Out for the weekend Cacheing with @Smithiesoutbackgear. Love the Cache and was a good find. Cheers
Bit of a scrabble to climb up & on own so didn't really want to take a spill but got it regardless. In good nick & left as found. DJ
Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to Jimmymaff for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

SBOG suggested we stop here for a stretch on the way to Licola do we did. SBOG then pointed to GZ what could go wrong..well firstly my fear of heights and my short legs and me freezing mid way. Getting back down wasn't fun but it happened. Stealing myself I changed my shoes over and attempted a different assent to GZ I was much more comfortable taking this path and eventually we both made our way to GZ and the find didn't take too long. Going down for me was a typical Tiz13 slide...Thanks for the fun ...
Outrageous thing to do when it’s 35 and you’ve just descended from a nice 25 deg in the High Country. Nevertheless found an easy way up to a top spot to locate the cache. TFTC and the fun
Not sure if I was to climb a tree or the embankment but no joy today after much searching with no phone reception but a gps. Shame people have used the walk in as a toilet stop
A call was put out to see who wanted to go camping on the Labour Day long weekend, and I was very interested. Pretty soon it was confirmed that I was in, the only problem being I had no idea where we were going. With the experienced driver Smokey in charge, we got to Mt Wellington in the dark and fog and then down to Millers Hut at 9pm.
Saturday arrived and with Smokey's magnificent beast of a car pushed its way thru the bushes and up and over all the rock tracks that were just teaming down with water overflow, I was soon able to see just how remote we were. Up at The Sentinels and Gable End you could just see the entire world. For an hour we just sat on the sheer end of The Sentinels and admired this wonderful part of the world. We could clearly see Lake Tali Karng and it is looking very full.
Sunday had up moving camp and visiting The Pinnacles and you feel like you are on the top of the world, and so remote. That is until 2 different 4WD touring groups arived and turned the place into Flinders Street Station. That was the moment we rushed off to get away from people again. Smokey then had up Hut Hunting as we visited a number of the remote huts in the area before we found another camp site. It wasn't long after we set up camp when the rolling thunder started. Sitting under the tarps listening to the Titans on their cloud fortresses warring was cool, and when the rain hit, I was glad we were prepared. However we were still able to keep the fire going.
Such a great adventure, that I have to thank the Dirtbag President for. Big kudos for an awesome time.
Collected this one on the way back into civilization. Smokey stayed at the car, while I quickly made my way up and found the container. All in good condition here, and obviously I spent too long looking at all the names as Smokey thought I was still looking at yelled out.
Thanks for the cache Jimmy Maff

Great view and fun little scramble. Some nice flowers around at this time of year. TTFC.
Well that made us have a good stretch.
Obviously where the old road route went along... would have been a bit scared.
Very “lofty “ up here.
A photo can’t capture the “being” up here!

Ma and Pa dragon, out on a restful weekend after returning the now not so young dragon to a large educational establishment in Bundoora, are taking a roundabout route home to the dragon lair. What better way to spend some time but to find a few caches.
The road passing this cache is well used and we have passed here often. Today we stopped, and Ma dragon did the honours with the find. Interesting ascending, more so in the reverse.
Found this cache quite quickly after the initial work. The cache is in good condition and well hidden.
Signed the log and replaced the cache. TNLN

