I finally stopped off at the organ pipes to try my hand at these Earthcaches for cache day.. was I suprised and impressed by the reserve?? You bet ya. I couldn't stop talking about it all day.. a very beautiful location. I thought it was Overkill with bringing the hiking poles as the tourist arrived.. thankfully I got to spend some peaceful time here before the influx...i went up the goat track back to the carpark the exertion and the view took my breath away in more ways than one .. but what amazing views ...and in the end the hiking pole was definitely not overkill it sure came in handy.
My partner and I wanted a new location to visit and this was the perfect idea with great formations and nature. Thanks to hi pressure (adopted by maccamob) for the fun and the adventure.
After a wet start to the day for my brief crawl visit, I stayed in Sunbury ( Rainbury??) to cache for awhile before heading home. Couldnt resist calling in here after so many times driving past on way home. You know, you are heading home and just want to get there? Anyway, so glad I stopped today - the rain cleared and I had a gorgeous walk. Thanks so much for luring me here hi pressure and thanks for maintaining a worthwhile earthcache maccamobRegardskbucky
Great dawn trip around the park. Spotted a few non-fossilised and very large kangaroos on my way around. Tftc.
We were out and about looking for Earthcaches today. We are getting very close to our Project-GC Earthcache Diamond and want to get there fast.It started as a grey and moody morning and progressed to steady drizzle. Oh, how we love Melbourne weather. We got somewhat damp heading to this cache, as it was almost raining, and the drizzle was that thick. We love the well-formed paths around this area, making getting to all four Earthcaches in this park easy.Thank you, maccamob, for this Earthcache.
We kunnen terugkijken naar 2 mooie weken in Australi!NLBokkie and I are going on holiday to Australia for 4 weeks. We will go to Tasmania for the first week and then travel around on the "mainland" for 3 weeks. Along the way I'll meet my niece, I haven't seen her for 50 years. It will be a holiday full of experiences......Our cache goal is to visit different countries. So we fly back to Dubai and forth via HongKong. We would like to score an FTF in Australia. We do that in Tasmania Then the webcam caches in Adelaide and the old caches between Adelaide and Sydney. Then we end up at the Mega in Canberra. A full program which a lot of fun!Unfortunately, after 2 weeks we have to end our trip with an earlier return flight to the Netherlands. My mother passed away and we have to go back. We can look back at 2 beautiful weeks in Australia!
After a steep clamber down, it was nice to have a flat path to wander along with the river flowing quickly. Found with Peppa and Davinells. Thanks for the earthcache maccamob
Apparently I had a plan I dont remember making a plan but here we are Beardman75, Davinells and I having a boys weekend in BallaratThe Geo Tour, rare placed month caches, challenges and some truely unique caches are secondary to main reason for the visit Attending the January Jamboree of Geocaching Joy in Ballarat event tonight we dont get out oftenThis is our first stop out of Melbourne Rainman knew wed need one of the D/Ts in here for a challenge well sign in 2027Despite the heat it was a pleasant walk and the geology was abundant I was told I didnt have to lick the rocks it was hard not to express my disappointmentDavinells was fairly elected secretary and submitted answers on our behalfThanks maccamob
Peppa had a plan that required a boys trip to Ballarat. Beardman75 was in the drivers seat and I started off navigating, first on the list was the Organ pipes national park. I wanted a specific EC in this area but then we noticed there were 4, so a loop walk it was! A steep down hill to get us going but a lovely area to walk through. Thanks for bringing us here maccamobFind #5132
Off to Melbourne for a party so we detoured via here on the way to find an Earthcache (or 4)! I had no idea what I was in for and the steep hill was a killer! Ha ha. Anyway we very much enjoyed our walk around here looking at the different geological features. Answers sent. Many thanks for the cache.
Made it back to the top of the hill and got to log all these natural wonders. Thanks so much for helping to educate the GeoFamily.
Over from NZ for a weeks holiday and with nice weather today, we made the most of it by getting out into the countryside for a few caches.
First stop was the Organ Pipes park and the opportunity for four earthcaches. Interesting bird boxes in the trees but I suspect they are actually for the bats .. Spotted a big grey roo crossing the track on our way out. Answers sent. TFT(E)C

We decided to come to the organ pipes np. We were lucky it was not a busy day and we managed to park the car and caravan.
We saw a few people on the walk this was our last earth cache. We saw lots of the bat boxes in the trees. We originally thought they were bird boxes until we read the information boards. Once we found this cache we headed up to the carpark via the Goat track. That is one steep track
Thanks for putting this earth cache together and bringing us to this area.

