I have been meaning to come here for years and years and years, but I pass through so in frequently and Im always on a deadline. That is until today when I had the pleasure of exploring this fine park.
I finally stopped off at the organ pipes to try my hand at these Earthcaches for cache day.. was I suprised and impressed by the reserve?? You bet ya. I couldn't stop talking about it all day.. a very beautiful location.
So many times I have passed the turn off to the Organ Pipes National Park and never stopped. Have wanted to and finally got the chance over the school holidays. I was so surprised the NP was so close off the highway. Only half the park was covered on this trip so will return another day. Visited Rosette rock and the tessellated pavement. Answers sent to the CO. TFTC
This provided a great location to explore. I had seen these earthcaches but never been here until today.Really enjoyed this formation. Like an illusion almost.Fav.Thanks to hi pressure and adopted by Team Crackers for the fun and the adventure.
Lovely walk around Organ Pipes National park - this is a pretty cool rock - havent seen this formation previously.
After leaving Sunbury decided that seeing as the rain had cleared, I would call in to walk around the organ pipes park. So glad I did. The sun came out and it was lovely and awesome to see these unique features. Learnt something along the way as well! Thanks so much to Team Crackers for taking on this cacheRegardskbuckyLogging with permission
A little difficult to make out the patterns in the dawn gloom but thanks for bringing me to the popes, birds are very noisy and chatty this morning.
Well Done, Team Crackers. This Earth Cache is a delight to find. The temporary fencing around the official viewing platform looks like it will be here for a long time. The reeds are higher than I'd like to take a good photo so I walked down the track towards the creek hoping for a better vantage point. It was muddy underfoot. Some preschoolers were nearby with their parents. One little boy followed me down the track towards the creek. I called back, "It's slippery here," The boy excitedly called back to his Mum, "Mum! There someone sleeping down there!" I called back to him, 'I said slippery not sleeping!"
We were out and about looking for Earthcaches today. We are getting very close to our Project-GC Earthcache Diamond and want to get there fast.It started as a grey and moody morning and progressed to steady drizzle. Oh, how we love Melbourne weather. We got somewhat damp heading to this cache, as it was almost raining, and the drizzle was that thick. We love the well-formed paths around this area, making getting to all four Earthcaches in this park easy.Thank you, Team Crackers, for this Earthcache.
We kunnen terugkijken naar 2 mooie weken in Australi!NLBokkie and I are going on holiday to Australia for 4 weeks. We will go to Tasmania for the first week and then travel around on the "mainland" for 3 weeks. Along the way I'll meet my niece, I haven't seen her for 50 years. It will be a holiday full of experiences......Our cache goal is to visit different countries. So we fly back to Dubai and forth via HongKong. We would like to score an FTF in Australia. We do that in Tasmania Then the webcam caches in Adelaide and the old caches between Adelaide and Sydney. Then we end up at the Mega in Canberra. A full program which a lot of fun!Unfortunately, after 2 weeks we have to end our trip with an earlier return flight to the Netherlands. My mother passed away and we have to go back. We can look back at 2 beautiful weeks in Australia!
The boardwalk is out of action so we headed down to the riverbank for a better look. Found with Peppa and Davinells. Thanks for the earthcache Team Crackers
Apparently I had a plan I dont remember making a plan but here we are Beardman75, Davinells and I having a boys weekend in BallaratThe Geo Tour, rare placed month caches, challenges and some truely unique caches are secondary to main reason for the visit Attending the January Jamboree of Geocaching Joy in Ballarat event tonight we dont get out oftenThis is our first stop out of Melbourne Rainman knew wed need one of the D/Ts in here for a challenge well sign in 2027Despite the heat it was a pleasant walk and the geology was abundant I was told I didnt have to lick the rocks it was hard not to express my disappointmentDavinells was fairly elected secretary and submitted answers on our behalfThanks 10627
Peppa had a plan that required a boys trip to Ballarat. Beardman75 was in the drivers seat and I started off navigating, first on the list was the Organ pipes national park. I wanted a specific EC in this area but then we noticed there were 4, so a loop walk it was! Very cool rock formation, thanks for showing us this spot Team CrackersFind #5134
Off to Melbourne for a party so we detoured via here on the way to find an Earthcache (or 4)! I had no idea what I was in for and the steep hill was a killer! Ha ha. Anyway we very much enjoyed our walk around here looking at the different geological features. Now this was so cool - a great feature. Fav added! Answers sent. Thanks for the cache.
Over from NZ for a weeks holiday and with nice weather today, we made the most of it by getting out into the countryside for a few caches.
First stop was the Organ Pipes park and the opportunity for four earthcaches. The viewing platform is fenced off, but that never stopped an intrepid cacher. ..
Interesting bird boxes in the park too, but I suspect they are actually for the bats .. Spotted a big grey roo crossing the track on our way out. Answers sent. TFT(E)C

