# 161 - Loved this cache, it was great to have a good excuse to look around and the containers were great - we thought the first WP was Bluey, but is it possible the second is Squid?! Oh well, thanks for bringing us here billywillysillydilly, took TB, TFTC
Found by Mary & David at 1140. What an interesting site. We are quite familiar with George's story and Fortuna. David was once CO of the RAAF School of Radio, which had an annual sporting competition with the Army Survey Regiment dating back to the RAAF's days in Ballarat. In that capacity, we enjoyed a visit to Fortuna and were granted a tour of the magnificent mansion. Picked up "Unser Haus geht auf Reisen2" TB, dropped off "Tonka traveling Signal" TB. Our thanks to billywillysillydilly.
First wp was found easily but I had trouble with the second when I had a boy's look in the first place I spotted. Then after having a 'proper' look I got the co-ords and wiped the egg off my face! And the spider webs too, because I'd done the Indiana Jones trip into the tunnel in search of the prize. But my quest for the final was aborted when I got a phone call to collect a sick son from school so I'll have to come back another time to finish this one.
Found with leoch00ks1 and p@rrot at 5:50pm.
What a hot day for a walk around Victoria Hill it was today!
I really enjoyed the different style of container for the waypoints in this one and I'm sure others will.
A simple yet enjoyable multi cache and heaps of room for swaps in the cache made it really worthwhile. I also noticed muggles watching us from across the road as leochooks replaced the container.
TNLN SL.
Also dropped a TB.
Thanks billywillysillydilly.
Cheers,

This was a delight to undertake in location lavish with history, endeavour and achievement. At each WP the 'item' brought a smile (and on one made me jump to the amusement of my companions). Found the cache after completing the clues but it was the site and the fact this multi took you for a ramble around the site that was of interest. The rock formations, the old infrastructure and the information bollards make this ideal for adults and children alike. I'd reckon the rock formations and colours after rain would be amazing. Too, it's a sobering reminder of the violent bushfire that swept through not that long ago and the memorial at the entrance to the site gives one cause for introspection. Greatly enjoyed this caching experience and thanks to 'billywillysillydilly'.
Found today on a nice sunny day with the help of some fellow cachers. Love the containers TFTC!!!!!!
A quick visit to make sure the cache is OK. It's fine, I grabbed both the TB's as I have an interesting excursion to take them on shortly.
Thanks to the Daveykids for contacting me and retrieving the bucket cache from some muggles. The bucket will be returned to the final waypoint before the 8th Sept 2011. All will be servicable again.
We liked exploring the tunnels. We found a few good ones, thanks for bringing us here. We like the creatures.
Been to this area a few times for caches, but it is always interesting to come back and have another look. It is lucky that you didn't use the signs, as they all seem to have gone! Did like the way point containers though.
A nice walk around the area, and a quick find.
Particularly liked the view from the tower, and the crusher.
Thanks, Robmc.

Thank billywillysillydilly. Nice adventure through mining relics. Critters were interesting as was the massive cache! TNLN.
#1167 @ 5.15pm. We had been in this area completing another multi earlier and had left only to realise later that this one was in the same area (der) - furthermore, we realised that the fence goes right around this area when trying for a quicker way to WP1! So we started off again and walked further into this place exploring as we went. Fantastic history here and we were glad that we were enticed in further. Dad found the cleverly hidden WP's and the Queen assisted with the find at GZ. TNLNSL TFTC billywillysillydilly - looks like we were following in the footsteps of tideysmileys

I visited here with Mr Coffee and the Clan, the boys certainly enjoyed exploring the area and helping us find our way to gz where we soon found one of the largest caches that we seen for awhile.
Thanks billywillysillydilly for an enjoyable cache

There have been several caches here, not surprisingly. This one however was the first that made me realise that there several shafts that can still be entered here! I wonder if anyone does? Cache was found without any problems thanks billywillysillydilly.
A great find - took tent peg for next camping adventure. Geo Keegs cannot remember what he swapped for it though...it was our first find for the day and Geo Mum has a memory like a sieve! We did swap for something though. A great cache for Bluey & Squid (T&E - we know who you are )
Cheers & happy caching

hopefully I can find enough time to find a few more caches while on holiday here.

I had an interesting walk through this park, it's a shame that there are no interpretive signs here (there's evidence of them having been here once). The hardest part about this cache was finding the way in, eventually finding the reserve on the Calder Highway.
Thanks billywillysillydilly for bringing me here.

While waiting to have a windscreen fitted to the geomobile, took the opportunity to head over to find Bluey & Squid. Located each of the 2 waypoints with co-ordinates that were spot on and then it was off to find the final GZ. Found quickly and the log was signed. TFTC
Found 12.00 noon
We enjoyed the walk around the 3 locations and managed to work out what we needed to do. The final cache was a great size with osme very nice swaps in it but we had nothing suitable to swap so took nothing.

