30 August 2024 13:36 Cache found and log signed with dalerious on a wonderful couple of days exploring Chiltern and the surrounding district. I can't tell you how long it has been since I first looked at this Multi-cache but just didn't get around to doing it, for one reason or another.Well, we weren't meant to be up this end of the world this weekend either, but we found our original plans for this weekend changed on the eleventh hour, and a quick trip to Wodonga was arranged, and a new list of caches composed. So sad that the walkway to the rock art was closed off. One wonders if the amount of money spent on the fencing, gates and locks was more in actual fact than repairing the walkway itself.Anyway, the cache is still very accessible and still very much there and in good nick. Thank you skullracing for bringing us to this beautiful place.
Found with catnap777 @1:36pm Thankyou. We would love to come back one day when the walkway is reopened and walk the full loop tour unincumbered. We were really dissapointed not to get to see the rock art, especially seeing the representation of a Thylocine here on The Mainland. The age of this art just blows my mind. The cache was a fun bit of scramble found and returned in very good condition well away from any barriers in place. [^] There is no need to disrespect any safety or cultural concerns. TFTC skullracing. We did get to visit/revisit some rock art this weekend, but that is a different Story on the Rocks.
Pretty straight forward multi but the T rating might be a bit off with the closure of the walkway. Needed to bush bash for the last 80m to climb up to GZ. SL at 12:10pm. TFTC.
Beautiful spot that took us off the beaten track. A quick find with my 6y/o and sister in tow. Nice Little Rock platform nearby on a stunning Autumn day. Thanks for a great cache!
Having walked through some areas of Mount pilot yesterday, we decided to come back today to the other side of the mountain. As this multi and nearby traditional looked very interesting. The area was very quiet today, and we took our time to enjoy the nicely made path on the bush walk after collecting the information from the sign at the start of the walk. Officially, the walking platform area, which showcases the indigenous art is closed, and probably for good reason as a lot of the timber is quite rotten. Today, the gates were unlocked, and two engineers were assessing the area and were very happy for us to have a quick walk along the boards. After this, we made our way up the mountain to another traditional. Thanks skullracing. It is great to have this little walkway and part of indigenous culture highlighted through this multi. Domsky
Saw this area recently advertised so decided to go for a look whilst in the area. Everything fenced off which was a shame, however got to see some additional artwork to the side looking through the fence, where the eldest found 5 bucks which he was pretty happy about. Hide took a bit of searching however overall a great place to visit.

We're in the Rutherglen area for the Mega during Easter 2023.
Great cache, in the old tradition. We loved it.
Pity the viewing area is closed.
Fav point of course.
Thanks skullracing, for giving back to the game.

Found with gmj3191 whilst in the region for the Rutherglen mega. I love these rocks and the views. It was a shame the walkway was closed, but finding this cache was very satisfying. Thanks for bringing us here.
Found while in the area to attend the Rutherglen Mega Event over Easter.
Most of my time was spent caching with Davidwazza, FeatherWaite, Budgietas and Freddo but this afternoon I headed off to do some caches of interest on my own.
It was a pity that the walkway providing viewing access to the artwork is still closed, although the track itself remains open.
The cache was found in excellent condition after a bit of a bash through the old fallen dead scrub.
Thanks skullracing for the cache.
We will see you on 29 February 2024 at GCA1DNA ‘The Great Leap Forward’, Australia’s first leap day Mega event.

On our way to Beechworth to have lunch at Billsons. Had a bit of time up our sleeve so decided to grab a few caches.
I have driven past the turn off to this one many times but never attempted. Today was the day.
Once at the posted coordinates we set to work, gathering the required info. Not long after off we went. Kids loved the little cave first up. After navigating them around a few tricky inclines we got to around 9m from GZ. The geowife watched our tribe of kids and I set off to retrieve the prize.
Once at GZ I spotted an area that 'didn't look natural' and sure enough the large cache was revealed.
Couple years of unlove restored!
Awesome spot, unfortunately the artwork is still not accessible but a nice walk nonetheless.
Tftc !