Today we visited the organ pipes np. Luckily it was not busy so could park the caravan easily. We decidedly to look at this rock formation and we were surprised at the shape of it. The viewing platform is currently clised but we still had a good view ov it. We have never come across this type before.
It was interesting reading the information boards.
Thanks for putting this earth cache together

Unfortunately the viewing platform is still off limits, but still got a good look at this inbetween viewing the organ pipes and tessellated.
We made it back up the hill, with a few stops along the way!

I had the morning to spare so I decided to increase my count of caches found in Brimbank LGA... and what better place to start that Organ Pipes where there are 4 earth caches. Continuing my anti-clockwise stroll, this was earth cache number three. Taking the required photograph was a bit tricky due to Parks Vic continued inability to actually get anything fixed...
Thanks **Team Crackers** for keeping this old **hi pressure** earth cache going.

I visited the organ pipes national park and melbourne on 18th of October and am finally getting around to logging some of the earthcaches i enjoyed on that trip. This one is a spectacular example of volcanic geology, thanks for showing me.
I came here in such a better day! It looks beautiful today even though it is raining at least the sun isn't in my eyes today, thankyou for showing us this today
Enjoyed the easy wander around the different formations. This one looks like Tantive IV's escape pod.
We found all the formations very interesting and it was convenient they are so close to Melbourne. Great earthcache, tftc.
This was a totally new geological experience for me. I wasn’t even aware of rosettes in rock so loved this educational and fitness experience A highly recommended cache and awarding a favourite point TFTC Team Crackers
TFTC - as the viewing platform has been closed off for a while, I’ve never paid any attention to this formation before. Thanks for bringing it up.
The observation area is still behind fencing, and with our typical derring don't we looked from afar. I can see the rosette, but for me it reminded me of mitotic chromosomes. 'Mitotic Chromosomes Rock' sounds catchy, and very 21st century too... #ParksVictoria #justanidea Thanks Team Crackers
There is one thing lockdown is good for... catching up on logs! Earthcaches are my nemesis as I never get around to submitting my answers. Having visited the Organ Pipes National Park recently, it was time to catch up on the logs. I tidied up my answers and sent them through and got a prompt green light from the CO.
Thanks Team Crackers for the cache.

19 June 2020, this certainly does look like the Rosetta stone. Amazing how Mother Nature creates...thanks for getting me down here to revisit!
Now restrictions are easing it was time to go and visit a few more places around Melbourne, first time to Organ Pipes national park and what a great place it is.
Four Earth Caches here to discover and a lot of education on how the land and rock was formed.
Thanks for the Earth Cache

When we got here nobody noticed the Rosette Rock because there was a big fence up. But we peeked down the side and when we turned around there was a crowd behind. Follow the leader! This was just as impressive as the organ pipes to me. The photo is as close as I could get to the spot.

The viewing Platform is still off limits but the cache is still obtainable through the cyclone fence.
Even though the viewing platform is barricaded, the rosette is still clearly visible. Answers sent off.

We have been informed the area is closed off at the momnet and the cache site is not reachable.
We will endevour to find a time line Monday.

A quick trip across to Melton for an event and I brought up some select caches to try along the way.
Final one for the day before attending the nearby event. Area is closed off, but could still get close enough to gather the answers. Which were sent to the CO and have been approved.
TFTC, a great walk around this park.