I had the morning to spare so I decided to increase my count of caches found in Brimbank LGA... and what better place to start that Organ Pipes where there are 4 earth caches. This one was my first stop... I followed a trail on the Geocaching app that Parks Victoria didn't have signed... and I hadn't gone far before I worked out why. Narrow, steep and very slippery even when quite dry... and not recommended! I safely made it to GZ... took my photo and worked out where to look for the required answers... which have been sent.
Thanks **maccamob** for keeping this old **hi pressure** earth cache going.

Thanks for the education earth cache; such a beautiful spot to come and visit!
Hi Maccamob,
I visited the Organ Pipes National Park and this earthcache last month. Im finally getting around to logging it after sending my answers to the questions last week and getting the go ahead.
It was lovely to see you both at the Whittlesea Mega over the weekend, and thanks for another enjoyable cache Maccamob.

Lovely little walk took us up and over, back to the car park with some stunning views.
This earth cache was hard for me to get the answers but it was beautiful to come view this! I been down here before and never even new this was here! So thankyou for taking us here today this with is beautiful
Log deleted for lack of answers to the questions. You are welcome to re-log when the answers are supplied.
The sun was lighting up the sediments when I was here, but I decided that onwards was the best way back to the geovehicle. Rapidly became a real workout for the huff and luff department as the goat track headed steeply up. All very educational for the brai and excellent exercise TFTC maccamob
TFTC and the lesson, as I never paid any attention to the rocks on the opposite shore.
#2 for us today on our Organ Pipes walk with some Bruce cousins, having a post lockdown chat about the Euro championships and PFAS contamination and Dark Emu like the renaissance types that we are. I didn't find any answers on site, but they weren't hard to find back home. Thanks maccamob
There is one thing lockdown is good for... catching up on logs! Earthcaches are my nemesis as I never get around to submitting my answers. Having visited the Organ Pipes National Park recently, it was time to catch up on the logs. I tidied up my answers and sent them through and got a prompt green light from the CO.
Thanks maccamob for the cache.
Thanks maccamob for the cache.
Enabled following relaxation of the Covid-19 restrictions. Available to those living within 25km, and to everyone else (hopefully) after 09Nov20.
Disabled for the duration of the renewed Covid-19 Melbourne lockdown. We believe the responsible thing is to disable all our Melbourne caches until this latest crisis passes.
Thanks.
Thanks.
19 June 2020, logging after permission from CO. Thanks for getting me to revisit this great place, virtually my back yard but haven't been here for a very long time!
Now restrictions are easing it was time to go and visit a few more places around Melbourne, first time to Organ Pipes national park and what a great place it is.
Four Earth Caches here to discover and a lot of education on how the land and rock was formed.
Thanks for the Earth Cache

This one was quite the adventure. We came down the side track from behind the visitor shelter rather than the main track, which was quite steep and extremely muddy. It was the most slippery mud I have ever come across and we had about 2 inches caked onto the bottom of our boots. But we had the track to ourselves even though the main track was very crowded.
Thanks for the geology lesson and taking us to this great spot - lots of boxes all around for the rare bats. TFTC

Disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis. Although exercise is ok, beaches, parks etc are gradually being closed, and we are being asked to stay home. The virus can be transmitted by surface contact, so please don't take the chances. Geocaching is a game, and we are dealing with a serious Public Health issue, so we need to get our priorities in order. Please stay at home!
We believe the responsible thing is to disable all our caches, until this crisis passes.
Thanks.

