We continued today our tour of several AUS states in the NorthWest and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Traditional-Cache.The weather was - said in one word simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood. The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging. Thanks to bubblensqueak for the generation of this nice cache Golden View (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they happened.Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood. Heading east today with goingplaces2 and covering a long distance. Stopped to pick up just a few caches. This one was a quick find. The grass fire had come close but thankfully the cache container was not affected. Log was signed and replaced. TFTC.
Found after having a chip sandwich and admiring the view.Coords are accurate and cache is in good condition. Thanks for putting it here.
frmen1 and I stopped at the lookout for lunch and enjoyed the view. A quick find with everything in good condition. So nice to see a decent sized cache. Left an item of swag. TFTC
After enjoying the sunset the day before, we came back to search for the cache. After a short search we found the conatiner and entered our name in the log book.TFTC
Nice view of town. Glad the grass was gone as those rocks may have been hazardous. Haven't seen one of those containers for awhile. TFTC
Lunch time in Croydon, so a cache for dessert was the perfect thing. Thank you for showing us this view. A ground-clearing fire has made this one a lot easier to find, but hasnt affected the cache at all. TN/LN and made our way back to the car and a pleasant drive to the dam.
A caching trip from Canberra, ACT to Cape York, Qld and then around the gulf to East Arnhem Land, NT.Now with a detour to Thursday Island.TFTC. Pulled at the same time as another van. Quick find and sign.
Great spot. Beautiful sunset. Big cache. I dropped off several travel bugs and a geocoin TFTC
Making a bit of a mad dash across from Karumba to head down towards Brisbane and avoid the cyclone area, we still had to head this way and of course just needed a few convenient spots to stop for a quick break. This being one of them. Cache was found in good order, signed and replaced as found. Good views from here!
We were traveling in this area after we left QOGM 2023 in Longreach and stopped here for a break and a smiley. We found the cache and signed the log.Tftc Bubblensqueak
bunadoorian and I had travelled from Karumba this morning. What a great view from this location. I found the lovely sized container first. TFTC and for bringing us here bubblensqueak.
A nice view of Croydon and a good sized cache all leads to a favourite point from me. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC.
Found while travelling across three states. We found it after disembarking from the Gulflander Rail train we caught from Normanton to Croydon. What an awesome ride. Thanks
Heading to Cape York with Papi4506, Geoturtle37 & Team Crackers, after the QOGM in Longreach. While the other teams were getting fuel, I shot up the hill for a quick find. Awesome view. Many thanks, bubblensqueak, for placing this cache for us and others to find.
OCW PelDroedGwin and geodog Peppa After exploring the fabulous displays in town we headed to the lookout. Amazing views and a great container. Tftc
Ocw the Bebes. A great view as would be expected from a lookout! A quick find as well. Tftc
Great view of Croydon from up here. The cache is in great condition for where it is. Glade we called out to do this find. Tftc.
Today we drove from Karumba to Georgetown and stopped at Lake Belmore for lunch. Very picturesque here and where we had lunch too. Quick find here, took the trackable to move on. TFTC
A nice view indeed! Looks like some kangaroos live around here. Cache was further down than expected but nice and big so an easy find at GZ. TFTViews!
Stopped in Croydon for lunch and went for this cache. It's nice to see an ammo tin as a container. Dropped a tb, tftc.
We loved exploring Croydon. The council has done a great job restoring / re-creating and maintaining so much of yester-year, with so many informative signs etc. We loved our time here. Thanks for bringing us out of town to this lookout, and then to the Oasis further along the road. TFTC. Great to see an old ammo box as a cache again, with so many goodies inside!
The first couple of steps were a bit hairy for an oldie like me but then smooth sailing. Great cache and great view. TFTC
A great cache, as were more common once, before those damned nanos made an appearance. I left a golden, bejewelled necklace. Favourite point for the good sized cache. TFTC bubblensqueak.
A great trip over to Queensland.
Was able to put a few smileys on the map.
This was one of them.
Now catching up with logging them with five minutes on the computer.

