There is no way known that people can DNF an 80L barrel, unless it has gone missing. Who steals 80L worth of books?!
Oh well, Wollongong's biggest cache is no more.

Normally I look forward to, and love doing bush caches, but had no luck with this one today. Will be back another time to attempt
Wasn't too keen to go past the warning signs...ridiculously large fines apply if you're spotted. I didn't have 3G in there so perhaps the cache was closer than expected, just didn't want to push my luck poking around an area which is now under surveillance.
Such a shame, we were really excited to find this.

Went for a short 20km bush hike and ended up here. With 1% battery on my phone I quickly fired up the geo pointer and found the coordinates spot on. Yep thats the biggest cache I've seen making this my 8th find. Hoo hoo! Managed to avoid the leaches as it was raining.
looks like some one has chopped down a few trees near gz. don't get stuck like me trying to go down Miranda Rd which is now closed great to see a cache this size.

You know when you go looking and you have a pre conceived idea of what the area will be like, well I had that idea and wasn't even close.
Found the second biggest cache ever but it was well exposed just laying in clear view possibly due to someone getting the chainsaw into action and taking fire wood from close proximity. Cache was not compromised in any way so hid just a few metres away in a more protected position.

Found after a short search. Was out with a couple of young muggles having just walked the Mt Kembla Ring Track. TFTC
TFTC and thank you for the great location. Caches like this make it a worthwhile activity. Wow what a great size. Took a TB Left mirrors
I really enjoyed this cache!! Fun size isn't always small with planet161 we found our biggest cache to date, enjoyed the beautiful and quiet atmosphere and saw a big ol' wombat. The only problem was our navigator kept trying to take us down Miranda Rd which is now closed, make sure to enter via Cordeaux Rd... thanks for the awesome cache
Up and up we went and in and out of "service" but lucky it came back for ozartist at GZ. The biggest we have found to date!!! Had fun taking everything out and checking it all out!! Loved the huge pen but is was a bit hard to write with but it seemed appropriate to use to to log this find!! Took a treasure each n left some lil goodies for those that follow!! Such a lovely spot, we will visit again when the sun is higher n the days are warmer. Oh n we saw a big hairy wombat where we turned the car around!! So much nature in on trip up the mountain oh n I left a "bug" but was unable to log my pickup so I'm guessing I can't log the drop off please log it if u take it
An easy drive in before finding the biggest cache i have found yet. Lots of books inside so that it took us 10 minutes just to find the logbook. The cache was found amid the wreckage of a tree and covered in sawdust. I'd say this cache it not where it was supposed to be as it was right next to the road as visible from the road. It also had a kind of tape draped on around the fallen tree. TFTC!

Woh! What a trip.
I had just returned from "Lake Views" and searched for any other caches on that road, and found this cache.
Had a few scary moments with big holes and mud slicks, I wasn't sure my commodore could make it.
Managed to get to gz and there was nothing. No place to pull off the road, no bends. But there was some sign of wear and _tear.
Found the barrel and signed log.
Now to turn around?
The mud was just as slippery on the return trip, just down hill!
Sweet bitumen once back on real road!
Now who wants to wash my car? LOL!

WOW, so this is what a "large" cache looks like..."awesomeness".
watch out for leeches they are sticky little buggas....hubby got the leech cause ive got a busted ankle and can only watch from a distance...good thing me thinks.
Its a nice drive out this way, with a 4WD its great, there are a few bog holes so just be cautious when its wet and you have a 2WD. STLB
thanks for the caches "Hoojar"

A bit of a detour but well wort it. The bushscape on the roadside is very impressive. We have tried this one before but finally came in on the right road. The biggest cache container I have seen, great. SLTN..TFTC
Been wanting to doing this one for some time. What an amazing drive to GZ, the vegetation along the way varies so much and some of it looks pre historic, soon cache located, wow it's huge, did swaps. TFTC. Fav point from us.

Reperio at 1255.
It's not too often you get to find a nice big 'large' type of cache, and even rarer to find a cache that goes beyond the 20L requirement...so when I noticed this one a couple of weeks ago...I had to put it on my to do list to do today. The road out to GZ was better than expected, and I was surprised to find a few 4WD's out near GZ since the road was closed up ahead. Enjoyed the drive out here, and even more so for a container of this size.
Gratias Hoojar.

I was quite surprised to find a track like this in the escarpment open to traffic; gates seem to be the norm. So we enjoyed the drive, got some mud on the tyres and even selected 4wd for a slippery section.
The cache is a ripper, and is quite rightly guarded by two massive leeches, much to the terror of the geokids and wifey!
Thanks for the cache Hoojar!

