Logs
Searched for a good 5 minutes, then started reading logs as the muggle with me decided I was totally out - should have kept going - after no help from the logs (except confirmation I was at the right coordinates), it was in the next place I looked!
My first cache find in Myrtleford! After getting off the bus near here a short while back I marched myself down to the van park to set up camp a few days. Not long later I strolled back into town to start exploring. The many multis caught my eye and so I gathered some info for this one first.Gz was in my direction of travel so I made the short detour. Found in the first place i looked ! Thanks chewinprickles for creating this historical multi in downtown myrtleford !
Another excellent multi, of which there is a wide selection here at Myrtleford. A great piece of iron mongery, and very convenient not having to move far for the final. Thanks heaps.
Was surprised by the GZ, but found it after some lookingThanks for the cachePika 27/12/23
Well, its about 33 degrees, probably no surprise to the locals, but GZ could result in nasty burns whilst in the blazing sun. So we were very cautious. The GPSr couldnt give us a reading less that 3 and settled on 2m so there was an immediate target. We stood there guessing and then prodding. It was Mrs Riddell who said where she thought she would put it and no sooner had she spoken the words and bingo she felt it.Assistance was sought from Mr Riddell as she had finger strength issues. We shot into the shade to undertake the formalities. This was another cache where we sourced the information at night and saved for the pick-up day. Its always nice to learn some local history too.TFTC
We had forgotten the Myrtleford had been a tobacco growing area and its nice to see that it is no longer! We soon had coordinates for the final and were able to recover the container after searching quite a few locations. Thanks to Chewinprickles for the cache.
Called in today and replaced the log sheet. The cache is intact and all good. Thanks
Staying at Myrtleford for 3 days. We come back to finish Rutherglen Easter Wherigo 2023 at Rutherglen and do caches around the area. Caching with aqau. Thanks for placing this cache
Finally found this sucker. After redoing my answers 3 times I struck gold. I was questioning where I looked but it was where it said it was. Loved it
Stayed in town overnight, made this first find for the before everyone was out and about
Thanks for the cache

No luck here.
Spent so long working it out. Have no idea if we were at GZ. A sum check from the VO might help.

We are staying in Bright, but drove through Myrtleford for lunch today. Took the dog for a walk to the park and it was getting a bit warm. One of us stayed in the shade with the dog, while the other worked out the clues. We finally had GZ co ords. A fun find at GZ, thanks for the informative cache.
Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to Chewinprickles for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

Found with Jondub. What a great cache - loved learning about the history of the industry and the cache was well hidden. Log just about full. TFTC
Visiting Victoria with my geowife, Curloo, for our 30th anniversary. Enjoyed this find. Thanks.
Completed previously as BlackOpal2005. My daughter I thought it was time to create our own accounts.

Always fun to be careering around the countryside in the eTOTT with the sun shining on my back and the wind clearing out the cobwebs.
There was a time when I thought drivebys were great, now I think cyclebys are the best, so long as I don't have to leave it too far out sight

Arriving from Melbourne, we found three one stage multis in a park in Myrtleford. We enjoyed some Vietnamese street food before we delved into the questions. We saved this one for last, since it is quite popular with the local youth. When they left, we started to look for the answers. We all found them, but the final didn't make much sense. Did we make a mistake? Again checking the outcome, the result stayed the same. Okay, start the search! We spent quite some time looking into every crevice, but then we found it!
Clues gathered and maths done. Hmmm. Okay.. off I go... arrived.. searched a few spots and bingo!
Thanks to chewinprickles for the fun and the adventure.

A very quiet day in this little park, so it gave us a chance to recalculate our coordinates and we quickly had the cache in hand. Found with Jackez74 and Bucrog52, signed the log as Geo Trio. TFTC
Finally found a sneaky hide with jackez74 and matho64, loved all the information. TFTC
While in Myrtelford today we decided to try searching again at GZ while it was quiet. After reading some comments we decided to try and work out the coordinates again.
After realising we had one number incorrect it was a very quick and easy find at GZ.

