As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been a number of months since the last owner note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 30 days), just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 30 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.
Drove past this one to get bto another. The gate & the shelter where if I remember rightly the cache was has gone, Owner may need to check it out?
Think this may have been taken, as damage to local structure. Please update if still active. Thanks.
it was so windy today the gps was everywhere, except where it should of been. Found after a few minutes searching in the wrong spot. TFTC
Found on our Ballarat Smackdown weekend with DazRascal, Blacklegend, Trailrunning and Quasar3671!
We've found quite a number of Rail Trail caches so far this weekend and this was another one. Cache was quickly located with plenty of eyes on the job.
Many thanks for bringing us here. TNLN SL. Cheers.

One of 184 cache finds during our "Ballarat Smackdown" weekend of caching on the 23rd to 25th. There were 13 of us including Blacklegend and three of his kids, Trailrunning, Haveanez and their two boys, Dazrascal and myself amd my two boys Tyler and Cooper. We'd spent a few weeks planning the trip, with every Ballarat Puzzle solved in the area, cache lists and road and route maps all ready to go. We stayed in the Miners Retreat Motel for the two nights and the accomodation and facilities were great. Our goal was simple - find as many caches as possible in the time we were here !
We found a great variety of caches and hides during the three days, which also involved a bit of walking and some 4WD fun as well in the state forests north of Ballarat. The weather was quite cold of the Friday and Saturday morning but eventually cleared to nice sunny weather Saturday arvo and Sunday. We all had a great time, especially the kids who did really well to keep up with the pace we were moving.
Our second day of caching and it was to be our biggest day and fullest day too. Into the afternoon caching now and the weather had cleared up nicely. Our second cache on this part of the trail and we were able to drive right up to GZ and find the cache. Log signed and we were off to do a few more before a break for tea. TFTC.

One of 182 caches I personally found during our "Ballarat Smackdown" trip. The trip included teams Quasar3671, Trailrunning, Haveanez, Dazrascal and myself. Caches included around 30 mystery caches, a few earth caches, lots of trads and multis and both day and night caching. Some 4WD action was encountered as well, which was great. All puzzles within 60kms were solved.
I took three of my kids, Jasmine 7yo, James and Jemma 5yo twins, traveling from Tocumwal. The trip covered 3 days and two nights, staying in Ballarat. Quasar3671 took his two boys as did Haveanez. One of the best caching trips I have been on, and certainly lots and lots of finds, almost clearing out the main Ballarat area. Home base was the Miners Retreat motel, which was quite pleasant and quiet.
This was a find on our massive Saturday run, which included both day and night caches. Lunch was a picnic in the bush at one or our cache stops. A night caching run was undertaken after a rest and dinner.
Quick find at the shelter here. Another rail trail hide. Rail trails are pretty cool, lots around. TFTC.

After a successful Friday evening to start off the “Ballarat Cache Smackdown” with 34 finds on the first day the Saturday was always going to be a day of superhuman effort. It started early with a run heading west and south, only to finish the day and night with a run to the Northwest and North. A great day was had by all because there was some good 4WDing and the weather held out for the day with only one notable shower. A total of 98 caches were collected today, and it shows you how quickly a cache can be located with so many searchers. This cache was one of them. Another quick drive by. Yes we drove up to the cache!! Thanks for cache #103 for the smackdown.
Found at 3:28pm on a lovely sunny Ballarat afternoon, a nice little shelter but it seems a magnet for rubbish, took away a dozen of Jack Daniels plus! SL Took Deborah Bee TB Left Echidna and pathtag.
I wasn't sure if the trail in this section was suitable for my geoPatrol but the trail was wide and plenty of vehicle tyre tracks were seen, so off I went, also access to fields is clearly available from this trail for motor vehicles. No walkers or pushbike riders seen today. I was able to drive to within 90 metres of the cache with an area large enough to park in just off the trail. I walked the last bit to GZ, not only is there a rail trail here but also a clear geotrail. The cache was located at the end of the geotrail and the log was signed. Thanks TurtlesEdgs for the cache.
Suscoe's first find of the day.
A nice walk in the early morning air.
We thought the air had a touch of caramel to it from the confectioners across the road.
A quick find, sltnln.
thanks to TurtlesEdge for bringing us here.