We visited the Organ Pipes National Park today on our way home from Hanging Rock. I have been wanting to visit here for a long time but we always managed to time our visit when the gates were due to close or had closed. It was certainly worth the visit. We really enjoyed walking around and looking at the different rock formations. The hill in and out was a bit steep though!
The viewing area for the rock here was closed unfortunately but there was plenty of other places to view this interesting rock formation!
Answers sent to the CO. My Earthcache geocoin visited today.

A really interesting spot that I am pleased to have now visited.
So many times we have driven past and cannot really recall ever visiting. Maybe it was the hill leaving GZ that held us back Well worth it though.

Thought we'd make quick city trip to a pretty touristy spot we both have never been despite living in Melbourne all our lives. We took the goat path down from the car park to the tesselated pavement before finding this. Great walk here today.
After sending answers to the CO I can happily log this earth cache as found. Will need to go back to claim the third earth cache in this beautiful amazing location. Thanks for bringing me to an area I never knew existed. Thanks for the educational experience, I thoroughly enjoyed being here. Thankyou! Fav point given for such a beautiful experience.
Thanks for a great cache. Learnt a little and visited a new park which I’d driven past a few times.
A short stop at the organ pipes park today. Too hot for hiking, but gold enough for some caches like this one. TFTC.
Time for another adventure to attend the MEGA in Parkville VIC. Plans were made with Rapidlywild to work on all the puzzles around the area before the trip and head down to this event together. Lots of fun was had collecting all types of caches over the long weekend/week which included puzzles, multi's, earth caches, labs, trads and even a couple of virtuals for good measure, (think we may have to invest in an e-bike).
After picking up the remainder of our team we set off to do some Earth caches nearby.
Strolled around collecting all the information then back up the hill to the car.
All answers were sent to the CO and not long after go the green light to log.
TFTEC and bringing us to this area Team Crackers. Very interesting and thanks Rapidlywild for the giggles and another great adventure.

Well its MEGA time again and plans were put in place with the FurfacesLL ladies for another weekend of fun and trouble Had the company of one of the ladies just for the weekend however was lucky enough to have the company of FFLL#1 for the drive down, across the weekend, as well as a week in and around the Gippsland area. We attended a number of events, visited a number of Earthcaches, virtuals and a nice number of caches. Many challenges collected and many multis completed.
After picking up FFLL#2 from the airport, we decided to come and have a crack at the 3 EC's over here. Lovely walk around the area collecting information and chin wagging as we went. Answers submitted through to the CO - pending approval.
Thanks for the Earthcache Team Crackers and the ladies of FurfacesLL for another great caching adventure away from home

Like others, this is a place you always mean to visit but dont get to..bit today it filled a perfect bit of time. What cool examples of geology. We enjoyed comparing these features to some we recently saw in QLD. Thanks for the earthcache!

I've passed this park and have always thought of pulling in, but have never had that much time for the caches here.
But today I had tons of time and while they were not on my list to do I decided a well earned detour was in order.
After pulling up in the car park there was people getting stuff from the back of their car. Then i Noticed the TB on the Car Window, it was Darkandstormy. WOW what are the chances of that, over 200ks from home and I run into another team.
After a quick introduction we decided to team up and grab the answers for all 3 Earth caches in this area.
Logging as answers have been send to CO.

Heading to Trentham for the weekend had us taking our first break of the drive. Just as we were getting our water bottles, FUF009 spotted our travel bugs on the old geo-loppy. After a quick introduction all round we joined forces to wander the trails and collect the answers to the three earth caches located at this parkland. Many thanks to Team Crackers for adopting and maintaining this cache. KKams

Late log: Just realised I didn't log this earth cache from 25/9/18, and it is now 26/1/20 lol. Anyway, I journeyed here with my muggle boyfriend during a week off work which I spent hiking and visiting areas around the west of Melbourne. I've been near this park so many times but had never had a chance to visit, so I decided it was a good place to check out on my break. I'm glad I did. What a wonderful area! Such unique rock formations and lots of wildlife. We saw wallabies and bluetongues. Thanks for the cache guys, and allowing me to log so much later!

