Day two of my journey of collecting caches and the original plan was to collect a few around Yass and then head to Tumut (via Gundagai) and do a lot more there, but I enjoyed the ones I started that I spent a lot more time around the former town. Had very little luck in Gundagai (it was tourist central) and had quite a few DNFs (or did not stops) but still cracked 50 for the day (all trads as I had no luck on multis today).

Headed into Tumut and took a walk in the gardens, r at least a couple of steps here. Log signed and on my way to accommodation.

#6042 36th for today

I was starting to get a bit stir crazy at home so I decided to head out and grab a few caches around the Adelong & Tumut area. It was a beautiful sunny day, not too hot and mostly muggle free, for obvious reasons. I was a bit late getting away due to ScoMo's broadcast this morning. But I still managed to make a good impact on the unfound caches in the region. I particularly enjoyed the wander around the old gold-mining works around Adelong. A bit of water flowing through here today and with the green, it was good to see. Also enjoyed the walk around the wetlands in Tumut. Some lovely views along the Tumut Plains road later in the day too.

Apologies for the smell of hand sanitizer on the log. I went through a lot today.

I think I've found about 3 of these today.

Thanks TEAM DENMAR

There was a small group of "us" heading off to meet more of "us" in Tumut for the weekend. Our merry band of misfits was made up of MTrax, Tankengine, Joolay, Aquilus1 and myself. In the car we all thought of a name that we could call our gang, but in the end we decided it was a Canberra Invasion Trip that we were on so just went with CBR5. We signed logs either indiviually or with the group name.

It was an awesome weekend all up, with lots of fun with friends. We cached all day then met up with the rest of the Invasion Team for dinner Saturday night, then cached some more on Sunday until it was time to head home. Tftc TEAM DENMAR!!!

Day 2 of our invasion of Tumut saw us packing up camp before heading out for a full day of caching.

Quick find here today....we even met up with SpecimenX who actually had the cache in her hand. She accompanied us to the next few caches before we went our separate ways to head home.

Off I go with the Canberra geomob for a Tumut invasion for the weekend Big Grin Caching, dinner at the pub, lots of laughs and more caching made for a fantastic weekend with a great bunch of people Smile

After finding this ones "southern sister", I knew exactly where to look straight away. Just as I was replacing the cache someone yelled " put that back!". I looked up and it was fitzy_1965 & MinnieK and kids of the invasion gang in the geomover! Handed them the log and replaced it again before we formed a mini convoy to nab several more together on the way back to the Can! [^]

Thanks for the hide, TEAM DENMAR Cool Bye for now, Tumut! No doubt I'll be back one day! Smile

Good one! Wizzed past and had to turn around, but got there in the end and it was a quick find.

It is the second day of Canberra's Invasion of Tumut. It was a bright sunny day and I'm more relaxed with no plans made. Pa, the friendly but often impatient muggle, is however ready to go again after a day off, so I left it to him to plan the route we should take, filling in gaps that I hadn't previously cached.
It was great fun meeting up with fellow cachers around the traps, walking with them at times and exchanging hints , stories and ideas . Thanks to all who attended this weekend adding to a most enjoyable experience.
Unfortunately though, I feel as if I have logged more DNFs this weekend than in the rest of my caching life.
This obviously was not one of them, so the log was signed, usually as SG, as I often do in small caches to save space or when I am in a hurry.
Many thanks to COs for placing these caches which added to my experiences.

Out caching with GLISS as part of the Tumut invasion. We had a great day with mostly finds, only a few DNFs.

Hmm, not a rock anymore so you might want to update the hint? Nice sign. Love Tumut, such a pretty town. Tftc

This entrance to Tumut will bring you from South Gundagai it is called the Gocup Rd. It is used by locals as from Gundagai to Tumut as it is a better road, less twist and turns, ups and down and is a better drive. However, when you look at the geocache map, I think that the Brungle Road would be a better road for us as there are more cache along that road.

This cache was a nice quick find and was in good condition. It was found, signed and replace in quick time. Even lots of little pretty flowers around here today as well.