Great Northern escape 2022 Day 64. Croydon Day 1. I spent the day looking at the great historical areas around Croydon that I had not been able to walk to yesterday. I also revisited some spots for a more in depth look and a look at the film at the visitor centre, a great place to see about the region.
I will come out here for sunset this evening, but I wanted to see what was on offer. It is quite stark, but the outlook over town is impressive. I saw an arial image in the visitors centre from 1972 and there were no trees in the town area at all, not the place is verdant. No problems with the cache today, I was just finished back at the car as another party arrived to enjoy the view.
Thanks for the cache bubblensqueak

This was a magical view.....
Aquilus1 & I are on a mission to visit every LGA in Australia and on this short & sweet 5 day mission we went from Cairns to the Northern Territory and back again. 3400km's, 1 flat tyre, 600-700 kangaroo's seen, 1 hit, and all the other fauna & flora.
What a nuts adventure!
Day 1: Arrive in Cairns at before noon, grab the car and immediately off to Guyala for the first LGA of the day. During the day we saw massive trees, and old virtual and some earthcaches.....and at least 200km of dirt road without seeing anything at all except for one car. Limped into Hughenden from The Lynd about 9:15pm. Had to spend 15 minutes killing mozzies in the room before I was willing to go to bed.
Day 2: Leave Hughenden after admiring the windmill & the dinosaur for a day of largely earthcaches.....and long dirt roads that were marked '4WD only'. Our mightly little pretend SUV ate them for breakfast. Had a mad scramble for accommodation at the end of the day in Cloncurry.....eventually getting a cabin at the 'Road Runner'..... which clearly has a poor reputation based on the looks we got when mentioning it. Local event was great and met TeamPops for the first time.
Day 3: Left The Curry on the way to The Isa.....detoured south a bit before returning and doing some cool gadget caches by drrnrchr...some real talent there! Then off to the NT of course, as you do! From there it was a slog to Burketown...."up the dirt" which was a very poor road. Got the flat right near the end of the worst stretch so then limped in at 50-60km/h for the next 3 hours. I have never seen so many roo's in all my life and I live in Canberra which has a serious roo problem.....it was crazy. We arrived just near closing of the pub & takeaway and the town was in party mode....then 15 minutes later was completely silent.
Day 4: At sparrows got the car to the awesome guys at Nowland to fix the puncture. This was the day for visiting the aboriginal LGA's, we checked in for our 30 minute Mornington Island flights at the Shire Council, first time I have ever done that! Doomadgee was visited as well, the road there being excellent with an exciting river crossing for fun......and we discovered it was actually Mabo Day so we were very lucky to visit on that day, the towns were fascinating, the Rosie's chicken at the Doomadgee roadhouse delicious. Heading east along the Savannah way, we saw a croc & a canberra cacher....of all the things!
Day 5: Another long day from Croydon to Mareeba, with my first Queensland FTF as well on an amazing earthcache at Einasleigh....more swful roads but thankfully these were the very last! As always an interesting hunt for accommodation, but it all worked out.
Day 6: This was a relaxed day just cleaning up the few surrounding Cairns LGA's and cruising into the airport...where they tried to charge me $500 for having a puncture that was now repaired...jeez guys, c'mon! Sorted out quickly but I was set to 'ramming speed' for a few moments.