Hoping to get our first multi didn’t look to see how long since it was last logged so no luck here.smallest geokid enjoyed the nap!
We were disappointed that the art work was closed and we couldn't see it, but decided to go for the cache anyway - but after a good half hour of searching we came up empty handed. Not sure where things went wrong...
Never knew this place was here. Thanks to the cache placement, got to explore another area. Tftc
This was first on today's walk around this amazing location. We quickly had a final set coordinates keyed in (or so I thought ) and were on the way. With our GPSrs differing by about 40 metres though, I soon spotted the error of my ways [8)] and we started the scrub bash to the final location.
I took the high road and Al took the low road and he was at GZ before me for the cache's first find of 2020 at 10:35. With all the usual duties done and dusted, it was back to the track to continue on our way.
TNLNSL, although a couple of our geocoins had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks skullracing.

Found with Eudes on another AWG bushwalk. Nice location & interesting to see the rock art.

With the public holiday in NSW and not much planned for the day I convinced two of the geokids to come for a run to Yeddonba (one was enthused as he had been here a few weeks ago) and to Eldorado to have a look around. Was surprised we were the only ones here on arrival (another car showed up while we there and the log book had a few visitors earlier in the day). It was also quite cool so we gathered the information and started on the track - first admiring the the rock art and then having a short bush bash to the cache location. I actually walked past it but spotted it on the return journey. Elder geokid quickly spotted it as well and he scrambled up to open it up. Signed the log and then returned as found. We continued the walk and were back at the car in no time (and with no injuries).

I have been a little tardy in my logging of caches. I have come across my Garmin log files when transferring my stuff to a new laptop, so now it's time for the laborious catchup - I hope not too many have been archived!
Apologies to the cache owners. I have enjoyed your caches mostly when I have been on holidays, as this seems to be the only time I get out and about these days. Thank you all for your work.
Unfortunately, this was one that we didn't find! Will have to return on our next trip to Beechworth.

Beautiful day for a walk in the park Love this area, super pretty, tftc
Well the weather nearly held off for a day of bush bashing and unloved hunting. Love this spot and got some great photos of fungi. I learnt a few new things from this one and I'm glad they have giant barb wire fences with solid gates around the rock art, don't know when the last time they were closed though as the locks seemed rusted in place.
Staying in Beechworth for a week and with the weather a tad cooler we thought a little drive might be in order. This walk was in a tourist brochure and as I really enjoy this sort of heritage it was a must do. I think I need to tick off all rock art in Victoria as a personal challenge. Easy calculations and off we went. As we got closer hubby veered off but no luck... I realised it hadn’t been found in over a year so I was determined to get it. In I went - a little higher than him and bingo cache was in hand! The weather and humidity was in full force by then and I was drenched in sweat but victorious! Ha ha. We finished the walk and were fascinated by the huge boulders. Just stunning. Thanks for such a fabulous cache - why people don’t do this one astounds me! A fav point coming your way.
After getting the nearby Behemoth we set about finding the cues for this multi before heading back to the car. Once we had our numbers we took the scenic route, enjoying the rock art before the short bush bash revealed the good sized cache. Thanks skullracing for bringing us here.
In the area today with The Tritonz. We gathered the information, calculated our GZ and really enjoyed the walk. Once nearing GZ, we bashed our way in and found the cache. Thanks skullracing, beautiful area and a nice walk.
On a 4WD outing and stopped here for smoko. Geowife suggested there might be a cache here so I grabbed the phone and had a look. Great cache, location and very informative. Cache OK, TFTC
On a weekend staying at barnawatha to take in Rutherglen, chiltern, Beechworth we visited a couple of wineries, visited Beechworth, first time for geo wife, then visited mt pilot, found the first waypoint for the cache up there, but it was getting to late to go over and grab the final, so we went down to grab the behemoth, to late to do an 800 mtr bushbash to get this one. Our next option was to grab the yeddonba rocks. After working out the final coordinates we were off to check out the rock art and the cache. I thought the rock art was fascinating, first aboriginal art i had seen. I wonder old it is? Now of to the cache.! Soon at the spot to leave the track and a bit of dodging and weaving and the cache was in hand. Light starting to fade as wegot back to the car. Thanks skullracing, this is what caching is all about. Cheers bwbandit
After some careful planning and lots of puzzle solving homework, TikvaNZ, ZQX, Fox in Jox and I headed to the Albury Wodonga area on a geocaching mission over the weekend. We targeted high DT caches, but also found some lower DT caches in order to maximize our DT combinations on the Saturday. I got 35 different DT combinations, which I was more than happy with. On the Sunday, fewer caches, but ones we had specifically selected to help us with various personal challenges. A great weekend, good company and lots of fun on our Great Southern Puzzle Plunder!
5th cache of the day 0915. While the three amigos were off conquering the Behemoth, I decided to add another multi to my tally. Double checked my answers before heading off up the path. Reached the point where the path and I said good bye, and after a bit of clambering found the cache in its hidy hole. Nice puzzle, location and good sized cache! TFTC

