Greetings from Canberra! After finishing our bus ride around the Island, we finished the nearby AL and then came over to take a peek at the cemetery. It was quite interesting to see that so many gravestones had no name currently against them. Recorded the numbers correctly but initially made a mistake with the maths, putting us in a location that we quickly figured was incorrect. At the correct coords, it still took a few minutes to find, my phone GPS had us a few metres off. As mentioned, there are 2 containers at present, we signed the bigger one. TFTC!

We have done a few of the LKA around the state and it was cool to add this one to the list. We worked out the numbers and did our maths and soon had the cache in hand after a brief search. We signed your log and returned your cache back to where it lives. TFTC richlink.

After a gap of about 30 years axell33 and I were visiting the island and showing off our great places to friends visiting from the US! We ducked off to grab this one and after working it out we had cache in hand after a short search. Thanks for this interesting multi richlink.

Excellent multi to solve...no ambiguity, nice. But, then the fun starts. There are two bisons in one tree and a container in another...shall we sign them all? There is no longer a container in the cypress but still two in the cedar, take your pick. Whatever, it was a good multi, thank you.

04-Sep-24
Found 3 containers here. One in cypress placed by Baduu, left of the path. That log has been transferred to the hanging one/two bisons. Thanks for the multi, richlink.#10533

A reasonable easy multi, but we were a bit surprised finding two containers. To be safe we signed both.

TFTC! Ive cycled around Rottnest Island this morning. Had lunch on my return, however the ferry doesnt depart until 4.30pm, so have a bit of time spare and decided to cache. Of course this was a cemetery cache and I live cemetery caches. Thanks for bringing me here and showing me this history sad part of Rottnest Island. At GZ, I jumped, as it looked a bit like something else. Ive never seen a cache container like this before.

First cache on Rotto (excluding Ad Labs)! The caches final coordinates were computed quickly enough, but finding took a little longer (as is the case with all my Australian caches so far they all seem to take a while). Doubted my coordinates and went to double check, but they were right . Turns out the cache was found on the floor, instead of hanging/not not on the ground as the hint implied. I put it back to a suitable spot so that its off the ground. TFTC and greetings from Singapore!

In Western Australia for 2 weeks for a holiday with the muggle husband. The coords were the easy park to work out! I started my search and checked about 5 different places. Double checked my coords then circled back to the first place I look where it was. This was my 8th cache on the island. Havent spotted a quokka yet but its still the middle of the day. Goldy is back in Perth with my friend "goldyscacheelf" for some caching, museums, pubs and football.Today we went to Rottnest Island for another Goldy and Sparkie adventure who just so happened to be visiting also!We found the virtual, ad lab, a multi and a few trads around the island.Just what every cacher loves... a group of muggles right around GZ. Funnnnn. They eventually left and we looked.Numbers crunched. Final found. Sparkie find cache. Definitely some sad history on this island. Thanks richlink for this multi cache, which brings Goldy's total find count to 4136 on the 5th of May 2024.I appreciate all the CO's who spend time and resources contributing to the Geocaching game board.Shoutout to the reviewers who dedicate time to make sure our game is safe and enjoyable.I look forward to attending GCACHF8 in Sydney in early 2025. Hope to see plenty of people there!

We are currently on a eight week holiday which is mostly spent in New Zealand and Australia. However, the first three days were spent in Singapore as a nice break from an otherwise long flight. We had about three weeks in New Zealand which went by too quickly. The remaining five weeks are spent in Australia. Very early this morning we drove from Margaret River to Freemantle. We wanted to visit Rottnest Island and since we are leaving tomorrow it had to be accomplished today. As it turned out we arrived in time and could book a ferry to Rottnest Island and could return with a ferry of another company. Very happy with the possibility to see Quakkas. We also visited this old cemetary. The needed information was quickly collected and sitting at the picnic tables the coords were calculated. After that we went straight for the cache which was found quickly. Thank you very much for this cache.