Thanks to Nashy and his magical mystery tours to this cache (this was his third trip since finding it himself), was finally able to reach GZ and thought it appropriate the first book I saw was on 4WDriving. Loved the adventure as much as a sizeable cache… maybe I should have taken that book!
Not going to log this as a DNF as we made it there but turned back because of rain and other issues.
My mate and I decided to go for a bike ride, and I mentioned that we go up Cordeaux road and follow it around to Harry Graham drive. This was not the best decision I have made.
My mate had a road bike (Honda cb250) and i had a road trail (kinlon 200) both of which was not suitable for the rocky, slippery road with trenches the size of the grand canyon and enough mud/clay to make a sculpture the size of the statue of liberty!
Within 500m of the GZ my mate got bogged and required a great deal of strength to get it out. After making it to within 50m of the GZ we the rain began and instead of continuing on Cordeaux road we were faced with a dead end as it was closed due to a catchment area. SOO we had to go back through everything once more......
On the way back a we met a guy who had bought a dirt bike and broke down.. funny that...so he jumped on the back and I doubled him back to his car 6kms away.
after a 2hr clean up of both my bike and I, I went for a nap.

Found this with Nashy, StumbleTrip and Cosmo_Sizlack. Enjoyed the drive up in Nashy's Prado - glad we didn't try it in our car.
Came across a muggle with a busted motor bike on the way up Cordeaux Road who needed a lift back down the hill. So after driving up the second time we arrived at GZ. Geohusband took off down a track, not sure why...after about 30 minutes and several other tracks, leeches and scratches all up our legs, gave up - only to turn around and spot the cache Left a few books, signed the log and quickly closed it up and hid it again as a 4WD muggle was on its way down the track. Lovely part of the world, nice to visit again. TFTC.
Found but not the literary cache I was expecting. Awesome scenery, Hoojar, thanks for the hide.

I seriously did not know that Cordeaux Rd went that far..! Loved the size of the cache. Almost lost my sunnies while clearning the camo. Looking foward to my new read, and hoping that someone else will enjoy the one I dropped off. Cheers for cache Hoojar..
The kids and I really enjoyed getting to this one then finding and opening it. It was huge! Picked up a leech somewhere here. Luckily i saw it before it started feeding. The road was fairly busy here with 3 or 4 joggers, a cyclist and two other cars. Some morons towed a burnt out car wreck accross the track while i was in at the cache. The road is a dead end so it blocked the only way out. Luckily we just squeezed past.
Took the red all terrain corolla of death for a trip into the unknown - a few hairy moments of 'do I actually have enough clearance', but we sucessfully found our way to GZ. The kids had a mighty chuckle at this one when we found the container - especially liked appropriately sized pen and drumstick gags - very good. Had to hid the cache quickly to avoid being muggled by some very keen cyclists. Great adventure - well hidden, nice gags. Took Canadian Geocoin, SL TFTC
Found at 12.30.
Like these out of the way caches.
Love exploring areas we havnt been to before.
Thanks Hoojar for bringing us here this is our type of area as well.
Lots of tall trees & ferns.
The road in after the rain is a bit wet & slippery but thankgoodness for 4X4's.
Lots of goodies, bring a book to exchange.
Took an Oakcoil.
Left a Canadian Geocoin.
Also took a book. Thanks.
This is the largest cache we have found so far.(thought about leaving geowife in
cache container but thought better of it.)

From one end of the dam to the other, not that you can get close to the water from this end, all in the name of chasing caches. A pleasant drive in the late afternoon, with not a muggle to be seen. Drove as far as I could, then turned back for the cache. Hard to miss this one! It seems that someone shares the same taste in books, there was only one there that I didn't have, and of course now I have it! Shame to see the untended orchards and neglected small holdings. I still don't get the reasoning behind the multitude of little red and green signs. Thanks for the cache and the drive Hoojar.

What a super cache. Decided to grab this opportunistically as I went for a cache in Mt Kembla but was muggled out. Funny to drive past many muggles on the way to the cache. The road was pretty good. Nothing the urban geo vehicle couldn't handle with some slow driving. It was great slowly cruising through the bush on a sunny afternoon! Once at GZ I got thrown off by a wonky GPS reading but always thought it was going to be where it was. Nice big cache to be sure. Left the books for others but grabbed the green "P Plate". Very fitting that I have now got my green P's in geocaching. Highly recommended cache. Would like to bring the family out here one day to show them this lovely part of the world.