What a magic place this is, very deserving of a nice large cache.

There are a number of caches in this area that I have wanted to get to for a while and this is one of them. I made sure to allow the time for a proper visit and am glad that I did. The walk around this location is well worthwhile and there are some excellent rock shelters and formations here. The artwork has clearly seen better days but then so has most of what I have seen all around Australia. It only lasts for very long under particular conditions that do not exist here. Mind you - 2000 years is a pretty good effort!
The information for the cache was easy to access and once in the right spot, it was the work of only a few minutes to narrow down the location and make the find.
Many thanks skullracing for highlighting this location.

While there is still a lot of water around we thought we should go to the three waterfall caches.
Such a nice day today, so BettyBoo3747 and I set off for Eldorado.
After the three falls this morning we came here for lunch.
Read all the required information and set off on the track to inspect the art.
I'm glad there was a diagram as I doubt I would have made out the designs on the rock.
Travelled a bit further along the track for the great sized cache.
Finished the loop (with a slight detour up the hill), and back to the car.
Thanks, Robmc.

Worked out the coordinates and off we went around the trail. We kept going and then detoured to try the "Behemoth" cache without success. Back to the trail and we realised we had walked past it. So after backtracking we found it with only about 5 minutes of charge left on the phone.
A couple of days in Beechworth to see all the sites and pick up a cache or 2
Stopping in the parking area we worked out the coordinates. What a lovely walk and amazing rock paintings we continued our journey and also a much longer than anticipated detour for another cache (a DNF) we were back on the trial but had forgotten to find this, so needed to bakctrack. I love the ammo box caches.

The three of us plus muggle-in-laws headed out to do this multi today. I was a truly wonderful multi at a very interesting location. We managed to scare a wallaby who wasn't expecting us when looking at the nearby artwork. We wandered off to our calculated GZ and found the cache using the hint. Mini Tardis and Mr Tardis love an ammo box.
This would have to be one of the best caches we've done for a long time - a favourite for sure.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache skullracing.

Another long trip today for father and mother dragon as they potter around the North East. Rutherglen to Myrtleford. Such a long complicated trip, coffee and caches are to be the order of the day I think.
However it is now after lunch, and still no coffee, although this will be cache number seven. What is going on?
The art site is very interesting, and a good lung clearing walk. On the way, we decided to grab this cache. GPSr had a bit of difficulty, but by this time the eye was in and the cache came to hand. The Gz is dry, the containers are dry and all inside is intact. The log was signed and replaced and the cache reinserted into its cover. We continued the walk, looking at the many caves also on the walk.

After only going halfway up to Bohemoth I was helping the misson by watching my geo granddaughter. Teamthommo gave me some questions to answer for this multi while we waited. I have been coming here on and off over the years and have only been to the rock art once or twice. A great location and worthy of a well done cache.

We were in the area today with neighbouring Behemoth as our target, this was going to be a nice little follow up find. When Granni and the children decided not to come all the way to Behemoth they decided to gather the clues for this one. I was given the task of scrambling up to find the cache which wasn't too hard. We marvelled at the area and and I have to say I'm impressed with the boardwalk and gate but disappointed to see the art isn't as easily seen as I remember if from several school excursions many years ago. I wonder if it will be ever touched up, I know in SA the elders sometimes do that.
Fantastic area TFTC SL TBV took memories left footprints
**Oh and I'm fairly sure I got 'Honked' at by a Deer - it's been awhile since I heard one but there really is no other sound like it!

