Another quick find with Kre8ive, tricky to open but managed in the end, no pen on hand unfortunately
Meandering our way home after a few days in whakatane, no coverage here, but luckily remembered part of the hint, found it, adjusted catch so it now shuts, log safe and dry, tftc
Up early today and on the road from Rotorua to Mount Maunganui. We took this road and pulled over here to let the traffic behind us pass. Thought I would check to see if there was a cache and sure enough there was one 2 meters away!! We didn't have good cell phone coverage but the GPS was all we needed. TFTC
A pretty flippen cool location, we enjoyed looking around here and kestal found the cache. Thanks for the cache, GenCuster!
Our second last find today. Weather was rainy and water was flowing down the creeks. We took photos and came back for the search. Eventually we looked in the right spot and came up with the find. TFTC and bringing us here
Real interesting to learn a little about this area. To think that the state highway was only established in 2004, and horses used to travel down and use the troughs, that was super interesting. Will see how the hiking tracks go next time, perhaps. Ngā mihi. TFTC
Auf der Durchreise hier vorbei gekommen und die Dose gehoben. Danke fürs Herführen.
We were passing and saw this cache was here so made a quick stop.
Unfortunately there was no mobile coverage so we couldn't check the hint but using our geosenses we soon located the hiding spot.
Interesting area and history.
TFTC.

We are heading out to Tect Park to spend the morning caching the trails there. Along the way we stopped at this interesting bit of history and found the cache here. Thanks.
An interesting location, enjoyed both the information and a visit to the stream. There’s a large tree caught across the culvert down there, must have come down in flood waters. Cache all safe and well - TFTC!
After the last couple of DNF’s we were concerned. Got to GZ, had a good look and poke around and soon spotted cache (not seen many of this kind). No log paper in cache, so replaced paper. Pls be careful when opening. It’s a shame lots of rubbish in this area and sign been vandalised.
Didn't know this walk was here. Interesting history, shame sign had been vandalism. Was not hopeful but cache was located. Log paper added. Tftc
Day 6 of our family holiday and after laval spent literally hours on the adrenaline forest we stopped here on the way back to our accommodation.
Unfortunately we had no luck here today though…well except for a lot of rubbish including babies nappies

Oh dear - not a good start to a caching day around Lake Rotorua. Too clever for me today....
A nice quick find thanks. Nice parking
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. The weather was marginal, with drizzle, rain ans heavy rain, and some rain free time too. We drove from Rotorua.to Tauranga. There were a few to mny dnfs today, I blame it on the weather,
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

A favourite as it was such a quick find, I found the information so interesting and I laughed as the retrieval made me think of a housework job I do infrequently! Luckily we had the place to ourselves. Tftc
Nice quick find on our way home. Always loved stopping here and going under the bridge just nearby. TFTC
Not in a panic so stopped here to let a car pass. Then we looked closer and turned the gps on. Neat spot in the gorge.
In Rotorua for the day grabbing some specific caches. Was passing this one and all quiet when I arrived. Took me some time before I located the cache and by then cars had arrived. A drink and sandwich before I was able to retrieve the cache and do the business. Thank you for the placement.
Found. Have driven past here so many times but always on the way to somewhere in a hurry!
Thanks for your amazing cache.
Took some time but reading the activity sent me in the right direction. Also remembered bottom opening.

Stopped here en route to McLauren Falls and searched around and almost gave up. The fairy half said to try a few other places.. Only when I got down on my knees and had a look did I see what we had been missing. Clever container and interesting spot. Thanks for the cache.
Well I looked and looked, and reread the description several times, but had to give up. Next time I'm pasing thru, then. Thanks for bringing me to this beautiful spot anyway.
Passed this area many many times but never stopped. There must be a swimming hole nearby but we weren't prepped for a slippery walk so just dipped our toes.
Cache style is awesome!

Have passed this place so many times and never wanted to stop. Finally I pulled in and made the quick find.
Thanks for the interesting page.

