After collecting the last remaining hide on the map I turned my attention to archived ones that I thought might still have been in place.
No joy here at the obvious spot. Couldn’t see to the bottom of the hollow so have to record a DNF.

In Charters Towers for the day, this is the second time we visited as cachers, but there were still a few for us to find. We drove in from Macrossan Bridge and set out gps to go! WE arrived, located the Weir'd Tree, and the grey thing, and the cache. That was the easy bit, retrieving it was not as easy, but eventually @3.00 using a great retrieval tool we had the hide in our hands signed, and returned.
Didn't need to "hung" around any longer.
Thanks corikra, Back to our van now for a well earned drink.....

Wow! I think this is one of my best. Wasn't hard to find, just hard to retrieve. Thanks Got it.
Found at 1120. Like the previous cacheer I spotted something down the bottom of the hollow and the hint with the GPS indicated that's where it should be. TFTC.
We think we found it but it was definitely inaccessible! Couldn't possibly have been in the wrong place. Have attached a photo (it's a bit hard to see)
A pair of travelling Grey Nomads heading back down south to Adelaide. Will take the kangaroo TB on a journey. TFTC.
Quick find while visiting the weir.
Nice spot for a picnic.

TFTC I wouldn't let the kids open it first might have to tell them about birds and bees lol
What an awesome place to visit. Would've loved to walk out on the dam but we dutifully obeyed the sign telling us it wasn't allowed. Nice easy find made of the cache, too. TFTC
Located quickly whilst out exploring this beautiful town plenty of flow over the weir at the moment.

A bonus cache for us as we weren't planning on coming out here.
But we noticed the weir sign as we headed towards the Bulls Eye cache. Decided to keep driving and check it out and sure enough there was a cache here as well.
A favourite point for a nice hide and a great location. Thanks.

We went out to the weir today to see the huge volume of water flowing after the recent rains - we weren't disappointed. The cache was a fairly easy find. Cheers from Bindair Dundat and Princess Madelyn.
Thanks for bringing me here. What an awesome spot the weir was over by a foot. Great spot for a break. Thanks for the hide cache and contents are in good condition.
In the Towers to visit some old friends so we will try for a few smilies too.
Thanks corikra

We have been spending a week around Charters Towers and grabbing a few caches while enjoying the city and it's surrounds.
We always enjoy rural caching and so often it takes us to lovely spots..and this is one of them
Many thanks for the hide corikra[^]

Another wonderful spot that w would probably overlooked if not for caching. Thanks corikra for bringing us here. Despite muggles managed a quick find and after signing had cache back in its place. TNLN SL TFTC
Out on a caching field trip to Charters Towers today with MattCNS and Mtn Pygmy Possum. What a terrific spot. Very picturesque location. Left Sable Island Spotted Pony TB here to continue their journey with another cacher.

MPP, RobS72 and I made an impromptu trip to Charters Towers for an afternoon of caching. We thought that the park would be packed on a sunny Saturday afternoon but when we arrived we had the place to ourselves! We quickly found the cache and then had a look around. Dropped a TB for a visit. Thanks corikra for the cache.
Such a pretty spot for a picnic or a BBQ. Mattcns found it before RobS72 or I had had a chance to look, so a quick find. TFTC - a goodie Corikra!
my 2nd for the day - the weir was closed but i hopped the fence and got the cache anyway!
Found with geoneph.(gdaygday7) and geoferals nos 1,2,4. Found by geoferal 2 coz mums a bit vertically challenged!! swapp3d ninga for small pouch. TFTF..
Day Two of the Goldfield Ashes and with our morning game done it was time to find today's cache. We arrived at GZ to find muggles parked in the way and we had to wait for their departure. Once gone geoD made a quick find in the obvious location. Now it's time to return to camp for a few cold ones.

