Im currently on the great novo Leap Day road trip of 2024 which starts in the north east of VIC and heads to Mildura via Echuca and Swan Hill, then on into SA through the Riverland and Barossa before heading to Adelaide for [The Leap Day event](https://coord.info/GL1BKDZBZ), and then the Adelaide Hills and greater ADL area for some cache cherry-picking before heading south to Millicent via the Fleurieu Peninsula. This is probably the biggest geocaching road trip I have undertaken to date with around 200 finds planned!A shorter caching day today after having an awesome overnight stay with a long-time muggle friend in McLaren Vale. Was going to do this one earlier this arvo but was running low on fuel so I needed to shuffle things around a bit in order to find a servo; at Second Valley of all places. The climb up spider valley started off pretty well but then it got steeper and steeper and STEEPER. The GPS could only really give me proximity here but I printed off a satellite map with a few landmarks on it (the bush at the bottom near the trail and the bush half-way up) which enabled me to visually project a direction. That was helpful when getting down (um UP) to the final 20m or so, which was really 30 metres. The scramble was quite real by this point. Then, at the 10m mark... the SPIDERS! They were all of a sudden everywhere and I didn't know what to do as it is already quite tough terrain - it's not like I just go around. The now fairly stiff breeze was also not helping with my balance. The footing at this point in the climb was quite unstable, all of this collectively making the final bite of this journey quite difficult! I unfortunately had to destroy a few webs but I also managed to climb over/ through heaps more. There were some Orbs here but most of the spiders appeared to be Christmas Spiders. The webs and spiders wouldn't translate to camera unfortunately but I can verify that the place has it's unofficial name for good reason! Finally found myself at a likely spot which the GPS confirmed, but there were a number of places it could be here. Wow what a view into the valley too! I eventually found the cache in a likely spot that I didn't immediately locate and didn't realise the hide until it was actually uncovered. This is a special hide and what a spot! Two years of unloved, and on a mega trip at that too (where is everyone?), is the cherry on top. TFTC and have another FP, Zytheran, which is three from three. Can't wait to come back someday for more.#1897
The Adam website appears to be down. And has been for months. I hope this cache can be salvaged.
Tallbikestan and I walked from the north to find this cache. Well earned terrain stars. The cache and logbook are in good condition. TFTC Zytheran
A fun adventure after work with [@Davidwazza](http://coord.info/PR61VZX) ! TFTC
A Zytheran puzzle that even I solved relatively quickly. This was solved in my earlier geocaching experience whilst filtering puzzles by difficulty rating, and hurrah, a puzzle-solving method that I could recognise. Subsequently, this was a cache that had been in my to find list for some time, and the description of spider valley had always allured me to complete this adventure.
Today with COVID-19 requirements still in effect, I headed out with my household and geocaching buddy [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) for some hiking adventures along the Fleurieu Peninsula. We were also targeting some key geology sites that were good analogs to some of our oil and gas work.
We had a few walks along the ocean checking out some of the sea caves, before stopping off in Second Valley to look at the cliffs and study its marble deposits (a repeated visit for me, but first for [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T)). We had lunch at Normanville, and then headed back south for a few hikes in Second Valley Forest, and Middle Fence Forest, before heading home via Inman Valley. A great opportunity to also have stopped to study Selwyn's Rock (Glacier Rock) nearby. Despite some concern of rain, the day was pretty good with our fitness, but there were some cold winds.
This was one of a few target caches that I thought would make a good plan for today, and so we parked in a spot that I knew well, and walked along the coastline. Once we got close, I started making my way up, and kept checking various rocks, although I looked up even further, and a beacon stood out that really could only contain the cache there. Still, I continued to eliminate various hiding spots whilst continuing to climb. Sure enough, once I was there, the cache container was quickly found, with the container and logbook in good shape. It was nice to see cards and checkers in the container as swag, as I chuckled that they may be useful if one becomes stuck up here, and needs to wait to be rescued? Thanks Zytheran for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was also nice to have found this cache with 554 days [18.2 months] of unfound love since its last find on 20/10/2018.
Unfortunately, there wasn't many spider webs to match this cache's name? Almost none at all. Maybe it's the season, or maybe the previous Geocachers over time have cleared them out. Shame shame, but all the other webs I've walked into whilst geocaching has probably made up for it. Awesome views around the place nevertheless.