Hells yes! Found this bad boy after some young muggles drove past with a billy. Weird. Also disturbing was the amount of sci-fi novels in this gargantuan cache!
A very enjoyable cache Hoojar.
The cache container was so big and so full that it took us longer to find the log bog and pen than it did to find the cache itself.
We left a few goodies and took a green “Thingy”. It looks like it has a handle and a couple of rollers but we have no idea what it is or what it does.
Many thanks for bringing us back to an area we have not visited for years…

Another midnight cache. This place was amazing. We stopped on the way out to have a look at a gigantic tree that had fallen over; so epic. The spot was great, the drive was awesome too. Bit of mud never hurt anyone... and teeeeechnically my car IS a 4WD! Thanks a bunch for bringing us here. I never would have been otherwise, and I love this type of bush. The fog and the moonlight was so pretty, so eerie. Thanks again.
That's one big cache! Surprisingly the road was fairly busy today and we came across quite a lot of cars and bikes going far too fast!
Thanks,

Well certainly is a big cache as you will see from the photo we have posted as Mrs KC stretched in to retrieve the log book We have not been up here since the apple orchards closed down and the drive up was beautiful in the afternoon with the sun breaking through the tall trees and ferns. Such a shame is has been closed off to bushwalkers though. At present the cache container houses a library, so this is another good one in the area for a book exchange. TNLN TFTC
without a doubt the biggest cache i have ever found! makes me want to quite the micro life and trek the globe for the giant caches!

Ace 7 and I thought we needed a drive so off we headed down Cordeaux Road. I used mountain bike out here but was appalled at the state of the road, it certainly has deteriorated in the last 6 months. Anyway this was a fun cache especially if you want to sit, enjoy the bush and read. Left a CD and took a book. Thanks Hoojar
I have to concur with Steeba on this one. Its been a long time since I'd been up here and as I made my way towards GZ I turned the gizmo on and it still said something like 3kms to go. I immediately wondered whether the road went that far, but sure enough in sight of the finish I arrived at GZ.
I remember doin' recce out here many moons ago for a possible cache hide, but I'm sure that spot is now under the control of another authority. I see the hoons still like to leave their rubbish behind.
While the contents didn't interest me the container did. I know where to come when I need a spare dry container for canoeing.
Thanks Hoojar

I had forgotten how long it was to get up here. From a road that is only one house away from us it sure goes a long way.
I can't work out why it isn't closed off much further down as there doesn't seem to be anything up here anymore. When I was in high school we used to drive all around up here- when you could drive right through past the dam buildings and back out near the motorcross circuit.
Anyway, to the cache and this may even be the biggest I've ever found. . Thanks!

Well the sun had gone down now it was time for that eeiry drive along and old silent little used track going deep in the forest of want seemed doomed but with the the lights on high beam and the music pumping the monsters and creatures of the dark remained within it depths only to watch with glowing eyes at gz we stopped we looked before exiting the safety of the car Jake and I who was only wearing socks (to warm feet after the earlier beach walk) were the only ones brave enough to brave the dark. First this way. Hang on we are getting to far from the car so back to it's relative safelty. Then up over that log and Jake disappear. Oh no have the creatures of the dark taken him? No he had only just fallen into a very large cache and was being eaten by it's contents (well he would have it the lid wasn't on) the log book was extracted from the bottom and fraggle (a tb) was rescued from it's clutches and it was back to the safely of the car before the creatures of the dark could catch us and suck important caching hints and clues from our brains. Thanks hoojar for the advanture
I had been up this road before, but not all the way to the end. After a short think I took a guess of wich side to approach and that one turned out to be right. I knew the road wasn't that well (at least the part I knew) so i took my time driving down in my 2WD (after wet weather I don't think I would do so?) Drove all the way to the end and turned so I could grab this one. Wow what a big one this one is!!!
Unfortunately my car didn't make it, so I was forced to stay overnight. No worries all the facilities are available here (see pictures!)

YES FTF and the BIGGEST cache maybe in Australia! Certainly the largest I have ever seen. Certainly would inspire those who don’t get out of bed for nano’s to get up extra early for this one!! What can I say but a cache which is a rich repository of literature, and lots of it in fact 80lts of it! It is always good to find a well stocked ammo can in the bush, this one could easily take a ammo can or 5! Picked out something to read plus left a couple of TB’s including one which is a book of our night sky. Hoojar you have taken cache containers to a new JUMBO SIZE!!!
