starting from Brisbane to Port Douglas. This was one of the many places we went to.

It's really hard for us to picture the amount of water there's been here during the different floodings. Seems unrealistic at first glance.

The cache itself was quickly spotted after gathering the required information.

In the many times I have crossed this bridge I have never seen it anywhere near in flood. Considering it last major flood was in 2009 , a time we would have been around. I think I saw photos that the teachers were posting of it. Anyway today I sat on the bank of the Burdekin and worked out the coordinates from a photo I took a few weeks back. Ok. Not right. Must have made a calculation error. Might have to do maths with Ratdog as she was doing school while I did puzzle solving for a few of the new Mackay puzzles.
I soon had the right numbers. After lunch we headed out. Today was 33* when we set off hot for winter. Cache was found but the sign nearby threw up a little.

We have been spending a week in Charters Towers and grabbing some caches while we tour around.

Today we were caching around Dotswood so this one couldn't be missed....and it definitely shouldn't be missed. The information at WP1 is almost unbelievableSurprised the mind fairly boggles thinking about the consequences of said information!!

After working out the coords and driving to GZ we thought that maybe we weren't going to be able to log a find because there was a trailer parked near GZ containing melons for sale and a truck on site. We continued up the hill to grab another hide and fortunately when we returned the truck had gone though the trailer was still there. the melon sales must be made with an 'honesty box' system.
We were then able to make a quick, discreet findBig Grin

Did not clear CT completely, realized that I would not do all the long multi caches today, on top of that I had some DNF's.

It's a long drive from the Isa to Townsville, but having made it this far and still having plenty of light left, I could afford to take it easy and look for another cache!

This one had my interest from last time I'd passed by. Lucky there was a gap in the traffic and I was able to pull right into the ideal spot.

The information was forthcoming quick enough, and after using the checksums (a REALLY good idea in my case...) it was time to head off in search of the cache.

I was able to pick the probable gz from the road. Cache was found without troubles.

Thanks for the effort and the cache, conkira Smile