Had worked out the coords over a year ago and have always had this one on the list to do. Today we wandered along the beach and made the climb to a place where we had walked pre-geocaching, where we took our 2 dogs down through Spider Valley from the top of the ridge to the beach.
Got to around GZ and after a few minutes of searching it was the geowifes keen eyes that spotted the Z-cache in a likely hiding spot. Happy to sign the cache and take in the amazing view. Thanks for another great adventure Zytheran!

Oh nemesis of mine. Took the previous finder with me today to make it 4th time lucky and what would you know? It was in the very first place I looked (surely unmissable on 3 previous attempts). No excuses - sometimes the gods lead you astray. TFTC
Solved this puzzle many, many moons ago, but only just came out to try and find it. This was my mums 4th time trying to find this, and apparently the 4th time is the charm! Spent an exhausting morning walking out here, but really enjoyed the scenery and the fresh air. My legs are aching after this one!
TFTC!
TFTC!
I can't remember how long this has lain in gsak waiting to be found...
Dragged Astro along the beach, but I went up the hill alone! Soft...
No spiders today, and relatively straightforward climb and find. Co-ords were spot on. I wouldn't like to come all that way for a dnf!
Left a tb too.
Thanks

I have a mild ... ok big arachnophobia, which is why I have sat on these coords for over 2 yrs.
There is no better way to get over a phobia than deal with the beast head on! Today was the day.
The view south from the car park is magnificent. But my gps had GZ 1km away, not 700m as the geochecker info suggests. A quick geocheck in the field confirmed I should just my GPS.
Nice walk along sand, shells and rock soon had me at a point where sweat was the order for the day.
Tough scramble up the weedy hill and short final sandy then rocky cliff.
Cache was soon in hand after a look around a prominent feature.
Thankfully no spiders today. So that means the phobia remains.
TFTC and expedition.

So it was the 22/12/2012 when I last attempted this.
I didnt realise it had been so long ago.
A boiling hot day last time had me leaving in frustration after a fruitless search.
So here I was 4 years later having another go.
Once more struggled up the hill and came out a lot higher than I needed.
So back down to the obvious spot and let the search begin again.
This time it was exactly where I had looked the first time round.
So I was able to make a mark and claim a smiley.
Went down the easy way and ran into a big spider down the bottom when I climbed through a gap.
Glad I had something on my head I think you would have heard me screaming back in adelaide if I feft that run across my face.

What a rock climb. Beautiful spot quite secluded beach and saw two sea eagles whilst climbing and spiders thanks
A bit of a search was required here, the cache had taken a tumble down the hill and was not at GZ. I returned it back to the logical spot as it was definitely not in place so it should be an easier find for the next person. A satisfyingly find after all that rock scrambling, thanks for the hunt this afternoon:)
Today we are being chauffeur driven by Brad & Janet and meeting up with some others to tackle some of these along here, was a great day caching in the group and the walk along here was great, saw lots of sea sponges along the way and i love spiders so this wasn't a scary place for me TFTC
We assembled to goats to tackle the side of the cliff today. Goats went left, more went right, some went up, some went down, around and around. After quit a significant search I finally spotted the cache and it was signed and returned to its spot. TFTC. 10/09/2016, 10:00 AM Find #2760
A group assault was planned consisting of B&J, JJ52, 3LG, Sir_spectre and Anymules. Walked the 1.2kms then we went up to where the spiders were, there was some huge ORBS observed but the cache seemed elusive. We found the stash as noted in previous logs but still no cache. Searched every possible nook and cranny. Finally the words of FOUND IT was heard. Log signed and replaced where found. Anothe Z cache done and dusted.
There have been more complex Zytheran puzzles. But there have also been easier GZs to get to. This was one of three long solved but not yet found puzzle caches in the area. When I was invited to share a visit to GZ with another cacher this weekend it seemed like a good idea. As it turns out the group grew and a number of us set off on the walk down the coast. Eventually we found the spider valley. But finding the cache proved harder. We split up and searched and searched. I tried a PAF and was given quite clear instruction about the type of hide. And not long after the cache was found - in a spot which in no way matched the clear instructions. Cache creep? Maybe. Anyway we replaced it where we found it after all the signing duties were done.
And off to the next challenge.