Well thank you Croydon. A top little town and from this lookout a vast and very nice spot. Hotel in town offered the best meals, the sauces that they make... yummy!
With GreyHams we set out on an epic 5 day caching trip from Cairns, to the Northern Territory and back again. 3400km via Burketown with the occasional detour off into different directions as was needed! Looong straight roads, many on dirt or rock and rough but luckily only the 1 flat tyre. Camels, a crocodile, wildlife in abundance of numbers and types and a crazy number of kangaroos after dark it was a little scary! Such a great trip through all the LGA's and we saw so much!
Day 1: We arrived in Cairns after midday to pick up the car with several hours of driving ahead of us to get to Hughenden. With road reports having just changed to open after recent rains it was a little unknown what was ahead of us. 'Drive to conditions and 4WD'... down the Lind in the dark and not a car to be seen for hours... we found out why! Some old caches, virtuals and earth caches to stop at, it was a good start into a few areas otherwise easy to drive by and miss their little discoveries.
Day 2: With reports of snow falling back home in Canberra we woke to a pleasant sunny day of blue sky and warmth. Hughendens windmills and dinosaur visited and then off into the unknown of more dirt roads of 'drive to conditions and 4WD' and a fascinating day of Earthcaches through the region. Cloncurry was our stop overnight and despite its many accommodation options it was a long search before the 'have you tried the road runner?' It proved better than expectations and as usual things just worked out. The Leichharde for dinner was a good snitty hotel, an event at the central was great to meet some local cachers and proved to be the steak place as we saw!
Day 3: The most epic of all days of the trip in the distance and events. Leaving The Curry it was up to The Isa, some local caching, local cachers and then south for a bit before returning through The Isa and off to the Northern Territory. Camooweal to Burke 'up the dirt' rough, rocky, lots of creek crossing, AKA 'dips' and a bit of water in places. A flat trye slowed things dramatically, after the crazy number of little kangaroos and 3 hours to travel 160km we limped into a thriving Burketown relieved to have made it with only 1 roo casualty. The hotel was a busy and friendly place, dinner at the closing TA and then the hotel closed and silence...
Day 4: Started off at the great guys at Nowlands who had the tyre repaired quickly. Checked in for our flight to Mornington and then off to the Burketown bore and wetlands while we wait, cool spot! Doomadgee missed the day before, we squeezed it in today which was worth the drive, the roos of the night made way for so many wedgies on the road and stopped overnight in Croydon at a great Queenslander hotel with the best meals and the best sauces to go with them. Yummy, caching fuel!
Day 5: Croydon to Mareeba, with a FTF opportunity at Einasleigh Gorge, great geology and a lovely discovery, lunch at the hotel and then off down some more dirt roads, creeks, water and corrugations, the road crews keep busy out these ways and we were pleased to meet some along the way! A little scramble for accommodation but Mareeba pushed us a little further and was well placed.
Day 6: A casual morning collecting a few local LGA's around the Cairns area before returning the tough and mighty little hire car and the flights down south to winter... aargh! Sunny Queensland, you will be missed!
Such a great trip, long days, long roads, landscapes and wildlife of such variety and abundance. Great caches, people and memories. Thanks for your cache that guided us through this area!

A great view from up here across the flat Carpentarian plains. The cache was in need of some love so we cleaned out the rubbish - broken swaps and bottle caps, you know the thing, and added several fresh swaps and a new bag for the logbook. Also took the travel bug for a journey. Thanks for the hide and bringing us up here.
TFTC. Out and about exploring with Dat87. Thanks for bringing us to this great view across Croydon.
Found it! Our last full day with WayneO before we go out separate ways. Beautiful view and loved the size of the cache. Left a TB behind. TFTC
Found while staying in Croydon and on our way to have a look at the dam. Fantastic to find such a large geocache, takes us back to the old days when they were all a decent size.
Thanks
PS. The listed TB was not in the cache.

WoW - away views up here and definitely a favourite point for the cache container.
Not very often have we come across a geocache of this size on our travels, especially since leaving Busselton, WA in February this year
Really enjoy seeing these kind of scenic places

After getting into Forsayth later than expected last night as we had chosen the wrong road and a very swollen flooded river blocked our patch so we had to come in via Georgetown so there was no caching done on our way in.
Today with a nice fresh start we headed out to Enslaigh to grab the two out there before heading our way towards Croydon.
After having a quick drink at the pub we headed up here to watch the sunset which was well worth doing. The sunsets in this part of the world seem to last forever so for us today this was more a red hue view. Just before the sunset we headed down to gz where the cache was a very nice easy find and our name was added to the log.
We then went back to the top to sit and watch the sky change.
Many thanks bubblensqueak for showing us this sight and for the cache,

