Today I made my way from near Orbost to Thredbo, picking up a few selected caches along the way. The main objective today was to find caches in each of the LGA’s and the road atlas map pages that I was near.
I obviously hadn’t refreshed this cache in my GSAK database as I wasn’t aware it had been archived and it was on my list for the trip. The cache was found quickly, all cracked and broken. But I was able to write my name in the damp logbook (see image). I was going to put a ‘needs maintenance’ log on it, but it seems that is redundant!
Thanks dashtwostep for the cache.

Noticed this cache on my gps but not on the phone live. A bit of searching and i found this had been archived. Wonder if its still there. My gps told me there was a trackable inside.
Unable to access the cache from the tip road as per the description so we came in from the Barry way on a dirt access track.
Soon found the cache. As per the last photos. Log book was dry so i signed it.
Took the tb as a visit
Thanks

yes, the container is a shattered mess. Someone needs to simply come armed with a new container and this one can be resurrected.
The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention.

Container is seriously missing bits, exposed to the weather, CO no longer active.
This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.
The kids are skiing, I'm walking!
Parked at the top of the hill and walked down to this one and to Tip Top. As per previous NM, the container is getting MIA bit by bit.

Quick find on our way to cooma for the night after hitting the slopes at perisher. Thanks. Nice area here in jindabyne.
Arrrr, container is shot, needs replacement soon, log still okay but damp, easy find once we got close. Perhaps CO or next finder can get a regular sized replacement container, doubt this one will make it through another winter season ! Tftc
well the gps wanted me to turn left but there was no road to turn left onto, or if there was it also had a closed gate. so I went onto the next left turn but when I eventually got to the end of the recreation centre there was another locked gate, bugger it I thought, i'll just park under this tree and climb through. splash through the puddle and found the cache. the container is disintegrating and needs replacing. nothing seems to be wet inside however. tftc and merry Christmas dashtwostep
Eventually found the cache, but still not sure about the "Back Road" as there are so many tracks and surveyors pegs all over the hillside. This cache seems destined to be lost under the next sub-division. TFTC dashtwostep
Found with The Matetrix. Must of taken the boring road in. It was covered with speed bumps, literally! TNLNSL TFTC
Nice isolated spot, and a nice little 4wd track when going too far up the hill. Took travelbug WYNVQ8 for re-location. TFTC
Enjoyed the drive along the dirt road. Recommend you park outside the sports centre and walk the last 100m. Left a Fijian coin. Tftc
EcoTeam are back in the caching business with another find.
Easy find for Sagan
Thanks.

We snuck one more in before sunset .. Decided to walk from the sealed road - didn't see the dirt track! Got back to the car right before it turned dark!
Repeio at 1645.
After stopping by 'Tip Top', we continued on down the track to this one. With recent rain, the track was quite muddy, but fortunately we were in the 4WD, so getting to GZ was no problem. A quick walk through the bush, and the cache was found.

Our current visit to Australia had been in the planning for over a year with the very significant help and advice from friends who live in Melbourne. The original plan was for a 2 month visit, but as things progressed we just couldn't help extending our trip to the full 90 days allowed on our visas - after all it's a big country and so much to see and do, especially with our favourite pastimes being birding, hiking and of course geocaching! Our journey started with our arrival at Perth airport followed by a day cycling around Rottnest Island before travelling on to Adelaide where we met up with our friends. We then continued on to spend some time on Kangaroo Island, before heading to Melbourne via Goolwa, Strathalbyn, Coorong, Mount Gambier, Cape Bridgewater, the Grampians National Park, Port Campbell, Cape Otway and Lorne, cramming in as much as possible on route. The second leg of our journey was a fabulous 9 days in Tasmania. Having then returned to Melbourne we set off on the third leg of our journey, which is to Sydney via Wilson’s Promontory, Lakes Entrance, Mallacoota, Pambula Beach, Thredbo (where we are heading to at present), Canberra and Fitzroy Falls. After a visit to Sydney we will travel on to the Gold Coast, then after spending a few days in the nearby mountainous birding hotspots, followed by an overnight trip to Fraser Island, we will fly from Brisbane to Cairns, visiting yet more good birding sites. We will then drive up to Cape Tribulation before heading back south again to Port Douglas and a day out on the Great Barrier Reef. We then return to Cairns for the flight to Alice Springs, where we will hire a 4x4 camper and set off for a week on the circuit to and from Kings Canyon and Ayers Rock. We then fly to Darwin from where we will spend the last two weeks of our holiday making our way to Broome via Kakadu, Cooinda, Katherine Gorge, Kununarra, Lake Argyle, Emma Gorge, the Bungle Bungle’s and Fitzroy Crossing. Our last two nights in Australia will be spent in Broome before we fly back to Perth, from where we will connect with the flight all the way back home to Zimbabwe via South Africa. We already know we can't wait to return!
A nice quick find at Ground Zero. Thanks so much for the cache.