Headed to Geelong with Mrs. iowaPete today. Our first travel day since landing in Melbourne last Saturday. I'm in the process of learning to drive on the left side of the road. I was grateful to the gentleman at the car rental agency who spent a great deal of time with me to get me oriented as to how to handle those first couple nervous hours behind the wheel.
So, stopping every 15-20 minutes, gave me a chance to focus on driving, then take a break while we chased after a cache or two, before repeating the process. I got more confident with each driving session and I didn't fatigue or overstress. Plus, we found a nice little pile of caches by the time we got to Geelong. [^]
Since we were already here to find the information for the Organ Pipes earch cache, Mrs. iP and I decided to give it a go with this cache as well. At first, I was a bit flummoxed by the questions. I expected to find the information easily, but it was Mrs. iP's keen eyesight that spotted the various snippets that allowed us to complete the requirements. Having marked everything down for later, I snapped a couple photos and we headed back to the car.
Answers already sent to the CO (little did we know that we'd meet just a few hours later!!).
Photo added to this log entry as well.
Enjoyed our visit very much. Greetings from Iowa, USA!

A quick trip across to Melton for an event and I brought up some select caches to try along the way.
A tricky earthcache. Answers have been sent off, awaiting verification. A really REALLY steep walk in here from the car park. TFTC!

We finally managed to visit the Organ Pipes National Park after years of failed attempts (i.e. arrived after closing, gates about to close). It really was worth the wait! After a steep walk into the park and visiting the Rosette Stone and the Organ Pipes themselves, we walked to the posted coordinates and had a look around. Quite a small National Park but a fascinating ares to explore.
Answers sent to CO and my Earthcache geocoin visited.

Thought we'd make quick city trip to a pretty touristy spot we both have never been despite living in Melbourne all our lives. We took the goat path down from the car park to the tesselated pavement before finding this. We took the goat path straight up the hill back to the car. Great walk here today.
Such a lovely area. Pleased we are only doing 1 EC at a time so we can come back again and again.
We have lived in the area for many years but find it hard to recall coming here. A really interesting area. Looking forward to the next time, and the walk back up that hill!
Thanks maccamob for keeping this one going.

After CO confirming I was ok to log this earth cache, I am now turning it into a smiley. Had an amazing time wondering this beautiful reserve over two days, I came back to attempt this one as I ran out of time yesterday dter arriving quite late in the day. I haven't done many earth caches so happy to have three quite close to one another. Thanks for the geology lesson I have walked away from this reserve with more knowledge than I arrived with. As mentioned already it's a beautiful area and for that I give you a favourite point. Thanks again, I had a great two days.
Time for another adventure to attend the MEGA in Parkville VIC. Plans were made with Rapidlywild to work on all the puzzles around the area before the trip and head down to this event together. Lots of fun was had collecting all types of caches over the long weekend/week which included puzzles, multi's, earth caches, labs, trads and even a couple of virtuals for good measure, (think we may have to invest in an e-bike).
After picking up the remainder of our team from the airport we set off to do some Earth caches nearby.
Strolled around collecting all the information then back up the hill to the car.
All answers were sent to the CO and were given the green light to log
TFTEC and bringing us to this area maccamob and thanks Rapidlywild for the giggles and another great adventure.

Well its MEGA time again and plans were put in place with the FurfacesLL ladies for another weekend of fun and trouble Had the company of one of the ladies just for the weekend however was lucky enough to have the company of FFLL#1 for the drive down, across the weekend, as well as a week in and around the Gippsland area. We attended a number of events, visited a number of Earthcaches, virtuals and a nice number of caches. Many challenges collected and many multis completed.
After picking up FFLL#2 from the airport, we decided to come and have a crack at the 3 EC's over here. Lovely walk around the area collecting information and chin wagging as we went. Answers submitted through to the CO and approval to log granted.
Thanks for the Earthcache maccamob and the ladies of FurfacesLL for another great caching adventure away from home

I've passed this park and have always thought of pulling in, but have never had that much time for the caches here.
But today I had tons of time and while they were not on my list to do I decided a well earned detour was in order.
After pulling up in the car park there was people getting stuff from the back of their car. Then i Noticed the TB on the Car Window, it was Darkandstormy. WOW what are the chances of that, over 200ks from home and I run into another team.
After a quick introduction we decided to team up and grab the answers for all 3 Earth caches in this area.
Logging with permission of CO.