Today was a great day to be looking for a cache up here. The view was lovely and clear, Thanks for placing the cache and bringing us here.
It certainly was today. I took way too many photos . . . . again. The day was lovely and clear and the cache was found without any issues. Thanks for bringing us here with this cache.
Hubby and I are driving to Karumba. Just did a wonderful tour at Cobbold Gorge. Staying at the free RV camp in Allridge Street Croydon tonight. Tftc
TFTC,
Our trip to the Gulf ended last night with our arrival at karumba.
Day 14 and we have started to head east towards Cairns.
There is currently only one cache in the Croyden LGA and we made a quick find.
Went to the lake and back into town to do some research before moving on.
Added a favourite and visited trackables. Left a TB to share time with others. Thanks for allowing me to take you to many places.

Day 14 of our adventure to Townsville Mega. With only 1 geocache in the Croydon LGA, we were hoping it was still there, yes it was sitting there nicely as it has for the past 12 years. Stamped log and replace. Thanks to bubblensqueak. Now off to the Lake for morning tea.

Passing through on our way to cobbold gorge and thought we should stop to collect a cache in this shire. Would have liked more time to go down to the lake for a visit but had to get a move on. Cache in good condition which was a little surprising as it looked like a fire has been here. It’s buddy hole must have protected it. TFTC
Nice view of Croydon from here, probably wouldn't of stopped if it weren't for the cache. Glad I did though TFTC
You certainly couldn’t miss the big camo box underneath the big pile of rocks so thank you for the hint that was nice and easy….I certainly wouldn’t have been going down there if the grass hadn’t already been trampled snake Haven I reckon
After spending 3 weeks travelling from Cairns to Cape York and back with FeatherWaite and another friend from Hobart, we headed off on our separate ways home.
With the current dynamic covid situation and the restrictions in place in terms of entry back into SA, I haven’t really decided on my final route, but I was in no hurry!
I am making my way west towards Karumba.
I spent much of yesterday visiting the Undara Volcanic National Park to check out the Kalkani Crater and the lava tubes, then camped at the Einasleigh River last night.
This morning I noticed that there were some caches further south near the towns of Einasleigh and Forsayth, so decided to do a loop down there, then back up to Georgetown. It was a bit of a deviation, but I’m glad I did it as it was quite a pleasant drive and the scenery was great. It was good to check out the two old mining towns and the Copperfield Gorge was worth seeing.
When I got to Croydon I drove up to the lake (which was very popular today with about 100 or more people there!). This cache was a quick find as I enjoyed the view on my way back down to the highway.
Thanks bubblensqueak for the cache.

Found on the way through to Karumba. It was certainly great to see an ammo tin cache. They aren’t as common as they used to be. Thanks for the great hide.
Found during a trip from Adelaide to the northern tip of Australia and back. Traveling up solo along the Strzelecki Track to Innamincka, then through central Queensland to Quilpie, Blackall, Barcaldine, Hughendon and Ravenshoe to Cairns. In Cairns I met up with e.gregory1 and a non-cacher friend and spent three weeks on Cape York Peninsula before making our way back to Cairns and Mareeba. From there I headed on my own back home via Normanton, Cloncurry, Mount Isa, Tennant Creek and back down the Stuart Highway through Alice Springs to Adelaide. All in all I spent six weeks on the road, visited many out of the way locations, enjoying the scenery and finding caches along the way. Thanks for the cache bubblensqueak!
Travelling through Croydon, I stopped off to get this cache.
Interesting items in the cache (though took nothing).
The plastic bag for the log is torn, so not water proof, and definitely needs replacing.

Not too many caches in the Croydon Shire. I did the mining museum walk and then back roaded it up here.
Ripper container. An old, bold cache like this always deserves a favourite point.