Out exploring the local indigenous artwork with my year 12 outdoor Ed students this afternoon and couldn't resist stopping to find this cache. Great views along the walk, TFTC!
Great view. Nice hide. Swapped geocoins because the boys love doing that. Found with TBaarda77 on a great day. Lovely views. The pen wasn't working so I left mine after signing the log.

Geogrrl has a keen interest in Aboriginal Culture so we couldn't cache in this part of the world without a visit here.
Such a shame that the art is so faded and will soon not be visible for future generations to see.
An enjoyable walk on a warm morning.
Thanks

A beautiful spot to park and have a quick bbq lunch with friends and family. The kids and adults enjoyed themselves eating sausages and cakes (mmm... cake!) Mr & Mrs Lost Wanderer worked out the coords and whilst friends where talking on the phone Mr Lost Wanderer was off in a flash.
That is until I got to the first uphill slope. Then it was more with a curse at the cache owner. Eventually after much huffing and puffing the GZ was reached. Mr Lost Wanderer forgot to take in the cache owners mountain goat abilities.
Once these abilities where realized the cache was quickly in hand. The decision was made (well advised to by much loud yelling from bbq site to GZ) to continue along the walking path. The sites where amazing.
On returning to flat ground Mr Lost Wanderer was met by the ravenous hordes who had descended on said cakes like a biblical plague. Luckily there was cake left for a triumphant cacher.

Have lived in the area for nearly 20 yrs & had no idea this was here - thanks for bringing us out this way to explore. We pulled up in the car park in torrential rain after having a delicious lunch at the Chiltern bakery. I drew the short straw &, with a flimsy kids umbrella, huddled under the interp shelter taking pics of the info needed & made a dash back to the car to solve in the dry. Plugged in the waypoint, put our raincoats on & headed up the track as the rain began to ease... Geokids loved exploring while geomum found the cache tucked away in the dry. Coords were spot on - and unfortunately that meant going through the orb spider's web to get to it! This is another well maintained site worthy of the detour off the highway. SL TNLN tftc
We originally had no intention of calling in here today, but after having a look at the map over lunch and reading the cache page, we couldn't resist a small detour. This was another great example of what we love about this hobby, ending up in another place we had no idea existed and would have missed out on experiencing.
After gathering the numbers at the wp we took the track to G.Z. stopping to read the signs on the way and squinting to make out the art. Photos were taken at several of the lookouts and we left feeling very satisfied with ourselves for having been here.

After a recent DNF, we checked on this cache to see if had gone walkabout but happy to say it is still there safely tucked away in its rock cave.
It was to good a day to waste working anyway!

Getting the coords for GZ was easy, but three people searching an area of at least 25m diameter failed to find anything!(

I lived in this area for a couple of years, and passed through on many occasions, but never found this spot !!
With a geocache to guide my wanderings I was soon jumping out of the geomobile at the start coords and reading the info board for clues
Inspired, I headed off along the trail to find the cache.
It took a while to get there with all the distractions along the way.
Hey!! The Thylacine painting alone made this cache chase worthwhile.
A direct connection with a now 'supposedly' extinct species in a place it hasn't been seen for thousands of years is caching gold
And as if to add icing to the cake, this cache led me to the next cache of the day !!
Yeah!! Another terrain 3 cache which should have been completed in under half an hour ended up with me tackling a terrain rating 4 cache nearby
An hour and a half later I returned to the geomobile with 2 smilies and a great appreciation of how the locals used to live here
Pity about the newcomers

What a great spot. Never knew this was here and the geokids loved the rock cave further on. I had to really trust the gps with this one. I got to a point and then said to the geokids 'Go try in that bit' Kids responded in unison 'Found it'. Great!!!I was nearly going to call it quits especially being a bit snakey this time of year.

