This was alot of fun and something that was outside the box. We may do it again, but for now its time to put this cache to bed.
Thanks to all who attended and making the wheels on the bus go round.

692 - 2 for today. Found the bus on 27/06/10 1:00 PM
Thanks to "The Rats" for an unusual event. I think you may have set a precedent for some future events (trains, planes or boats?). Great fun by all except maybe the few muggles on the bus. Thanks to the bus driver for putting up with all these people who got on at the uni and rode completely around and got off at the uni. TNSLLN

Ok what started out as a strange sounding cache event it turned out to be a great way to meet and greet others (including muggles) as it was sometimes hard to tell who was who. Still as the crowds moved up and down the isle we chatted. Would love to see the log book for any muggles who found the event and see how others went writing while on the move.
Either the large crowd on the bus or the driver had turned up the heater to make us uncomforbale, so Coming from a cooler area as we entered the city the wife and youngest geokid dived off the bus. So upon arriving back at said uni we left a mega event crownd heading for a cache to try and return to the city and find the wife.
That was great way to see the city just needed a tour guide to point out some local caches as we past them.
JABs.

I always say that arriving too early at a bus stop is just a waste of time! So it was today, that as we walked into the bus stop area with The Hancock Clan, the bus duly pulled in!!! Perfect timing!
The bus quickly filled & we were among the last to board for an historic lag of The Gong. There were a few odd looks from the very few muggles on the bus, and even more from the poor people left standing at the various city bus-stops as the full bus wizzed past.
Funny hearing how Wilbert tried a few busses before he found the right one! Lucky you didn't have to log a DNF mate! lol
Thanks for a fun event Rats - a great novel idea!
Cheers

A change of plans at the last minute meant that we had some free time this afternoon, so it was an easy decision to make the run up to the 'gong for an event. There was a large crowd waiting for the bus, and nearly all were cachers. A novel idea, and we were all excited to be a part of it. A bit of a squeeze - worse for some than others Wink and difficult to circulate, but that what we arrived early for, and then after we got off the bus too. Thanks for hosting this event The Rats.

What a great idea for an event cache.
We had lots of fun and will remember this for a long time to come. The facial of the people who boarded the bus along the way was priceless. I’m sure they thought “What the …” just as we did.
Great event Rats. We loved it

What a novel and different caching experience! We turned up with Usat31 after doing a few local caches with literally seconds to spare before the bus arrived but luckily made the first lap. Judging by the amount of people at the bus stop we were dubious whether we were even going to get on, but with standing room available all was good. It was just all the poor muggles at subsequent stops; I think we even had to bypass some of the stops as the bus was so full! Goodness knows what the driver must have been thinking, especially when the singing started!
Thanks Rats for something a bit different!

This was our 4065th overall find.

Found at about 12:59 PM. How much fun was this event? Lot and Lots! It was so funny to see all of the people congregating waiting for the bus to arrive and I think the driver might have got a bit of a shock. I think he might have been trying to practice his race car driving skills as we shot around town. It was standing room only in the bus and I spent a bit of time hoping that I wasn't going to be squashed by those standing in the isles! We had a ball! the funniest thing was hearing about how many buses Willbert got on before he found us!

Thanks to The Rats for hosting this original event, you keep coming up with new ideas. It was a great time.

Well it is nice and crisp this morning and we are just about ready to head out.

Looks like we will be able to attend this tour and look forward to meeting new cachers on our first caching adventrue to Wollongong.

See y'all on the bus Very Happy

I realised my very nearby cache will be published when the event starts. Would be a shame for someone to steal the FTF that wasn't at the event. Therefore I will try and come 15 mins early (pending approval from Care Bear) and hand over some cache notes. That way someone can grab a FTF before we leave on the bus trip.

Looking forward to it on such a fine day.

FTL! LOL. Some advantages of living close to the uni.....

Anyway that was a great event. The stress test of the "fun bus" was performed. It was certainly more popular than I thought it would be on a Sunday afternoon. I wonder if there were any cachers at those stops we drove past because the bus was already full? Should be a yearly event I think. Nice to put more faces to the caching names.

Thanks to the Rats for organising this event.

Now I know where the bus route goes. Thanks for a clever idea.

27-Jun-10
Thanks for a fun event cache. There were so many of us on the bus that no one else could get on at the designated stops.

27-Jun-10
A novel idea for an event cache and we couldn't resist coming along for a ride. Was shocked at how busy the bus was! But I guess since its free people like to take advantage, you can't get much for free these days! Thanks to The Rats for organising this event!

27-Jun-10
This was a great idea, and we all had a lot of fun so thanks a heap to the Rats. This is probably my first bus ride in the Illawarra for 20 year and its pretty good (hot up the back). I'm sure the driver was starting to think we wouldn't get off, but after our lap we departed. Thanks again.

Being late for the departure at Wollongong Uni I decided to go for an other busstop. Took the first bus after 1 pm but nobody on there? Maybe they took a bus later? So I got off on the next stop and waited for the next one. got on and again nobody there? What am I doing wrong here? Gave the Rats a call only to discover I was gooing the wrong way!! Next bus i took turned out to be the right one and therefor it was loaded with cachers. The driver must have wondered what was going on! Great fun and a out of the square expierience!
Thanks Rats for organising.

The wheels on the bus certainly went around today and so did we. Thanks Rats for a great event. Certainly was different. Don't know about the singing though.

27-Jun-10
With the bus being packed to the rafters the wheels still managed to go round and round. Interesting event, was good to finally meet up with fellow cachers. Tx 'paegle boy' for the trackable. Tx Rats for organising the event.

27-Jun-10
Managed to get all of the goonieroos to go to this event. Great idea for an event and we all enjoyed the ride on the bus. My first trip on the Gong Shuttle and we got off and enjoyed a walk along the beach to do another cache. Thanks Rats.

27-Jun-10
What a great idea for an event - though maybe the General Public wasn't as happy as we all were.

Thanks to The Rats for organising the event, and to all the cachers who we met and chatted with.

See ya there!!

Ummmmm.... why is that song running through my head now??? Thanks Mr Rat! NOT

25-Jun-10
Been logging a lot of caches in the "gong" last few weekends, will probably be down there again and the bus ride.

23-Jun-10
Not long till the wheels on the bus go round and round. The weather forecast doesn't look too good at this stage but that wont stop us having fun. The bus seems to be a very popular with the NSW Premier Ms Kristine Keneally recently boarding the popular Gong Shuttle bus.

See you all on the bus. You can get a hold of me on 0411635170

**UPDATED**

I have submitted a cache at UoW for publication. It has been approved and will be published at the time the event starts. I'll have copies of the cache sheet available on the day for those who want to go found it whilst in the local area.

Oh Dave, you must have alot of time on your hands (or room in your brain) to come up with these crazy ideas! If I can get my baby brain to remember we'll join you for a lap because i think its a pretty awesome idea for an event cache! It will just be the 2 (and a half) of us.

19-May-10
I'll be visiting from the United States and hopefully we'll be joining you for this fun event. Never been to your area before but we're hoping we'll be able to figure out how to join you and, if we do, we'll be there. Would love to trade pathtags with some of you if anyone's interested.

07-May-10

Sounds like fun and something the kids might like to. How long would 1 lap take? If you you get on 1st lap for half a lap, get of and finish the other half in the next lap, does that count?
See you all on Sunday the 27th.

06-May-10
Depend on work and room on bus but put us down for 5 now and we will see what happens on the day.
