Seems the cache has gone missing. We will replace ASAP.

The hint obviously refers to the bridge but there is no sign of the cache. Even used my camera to take a few pictures with the flash to see if it was in the hidden dark reaches. Think it’s gone after 3 previous DNF and three months.

On a visit from NZ, we left drought and found rain.

It rained and rained and rained
The average fall was well maintained
And when the tracks were simply bogs
It stared raining cats and dogs.

After a drought of half an hour
We had a most refreshing shower
And then most curious thing of all
A gentle rain began to fall.

Next day but one was fairly dry
Save for a deluge from the sky
Which wetted the party to the skin
And then at last the rain set in.

Lokipagan and I broke off from the main group to tackle a few caches before heading home. We made our way to GZ through the beautiful area. I prayed we would not be muggled out - the potential was high. Lokipagan found the cache after had a bit of a hunt. The cache is in good condition. TFTC theyoung-1z Smile

I did wonder where I was headed as I drove the geomobile around suburbia looking for a likely way in to GZ Smile

What a surprise to find a remnant of slowly regenerating rainforest and a babbling brook 'tween the houses Big Grin
Down by the creek I took a few moments to remember that this whole area used to look like this, only better, in the years BC (Before Cows).
Now in the years AD (Ad-hoc Development), the cattle have gone the way of most of the rainforest too [:o]

Rainforest glimpses may increase the value of these properties, but they don't provide any food.
So I'm sure that in a few generations the rainforest will reclaim the abandoned houses Big Grin

The forest did provide a brief feed of cache for an hungry "If" this afternoon though Razz

TFTC.

PS: Yes!! I've been watching movies again.....
The remake of the classic "The Day The Earth Stood Still" this time around !! Cool

The hardest part about finding the cache was how to access the park - our GPS didn't help much at all with that. It would be great to have a house with this little rainforest almost in the backyard.

Second FTF for the day, i love this game. Found this one reasonably quickly along with a few others in the area today. GPSr was telling me to search in the edge of the bush about 5m up the hill, but the notes said that you didn't have to leave path. Took Mayan TB SL TFTC theyoung-1z

Oh yikes! Had logged this painstakingly via the iPhone, but it seems to have disappeared in the intrawebs. So... I took the scenic route to work today, beaut morning light hitting the mountains, mist rising from the valley over Lake Baroon, skittled yellow bellied snakes on the road, and this patch of rainforest with its very entrancing creek, and lots of little clingon weeds! Its a shame my decision to wear caching friendly work clothes wasn't supported by the wardrobe options this morning! Finding GZ was simple - my iPhone even told me I was spot on at one stage when I'd given up in despair and was having a bit of a lean, wondering what I was missing. Not even a quick check of GZ 'spot' seemed to offer much illumination. One thing that it would be good to clarify, in case others like myself are cache-blind and start to consider alternatives... does this cache require stepping off the path? I was very reluctant to stray from the pathway as the abundant fernage was rivalled only by the prolification of signs declaring the surrounds of GZ to be catchment rehabilitation areas. I spent a quiet moment or several watching and listening to the creek before deciding I had not the foggiest clue and that caches near bridges are not my thing! I'm not so keen on all the houses around GZ either, but I suppose thats the monster called 'progress'. A very enjoyable detour was had & disappointment lasted only as long as it took to get to the next cache, which luckily involved no water or bridges! Thanks for the scenic and mostly more relaxing than usual drive to work theyoung1z

Maybe I should have logged earlier - I might have gotten the first DNF! It's rather embarrassing, not being able to find the first new cache in my own town that's been set in recent memory (apart from my own couple). But no cache find here for me this afternoon. I am a bit worried about the vegetation here - the large ferns are absolutely awesome but also very fragile, and it would take very few hunts to make a mess of the area - particularly if they are prolonged DNF hunts. Please, hunters, step lightly! On the plus side, I didn't even know this park existed! Much of this area has only been developed in the last 5 years and I reckon all this creekline is revege - ie replanted - and it looks unbelievable! Wow! Thanks for bringing me here, theyoung-1z.
