Mozzies. Great old bridge. Nice walk but plenty of Lantana. Day out with Hobitaa. Tftc
This was really great to come and explore. Thanks for the cache and bringing us here. We were a bit low and like others scrambled up, dodging and being caught by lantana. Heaps of fun
Was a bit tricky, very overgrown and definitely looks like no one would dare take that path to find it!
The bridge seems to be slowly disappearing, although the lantana is only increasing. Got help from a friend close to GZ, and it was the Eagle-Eye Goldberry17 who first laid a hand on. It. TFTC.!
Much lantana & many mozzies but we battled on & after PAF - we had it in hand! Found with 2 pods on a lovely day.
I had arranged a day of caching seeking out a handful of particular caches and this was my first of the day.
I followed the wide track towards GZ and as I got closer I realised that I was too low. I managed to scramble up and arrived by the warning sign. I couldn't see the bridge or a way to it. I climbed through and found the end, and very shortly after, the cache.

Great to avenges DNF. This time we attacked it from the top and although I feel like I have done 8 rounds with the lantana once I got to right location and easy find. Fav point from us
I noticed that a friend had found this recently, and after having changed plans twice for today, decided to avenge the bluey. After slogging though the Lantana for 100M, i came to a sign that said "Danger! Keep Off". All i could see was Lantana. It took some to find the bridge itself. I soon had the cache in Hand, though it was not in this exact spot when i was here last, and was surprised to see the origanal log. After signing i ventured below, to check out the "danger". The termites certainly have had a good feed. Took some great pics, and marveled at the engineering of the day. Amazing that this would support Coal trains then, but maybe not todays versions. My Uncle drove on the SMR, so would have crossed this many times. Seeing as i was down here, i decided to brave the quicksand and follow the creek back to the road. Only sunk higher than the boot twice. I saw a trail from MM, still in the sand, though it was firmer today. Great piece of Railway history here, so thanks for bringin me here.

Enjoying a great day out caching today and thought I would try for this cache.. I parked on the main road and walked up the creek, I should have waited until it was a little drier but once I started I didn’t want to stop, so even though my shoes were sinking like quick sand I kept going. Then I found the bridge, it’s really cool , found a way up to the top and through the lantana for a really quick find. The cache and log are in great condition. Thanks for the cache

Found with My Dad (DJANT) and my Brothers (dart16 & Jedi Anakin) I have my own account now and am trying to catch up to the boys Thanks for the cache.
Interesting track. Worth getting lost under the bridge before making your way up to the cache at top. Tyfc
Yowser. Should have read the logs about the best way to get there first. Got covered in Bidens (cobblers pegs). Then read the logs and went low only to go high. You do not need to go onto the bridge. thanks for bringing us here.
What an awesome place. Thanks to the previous finders for hints on how to get there.
Our experience pretty much mirrors that of the previous finders. Nice to be able to drive right up. Weren't really sure where to go from there for that last 30m or so but something caught my eye from the car and bingo. Didn't have to fight any weed which was a relief. Isn't it amazing the places that geocaching can take you to?? Cool old structure which would have been great to explore more if not for the aggressive lantana grabbing it from both ends! TFTC, cnnhorne!

Found easy 4wd access via road off George Booth drive. Drove within 30m of the bridge and took a short walk up through the lantana to GZ. (We cleared a little bit) If you find the bridge you'll find the cache.
Its a shame such a beautiful piece of history is being covered by a nasty plant.

Found on my own on a sunny Sunday morning. The bell birds were ringing loud and clear this morning, tftc
Day 4 of the road trip to the OZ Geomuster Mega. I am still travelling with Caro and we are making our zig zag way through finding the odd puzzles we have solved.
We are making our way through Singleton, Maitland and south to finish up in the Watagan Mountains.
A short walk from where we parked the cars to this one and we did get our shoes wet as there were a few puddles to negotiate on the way.
Thanks for the cache.

Onwards on our journey towards the Mega Event, complete with a healthy looking list of caches to find. Puzzles worked on for days, weeks and months in advance, some with hints begged borrowed and stolen as necessary. Travelling through and exploring new areas is always very interesting to me and I appreciate every CO for placing caches as they show us great parts of the country. What a surprise this old bridge was! Nice spot, thanks for the cache, cnnhorne.
We walked down the track from 250 metres away, hoping that we would be able to see the bridge, but even at 20 metres from GZ we still couldn't see it. We followed the GPS, however, and there it was. The cache was found easily, log signed, and we walked back to the car. TFTC!
That could have taken forever but despite battling lantana and flies I had CIH from the 2nd place I looked. Definitely not climbing that bridge. At least the bellbirds sound nice. TFTC
Short scramble up to a quick find. Unfortunately the bush is slowly reclaiming this little piece of history. Found with mhkbpratt. TFTC
very cool old bridge, walked up the creek bed then needed to do a bit of lantarna bashing, but then stumbled across it for a lucky find, log dry, cache was in good condition, left some stickers,
I wonder if there was an easier way into this one. Saw a nice brown snake as well. Nice design for the bridge.

Pick a bad track to approach this one, it was covered in spiky plants. But we found it.
Obviously there from the other logs but I couldn't find it. Maybe next time I am here I will allocate a little more tin and bring the gps.
Did however enjoy seeing the bridge. Love this sort of history.