Stopped for lunch, and had time to get this one. I'd wondered when they stopped growing around here - it seems it was 2006. This was a quick find thanks to some tips in the logs. Thanks chewinprickles
Time to turn this frowney upside down and collect the smiley!
Stopped here with the girls on our way through Myrtleford today for a quick afternoon tea and break before the final drive home.
Made short work here today, don’t know how I mucked up previously.

Thanks Chewinprickles for a great cache (and the extra help in finding it!). We loved the puzzle.
One of many caches found during the week of the 2021 Wangaratta Mega. Thanks to all Cache Owners for their contribution to our recreational activity!
Completed the calculations with ease and it didn't have to move too far to reach GZ. Had some success by thinking about places that wouldn't get examined by muggles. A camera/mirror confirmed my theory. TFTC

Stopped to send the non-caching hubby to the shops, but he returned before we found it.
Not entirely sure about my numbers, anyway, as they looked oddly... familiar.

I am so late terrible and late at logging!
This cache was found on a quick holiday in VIC while most of the borders were shut due to COVID. An absolutely stunning area that we would probably never have explored otherwise.

Having booked our accommodation to stay here for two nights and spend three days caching in the area, and attend the event tomorrow, only to find Vic is back in lockdown from midnight.
We had to cancel our accommodation, but had planned to meet some rellies in the Buffalo Hotel at 6pm for tea, we spent the arvo locating caches up in the mountains, but had time to locate this before six.
Thanks chewinprickles for the very interesting history and cache placement.
It has helped us ending up our day’s caching on a high note.

We are camping at Nug Nug, having arrived early for the event on Saturday. Really loving touring the area, and picking up some caches.
I reckon this place will be very busy on Saturday, so we popped into town this evening to find a couple of multis before the rush.
After gathering the information, I calculated the coords and, as I was about to upload to my GPSr, I suffered from some doubts about my work. After a few moments, I realised what the tricky CO was up to. Thanks chewinpickles, very clever, and a favourite point from me.

I love this cache, very clever. I have loved learning all of the information about the tobacco industry thanks for placing
Two multi caches in one starting point! Once we got there I realise why. This was the multi first cache in Myrtleford which didn’t use any of the mosaics. There are other sorts of art work in this town! The location is also a useful information spot integrated into the art work which helps you solve the puzzles to get the coordinates. Shady seating was enjoyed to calculate the final coordinates. I doubted my results at first, but after a thorough search at GZ I found the elusive container. I had tried that spot almost first, but my feel obviously didn’t register. Very clever. A favourite point is justified here!
Pleased to be able to turn this frown upside down. This had been a DNF previously. We weren't going to be in town for long but as a couple of us had DNF's, we made the time to try and find them this trip.
After gathering the information again, just to make sure it was correct, we made the find quite quickly this time.
It is quite warm today and a couple walked past with ice creams. Guess we are going next.
Thanks for the cache.

2nd last day of the cache adventure with OzHockeyChick, GeoTurtle37 and Papi4506. Off to collect the final Randolph and some labs along with a few other key caches. So much more to return to.
Found the required clues then headed off to GZ and soon made the find. Just spotted someone with an ice cream so that’s the next stop!

Got the information and final last night while grabbing pizza for tea but did not attempt the cache due to muggle activity. Came back this morning to claim the find.

Found as Nicnax with PapaGrouch. Our final find for the day. We collected the required information for the final and loaded it into the tablet, double checked, yes that was right. Luckily it was quiet around GZ as it took a little while to find the cache. TFTC
As today was a dreary rainy day, there was no use wasting the day being put off by a little rain so the whole OSHFAM clan including geo Babcia and geo dog Agent Roxy decided to leave the caravan park in Punka and head out to explore Myrtleford.
Babcia decided heading off on her own to find a cafe and newspaper, whilst the rest of us went caching. The first stop was here. The whole clan got into extracting the required information. Once the final co-ords were calculated we realised how very cheeky this hide is. Very cheeky indeed.
A quick find was made and log signed. Cache and log in good condition.
The kids found some dried up “spike bombs” which lay on the ground and threw them at each other. It was then time to walk a short distance to the next one.
Thank you for the cache here chewinprickles

Thought we’d found all the information but arriving at GZ nothing was to be discovered.
Might return for another look one day.