Found easily on a nice sunny day. Our small geomobile was able to navigate the trail.
The cycle touring duo from Jindabyne found. M spoke with a USA come Aussie cyclist whilst B hunted and quickly found. Inside is a bit damp.
Thanks for the hide. Would love to get out on this trail on a mountain bike!

Upgraded container and included some small sheets of paper, also shifted the cache 4 metres to disguise it but still an easy find.
Found by Mary & David at 1405. We checked either end and chose the shorter walk from the Ring Road. Glad we did, as we walked beside the old rails most of the way. Hope they are left there as a reminder of the past. Sun quite warm now. The log book is still too wet to use, so we added our log to Gozanators' sheet. Our thanks once again to TurtlesEdge
The log is sopping wet so we tried to do a 5min dry on the train tracks. (Wasn't sucessful[:p]) dried container then put in (a very temporary) log which is a small bit of loose leaf paper. TFTC SL
Found on a sunny day after the rains. walked along the railtrail about 800m to the cache.
As has been mentioned since 16th Dec. LOG IS WET. We could not sign.

Parked about 80 metrs away and made a quick find. Yep, log is wet, but managed to signed my name anyway.
Thanks for showing me the area.
Thanks for showing me the area.
Dunno how many other finders used the same path I did - I managed to drive up to within about 100 metres and park, you can get even closer if you want to reverse out The container is moist if the hider hasn't already realised.
Found on a drive around Ballarat. Nice trail even after the rain.
However, the log sheet is very wet.
The 'container' is not waterproof & the inner bag is not waterproof.
The location is exposed to the weather and needs maintenance.
TNLNSL TFTC,
Roostaman.

I can recall when trains (Goods and Passenger Trains) travelled along this railway through to Skipton - not that long ago too. It's a beaut Rail Trail to ride or walk the entire length as a great deal of work has been done on the former right of way that it now follows, made even more interesting by finding some Caches along the way.
Cache was very damp (following recent rains) and the log may need replacing as impossoble to write on with pencil and delicately done with pen. TNLN and TFTC.

We really enjoyed this cache. Finding the working switch lever made our day and provided a neat little lesson for the kids. Thanks for a great cache.

Found in my 2nd attempt. In my first attempt there were too many railway workers. Nice and easy . TFTC!
Easy find.
This path surface is very high resistance when wet. Very sludgy.
The log book is a little wet. I made sure the lid was on tight.

3rd find of the day, and 2504th total find at 12:25.
We thoroughly enjoyed the stroll down to this cache.
(We think that perhaps, given such a fine location, that our grandkids would have enjoyed the experience if a little more planning had gone into the placement of this cache. For example, a larger container that contained some swaps, and was hidden with a little more thought instead of just being jammed into a crevice where it doesn't really fit.)
Took: Nothing
Left: Nothing (Screwdriver wouldn't fit)
Dropped: Turtle Geocoin

Found this arvo after spending the day in Ballarat.
Fortunately, I'd thrown the bike in, and the 700M distance was covered in no time.
My thanks to Turtles Edge for placing this cache in a great spot. Sl

A beautiful day to be out geocaching. My son loved the opportunity to ride his bike along the trail (next time we must all bring our bikes and ride further) and we enjoyed pretending to be the fat controller on the railway line too. Found after a brief hunt.

Find # 3203 and 12th of the day @ 3:40 pm after the "10 Years! Ballarat, Australia" Event. Accompanied by Fozzy778, easy find, as we found the cache Caughtatwork rolled up and had a bit of a chat, left my mark in the log, TNLN, thanx TurtlesEdge....
This was cache # 21 of 45 for the day, the cache was found in the company of Alansee and Team Crackers. We tried all the usual places before I came across the hide, the cache reminded me of my rail trail series of caches. My thanks to TurtlesEdge for the cache.
Found today with WB-Holden at 5:45pm after Event, '10 Years'.
After completing the previous cache it was back to the car for the next mission, only to find that this cache was 800 or so meters up the track. So with the push bikes off the car is was a enjoyable ride pass some blokes that were all writing a story in a small book. We arrived at GZ a little exhausted and started to have a look around when we where ambushed by the five blokes we had seen earlier. Great to catch up again and help with the find. Thanks TurtlesEdge.