after a pre cache warm up to this cache, I meet the group at the car parking co ords. I hike was taken to the gz, that hill is steeper than it looks. We crawled all over the hill and I even found a stash of glass jars full of pasta, given me false hope that it was the cache. found it later and after stamping duties done, off to the next cache. nice views. BONES also make the trip in his bag, attached to my backpack.
I was asked to come along for a group assault on this cache so was pleased that I could solve the puzzle, unlike a lot of other Z puzzles, but still got a couple of red crosses before the green tick.
There was a lot of mountain-goating and a lot of searching in an ever widening area before the cache was eventually found.
A great view from here and the waterfall was even flowing.
Thanks for the cache Zytheran.

This is my single most disappointing DNF ever. after doing 3 dives during the day we walked from the beach, probably not the best aproach then started the epic climb up once we reached the spiders. we climbed and spent over an hour looking and battling off the spider hordes. I thought we had it when my non caching friend asked what kind of containers caches are in. Turns out we found a survival stash of containers with soup, matches, sugar, candy, pens, thread, money, a comic and a porn mag and so forth. we took some pics as proof we at least found something for our efforts. eventually we had to leave so we would get down before dark. halfway down my friend realized hed left his sunnies back at ground zero so had to climb back up.. ended up pretty cut up on the legs. wear gaiters!!
After 2.5 years sitting hidden we finally let some fresh air into the cache. We spent 20 minutes looking in the obvious spot and after a number of rethinks we spotted the cache. Thanks for the puzzle and the cache. Climbed down the dry waterfall which was great fun.
Found it after our second day searching. NOT in the obvious location. Might take a bit of looking around. TFTC awesome view at sunset!
I surrender. Take me to your leader. Found lots of spider but no geocache today.

Got the location and walked along the path until i was told to go vertically. Had my daughter with me so will have to return alone to retrieve.
Found as a part of TheKellyGang, writing this as a genaric log as I was a part of TheKellyGang and am now out on my own.
If you do not agree with this you are more than welcome to delete the log.

June Long Week end is now coming to an end and time to head home but why not do a few more caches before leaving and a couple other caches to do before we officially leave the area. Geodad and Geodaughter we met up with Laighside Legends doing a few caches. As they returned from the cache above there was a remote controilled plane flying around and a Handglider flying above as we went to drive off from this one more Handgliders were flying above. TFTC
Found It!
After the last unsuccessful visit I've received many hints on where it is and then after Tardis found it yesterday I knew it must be there so today I went back to GZ with TheKellyGang. I will say it is a much nicer walk when it's not 40 degrees! The many hints payed off and I spotted it with a minute of getting to GZ!

Mr Tardis solved this puzzle about two years ago after some Googling. Having never cached this far south, it sat in the to do pile until today. A nice walk along the beach and then a not so nice walk up a hill
A really beautiful GZ - how do you find these places? There were no orb weaver spiders around GZ - probably because it was too cold and windy. The only spider seen was by me when I lifted up a rock looking for the cache and a small huntsman spider greeted me. We mutually scared each other and I screamed like a girl.
After 10 minutes of searching (due to dodgy sat lock and vertical terrain) I spotted the cache, after searching in the obvious-but-not-correct place.
A really great adventure. Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Zytheran

June long weekend event and a group of Froghoppin, Tardis Trio, Flipper&Co and us when for a walk in the soft sand than for a nice steep climb and soon had the cache in hand.
Great location TFTC

Down enjoying the June long weekend event and a group of Team scoobster, Tardis trio, flipper&co and us ventured out to this one, soft sand and a nice steep climb with many eyes searching it wasn't long before the sweet sound of success echoed up the valley scaring away all the spiders, great location TFTC
In town with gadanga and DPA for the nearby birthday event.
Came for a walk down here with LL, then the climb up.
Spent quite a while searching but came up empty. It was quite warm and retreating for another day seemed like a good idea.
Next time !!!!!

