On our trip thru New Zealand we stopped to see all the nice nature New Zealand is offering us.When possible we also search for geocaches, this was one of them.Nice place, thanks for placing the geocache, greetings from team Camperfietser
I have eyed this cache in the distance many times as I have driven through the Catlins but there were always time restraints and other caches to be found. Today it was my target cache as it fits nicely into a challenge I am working on. It had been pouring down for a while now but luckily it stopped while I found the cache and signed the log, then started bucketing down as soon as I was back in the car. That's it for the day then - too wet and muddy now and I have to hold a briefing in 2 hours so I need to get back into civilisation. TFTC # 19,643
Back to Christchurch today, grabbing a few caches. No problem at GZ, cool that the family are getting a head nod by having a monument placed.
TFTC Lehcier, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 3 find(s) of 7 today, making this find #3075

I had travelled this area a while ago caching and completely missed this one as didn't add it to my offline list. I remember thinking it would be good to place a cache there! As I was in the vicinity today checking on caches and catching up with the family a wee diversion had this one ticked off tftc
Cache 705 The sun was setting and the road was becoming icy, 5pm and it was already -1 20km out of my way. I could not leave a lonely green dot on my map, so I made the long slow trek up to GZ, cache was an easy find so a quick stamp and back to the car before I froze to the spot ️ now to make my way slowly back down towards Owaka -2 by the time I got to the main road again, so pleased to have knocked this one out. Cache in excellent shape ️
A day trip was in order to head to the Catlins area to sign off a couple of geotour caches and a few other caches for challenges and stats.
Decided to come this way to get to slope point and grab this lonely cache. Thanks!

Just had to be by the prickly one. Bummer. Now tagged and so am I.
Monday 9 November. Its Owaka, Papatowai loop we are exploring today. Lets go Toby! In gummies and dodging showers today. Cool overcast 9deg to start the day.
Toby, Zara and I are on a 3 week geo adventure of Cromwell, Southland, Catlins, Balclutha with a day in Dunedin and quick stop in Timaru. With Lenny, my trusty navigator and TBD my companion/mascot. we managed to visit lots of green boxes, now happy faces with the odd sad one. Did some LABs , earth caches, virtuals and wherigos, all chucked into the mix to rack up 500 odd caches. Lots of kilometers, lots of exploring and lots of fun. Thanks to all COs for our wonderful experience.

You would never see this Stone if there wasn't a sign! Thanks for making me stop here. TFTC
Down South with BCD on a geo mission and after a great day of caching it was time to head back to camp. With a wee detour of course! We arrived at GZ and the find was quickly made. Now back down the road we have just come TFTC

Got distracted at the previous cache in Wyndham, and decided to take the long way home...
Nice country out this way, beautiful afternoon to visit.

We downed tools and decided a drive in the country was a good idea, so after picking up the Wyndham cemetery we got a little side tracked ' well a lot side tracked really.
A left turn in Wyndham and we ended up in the Catlins
So we pick up this one.
Cache a little damp so dryer best we could and returned.
Thanks for the hide

A challenge for myself to get to 3000 finds before the end of the year and being about 150 away I had a lot to find. This trip down here was to get as many as I can and to get the second last cache I need for the old school challenge. This was a very long drive to get to this one but was about the same distance from the other side so had to get it at some point. Nice and easy find TFTC
Found after a search, well embedded into the ground. Dried and replaced. Good solid family memorial. TFTC
They weren't wrong. It's a wet cache alright. Found the cache after the beacons said 'you're finally here' after driving the long slow road from Papatowai over recently spread gravel on the wet road. At least no deer jumped out at us from the scenic reserves.
Soon had the wet cache in hand and the seal popped out with a tap. It got wiped clean and the box had a wipe out too. The dry temporary logs were signed and slipped in an envelope while the goods were grabbed in a clean strong baggy. Cache returned to the hide and we're off to the archived 2Lt cache at the Southland border. Hoho it's a big one full of swag near the new bison. TFTC

Cache # 3,674 - A very prickly and wet find this morning for Pufura and me. The cache was well buried in the vegetation. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Snuck across the border to grab the wee box. They don't call it a rainforest for nothing, which left a wery wet cacher to find this wery wet cache. A year and some since last visit. The temporary log had a double-bag change and the swaps got refreshed for water proof ones. After the water got poured off it was returned to it's hide. A deceptively busy road for a Saturday. TFTC
Heading over the hill the other way into Southland? Why not check out some archived caches found in order.

Stopped by on short cut home. Added a new log book and baggy. Mopped out wet cache again. The loggers are turning the road to custard again.
A great day trip out and about with the kids and parents to find a few cache! TFTC!
Out on a run into the Catlins with granville86a to maintain one of his caches, love this drive from Wyndham to the Coast. Thanks for the placements lovely day to get out and see some sun and scenary
After a rather early start to the day, we set off to find some caches while most people have not even realised there is another day Very nice drive discovering tucked away caches, this one possibly being one of the most remote ones in the area - TFTC!!

Came down to Dunedin for a weekend to attend mums event, and have a general good ol' family catch up time!
Last day down here, and we headed off early in the hours of the morning to collect a whole bunch of caches that were considered lonely for the next stage of the licence challenges up in Auckland on Rangitoto. Hadn't been asleep since the event that started at 1.59AM, and was pretty caffinated up!!!
Suprised to see so many gums around! What's up with that!
Find took a while to narrow down on exact GZ.
Consec caching day # 692

Thank you for the cache. We were with my wife on long trip around south east Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The caches showed us so many nice places.
Quick find while out on geocaching drive with farmer2some and twincacher alias my nana and granddad and my aunty. TFTC
GPS had us on the wrong side of the road, but soon found. Replaced contents of container with some scrap paper in my bag. Tftc
Log was nasty. Replaced with a big bag and new paper for future signing.
Cache box was completely full of water including the log book bag. We emptied it out and dried it as best we could. But the log book was soaked through and no able to be written in.
A quick easy find at an interesting memorial, with a nice smell of gum trees. TFTC
A quick find on the way from Papatowai to Wyndham this morning. Interesting bit of history. Signed log, TFTC and for showing this to us.
Found on a Catlins weekend away. Really enjoyed the drive to this one even though the GPS took us to the wrong clue item. Only the man searcher went far enough to find where it was. TFTC
Found and logged in the cache and came away unscathed, not like the comments we read of some of the other cachers.
Spied a familiar vehicle in the distance so I knew we were getting close, Quite amazing to find a well maintained memorial in an area such as this.
Thanks

INteresting conversation with ZCA as we drove along - seems this is the road she managed to write off a car on a previous caching trip - and then we saw Bitsprayer. A connection there somewhere me thinks.
Arrived at this cache just as nofs and ZCA completed a U - turn in front of us. Cache was quickly signed and replaced. TFTC
Returning to the road if not the scene of the accident, almost 15months ago where I wrote off my car caching and managed to whack my head! Well who should we come across but the only other cacher I know to write off a car caching... aye Bitsprayer!:)
FTF!!! Awesome!!! We couldn't believe that this cache had sat here for so long without being found so we set out for a day of hunting in the area. We travelled to here via Wyndham and couldn't believe that we had to wait for the farmer muggles to leave before we could start the hunt. A quick easy find in the pouring rain. TNLN, TFTC [^]