Fairly quick find.. we did at first think it was an end of a syringe, kids had more game than me to explore further... tftf
#11,882. We had already found *But You Cannot Make It...* in 2013 and *Of Horses, Drinking and Stable Hands II* in 2016. So it was good to complete this remaining part of the mini series on the Tauranga Direct Road in Hamurana now. Fortunately, GZ was pretty quiet at the time of our visit. Found after a short search. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.
Thanks for the interesting history and placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …

Found with AF BEE, 6ftzpr&1/2zip, and ondago while on a geocaching vacation. Thanks for placing this cache.
OCW GeoWench78 between Taupo and Tauranga...not quite where we were expecting to find this one...thanks for sharing some interesting local history!
Round the world trip Made it to New Zealand and will be traveling all around the Islands. After some weeks on the south island I am on my way back to Auckland. My stops are Dannevirke, Napier, Taupo, Rotorua, Tauranga, Matamata and some last days in Auckland.
Thanks for bringing up this cache!
Vielen Dank fürs legen und pflegen und beste Grüße aus Leipzig!
Thanks for hiding and many greetings from Leipzig/Germany!

We planned a day out to Tauranga for a look around. It turned out to be sunny and pleanant; just right for a day of caching about!
I was not sure where to look at first but soon turned up a container I had not expected! Thanks GennCuster for the chance to find out more about this road.

Handy stop to get out of a traffic queue. Nice gorge. Will be back to try the track one day.
Clever Caching with Sidewaze. My apologies for late logging, my thanks to CO for taking the time to place the cache and giving us the challenge of finding it. TFTC
What interesting history, thanks for sharing. We took a trip from Tauranga to Rotorua today and found this cache on our return journey. The hide was an interesting variation on a theme. I was pleased I had read the description to save time working out how to open it. TFTC .
This was a spur of the moment stop on the way through to Tauranga after having successfully found 5 from 5 caches in a nearby walkway....so the pressure was on to keep the 100% hit rate. We started off poorly as the GPS was sending us in all different locations and the frequent traffic disrupted the hunt. Logic finally prevailed as it was back to basics reading the cache and whilst Mrs and Little One we hunting close by Mr was busy smiling with the cache in hand. TFTC we look forward to doing the others in the future.
Found! Tried for this a couple of years ago in the dark so attempted during the day this time (with better GPS).
Hier musste ich doch etwas länger suchen, mit Handykamera dann entdeckt.
TFTC
Grüße Orientexpress
Well worth the stop, interesting history and great gorge, you can walk in the river bed but beware it is very slippery. TFTC
Had old hint but found it in the end after tramping part of unofficia track which came to a dead end after 2 hours, about turn and return to the parking area than look for a cache FOUND it.
On our journey down to Taupo in our camper, we wanted to pick up some easy caches with good parking areas.
This fitted the bill nicely, cache found in a place that Tim had already looked.
All in good condition here and then we read the interesting information board (shame it has seen better days)

31/12/18 19:00 New Log sheet. Happy New Year! Thanks to all those who have found - and maintained - my caches. Cheers, GC.
Hey we found the cache at this historic site. No log book, added something we had on us. Tftc
Our final day in Rotorua, heading to Tauranga for the night. We are visiting from Toronto ON Canada to spend 25 days with our daughter who lives in Wellington NZ. We have planned a driving tour of both the north island and the south island. Quick stop at GZ. Found at 2:50 PM. Thank you GenCuster for placing and maintaining this cache.
On the way to rotorua for a work do and stopped here to grab this cache. This one took a bit of looking around as I was unsure what I was supposed to be feeling under. Went with my instinct and managed to find the cache. Took a photo so that I just looked like a tourist to the traffic going past. Thanks for the cache
Looked here before but issues with lack of phone cover; Researched at home but still no luck. Just couldn't pinpoint THE spot. Hmmm !!
Found it this time tho I spotted it but couldn't get access. then TIGA had a go and couldn't get it either. I tried something else and voila!!! It was in my hand,
Signed the log with out joint name of TT2M.P
Very clever TFTC