Went for a walk to this one with ttrog. After 30mis of sherching we still couldn't find it. Tried to phone some of the previous finders but CoC was the only one whose phone was on and in signal range. He told us that we were in the correct spot but he couldn't remeber exactly how it was hidden. After a bit more sherching we still couldn't find it so we gave up...
Not sure about gargantuan spiders but the ones I did see made up for their lack of size with numbers. These bloody little multi-coloured star-shaped things were everywhere. Mtn_Lioness would have had a coronary.
The trek along the beach was nice enough, plenty of beach-goers today. Seems sensible enough. I continued my rock-hopping along the platform until the GPSr pointed up there. Hmmmm, this should be interesting. I made my way to the top of the rocky ridge and hunted around to no avail. Gave a previous finder a buzz. Damn, no answer. It was at that moment I looked down to realise that my shoe had been obscuring my view of the cache about 3 feet below. Woohoo!! Begone spiders!!
Co-ords spot, check out the pic. Another Z challenge overcome. TFTC Z.

I was heading out to SPC (Senior Parrot Central) today so thought I would decode this one the night before so I would be able to do a bit of exploring today after lunch.
No problem with the puzzle, no problem getting a park, no problem with that beautifull little walk to the approach to GZ, no problem getting to GZ.
Well unless you get bitten or fall off it has to be all good dosent it.
I certainly made this tougher than it needed to be by going out with the heat hovering somewhere over the 30 degree celcius mark and giving my hat to Mystery Girl who had forgotten hers.
However I got to a point where my GPS said 2 metres and found a place that fitted my profile of where the cache would be placed. There was certainly cahe hiding material where I looked but no cache.
I did look for sneaky nearby hides but couldnt see anything and having a lot of faith in Liz and Bruces log about how accurate the position was those other tempting spots 10 metres away just didnt seem right.
So I packed it in and went back down as I am happy to come back another day when it is a bit cooler and spend a bit longer up there searching after I have seen someone else has found it.

Found after a nice walk, and a fun climb up the waterfall. Great view. No spiders at all, but a couple of hang-gliders had a bit of a look. I wonder who was crazier? Had a bit of an explore down the coast and saw something very interesting, hahaha!

The hunt for the Fleurieu treasure continues. The Large spider egg found in the pirate cave could only mean one thing. The treasure had been moved to a place so fearsome few dare to set foot, Spider Valley.
The fearless Captain Cockroach set about without his crew in the hope to uncover the treasure chest. The road was long and the climb treacherous, but finally the spider hideout was uncovered. But again to his dismay, no gold and no gem stones. Tiny pieces of granite were strewn across the place and above the rocks was a drawing of a skeleton, teasing him, daring him to come and visit the most inhospitable place of all, the Skeleton Crevasse. So it’s back to the drawing board for captain cockroach, still hoping that one day he may go to the crevasse and finally find the gold treasure (to be continued….)

With my wife, daughter and French exchange student doing some horse riding in Normanville, I was given a 'whole' hour to do some caching while they were on the trail. I had to choose between maybe 5 or 6 vanilla caches, or knock off a Z mystery that's been on my list for a long time. Quality wins over quantity every time!!!.
Walking along the beach below the sloping headlands, I expected to come across the Statue of Liberty, and to realize that this was Earth!, but nothing so startling appeared. What I did see was no spiders (nor lizards, snakes or in fact anything at all). Was I in the right place? A nadir in the biosphere? I pressed on regardless. Then, I had a bit of deja vu climbing the loose rock face up to GZ, but I was uber-careful. Up and up I went. Evermore rock climbing.
With 8 metres to go on my GPS, I figured I should start looking for standard crevices for the cache, but came up zero. Eventually, I found a spot with only 2 metres left and found a location that looked just right. A poke here, and a poke there and at last, the big white Z on a black box. Woohoo!. Another log signing in a very familiar orientation - 75 degrees to the vertical.
Thanks for the walk along the beach, Zytheran.

Attempted this one today but after seeing alot of lizardsout and about we figured the snakes wouldn't be far behind on such a warm morning so we decided to give up and come back when its cooler.
Found it
Went down rocky cliffs
Thought we found it but it was a metre behind us

3 Astro's eh. From the bottom it looked like you could break bones if you fell. Perhaps it looked scarier than it was but it took some getting to. We saw the dosed road after clambering up from the beach. Doh! But up up up and more up we went. The frog had more steam than Astro and put his hand on the box first this time. I took some shots.
Those little spiders were everywhere. Luckily the wind blew them off me when you got out of the lee side of that massive rock. I hoped that stayed there for some more moments on our way down. the cache would be stuffed if that decided to move.
Clear skies MR Z for another spot on the surface of the planet I would have never visited. AN enriching experience.

