Headed over after work to get this one, not realising it was disabled till now. An old pocket query meant that this cache was still sitting in my GPS. Parked at the nearby fruit and vege shop and headed through the public entry into the paddock and down towards GZ. Cache quickly found and as per previous logs, logbook is sopping wet. Couldn't sign my name as the logbook is had it and quickly turning to mush. Photo attached as evidence that i found it. TFTC! Big Grin

The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 21 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.

This cache has been needing maintenance for a while, and the owner has been inactive since April 2012. Perhaps it's time to remove this cache to be replaced or adopted by someone capable of fixing this.

The only issue is that it will create geotrash unless adoption papers can be signed.

My last cache today of my first geocaching trip to Auckland. I found this cache, it's very wet and unsignable. I'll attach a picture as proof.

I found the cache at around 8:15pm, so I came back up the hill and sat in the seat and watched the sunset and the trains go by.

08-Feb-13
Unable to sign logbook, it was soaked.
See attached picture.

Happy New Year, first cache of the year and I got to see the sun rise. Lovely morning. I started my walk at 5.30 am and was still seeing New Years revellers coming home from their festivities. The first approached I tried I got snookered and backtracked to the gate on St Johns Road. Quick walk down to GZ and a hop and a skip to have the cache in hand. It was soaking wet. Took photo and replaced. On the way back to the gate was able to catch the first sunrise of the year, beautiful. Thanks for placing this cache. Day 96 of our streak.

Logbook was not singable but a great cache!

09-Oct-12
Soaked right through! Needs new log book

07-Oct-12
Log total pulp, did not try to sign it.

15-Apr-12
The log book is totally saturated and turning to mush. It needs replacement. I also recommend replacing the container as the seals do not appear to be functional.

15-Apr-12
Found this one fairly easily. Use the hint if you have trouble. However, bring a new container and log book as the ones there are fully saturated. I managed to sign the book although it is turning to mush.

I had a read through the previous logs. This cache is definitely on public lands. I think the question of private property depends on your approach to GZ. Stick to public lands and you should be OK. Though if challenged, don't fight it. Just come back on another day.

Followed the coords which took us to a newly-constructed fence. Cache appeared to be on the other side of the fence. At that point we were accosted by a very beligerent member of the Meadowlands Pony Club who claimed that we were trespassing on THEIR land? The notice board on the outside clearly indicates this land (Port Englasnd Walk) as public? So maybe the cache needs to be rehidden? There's no point in even entering this dispute!

Initially look at the wrong post and all the thorns around it and thought maybe not...so I had a look around and easily found the cache. Those round systemas are really bad at staying sealed. The logbook was still soaked, but I managed to scrawl our names in there without tearing up the pages. The same horse was extremely interested in my daughter who was only to happy to return the affection. This was definitely the highlight of her day. TFTC!

Getting a WOF for the car and saw this was nearby so quickly headed off to find it! Was very well hidden but found it with a bit of searching. One of the horses was very pleased to join in the hunt, nudging me every time I paid more attention to the cache than him! TFTC

Cache was damp inside, but log was dry. Introduced myself to the equine muggle, who was interested but skittish. I asked him if he would reveal the location to anyone, and he said neigh, so I thonk we should be ok.

Fortunately, the horses were so well behaved. TFTC

25-Jul-10
XC & TK out and about on motorbikes hunting a few local caches for a change. This was our last for the day. We walked down to GZ after chatting with local horse residents.... Very boggy underfoot... but a nice walk none the less.. On our way down we heard thundering hooves as one of the horses galloped down the hill past us... He was feeling frisky and was showing off. Very cool...
Located cache... signed log and replaced...

An odd reserve, seems more like someone's paddock. Horses not fussed about passerby's however.

Interesting reserve that initially looked like horse paddocks (which of course they are). Have driven by often, but didn't realise it was public property. Nice find. TFTC

Think it took longer to get out of the carpark than it did to walk to and from the cache!