The last of the day journeying around the North East and I'm glad we had enough light to get to attempt this one. It wasn't a planned visit, but we were close enough and looked the easiest to access of the ones nearby. Got to WP1 and the geokids gathered the information for the final location. What a fabulous location! The whole walking track proved to be a real eye-opener including the little alcoves, which you could imagine were very important as shelter for their inhabitants. The views are fantastic up top too. We also enjoyed reading the sign-in book at the end with people from all over the world enjoying the area as well. SL at 3.45pm and TNLN. We like finding ammo tins when we are out and about. TFTC skullracing.
Last time we went to have a look at this place a). We weren't into caching and b). There was a tree down across the road. Today I left for bowls only to be home 30 mins later cancelled. So Mrs V said lets go and do a couple of caches so off we headed. Got to WP1, collected the info and headed to GZ. Had a good look at the rock art and continued on...only to find an older couple having lunch right where we needed to turn. Walked a fair bit up the path and waited.... waiting..waiting. Finally after 40mins they walk past. Woohoo off we head but now the GPS wants to play funny buggars, recalibrated the compass and soon we were at GZ, signed the log TNLN. Great spot thanks for the cache skullracing.
# 119. Wow, another fantastic skullracing cache. Unfortunately, I am not a mountain goat and I skinned my knuckle in the retrieval process, and it was difficult to open and close the box because the lid is way out of alignment. However, this wonderful place gets a big favourite rating from me. Nearly 13 years in Beechworth and I have never been here. What a magic place! Took: Little Blue Car, Left: Pathtag.
Found late this afternoon.About a month ago I was googling Aboriginal Rock Art sites in the area looking to place a cache myself as I do love these places and came across this site thinking You beauty.I then visited Geocaching.com to find that Team Skullracing had a cache placed here so had been wanting to visit since.Really enjoyed my visit reading the signs, taking pictures and the walk. Will be adding as a favourite.I stood looking at the wonderfull view while Glenn staggered about looking for the cache lol. I could here him say right well thats me for the day dear !!

Been meaning and wanting to come up here for ages now, ever since Bushtrakker told me about the paintings when I had found his cache nearly 5 years ago on Mt Pilot.
Was out in Beechworth replacing a log in a cache when we thought today would be a great day for a short walk.
I was surprised the area was so well developed and looked after. Was great to read the info boards as we made our way round the track. Not sure if really understand the reasoning behind the caged area that encases the paintings, it doesn't look like it has been locked off for years.
Even though the paintings are very faded you can still make them out, and sort of glad in a way that they haven't been "touched up" as I think it would take some of the genuine feeling of the area out of it and the place would feel a bit artificial.
Didn't have much trouble finding the cache and found after a couple of minutes searching. Did notice an entry in the log by a Koori work group that have come across the cache while doing some maintenance in the area, wonder how they discovered it.
Fantastic area and well worthy of a cache, would much rather find half a dozen of these types of caches than a hundred easy to find drive by caches.
TFTC, Cheers.

As we were the only people to log a DNF here we felt it was time to return to try again as it was such a great area.
Took one of the visiting aunts along for the ride, she enjoyed the paintings and photographed almost all the signs etc as we looked for the cache. Found it this time and was glad we did as it means we can now log this as a favorite.
What a great area, this is why we cache to bring us to places like this. TFTC

Found at 1:50pm , such an interesting place, so glad we came. Busy day there today, lots of picnickers enjoying the winter sun. Took: Canadian $2 coin, Left: Tasmanian Devil. SLTFTC
Conducted a maintenance run today to check out cache as we hadn't been back since it was laid. Interested to note in the log that a Koori work gang had come across the cache, logged their visit and replaced. Walked the circuit, very interesting to see the caves and such a nice walk around the area.
Too wet to look for the 2 Gorge ones at Beechworth so came here and got soaked anyway! Good to see the walkways restored after the fires and now a nice loop with a lovely view. Took plastic toy, left 2 coins. TFTC
This one has been on our to do list for a while and was very pleased to knock it off.
The kids enjoyed rock hopping and the great views.
Us adults loved it too and a great way to spend Mothers Day.
Thanks skullracing for bringing us here.

What a great location and the nicest of walks up the rocks. GPS was as much help as a chocolate teapot to us here and the closest it read was 15mtrs. Well we looked under every rock we could get to but still came up empty. At least we got to visit a wonderfull place we never new existed and great views across the valley. I have never seen so many cavernous rocks in one place. Hope to return soon. TFTC
What a great location this is and I can't believe I haven't been here before. The artwork is fascinating to see, particularly as the thylacine is extinct now. What topped this off for me as the glorious weather that accompanied me and the fact I met up with team haveanez here for morning tea and bit of a chat. I watched as their young lad set up 'decoy' hides around the area. I thought that was cute too until I tried to find one of their caches later in the day!
Anyhow, thanks again for a really well put together multi and the excellent choice of location.