To misquote Noel Coward - mad dogs and geocachers go out in the afternoon rain. Took the geohound to Myrtleford to collect the New Adventure Lab and pick up a few to get the next souvenir - was a bit of a BettyBoo3747 day (and note two more published) though took me a couple to get started.
Thought I had time for one more and also thought a rainy day would be a good day to search for this one. How wrong I was - first search was deferred by a couple who spotted me and then proceeded to wander to GZ and read the info.a visit to the nearby facilities and a PAF while waiting. Eventually they wandered off and I had a another look. Still no luck so wandered back to the car to check Messenger and the response to my call for help. Finally had a place to look (must have been the only spit I hadn’t stuck my hands) and the larger than expected cache was finally revealed (man that hole was strong). Log signed and returned as found - very happy to have this one finally found. Noticed too more multis in town published after I left - I will be back.

This didn't look too good at first at GZ, but guess who came up trumps with it. Team Ozcat thanks CO for fun cache.
Persistence, and never doubting...love challenging multis. Clever hide. Nice break in town today. Tftc
This was the one I did not find today but it was more that I could not search. As I arrived at WP1 it was already busy (the locals start drinking early by the look of it) and I thought if GZ is near here then I am in trouble. Read the signs and learnt more about the history (surprised others hadn’t realised what the tin huts and kilns around Myrtleford and Bright were all about). Checked my final coordinates twice and laughed where GZ is. Had a bit of a poke but is a very obvious spot and Sunday lunch time near Christmas is not the time to search.
Think I know what I am looking for but will save for another day - TFTC anyway chewinprickles (a favourite in waiting j think)

Grand final day is a good day to find this cache. Area was deserted! Geosenses kicked in and I found it! Yay!
Second attempt because the previous one ended in complete frustration. Well done to the creator, fun and challenging cache!
I never knew that Myrtleford was a tobacco growing area, you learn something new everyday.
I grabbed the information for this cache a couple of months ago, when I worked in Myrtleford for the day, not my usual place of work, but didn't sit down and solve it until I got home.I did have a chuckle at where gz was taking me to tho..
Last weekend I enjoyed a caching day in the area with Mrs Clazza and we spent quite a while whilst having lunch looking for this cache. We had buses from Falls Creek, we had people walking by, then we had a school group turn up for a stretch and loo break!! With a few discreet photos taken we found the cache but couldn't budge it..
So today being a rare day off with Mr S, we made our way back to Myrtleford so we could hopefully sign the log.. After approx 5 minutes and a huge mess and covered in ants later we had the cache in hand. I opened the cache to find only one name in the log... Purpledreamer who signed it way back in 2011... Obviously there are two caches hides here and we just unearthed the hardest one...
Thanks heaps for the informative multi and the frustration of retrieving the cache.. A fav from us..

My fifth day on the road as I slowly make my way from Adelaide to Tasmania, via country Victoria.
Its been an great trip so far, visiting some interesting places and picking up a few selected caches along the way. I’ve been lucky with the weather, albeit a bit warm. Fortunately the overnight thunderstorms, lightning and rain at Myrtleford where I stayed had subsided by the morning and it was another mostly fine day.
Well, I never knew we grew that crop here in Australia! The final location made me smile.
Thanks chewinprickles for the cache.