Found a back road in......not sure if it was the right......but after walking past the water tank and down the hill, I found myself at the GZ and soon had a familiar looking cache in hand. Once again, log was signed, cache replaced and it time to head back up the hill. Needed the exercise, so was good.
Thanks again dashtwostep......
Thanks again dashtwostep......
With a sore knee from yesterday's walk, I limited myself to the easy ones, or took my time for the slightly harder terrains. Basically, it was clean up Jindabyne day before heading away tomorrow. Very quick find for this one.
My thanks again to dashtwostep for the cache.

An easy find once we found the right track to go down. TFTC!

On the third or fourth option, we finally found the back way in. Looks like some local 4wd hoons use it as a race track too! The i30 just just managed it, with a couple of gentle scrapes of the undercarriage. We had to stop about 50m from the cache though as that would have spelt disaster going any further. That was done on foot, although not convinced with the T1.5 rating! A quick find once at GZ and then a careful drive out again. I think I would pick the front way in if we had to visit the rec grounds . Thanks dashtwostep
This cache takes u into a interesting sports complex, very quiet on a Sunday. Tftc.
#3149 - Last morning cache befor climbing the Koz.

Having spent Saturday coming down from Canberra to collect a couple of caches in Kosciuszko NP, I spent the night in Jindabyne, giving me Sunday to enjoy the sites and caches of Jindabyne and surrounds.
I really didn't fancy negotiating the back road on my geoscooter, so took a drive through the sport and rec camp, finding a good spot to park only a very short distance from GZ. A quick find and back to the geoscooter for more adventures. TFTC

found while helping the Polliwogs find a few caches in the area. Thanks for the hide Dashtwostep love these larger size caches. SL TNLN Cheers 4 Now
Day two of our High Country holiday. Took the deadly treadlies up to Thredbo to play on some trails and do a few caches. Grabbed a couple on our return to Jindabyne.
We hadn't seen all the sporting complex here, so we drove through the whole lot on the way to this cache!
Parked and a short walk later the good sized cache was in hand.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 9900. Our first full day staying at Jindabyne so Robmc and I loaded up the mountain bikes and headed back to Thredbo Village for a quick ride around an easy trail, collecting a few caches along the way. Fortunately we drove past here yesterday in sunshine because by late morning the mountains were covered in low cloud and the rain had started. Such a shame.
Back at Jindabyne and time for just a few smilies before retreating to our comfortable accommodation. Unfortunately the Trackable is long gone so time to mark it as missing.
Thanks dashtwostep

Well, I got sick of waiting for GeoSons to agree to go geocaching with me, so I left them in the tent and went on my own
It's our second last full day in Jindabyne, so I was keen to get add many as possible before heading back to Melbourne.
We had picked up the nearby Tip Top cache yesterday, but my navigator had not mentioned that this one was close by! I was worried that the rain had made the dirt road too slippery for my little Lancer, but I was ok. I parked near the back gate and walked the last bit.
By the time I finished my caching for the day, the light was fading. I phoned the boys and asked them to make up a salad while I picked up pizza for dinner.
Thanks for the cache!

1:12:00 PM. Took the wrong track first up and came to no entry sign so turned around and headed out and discovered another track to our left which took us the right way. A short walk and cache was found. Signed log and rehid upside down as lid is cracked so hope it keeps the rain out. Thanks dashtwostep for placing this cache.
Tftc. Not being locals, we drove through the sport and rec centre after our map took us on a wild goose chase across country.
We do like a large cache and on seeing a pair not too far from our travels headed over. The car GPSr struggled a little but after we read the tip reference we found the right road to the first cache and then we a small bit of doubling back took the other dirt road to the second of the large caches. No troubles with the find and both logs signed. TFTC.
Wow cool! Thanks for the cache!
Love the silica gel addition to keep moisture at bay!

Thanks for a great day out today dashtwostep

Always amazing how you find the cachers trail after the event. Thanks for the back road adventure.
Cache was nice and quick to find but why do people think they can fill a big cache with their rubbish and junk? I did a cito on this cache and took out mouldy bandaids, square lollies, menthos lollies, expired cards and business cards. Cache looks much nicer now. Cheers from eatmorchikin visiting from Brisbane
We found it and the log before us was on the same day and from the same home town HERVERYBAY
Nice and easy to find .... Once you take the right track. Sorry goldenwattle we couldn't see a 'Cyclist 3'
Thank you for reporting this. I have made a note to the owner that 'Cyclist 3' TB is missing. Sad that people take these and keep them.
Found it, spent ages looking in a different tree stump until I realised it was the wrong one haha. Took a panda and left a paddle ball game thing.
Could the next person to visit here please let me know if the TB 'Cyclist 3' is still in this cache. Thank you.