The spiders have gone on holidays. Plenty of evidence that there are big ones around here and lots of little fellas. Higher and higher you get. I guess Spider Cliff does not have the same ring as Spider Valley. The slope is so steep I was sliding on my backside down some of the terrain. Spectacular is a good word for 3 star terrain.
We've solved the puzzle with some help from Liz and Bruce and we will attempt to find this one soon.
We always treat Z's caches with the respect they deserve and this was no exception. This morning at the Yankalilla community library we checked photos on the internet and read all the previous logs relating to accessing this cache. Feeling like we were on the right track we headed off at low tide, found a good place to park the car and enjoyed a just over a km walk on the beach heading to gz. As we got closer Bruce noticed a trail along the hill which was heading in the right direction and giving him some elevation while I kept to the beach. As we got closer to gz Bruce climbed up and I did as well but I was a lot lower than he was but at least I could keep a watchful eye on his progress. Though I'm not sure what good that does but it made me feel better. Bruce made the climb without any difficulty and managed to find the cache within about a minutes (the coords were spot on) he saw lots of spider webs but no spiders - maybe not a good nighttime cache unless you like spiders. So with satisfaction I can say we had managed another Zytheran cache successfully and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thanks Zytheran.
With Mrs and Baby O dropped off at the beach in Normanville, it was down to Mr O to make the perilous journey through spider-filled country to get to this special cache. You can really see why it's called Spider Valley - the spiders started appearing on the upwards approach so a clearing stick was essential all the way. And some of these mothers are BIG! Made the zigzagging climb up to GZ, then commenced a lengthy search. It was apparent after a while that a huge network of spiderwebs would have to be "negotiated" to get to the obvious spot. That wasn't necessary, and another way up was found. Cache was found after about five minutes' searching around the feature (after clearing yet more webs away). Surprisingly, no spiders had made the cache their home. Took a GC and some photos of the excellent views. Definitely one to remember. TFTC Z.
Its very hot out there but the walk was ended with a swim in the ocean. Nice view thanks Z! Picked up pathtag 9201214 and now just have to work out what to do with it.

We thought we might be able to get to this cache from Wirrina. The maps showed a track. We drove in and were blocked by a locked gate. Our only joy was that it was hailing at the time and we considered that Zee might be involved in the Rogaining activity that was happening at the grounds of the resort. Suffer baby.
A locked gate. We were not stupid enough to attempt this in the heavy freezing rain. AS we chuckled a Uee, it started to hail. Man that would sting on the blood soaked muddy skin of those rogainers. At least they organizers feed you guys
Got a bit sidetracked with Dad-Bronsen with the nice views. Caught a glimpse and found the cache easily, while dad was still looking for a micro-who knows why. Took a pathtag, left tombola and geocoin. SL Thanks Zytheran for the great cache.
Found with my daughter Mooshell. The last couple of days have been great caching with her. Heading home tomorrow to get things ready for school. I do not know why i was looking for a micro. Perhaps the fall last night done some thing. I normally like caching at night. But best to do these in light. I have had a challenge put to me to do a cache at night just recently. I have to come back down to adelaide in a couple of weeks for my regular cancer check up so i might try and do it then. TFTC. SL.
**FTF** with Indaweeds at 20:40!!
After missing a ftf on a Z cache last weekend we had to make ammends. A night time raid seemed the go (the attributes weren't read until after the find!). The first leg was leisurely and fairly uneventful except for the odd trip in the dark. The final leg was most interesting. The spiders are bigger at night! And at night the terrain seems like 4 1/2 stars. Another great cache. Thanks Zytheran

Well that was fun!
Probably one of the most aptly names caches I've done so far. Those spiders are everywhere! Even more exciting when you're shining your torch at our feet so as not to step off a cliff, only to glance up and be face to face with one of the giant arachnids. I probably took a couple back to the car with me too...guess I'll find out next time I'm driving to work and one drops out of the sunvisor...
I wouldn't put too much faith in those attributes though... I doubt my dog would get anywhere near GZ, and I think it's probably preferable doing it at night. That way you can't see how far down it is...
Thanks for another fun adventure Mr Z.