Found it. Out on a little day trip and decided to drop in. This is a great spot for a cache.
Got me on this one. Found where the cache should be but was at the bottom of the bridge not top.... better luck another day
Good spot. We parked on the eastern side of the creek, then walked up the creek bed to the bridge, a geotrail led us to the top of the bridge, and the hide was spotted very quickly. Thanks for bringing us here.... we left a new TB to start its journey, left another we picked up recently, and picked up another.

cnnhorne I found your cache The Old Forgotten Bridge on 27/03/2016, 2:30 PM. This is my find #1740 and find #6 today. Followed the track from the tunnel cache. What an amazing structure, still standing after over 100 years albeit falling apart. Thanks DAN14S for making a path through the lantana, made it easy to get to the cache. A quick find with the coords spot on. Thanks for the cache! TNSLLN
Attempted this one and DNF'd almost two years ago so back again for another shot. Knowing from which direction to approach this one helps access. We parked east of GZ near an industrial access road then walked along the along the top of the old rail embankment. It has overgrown a lot in last two years so we were dodging a lot of lantana and other scrub.
Arriving at GZ we again found a lot of new lantana growth which was a little bit in the way. Aafter about a 10 minute search we came up with the goods. Cache was a little off GZ according to our Garmins so we took an averaged waypoint which may help others. Cache is in good condition. SLTN left a penny.
On the way back we decided it was easier to climb down the embankment and walk along the flat, slashed ground below the powerlines.
Thanks cnnhorne

Found by doing some bush-bashing to get there, walked back on the relatively dry creek bed. Nice hide. TFTC
Great location good hide, out with scroggy88 cleaning up some local greens and replacing them with yellows smiles. What a beauty but we made it so much harder than it was. Tftc

Making our way to the top we searched for a good 15 minutes. We really made this harder for ourselves then it should have been. Great location.
GZ was out by 8m on my phone but I think I got lucky here as it was essentially the first place I looked. Gained access along the old creek bed - very sandy so not much standing water. Picked a likely geo-trail and eh voila! Enjoyed this one. Lots of birds at dawn. TNLN TFTC
I came down from the Richmond Vale #3 Tunnel, and bashed my way over to GZ, where I found the container sitting out on a piece of timber. I have replaced it inside where I think it belongs. What a great spot! FP from me.
i headed out this direction to fill in some missing DT grid squares. i had originally only planned to find one today Richmond Vale No 2 Tunnel (Sugarloaf Tunnel). however on my approach to it i realised the parking area i had been told about was on the incorrect side of the road and there is no safe place near it to do a u turn. so i continued onwards knowing that i could find this one instead and there is a large place to park. i tired finding this one the other day on the way to Kurri Kurri but the recent rain meant there was a large amount of standing water between the road and the rail embankment. the drier weather meant the puddle had disappeared but the ground was still soggy. trekked up the rail embankment and followed it towards the old bridge. Searched for a little while but found it remarkably quickly. Signed i placed it back in its location and walked back to the car unsure if i was going to stop at my original cache choice on the way back. TFTC
I went exactly to the spot where the photo is and did not find it. Some muggle must have taken it
I saw this has not been found for a while and as the last successful finder I thought I should go have a look, in case I hid it too well. Upon arriving I remembered where the cache was and instead found a great big hole. I took some inside photos and could see some blue and no snakes, so stuck my hand in. The cache was half buried, but still in really good condition. The inside was a little moist, but I dried it out and the log was still dry. Great to be back here, (who said geocachers do not visit the same place twice?)
Cache is back in play, probably a lot easier difficulty rating, but same terrain.
Same container, same coordinates, same log, slightly different hide, same clue.

Decided to check this out anyways, despite the DNF's. It was a great location so I hope the CO replaces soon!!Definately no cache here!
So many possible hiding places, but no luck. Searched for a good half hour. I'd say the hiding hole has rotted through and the cache is lost?
Our third attempt on Mothers Day. On a bit of a railway theme, have just done Tunnel 1 & 2. But alas, we could not find it. mad.rabbitoh and Haydos101 were with me today, who had previously found it, but they tell me they could not fully remember where it was. I gave it 20 minutes of three people looking, but came away empty handed. Will return once we get a check or another find? Great historic cache which needs to be kept.
A fine day for a change and time for some more caches.
Tried for this one a while back but couldn't access it due to road work site. All clear today. Tried a few different lines of attack for this but going the long way was the easiest. Spent a good deal of time searching but came up empty handed. As it is such an out-of-the-way place I couldn't see it being muggled but you never know. Perhaps it needs a check by CO? Thanks cnnhorne

Had a really good look, much longer than I normally would as I was enjoying the location. Climbed all over the place more than once. Found a spot that could match the description of past logs but was empty. Not suggesting it must be gone as there are a lot of spots that match past logs. Just used that as my excuse to give up the search today.
Thanks for hunt. Will try again another day.

Came by to grab this one today but there was roadworks blocking access. Will come back another day as we often go by here. Just need to remember to stop.
Nice find in the morning.
Didn't realise the ratings till I got there, they didn't stop me.
Had a look from the top, had a look from the bottom.
Cache is dry, but the 14 extra pieces of paper in it mean it has been wet.
only signed one of the pieces of paper in there.
TFTC!

Well, well, well. we had fun trying to find this one. first we went to another wooden bridge, then when we found the right one we went up the wrong side through the barbed wire fence, up a steep slope getting scratched all over climbing back though the barbed wire we decided to try the other side with SUCCESS!! Great hide, although we made it harder than it actually was.
Spent close to an hour looking at possible hiding spots of the Difficulty, and Terrain of the cache ratings, and at least the headlights weren't going dim yet. Finally Cookie stuck his arm in there, and retrieved the intact cache. Nice

2100 GAFF1 Wish I had read a bit more before heading up the creek in a barbed-wire canoe. Don't know if there is a 'caveat' on the cache, but in the end I thought I would have to put a Disable, or Maintenance Required note, but was able to retrieve the cache from a potential possums nest (or carpet python). Cache dry and intact, but could do with another log sheet, as we are using somebodies cache page printout.