Heading to Trentham for the weekend had us taking our first break of the drive. Just as we were getting our water bottles, FUF009 spotted our travel bugs on the old geo-loppy. After a quick introduction all round we joined forces to wander the trails and collect the answers to the three earth caches located at this parkland. Many thanks to maccamob for adopting and maintaining this cache. KKams

Completed on the second day of my ‘week of day hikes challenge’. It’s great to have caches along the way! I appreciated the extra effort original CO went to with all the info in the cache page and macamob for adopting it. A very interesting read indeed! A beautiful spot and caching is great excuse to enjoy it and learn about the geology of the area. I had to do a bit of extra googling to answer these questions and learnt a lot, including learning about a type of creature I hadn’t heard of before. I’d call that one of the highlights of caching! Thanks for the cache!
I remember that I was supposed to log this one a while ago.
I remember being in this area years ago when the kids were younger and it was still enjoyable to walk around and take in the views.
Answered noted and sent off to the CO and with permission I am logging this find

Logging with permission from COs. We enjoyed the easy walk down and around the geological wonders. What a great place. Earthcaches are far more interesting as an adult than geology was at school. Then the walk up...thankfully we are fit. Thanks to the COs for maintaining this Earthcache.
My first earthcache since arriving back from Sydney. I had hoped the number of earth related finds I mustered on my journeys would make these answers easy to complete. Clearly not, I got one wrong but still a successful result in the end. TFTC!
I’ll be honest. I’m not a rock person. I’m a cat person. I didn’t know what this rock was. I’ve spent way too many evenings entertaining my cats, instead of reading geology books, clearly. However, some reading of signs, some learning from Wikipedia and I soon had the answers. The cats are angry, but I get a smiley face on an Earthcache. So is it really a loose loose situation? I didn’t think so, until they attacked, stole my phone and made a video of how neglected they were this evening for the RSPCA. I just can’t win TFTC maccamob
Logging with permission, an enjoyable morning in this National Park, easy to get to with public transport.
Got the ok to log this one, so here goes...
Arrived in Oz a few days ago and tried for a traditional or two without success. Since Earthcaches have a greater chance of being found, we made the short drive over to the park.
This was the second EC of the day, but the 1st CO to reply. Loved loved loved the area and really enjoyed the views and the cool volcanic activity around.
Very appreciative of the quick reply from the CO. 1st Aussie find!
Thanks for the fun adventure as we kick off 2 months of travelling, visiting friends, and geocaching.

Today was a lot of fun. I drove the children to Organ pipes park after deciding that we were all well enough to walk around a national park and check out an earthcache or four, and despite a little suspicion about how long the walk would be, we all had a lovely time.
We brought a sandwich lunch, that we enjoyed at a picnic/toilets area very close to the organ pipes. I recently discovered the ham off the bone joint at aldi, and the children think that is delicious, so when offered the choice of a cheese or ham sandwich they all opted for ham.
After sandwiches they asked what snack I had packed - I answered "100's and 1000's teddy tot biscuits". Little miss 6 (who turns 7 tomorrow with her twin brother) looked at me aghast and said "that's way too many biscuits!"
See pic for her moment of realisation.
A friend had given us a huge pile of "freshness wipes" from KFC so I handed those round and the Children were very impressed with them. I can't think why they'd never have come across a moist towelette before - but there you go.
We walked down the track to the earthcache, and two colourful parrots flew across our path. We found our way to where you can see the rocks from across the bank, and appreciated the view. After deciding I had enough photos to work with I took them down to cross the creek to look at ruins, but as there's a cache over there, I'll leave that story for that.
Thanks for the quick response and for continuing the earthcache, Maccamob

Ever since having seen the FB post around last year's event held here on International Earthcache Day I had wanted to visit Organ Pipes N.P. Today was the day that I decided to do something about that wish and drove up.
A descent down to the valley floor saw me visit the four EC sites including this one. I was a little confused by the lack of information or spectacular formation until I read the hint. After visiting Rosette Rock and the Tesselated Pavement ECs back up I went to gather the requisite information.
An enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours and for the first time I chose to comply with the spirit of the original CO by taking a photo of my GPSr at the requested location. Not too shabby for a first effort of balancing a garmin in one hand whilst manipulating a largish phone in the other.
Thanks for showing me a little about sedimentary rocks and the various time periods around which they formed in this part of the world.