A long weekend and for months I'd planned to go to St Arnaud and then..... [|)][xx(] Sometimes it is just too hard to make a decision[|)][xx(] Along came dalerious who suggested St Arnaud on the 26th and then straight to Mt Buffalo after that As much as I'd wanted go to St Arnaud to see my SA friends who were there for the weekend, I just didn't have the capacity[|)][xx(] for that much driving. So we ended up going straight to Mt Buffalo as dalerious had a cave/underground creek cache he wanted to find and with rain predicted tonight doing that cache immediately seemed a safer idea [^]
This was in some ways an amazing weekend as I got to see and drive parts of the HIgh Country that I had never been to before [^] The only down side was that my anxiety was through the roof [|)][xx(] and so poor dalerious had to cope with my being pretty well non functioning which meant that something as simple as driving required huge mental effort and so it was a very slooooow weekend although dalerious did find his underground creek cache while Rex and I were safety officers. The 2 rangers that came up to speak to me about Rex were pleased when showed them his paperwork as they said that no one else had ever shown them any paperwork.
From Mt Buffalo we then headed off towards 4 newly published caches and at about 23:15 we got FTF on one (the HVPT Monument) before we set up on the side of the road to sleep [|)][|)] Turned out my 2nd hand stretcher tent was deer proof [?] but it was not rain proof and the storm that came across about 1:30am complete with lightening, thunder and lots of rain had me back inside Harry for the night when I ended up lying in a pool of water in my bed [:(!][xx(]
The morning was cloudy and the clouds and fog were around us as well as below us while we had a nice warm breakfast [^] then hit the track again to get to an event on time.
The next day after attending Dunmowin's farewell event we dried our sleeping bags at a laundromat in Bright. That night, we camped at Ah Young's campground after[^], for the 2nd night in a row , picking up a hitch hiking gentleman who was camping at Ah Young's and dropping him at his tent [^]
Although we did cachenap him on the 2nd night as we still had a cache or two to find [^] before we got to Ah Young's and so we dragged him with us!
On the last morning we found a few nearby caches and then made the dash for home as dalerious had work at 3pm
All up I found 20 caches and attended 1 event and then ended the weekend by finding a HSS cache that we had DNF'd on a previous trip.
Since 2014, I have wanted to find this cache and have stopped here on other visits since but never managed to make the find Today that nemesis status has gone Up In Smoke
As I have been about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up.
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! [^]

Lots of streetscaping works taking place in Myrtleford. The toilet block is undergoing an upgrade and the whole area is being landscaped. Can’t get to the statues to do this multi at the moment. ️
I stayed overnight in Myrtleford , so this morning wandered to this very interesting and informative sculpture. I read the plaques with interest then at GZ searched diligently until I found the cache. A favourite point for this one Thanks Chewinprickles
In Myrtleford for bread and milk, and to do some maintenance for BettyBoo. Thought I should clean up a few un-founds and DNFs to date.
This had fallen into the "unfound" list. I had started working on this multi a few months ago, and had taken photos of EVERYTHING with my phone. Then I drove over the phone with a golf buggy.
So, had to wait for the right time to revisit the site. This time, after local sandwiches, we approached the sculptures, found all the answers and re-caclulated GZ. Was very surprised with our calculations, but started the search anyway. Very clever hide and a great history lesson.
Thanks chewinprickes.

Found (again) with locus cache this time as we headed for the hills on the Australia Day long weekend (26/1/19).
Hmmm...well...yes. It would appear I may have forgotten to log a few caches I found on my solo homeward journey from holidaying with muggle friends.
At least by revisiting this one I could find my original mark and help nudge a caching friend's frown upside down.
Also nice to see the upgrade in the surrounding landscaping. [^]

I confess on both visits to this monument I did sit back and enjoy a hand rolled ciggy as I bathed in my little victory.

What a wonderful weekend in the Vic High Country, as Jacko, Timmo and I headed north-east to meet up with fellow adventurers for some crazy geocaching expeditions. Mt Feathertop and Mt Buffalo were our main target areas, and the adventures included technical tree climbs, camping, overnight hikes, serious elevation changes, cave swims, underground rivers, and a whole lot of fun!
Finally making our way home this afternoon we stopped in Myrtleford for a pub lunch. Or more like dinner...
Afterwards we needed to walk off some of those carbs (as if we hadn't walked enough over the past few days) so made our way to the starting co-ords. Wow, some amazing and relatively recent history here.
And a very sneaky cache that had us confused and doubting ourselves for quite a while .
Thanks, howjen567.