Before leaving Geelong to attend the10 Year! Ballarat, Australia Event I had a call from tackle_head asking me what I was doing and if I was coming up to Ballarat I could join their team of cachers consisting of 3up, The Empire and squalid.
After attending the Event the five of us went hunting for caches and this one was next on our list.
After leaving the bike riders to ride to this cache we drove around a found a open gate and drove to this cache just as the riders arrived. We had a good laugh at their expense but they found the cache we all signed the log and we were off to try our luck at Landing Views and Kings Cache one of which they could not locate.

We have visited many rail trails since starting geocaching and we visited this one toady with Acts2YG and Alansee. It took a bit of searching in the likely spots before Eric came up with the goods.

Find # 1169 @ 17:50 and the 28th of 30 finds on the cache run whilst attending the "Ballarat 10 Year! celebration event" with Bushfire, The Empire, tackle_head and squalid.
Having met up with shane.thompson and WB Holden at the previous cache as they were about to cycle to this cache, we determined we did not have the time nor energy to walk the 840 metres so we decided to head off to Kings Cache instead. Enroute we spotted an open gate and you guessed it, twenty seconds later we were at gz and had a laugh at the look on the faces of the pair on the deadly treadly's duo as we pulled up. The laugh was on the other cheek though when shane.thompson found the hide. TNLNSL Thanks TurtlesEdge for the cache.

30/32, after the 10 Years! Ballarat Event, with tackle_head, 3up, squalid and Bushfire. After shane.thompson had taken off on his bike we went to the other end of the bike track (after seeing tyre marks at the last cache we had the idea we could 4WD to this one!) and went right in. We met them as they arrived at the cache, very funny! Thanks for the cache.

I like the Skipton Rail Trail. I have never ridden it but have sampled it numerous times caching.
We walked in about 900 odd metres from another cache and while it was not found in the first place we looked it revealed itself soon after.
Bag torn but cache log still dry.
Thanks

A very chilly walk along the trail this morning. I had forgotten how much colder it can be around here than in Melbourne. We were certainly warmer when we arrived at GZ though. A short search and the cache was in hand.
Thanks, Robmc.
Thanks, Robmc.
Found cache today with shane.thompson parked at the rode then walk in after bit of confusion had the cache in no time. Thanks TurtlesEdge
We found this cache at 4:25pm as the 23rd of 31 on our Ballaratat Tour VI. We started off on what we thought was a road, but somewhere along the way it may have turned into a bike trail, but where, we are unsure. Very odd to see an eclipse container used in a place like this in a spot like that. Thanks from D, HA and A B-A.
This one took a lot more searching than it should have. I missed it first time around, and after checking pretty much everywhere else, I found it on my second pass. I too played with the points on my way out. Thanks for the cache.
We came here after the 10 year event, where we had met up with the owner of this cache. It took us a while to spot, as it wasn't where had though an eclipse tin would be.
I would suggest that if you use an eclipse tin it really needs to be somewhere that will stay dry, as the tin will rust very quickly. In an area that might get damp a Sistema would be a better choice. You can get them at Coles or Woolies.
Great to see some hides from a new cacher, look forward to more.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Found with Acts2YG and Team Crackers. With the three of us this shouldn't have taken to long and in fact didn't, Acts2 doing the honours.
Out with tackle_head, 3up, The Empire and Bushfire. We managed to drive it from the other end. Nice hide, thnks for the cache.

Second attempt at this cache! Was totally looking in the wrong places before. Don't look up, look down. TFTC.
After finding all of McAdies rail trail caches, its great to see another one on this fantastic piece of History.
Searched a few spots first, but when the GPS said another couple of metres, I tried a different approach.
Found quickly.
The ziplock bag is torn (probably because the log is too big for this type of container and hard to extract), so it may be worth looking at before the wet weather.
Thanks TurtlesEdge for another addition to the Rail Trail.

Decided to head out to this one today, as a few new caches in the area have popped up. Having driven up the wrong road to begin with, we were driving back to spot the area for GZ a good 900M away! A good caching sense! After finding the correct road to GZ and a short walk resulted the cache in hand. Spent maybe 5 minutes looking around at GZ. Easy find in the end.

My GPS was a long way off on this one - it was only when I stood up and had a look around that I spied the cache. Thanks!
Very pleasant stroll, even if I came in from the long end. Saw this one pop up and needed to come into town so took the long option. Passed this way a few times previously but it was a nice stretch of the trail to visit again. FTF was a bonus. Many thanks TurtlesEdge.
found this one. i first thought it was on the wrong side then looking on the other side I found it.