#11046Now the end of the holidays is approaching, we'll be back home soon. As a last trip this morning, given the beautiful sun shining in the sky and NO wind, we decided to come and visit Rottnest Island. These are festive days and we knew there would be a lot of people, but not that many!!After wandering around the island for a bit we arrive at this sad cemetery full of history. It's a shame that it isn't valued and maintained. We find the data, calculate the coordinates and look for the ending which unfortunately, after 10 minutes of searching by "entering" the tree, we do not find. We make a replacement at eye level after having "immersed ourselves" among the foliage again.Let us leave a Favorite for the poor souls who lie here.Hello and thank you and greetings to the owner. #11046

I've always loved visiting this cemetery. I remember going to the "Ghosts, Mysteries and Legends" tour here as a kid on school holidays. Mum was a volunteer guide here in her last years and Rottnest has always been such a huge part of my life. Thanks for the cache ... we found it quite quickly after brushing aside some cobwebs and sticking my head inside. Great little spot. Left a TB and a duck and took a penny. Thanks for the cache, for your efforts and bringing me back to reminisce.

My husband and i and muggle friends are visiting from Brisbane. Today we hired electric bikes to travel around and it was fantastic. With a few big hills the bikes made easy work and the 30 km or so we rode felt easy. We got the 9.30 ferry and returned on the 4.30 ferry and spent around 4 hours riding with a stop for lunch and a drink at Rottnest Island Hotel at the end. We had such a great day and thank you for placing these caches on the island for us to enjoy.interesting place for a multi and nice hide.

#7456Day 10 in WA involved a trip to Rottnest Island. We tried to pick the least windy day as we aimed to cycle around the island. After picking up our eBikes, we set off in a clockwise direction. While there was no wind to speak of, we did encounter intermittent drizzle until we got to the west end. From there on, it was beautiful sunshine and quite warm. After lunch, it was time to head out again to explore the northern area of the island. Had just enough time for one more before returning the bikes and catching the ferry back to Fremantle.Info quickly gathered and calculations done. Focused on two main areas before finding the prize nicely nestled away in a shady spot.TFTC richlink

Visiting from Brisbane with T-Tech. Today we are heading to Rottnest Island Big Grin Tick that off the Bucket List! We hired electric bikes and spent 6 hours riding the length and breadth of the island, travelling 50kms, seeing the sights and gathering caches. This one was solved online at home. We had to be discreet in our search as a couple of folk were there, but we had no trouble making the find. It's a great hiding spot. TFTC, richlink.

Left pathtag

I’m visiting my youngest child (“minifungus”) in Perth and we have come over to Rottnest Island for a few days of relaxing , cycling , hiking , sightseeing, breakfasting ️ and I have a list of caches to find.
I started on this one yesterday, did the math and searched for ages, coming up empty handed. Logs indicated it shouldn’t be this hard. Checked the math and still no luck.
Today with msg to CO my co-ords were wrong so back to the GZ to check my numbers…doh!!! I had written the wrong year…correct co-ords, now to wait for the muggles to leave. Once they left … in I go and yes an easy find.
Thanks to CO for quick responses to me today.
I left a pathtag for next finder.
Thanks for hiding here.

Quickly had the coords the find took a little longer.

What an adventure. This was my first visit to the island I can now say I have been.
I would not book to travel with sea link again unfortunately. The tide was very high this morning in the river. The boat could not get under the bridge so we were put off at east Fremantle, traveled 10 minutes by coach to the Fremantle wharf were we wait for the 11am transport. I lost about 1:5 hours on the island. Finally arrived and set off on foot the skies were ok, some clouds but looked like it was clearing. I brought a hop on hop off bus ticket but decided to walk the first part. Then between caches south side of Kingston and on quokka duty the skies opened I had a rain coat but was drowned. I caught buses between the other caches then walked again in the afternoon from stop 19.
Today I got 9 caches, a multi and the adventure caches. Not bad at all.
Thank you all for placing the caches.
At the bishop retreat I left a TB.
One of the caches would have been cache 2400.

This was the very end of my one month stay in Australia and my epic road trip from Sydney to Perth. If I could go back in time and replan my visit to Rottnest, I'd make sure I go in the missile of the week, away from school holidays and spend at least one night

I opted for taking the bus which was actually a great Idea because I mostly hiked and only took the bus for longer distances. But one day is just not long enough. So be less like me and plan better.

This cache was the only one for me on the island.