Thanks for this cache TEAM DENMAR, Lil Donna

04-Feb-18
It was an early start to the day that saw Darksidedan and myself heading to Tumut for the day with a side trip of some Gundagai caches as well as we travelled through. I had been keen to head off for a caching trip and Tumut looked ideal and definitely didn't disappoint. The scenery as we traveled through the area was everything I had hoped it would be and the clear fast flowing rivers beautiful as they flowed through the middle of it all.

A long but very enjoyable day, so many highlights and although we covered a large area and many caches I'm pleased to know there are many more so a return trip sometime is definitely going to happen.

Not where I expected to find this but found ok and seems like a good spot anyway, after a long day we are on our way out of town and heading home. Thanks for the cache.

04-Feb-18
It was an early start to the day when I set out with Aquilus1 at 0600 on Sunday morning (04/01/2018) to cache Tumut with a side trip to Gundagai. In all we travelled 520kms and it took almost 16 hours to visit 70 plus caches with 65 finds. A long but very enjoyable day. Some of the highlights of the day included visiting Junction Bridge (a Truss Bridge built in the 1800s), Googarragandra River Suspension Bridge (Built in 2006 and Spanning 51..8 meters), Tumut River Grey-headed Flying Fox Colony, Tumut Rail Station and the Tumut River. We had a little time to also visit the Old Gundagai Jail built in 1859 and the Old Flower Mill built in the 1848. Aquilus1 took a photo of me at the Brungle Centenary Park using my poker to poke the cache out of its hiding spot. We had lunch at Gundagai McDonalds and snacks at Subway. This is a generic log due to the volume of all the caches that we found on the day. Thanks to Aquilus1 for a fantastic day of caching and thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches.

I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of 31st January 2018 my average was only 20 words per log, which seems close to the 100 target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After 2350 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including today), the average log length is just over 50. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my gaol before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.

After a weekend in Tumut and surrounds time to head home and find more caches on the way. TFTC.

We are on our way back to Port Macquarie after climbing Mt Kosciuszko yesterday.

On our way home from our Easter weekend in Jindabyne, so we decided to take the long way home and do some sightseeing/caching with the geonephew, SuperSeb0608 and my muggle parents in tow.

A prett quick find as we'd found the one on the other side of town. Log in a bad state though. TFTC

Found by Phreddy of Newcastle. This I think was my third attempt as previously I was looking for a Peanut Butter Jar (Silly Me). A very good hide and although I know this type of container well, I nearly missed it again. Thanks Team Denmar. Worth a favourite.

Australia Day bit warm but still up for a bit of caching TFTC quick find love this town.

12-Jan-17
Not sure why we missed this one on our last trip 2 years ago.... I think it was because we DNF'd and I was too lazy/forgot to log it! I was still a bit of a noob geocacher then so I'm not surprised I missed it!

This is a sneaky cache indeed, despite having found MANY caches in this container and being so familiar with it, I think this is one of the best uses I have seen with this container. Took us a few minutes to locate.

Purely for the fact that it just fits in perfectly and camouflages with its surroundings like a dream. A very well chosen container and location, thanks!

I found a similar cache on the way into town, so it seemed sensible to get this one too!

Today was the first full day of our caching adventure with Rapidlywild in Tumut. I have never really been to Tumut before and was quite surprised by the size and the beauty of the place. Lovely water ways that were crystal clear. Just a lovely place to drive around and explore.

Another Tumut sign and another find, although this one took a little longer this time. The torch was starting to play up now so needed to get the head lamp out to use for the remainder of the night.

Day seven of our High Country holiday. The first day at Tumut with Bettyboo3747
Cleaned up the deadly treadlies from their trip to the Caves, and hit the trails.
We went south first towards the racecourse and back to Riverglade for lunch.
We then went through the wetlands and around. to the Pioneer Cemetery.

We approached the welcome sign from the wrong direction, well wrong to be welcomed, but not to cache.Smile
Thanks, Robmc.

# 9957. We arrived in Tumut late yesterday afternoon. We are staying at the beautiful Riverglade Caravan Park and our site is right on the river bank with great views. We awake to another glorious morning and it is time to put Plan A into action. We gear up for the bicycles and off we go.

I have never seen peanut butter come in a container like this. Fortunately we persevered and soon found a different sort of cache. A nice hiding place for the cache here. Now to return to town and see what else we can find.

Thanks TEAM DENMAR