Been on my hit list since I started caching 2 years ago, today I finally got there
Thanks for a very cool cache at such a beautiful place. Tried taking a picture, but the sun was siting at the perfect ‘right in your face’ angle.
Really loved the rest of the park too and the geological formations.

Logging with CO permission. A lovely walk was had in the park today. I've been meaning to stop by here to see the organ pipes for a while. It was a bonus to find there were other interesting rock formations around the park and discover those. TFTC.
Found and provided answers to CO with tassie expat while exploring this beautiful area. Thanks for the earth cache, it's very interesting.
Haven't received a response from CO (it is that time of year when most people take holidays). Happy to delete if they are not happy with answers. Was out with frmen1 in this lovely and interesting area. Thank you for bringing us here. A very interesting geological feature which we learned quite a lot about. I have attached a pic as it was too big to load as part of answers.
I don't usually get interested in rocks and still find myself slightly mythed by earth caches but I must admit this area really caught my interest. I genuinely found myself wondering how it was made. A little digging and the answers revealed themselves. TFTC!
I made a near miss today. You see, I read about some rocks when I got home, instead of giving attention to my killer cats. Some people might suggest I’m joking about this, but when one of them is in witness protection due to some serial murders, life can get pretty scary. However, with that aside, I visited this very cool national park earlier in the day, found some rocks that were very pretty, and managed to send through some answers! Thanks for bringing me to this rock formation, even though it ended up making me risk my life later in the day. TFTC Team Crackers
This was our last cache in the park.
We made our way to this park, packed full of kids, lunches, and iPhones for photos. Enjoyed every step of this cache, as well as the others in the area.
This was my 2nd full day in Oz after making my way from Canada. My gracious friends from Caroline Springs are hosting me for the next 2 months.
Thanks for the education and great walk.

Visited the Rosette Rock last weekend whilst on the day out to hanging rock. Dragged the kids down the hill, the easy bit, then have to coach them back-up. Great little spot for a nose around and some fascinating rock formations. Sent all my answers to the CO last weekend. Still awaiting their response. TFTC
We visited The Organpipes National Park on our way to Bendigo and just getting around to logging the Earthcaches I did while there. This is a part of the park I don't remember seeing this spectacular rock formation before. Thanks for bringing us here.
Thanks to Team Crackers for maintaining this earthcache and for the speedy response to my answers.
This was actually the first earthcache we visited on our walk today but I'm logging these out of order.
The children wanted to submit a different answer to mine, and the CO would have accepted both- so I shan't argue with them in future.
The eldest child said he saw a snake here - Beyond the barrier, down below, I didn't see it but it was a timely reminder for the children to listen to mum, and not stray off track. He was a tad disgruntled at this point in our walk, and the others were trying to annoy him by enjoying the walk with extreme enthusiasm- skipping about saying "I love lava, I love rocks... thank you for taking us on this wonderful walk mummy" and it was working a treat. Each statement was evoking a scowling growl from him. Thankfully he's not quite a teenager yet, and was won round by the time we got to the tessellated pavement a few meters away . I suspect therefore that the snake didn't exist and was a device to counter the exuberant over-liking of the walk. It may have distracted them long enough, to forget their tactic.
In the end I was glad that we were all in a happy mood for the majority of the walk, and wasn't too worried about howbthat came about.

This was the second of the earthcaches I visited at Organ Pipes NP today. The photos of this formation do not do the Rosette justice, it is really amazing to see in real-life and I loved finding out more about the geology occurring in the area. The CO has given me the okay to log. TFTEC hi pressure and Team Crackers , what an interesting place to visit
Perhaps the most enjoyable of the four ECs I visited at the park. What made it so? I really enjoyed the shape of the lava flow as not only did it remind me of the shape of the item in the title but also metal filings around a magnet.
Although the attached picture focuses on the GPS rather than the natural feature I thought that point more appropriate as you can see the natural formation in focus on the cache page and of course if you google rosette rock.
Thanks for maintaining this EC for all of our enjoyment, Team Crackers!