Coming back from Rotorua with My.Precious this was the second or third try for this one. Pulled in to the rest area to let the camper van in front get ahead sufficiently as to not be a hindrance though the gorge. Had looked here previously, but obviously not good enough. A neat little cache holder that I had trouble opening, but M.P was able to get the log out to sign with our joint name TT2M.P.
Out exploring new places. Beautiful place to stop and water Horses indeed. Lots of info on nearby signs. Well after much circling and gps being silly. The clue mean't nothing to me. It was a case of Find it or else. Sooo tried many wee places and Bingo finally this nasty wee cache was signed off. Phew!
I've stopped here before to look for this cache... and couldn't find it then although I did spot a couple of likely hides. Today 'The Mr' was traveling over to Tauranga so I asked him if he could have a look for this cache on his way... to be honest I was smirking a bit on the inside thinking there was no way he'd be able to find it. This afternoon I got a text that said 'Found It'... I had to wait until I got home before interrogating him about where it was exactly... and he did even better... he took a photo to show me. Seems I need to get my caching eyes looked at because I didn't even look properly in that spot. Very clever hide... and it's 'The Mr' who's smirking now! TFTC... a favourite point from me!
Stopped here when heading North with no luck in finding cache. So on way back had another look, no phone signal, pleased I remembered hint. Log was soon signed and placed back in hideing place. Cheers
Out with The X-Trailers caching for the day. Sadly a dnf. Now back in qld logging caches
26/12/17 Remove erroneous ‘needs maintenance’ attribute. Just because an inexperienced cacher can’t find it, doesn’t mean the cache is missing. Plenty of experienced cachers can’t find it either... Remove ‘found’ log that wasn’t a find at all...
NB: READ the cache description! The cache container can’t be removed. And if cachers can’t find it, how could a muggle find and remove it. The cache IS there.

what a great bit of history here, both hubby and I haven't traveled this road before so it was a lovely drive in a lot of native bush area. another funky cache container. thanks for the placement
Auf dem Weg zur Coromandel Halbinsel einen kleinen Zwischenstopp gemacht und ein paar Dosen gesucht und gefunden. TfdC
Delighted to find this one. Looked here several times can’t believe we missed it. Thanks to CO for the help we needed. Very clever gets a fave from us TFTC
Joined forces with HKCB & 11hpg11 to find 10 different cache types today. Because enthusiastic cacher HKCB has already cleared out every cache vaguely near home, it soon became clear that fulfilling this challenge together would necessitate quite a bit of travel (~ 700km!) .. gulp... and hence the plan saw us leave Hamilton at 3.30 am to head to Auckland for some less common cache types. Back to Hamilton by 8am for a CITO before heading off to Tauranga, Rotorua & Taupo, with the aim of being back in Hamilton by 6pm for our 10th cache type. Totally ridiculous but a whole lot of fun. Stopped off here on our way to Rotorua to add a trad to our tally. Took longer to find than we care to admit haha but we finally uncovered its sneaky hiding place. Cache all good & doesn't need the aforementioned maintenance log, Signed, replaced & onto the next. TFTC
A mission that has been a long time in the making. Today our goal was to collect 10 different cache types in a day. For Kiwis69 and myself this would have been fairly easy and a short day, but because we were tagging along with HKCB, this meant a few more kms and a wider caching area. We started the day at 3.30am and due to deciding to continue back to another event in Rotorua I got to bed at 5.30am the following day. Sleep is for the weak right?! A memorable day, spent in some great company and superb weather just to make the day even better. All up we did Hamilton - Auckland - Hamilton - Tauranga - Rotorua - Taupo - Hamilton - Rotorua - Hamilton. Travelling all those kms and still ended up in Hamilton
Second leg of the journey now, time to head to the Bay. Kayaks loaded, coffee fix had and now the sun was up it felt a lot more normal to be out and about.
Not meant to be stopping as we had a goal in mind but this trad caught my eye and we were allowed to stop and find it. A good hunt that had us looking over everything with a fine toothed comb. Think we made it harder than we needed to and eventually the cache was found. Definitely still there, just need to hunt (I did also find the sticky spot of tape talked about in previous logs... that's not the cache!)
Thanks for the hide in a cool spot!

Spent ages here feeling & checking everywhere we possibly could but no find today
Cache check after only two recent finds. It's all good and exactly as it should be.
I suspect that newer cachers don't know about pre-loading caches into their 'smart' phones and drive straight past this one, in its no-cell-phone-coverage-area. Thanks to those who 'do' find my caches, Cheers, GC.

Amazing! It is actually there! I could have sworn I'd thoroughly checked this location. Oh, well. TFTC.
3.40pm. Third attempt. First two in the rain so I didn't spen too muct time. Still hard to find today. A favourite point for a good hide.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
Heading north towards Thames and have a variety of caches to stop for on the way. Weather was pleasant and some great views were spotted as we drove along. Thanks to all the COs for placing their caches in places of interest that show us even more about NZ.
We looked for a few caches to do while travelling from Rotorua to Thames via the Coromandel Peninsula and this was one of them. It took us a little while to find and to then work out the log retrieval. But all went well and we were able to sign the log for a smilie. Cache is in good condition. Cheers and TFTC!!