Easy find, but it still threw us for a few minutes ... great little spot - shame the weir is unaccessable.. TNLN
I never knew this place existed, when I arrived it was secluded but I noticed the weir'd tree immediately, pulled up beside it, jumped the puddle of water and had cache in hand in no time!! Once log was signed I went to have a better look at the area and took some photos, nice place
Had to wait for a muggle to leave but easy find.
Dropped some TB's in for a visit.
Thanks for the cache

My day started Weir'dly
I was headed out along 'Waterworks Road', and then onto 'Weir Road'.
Well that seemed a likely way to get to this Weir'd Tree [:o)]
And at the end of the road I found a shady parking spot in the shade of a tree.
Well that is Weir'd.
GZ is only 3 metres away and I could see a likely hiding place through the windscreen
With the logbook signed I strolled across the freshly sprinkled lawns, across the deserted parklands to find out what that 'weir'd' noise was !!
Of course !! Falling water, and lots of it too !! [:o]
I am sure the amount of falling water must be a lot more in the wet.

Parked the caravan at the Burdekin River, to cache around Charters Towers.
Took us some time to find the correct road to get out to this one.
We ended up going to the information Center to get a map of the area, and directions.
Cache was quickly found, which was a well thought out hide. Lovely area, took photos.
T: coin, L: sapphire ball (not real).
Thanks for the cache, corikra.

Found today - took a drive out there after we finished with the Bethal Longhorn Tourist Park - anyone in Charters Towers who have a few hours to spend should go out and have a look. Brilliant showing.
Thank You Corniks for the information on A Weir'd Tree and the weir - great to learn all this information that we can pass on to our family.
Took nothing - left coin from Western Australia

Found at 4:42 PM GAFF1. We started to fear the worst as we approached seeing rocks strewn around, but then we remembered the name of the cache
Gosh 400 million gallons for the time and filled within a few days - wish that sort of water was flowed down south in the drought period of 1997 to 2006!
Saw some kids fishing just below the weir wall and they were catching a dark looking rounded fish - don't know what it was though - maybe one of the pest fishes around here.
Thanks corikra.

Thanks for getting us out to this place and telling us yet another bit of the Charters Towers history.
Cant believe no one had found this since February. TFTC. Great spot. I think the locals try to keep it secret!
Fairly easy find but needed H to retrieve. Council worker necessitated the need to take extended interest in the weir until he left as we were both parked near GZ.
Love this place who knew there was a weir here.
Cat was searching in a completely wrong area and Bear found it in the first place he looked.
Thanks Corikra for placing a large cache here.

This one way found on our day trip to the towers.
We made the trip out and were very glad we did.
Although access to the weir was closed the park was lovely and the weir was flowing nicely.
Great cache and very clever hide.
After checking out the boat ramp and recreation area we came back for BBQ lunch.
Very nice spot.
Cheers and happy caching.

This was our 4th cache in our caching run today - and we found it at around 10:40.
(So this is our 4746th total find.)
A really nice cache. It was interesting to see the monument nearby depicting the two shapes of the dam wall, then and now.
The listed trackables are not in the cache.
Took: Nothing
Left: Batman Ball
Thanks corikra for the hunt today.

2nd visit to this cache. Gkids wanted to find a cache and we were in the area. Great spot for a bbq. Plenty of water going over. Trackable removed and heading on a trip. Thanks f t c.
Terrific hide and the watt was flowing, great to see after so much drought. Left TB "Key to Happiness". TFTC. 2BluFish
Enjoyed our drive pit to the weir and the sight of the river in flood. Good cache too. Dropped geocoin. No other swaps. We will enjoy coming back in the dry to check out the difference. TFTC.
Found after a morning's fishing. TFTC

Great hide and nicely chosen to keep it safe! Interesting history of the area and the weir looked beautiful today in the sun. thanks Corikra.
Found this one while on holiday to my home town, travel bug not found in cache, tftc tnln bullfrogi
Finally got out here and found the cache! Not much left in it as tradeables (TNLN) but the container and log were still in fine condition! TFTC
We went for a walk down to the Weir yesterday ( the gates are still closed due to flooding & debris ). I checked on this cache & it was hidden high enough so its not affected by the flood
Great hide in a really lovely place. The water is pouring over the weir and there were literally many dozens of pelicans feeding in the water. Have not been down here for many years and I have never seen it going over the weir. TNLN TFTC.

What a lovely spot! Bet it's nice and cool on a hot summer's day. Some people pulled up when we were in the car park, they took their nets and all hopped over the fence labelled "No entry". Still, we didn't mind and headed off to find the cache in solitude. We thought it a good place for TB "See No..." to start its travels by the dam. Cheers and thanks corikra.
Found during a break in the traffic. The grey nomads were out in force today !