We spent a great weekend camping with the geokids on the Macalister River and finding geocaches around Glenmaggie, Heyfield and surrounds. Caches were signed/stamped between 25-27th, September. We found some really beautiful little spots around here! Thanks so much for placing and maintaining these caches This was a great little scramble and a fun find. Cache was dry and happy.
On an exploratory trip to licola this fine arvo and stopped here on the way back to camp. What a spot! Plenty of photos taken, and a precarious climb (in thongs... perhaps not enough forethought put in there!). chuckled at parallels between cache name and container. TFTC. Fav point for the view!
Jimmymaff I found your cache Devils Elbow on 28/12/19, 11:10 am. This is my find 2471 and find # 1 today. On the way up to Licola to camp for the night. Beautiful views from here. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN
Travelling with a muggle friend to explore Licola area Christmas day. Merry Christmas. Lovely views even if smokey and dry. Cache was found without lid but in good condition. Awfully rocky up here. Tftc
Beautiful view, steep climb up but definitely worth it. Nice to see snow as well
Stretch the legs? Mine are smashed from Howitt. This was gruelling! However the views were an absolute gem so can't complain.
Exploring wonderful natural areas, finding a few caches along the way - what a great way to spend a few days with great mates.
While the initial plans were for a long weekend south-east on Mount Howitt the latest forecasts of harsh weather had us detouring north to Mt Buffalo instead. It was a good alternative - the weather was mild and we had a great time in the area for a few days. We ended up getting to Mt Howitt after all when the weather outlook improved.
After 5 days in the mountains we started heading home today via Licola.
This was an enjoyable break. I was looking around the bottom road until I read the hint, then a quick little scramble to GZ and the cache was found.
Thanks, Jimmymaff.

Exploring the high country with good company. Was glad to break up the massive hikes with a few easier drive by finds! Tftc!
Hubby and I had planned to come up this way to walk into the Event that was to be held at Gantner's Hut tomorrow night. The fact that it had been archived didn't stop us coming up, as my secondary aim, probably my first priority, was to manage a smilie at Howitt Hut. These caches along the way certainly were bonuses, so thanks Jimmymaff. The find here was a little more precarious for us as we are towing a large caravan. We managed to pull in and out again without too much trouble and now the log carries my name although it may have been signed SG. A steep little climb to grab it though.
On the way back from camping nth of Licola for a couple of nights grabbed some caches this being one of them. Thanks Jimmymaff FTC. I needed to stretch the legs but not to this extent ,higher T rating but that's just my opinion.
With giraffe_legs while stopped to stretch our legs. Love the view from here. Tftc
Lucky I had the crew with me today who were better with rocks and height than me. I probably could have done it if I had looked for the better spot to start. The enjoyed the challenge. We did this on our way home from Licola. Tyftc
We headed up to Licola for a drive and grab a few of the local caches as we went, this being one of them.
A quick easy find here after a bit of rock hopping, so all good so far. The view from here is amazing this morning, thanks for bringing us here jimmymaff.

I was on my way home after a memorable overnight hike to 'Maggies Climb'. I remembered seeing a smiley here and pulled in to check it out.
I didn't really assess my options and simply went the frontal assault to climb this rock, but I needn't have been so brazen, lol.
The views from the top were gorgeous. But the stiffening wind indicated a change in the weather wasn't far away.
It was a nice location to reflect on where I'd been overnight.
Thanks again, Jimmymaff. This has been an incredibly memorable trip to Licola.

On our way to a camping weekend at Licola with our geo friends and stopped to do this cache on the way. Mr Pooky and Mr Geofriend clambered up the hill and Mr Geofriend soon found his first cache. After signing the log and admiring the views we were soon on our way. TFTC TNLN.

Tftc! Found today while we were driving through, geo hubby made the climb for me or no doubt i would have dnf this one hehe. We have driven around this area for so many years but geo caching has definately given us the gift of stopping and enjoying the view!
I had a good look around the area but decided against an attempt as I was alone and my fitness level is almost non existent. Would love to try it one day
A quick find after a little scramble. Kids were wrapped to find a bigger cache and made trades while dad filled out the log book. This was to be the beginning of the first of many great views we would have through out the day. I am fascinated with the geology in the area and can't wait to explore more.

That period between Christmas and New Year has arrived and with no family commitments, I decided on a few days in the Licola area. The weather was looking fantastic, possibly even too hot, so I loaded up the Suby with every piece of camping gear I considered useful, a few nights meals and 20 litres of water. My main target was the Mystery Climb, but also the other caches along the way.
This was the first cache of the trip, and the first time out of the car in a few hours and it was already quite hot. The cache did not present too much of a problem and soon enough I was back in the cool aircon of the car.