Heading back very slowly to Geelong after an epic weekend in the high country with Timmo and Pacman, swung by here for one last multi.
The coords checked out however for some reason my GPS put me 6m away looking in all the wrong places. A rethink had me in a much more sensible spot and after a decent search the cache was in hand. Wow, this was a tricky hide - surprised the DT is so low.
A really cool informative cache - taught me something about this town that I didn't quiet know. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.

Spent quite some time here, but couldn't find it. Have since contacted a friend and we got the numbers right, but just couldn't locate the cache. I'm sure we'll be back!

We decided a few months ago that we want to complete the Victorian LGA Polygon Challenge so today's challenge was to find caches in the Alpine and Wangaratta LGA's. After lunch we found some more caches, this was next and was a very interesting historical multi with a cool twist! We were surprised that the Tobacco production had finished as recently as it had. GMelb remembers on previous holidays in the area many years ago driving past tobacco crops!

A brilliant day for exploring, the sights, sounds and of course some caches in the surrounds of Bright and Myrtleford in the very good company of fellow Geelong cachers the Suscoe duo. It was fascinating to read about the tobacco, we can remember seeing the big leaf crops all along the highway when we lived in Wangaratta.
Our thanks to howjen567 for placing this cache.

Suscoe was out enjoying a delightful day in the very good company of Phetlern.
It was a delightful day to be caching with glorious sunshine, almost no breeze and a top temperature of around 28 degrees.
We saw green pastures, very healthy cattle, impressive mountains and beaut towns that appear along the Great Alpine Road and surrounds.
The diversity of caches was nice to see and we had a few challenging hides to sort out.
It was, all in all, a really good day for us to enjoy with our friends.

We double checked our math but we still couldn't find this one today. Thanks for the cache.
Like others before me it was tough work ensuring the clues were correct and a few mistakes were made after a double check but we eventually got there in the end. The kids were able to get some exercise after a nice lunch. Tftc
Found with Sharkiefan and FUF009 on our second day of caching our way around the area. Yesterday was the HVPT and today was Mt Buffalo and now Myrtleford.
We enjoyed reading the history boards as we gathered the numbers required.
We made an initial miscount which gave us co-ords that didn't seem quite right. After some head scratching and recounting, we found our error. At GZ, Sharkiefan found the very cleverly hidden cache. TFTC and history lessons howjen567

Found with FUF009 and chooknchunk. We got the numbers and plugged them in. They didn't look right. Checked again and hadn't read 1 question right. I made the find. Very clever. Tftc

Up in the Alpine Country with sharkiefan and chooknchunk for the long weekend.
Yesterday we went on the Power trail hunt. Today we went for Height, sights and hidden local knowledge.
After caching on the top of Mount Buffalo, we were in Myrtleford for a few more grabs.
After gathering all the info for GZ we found that we would be some way away. It didn't seem right so after rechecking the question and numbers we were soon on the way for GZ and after a bit of a hunt we had the cache in hand.

I was here on Saturday, and worked out the actual coords, but a high muggle count had me putting off the retrieval. Back here this arvo and all was much quieter.
It is an interesting history, and there are still plenty of reminders in the area of the industry.
Thanks for the hunt.
Cheers Gordo

We are back up here for 3 days to enjoy the beautiful area and take advantage of the many caches here and up on Mount Buffalo. While the male Triton was doing the more hard core group assaults on the mountain , McLookers and I spent a pleasant afternoon in and around Myrtleford doing the multis and picking up a few pre-solved Mysteries. After reading all the relevant info we soon had an obvious set of coordinates where we found the well concealed container.
Thanks howjen567 for teaching us some history on the tobacco industry in this area.

A great multi that taught us a lot about the local history. Great hide at GZ too. Found with The Tritonz this afternoon.
We were staying in the local caravan park and just had a meal at the pub and thought we'd tackle this in the Dark took us a little while to find surprised the cops didn't hassle us THANKS FOR THE ADVENTURE