Found with Purpledreamer, Coruze and Lonewolf98 on a pretty relaxing caching day. It was good to be out caching with some other locals from up my way. Very large cache at GZ located. Credit to Coruze for the solving of the multi. TFTC.
We commenced this one on our last trip to Bendigo along with another Multi, due to time restraints we gathered the required info and left the final for another trip and today was the day! We were caching with other fellow cachers after the Bendigo event and were not disappointed when we found the BUCKET OF GOODIES. Nice to see a cache with decent toys for the kids. Unfortunately we didn't have any toys with us on this trip so we dropped a pathtag and geocoin. This was a nicely set multi! SL TFTC
Out at lunch again... walken along..
to a cache today.. thanks loved the implementation.

Found cache today. WP 1 no problems. WP2 took a bit more searching for. No problems with cache at ground zero. Took ball and left tattoos. Signed log. Thanks for the cache.
Enjoyed wander this place - my second visit.... never bored yet... Excellent hide spot.... No swap. SL. Thanks billywillysillydilly

Visited this one a few weeks back but in the rush to get away due to muggles approaching i totally forgot to log it. Great hide and by far the best stash we have come accross so far.
By far our best cache today. Great spot I didn't even know was there. Both waypoints show you something interesting f the area. Found GZ fairly easy but had to be hasty in our rehiding as we were being muggled with only seconds to spare. Think we did a pretty good job though and hope we don't spoil the search for the next finders. TNLN
Quick walk to the first waypoint. We let our muggle senses down for a minute to collect the next set of coordinates and we were sprung upon by The Easts. Didn't even see them coming. After having a laugh that we were so carless (only time all day) we continued to Wp2. Both waypoints were unique and a cool idea.
Located the 20ltr stash quickly, Didn't have any swaps to make though, bag was in the car.
Enjoyed the walk around this area. Great location and an all round good cache
Thanx

Ah yes, muggled big time! That will teach me to actually be on the phone when I should just be pretending. They were very good fun about it. The two waypoints also brought a smile to our faces and the final cache container was very grand indeed. I even spied a Rubik's cube!
Many thanks for showing me this section of the reserve,

Find # 3248 and 4th of the day @ 10:54 am. Accompanied by Feathertop on another day out caching in Bendigo. Nice little walk around. TNLN, Left my mark in the log, Thanx Billywillysillydilly....
I have fond memories of coming here some 4 years ago to find Romax's cache. I never did find the bonus cache that was hidden here as well.
Once again I returned by the same turnstiled entrance that I had taken all those years ago.
This cache too me to the far end of this site and showed me a few more points of interest.
The large container was easily found as were the amusing WP caches.

Thanks

Lovely evening for a stroll around my favorite type country side. It was dusk and the kids took off climbing where they shouldn't, found stash quickly, what a loot! Took nothing as didn't take our swap bag with us.

Lady Morris spent mother's day "doing her thing" for a couple of the new local caches. She managed to collect all the waypoints with ease but then struggled to find the stash. How hard can it be to find a 20lt container! Thanks to the previous finders it had been very cleverly camouflaged. Impressive contents - for the seciond time today she was sorry she hadn't grabbed the swaps bags. TFTC

Having been at this location placing a Geocoin the day the cache was planted, we had noted the restrictions on the availability of access and, given the cache was published late in the evening, opted to join the queue early in the morning. So needless to say, when doing a final check of the cache notes the following morning prior to heading off, we were extremely surprised to see the cache had already been logged - someone must have had knowledge of a secret access point! So we had given the hunt a miss until we happened to be in the area. W/P's quickly found and a very large container filled with goodies was located using excellent co-ordinates. We wern't sure which of the w/p's represented Bluey and which represented Squid.

Sharna had just said that she needed shin pads for soccer for the school team this week when we read the last log so decided to give it a go even though dusk was falling. We packed the torches and headed off on an adventure. Loved it but got a bit freaked out by the low flying bats that were very noisy and were aiming black tar like splodges at us. In the end the shin pads were far too small but the glow bacelets will be perfect for the school social which is fluro themed. Put in a new virtual pet. We were really impressed by this one will hit the op shops for shin pads.
10.30pm
Found by Roma and Max in the company of Team Boofa and Crazy Creels.
It was somewhat like a mini geo convention tonight with torches flickering in the night!
Although not first at the posted co-ordinates Max found your wpt1.
We all proceeded to the next set of numbers and Paul found your wpt2.
Once again we all set off to GZ where your large container fell to the combined assault. Would you believe that we had to search through our geo gear to find a pen.
Thank you again Bill for adding another hide in this very interesting and significant historical site.

Thankgoodness Jnr boofa had his caching backpack and finally found a pen in the bottom to log. We must be crazy to be out this time night. SL Picked up TB TFTC
Bluey almost got his arm maulled off finding the first Wpt and Squid screamed on locating the second. Found GZ while Bluey was running back to collect his swap which he left behind at the first wpt. He came back to find it on his own though. Thanks for the tribute to the best fairdinkum ozzy blokes I know. Squid swapped Jurassic Man and his pet veloceraptor for the Devil's mask. Bluey added the coasters to his collection for his shin pads. We tried to get there first Silly Bill only the parks closed between 6pm and 8am so we waited til after school. Cheers mate join us for a beer soon, tonight if your free!