I think we are becomming addicts.
This was our 8th cache for the day.
and 3rd multi to finish off the rainy weekend drive around Stanley and Beechworth then Chiltern .
Read the history with our headlamps and child blinding us as she looks in our faces.cRACKED THE CODE.
It was dark when we started the navigation. but we had headlights packed from Heaven and Hell Cache. So off we go. Very didorientating climbing in the dark in wet trees.
We get to the paintings hard to pick out in the dark then the bush bash. I couldnt even see a rock let alone a cavonous one!!!! all I could see was the ground and wet trees. Somehow we found it. good hide lucky it was large!!!wE MADE IT BACK!

Reperio at 1145. Have only ever heard of this spot before and have never visited so while in the area I couldn't pas up the opportunity to stop by. The numbers were quickly calculated at WP1, and wasn't sure of the best way to go, so naturally I chose to go straight up to GZ. With a lot of places to search, I was thankful the cache was found almost in the first place I looked. Once I signed the log, I went down to the boardwalk to visit the rock art. Wonderful to see how well preserved this area is.
Gratias maximus skullracer1 for a great multi.

Found at 3.40pm at about the same time as the haveanez team did. We knew we would meet up with them some day on our travels around the north east. With the rain and fog and general wintry weather the GPS was all over the place. We did the whole walk and then began at the sign again. Whilst looking for the cache our first time around the walk we realized that more people had decided to explore this area. We reset the GPS and started off again and as we got nearer to GZ there were shouts of "I've got it" so we said you might as well add our name to the log too. After introductions all round and signing of the log and a couple of tumbles taken by a couple of adults in the group we walked back to our vehicles chatting about all the new caches popping up around NE Victoria and southern NSW. We took nothing and Left: some aboriginal flag stickers and a hat pin. TFTC and bringing us to this interesting part of our local area once again.
What an adventure.
Most of the team hadn't been here before but I had some fond memories of coming here many years ago as ayoung bloke.
There is some excellent caves around this area.
After working out the clues at Waypoint one we set off to view the Rock Art and find the cache. Everything was on track until we got close to GZ and soon realised that this would be no easy find. After a brief discussion amongst the team, Big Ez showed his superb leadership skills by deciding that we would split up with the "girls" following their theory whilst the "boys" including Geo Bub and Geo KId would check out his theory.
Naturally the boys proved to be correct but the recent storm had created some havoc and getting to GZ became quite a challenge. After locating the cache, we yelled out to the girls and it was at this point that we got to meet Mr. & Mrs. Harrowang. We had spotted a car in the car park and were pretty confident that it belonged to Harrowang so it was great to finally meet them both.
Actually Mr. Harrowang was required to come to the aid of Mrs. Haveanez after she had a nasty tumble on some slippery ground. Sadly we were too far away to see the actual incident but Geo Jo told us (when she eventually stopped laughing) that Mrs. H. was quite a sight as she lay sprawled on the ground hanging onto a blackened tree for dear life.
The last medical report that I have received, seemed to indicate that the bruising was starting to come out now thanks to the healing hands of Big Ez. He did advise however that he thought treatment should continue for several more days just to make sure everything was okay.

Its amazing the number of times I have driven the road for Chiltern to Beechworth and never new this rock art existed. Thats Skullracer for bringing it to our attention. Signed log and continued along he path.
Easy find. We decided to go bush. Should've been a mountain goat : ) It's great to see just how nature repairs it's self and returns to it's original beauty.Took compass left caching pen and lanyard. SL T4TC.
Have been to this place many times. The last time we came out here was after the bushfires and this area was closed as the board walk had been burnt. It's great to see its all been fixed so we can visit this interesting place again. Easy find TNLN.
6th find for the day. Had been looking forward to doing this one since it came online. Have to settle for a second to find again. Great to see these really old rock paintings, haven't seen any before in person so this was great. Solved the clues quickly and made the treck to GZ. A bit of bush bashing required, but got it pretty quickly. Thanks for showing me such an interesting spot.
Congratulations kiara001 on your 1st FTF!!.
We hope you liked the hide and glad you enjoyed the area.