Found on the way home from the long weekend in the licola regions exploring some great tracks/mountains. A view too breathtaking to put into words. Sun shining through the clouds snow peaked mountains just stunning. Great spot for a cache. Needs some maintenance was a bit damp tried to cover it up to make it more protected from the elements. Heading up to the high country with Mrs Bear clear sky's Suns warm , what a great view TFTC
It's been a few years since I've been up here and stopped at this lookout but it's always worthwhile because of the stunning scenery. Today was no exception with the brilliantly sunny autumn day giving a clear view of the valley and distant mountain ranges. Found the cache of course after a bit of a scramble upwards which also allowed me to get extra photos of the views.

Easter long weekend brought with it a perfect opportunity to get out of the usual cache hunting grounds and into fresh pasture. yellowdaisy135 and I found ourselves all the way up on Mt. Howitt, in the Alpine National park. Its a truly beautiful area and thanks to all the cache owners for helping to bring us out here to get in amongst it. It wasn't our most successful trip in terms of numbers, but it was certainly one of the best.
A quick scramble up got us to this one without too much stress. Was good to stop and get out of the car for a minute or two.

Finally able to record a find thanks to some mountain climbing assistance from Colin58. Magnificent views. TFTC
I planned to search for this one on the drive home from Licola, while waiting for geo-husband to catch up on his bicycle (I rode up, he rode down the hills). But after arriving at Devil's Elbow and assessing the terrain, I decided to accept my physical limits and not risk life and limb with an attempt of the climb. Enjoyed the view!
Stopped off on our way up to the snow at Mt Reynard, we often go past this point but never get tired of the great views. TN Left TB in the hope that more people will stop and admire the view. TFTC

I had just dropped my Geo son & his Partner off at McFarlanes Saddle, and was heading back home after doing the "Billy Goat Gruff", "Sweet Pinnacle of Fire" & "Lookout for Lions" caches. Note: To get to the "Billy Goat Gruff" & "Sweet Pinnacle of Fire" caches; the bridge is closed at Little River and there is a river crossing but I would not recommend it for 2WD's.
I found a fairly easy way up to the cache but getting back down was going to be the tricky bit
TNLN the cache was a bit damp from condensation I dried it out a best I could.

Found on the 10-10-10! Can't believe the trouble the GPS had along this bit of road. It was indicating positions randomly jumping south of Tasmania to well north of Australia and everywhere inbetween. It wasn't until we stopped completely that it settled. A bit of a scramble until we found the better access to GZ to be rewarded with magnificant veiws of the valley. Took TB and left TB. Thanks Jimmymaff for a devil of a cache.

9.00am Xambo4u was running and First Aid course at Licola for the CFA and I had some time to fill in. Being in July and having experienced some very bitter weather in Melbourne I came well prepared with snow gear for the weekend. To my suprise we had the most glorious sunny nice days. The surrounding area is truly lovely to see as its recovering from the fires, floods and mudslides from 2006. Well worth a visit or a stop off on the way through.
Parking off to the side I took the sharp but short walk to the top. Nice easy find. Took time to reflect the beautiful vews it had to offer.

Well - this cache has a story that just has to be told.....Yesterday, being Sunday, we headed off to Licola and beyond. On the way we stopped and placed a pre-planned cache at this very location....well, 10 metres away and then feeling pretty pleased with ourselves travelled on. After a couple of caches and a fair hike we returned home and turned the 'puter on to log our finds and submit the 'new' cache at this spot. We logged in to Geocaching and; *&%^$@#%^^(*%^$.....beaten to a hide (and a find - but different story ) by Jimmymaff - now after the intial name calling and shock......and much laughter by Mrs E...and the geokids......ah, the dilemma!
In the light of the new day the choice was simple - drive back up to our cache and retrieve it and do a FTF on Jimmymaffs - which is exactly what we did!
I must confess to the evil thoughts of leaving our cache there too - just to see if anyone would notice the slightly different cache names if they found ours... - but fortunately good prevailed over evil and we recovered our cache - now known as the evil twin cache.
Thanks for the cache Jimmymaff.....and the belly laugh for Mrs E and the Geokids!!!