Another cache and some great views on our family walk around Organ Pipes NP. This was our last stop and didn't disappoint with the views, trees and flowers starting to come out. Great day to walk and cache. 4 earthcaches and a traditional in less than an hour. Thanks for setting up. Answers submitted.
Really enjoyed my stroll around the park today. Completed all caches but will log finds when home in NZ when I can download photos from camera to laptop.Old trusty ipad 1 has no camera.
Made my way out here after work and got here at 4pm. Parked the car at the gates to avoid being locked in. Manged to see all of the park in about 40 mins.
Grabbed the info needed for this earthcache, then took the time to read the details today.
Thanks for explaining this and the history here. I was born and raised 20min north of here so it's a significant part of Victoria for me, and my first time to the spot.
*I could not send my answers due to CO no longer being active. Please know I have the answers at hand and am logging this in good faith. Cheers

Our visit to Victoria with OrionJ was coming to an end today and this proved to be our last Càche before flying back to Brisbane this afternoon. The choice of how to spend our last morning could not have been better than our visit to this amazing National Park. We spent some time researching answers to the questions for this Earthcache. Then had to head towards the airport. Thankyou for creating this Earthcache hi pressure.

Today was the last day in Melbourne for myself and LHE Duo, so we had a look at a couple of options and decided on a visit to Organ Pipes National Park.
The last stop for the day here and it was also the fifth Earthcache for the day. It was really great seeing the park here and getting to see some different parts of the geology of the area.
After collecting the information and the photos needed, we soon headed back to the car. Alas the route chosen was far from the best and we probably should have taken the little bit longer but easier route of returning the way we came in.

Geo teen was in the area today, so she grabbed all the details needed to log this cache :)
Sometimes (not often) is good that she is on the other side of the city!
Thanks HiPressure for the lessons :)

I was here at the Organ Pipes National Park for the event marking international earth cache day so only appropriate that we should tackle the earth caches here in the park. The youngest Tarbit had oscillating interest in the geology but did fancy a little paddle in the creek. Less to see here than other area in the park but good to learn more about the history and geology of the park. Answers recorded and emailed to the CO. Visited a bunch of trackables that I'm taking to the Melbourne mega event next month. Thanks for the earth cache hi pressure and please let me know if there is any issue with my answers. Pic included as required.

Group assault on this cache with 08151605, Sharkiefan, RobinYang, AnnoyingTarbit and Spiffy on International Earthcache Day, with gorgeous sunshiny day. Lots of bat people around service bat-boxes, but didn't see batman!
Found on International Earthcache Day with geniejoan, Sharkiefan, RobinYang, Spiffy and Annoying Tarbit.
Being in a huge hurry today and needing an EC for International Earth Cache day, I hurriedly looked and the map and saw this was the closest to our destination today. I would have loved to been able to go to the event and do the other 4 caches here in the park but time and family didn't permit. I was influenced by the CO as to which one I chose, I'm a bit of a hi_pressure fan and I really like fossils so this was it. TFTC
Found by Mary & David at 1520. Our 4th Earthcache for the day! Interested to learn about this formation that doesn't seem to attract much attention compared to its volcanic neighbours. Very interested to learn more about it today after the Event. Answers sent. Our thanks to hi pressure.
Answers sent in by spiffy. A great spot I'd always wanted to come to but never seemed to have the time. Today is International Earthcache Day and I held an event here specifically so I could do these Earthcaches. So much more fun with friends. This was the last earthcache of the afternoon and I have to say I struggled to see anything that was of much interest to me here. I'm not a geology nut. Still, nice to have another smiley. Tftc
Today being International Earthcache day 2015 I headed a long long way from home (40km away) to the event in the Organ Pipes National Park.
After the event concluded a group of us headed around the whole park gathering answers for all these earth caches.
Photo of sharkiefan and I at GZ attached.
Thanks hi pressure for the cache, the hunt and the fun.
