attended this event and was very iterested in the talk by EcoTeam and wm currently in the process of downloading the talk to watch it again.
Being able to re watch this will help in the process of putting a new cache together that I have thought of recently.
Swapped a couple of travelers had a bit to eat then meet up with the rest of the team who were out doing a few caches in the local area.
Thanks for another interesting event and will catch up again at the AGM.

Many thanks to EcoDave for his very interesting presentation especially the story about team Ideology, very enjoyable meeting. Thanks for organising.

Thank you the committees for organised Geocaching 101 event meeting which it was a worth for me to attended and learned more about geocaches. It was interested story about EcoTeam's 10 years experience. I was amazed with Idelogy's old times but not nowadays. Other thing, it was interested about the new equipments as well when Dave presented. Also I would like to say a big thank you to our interpreter for attended the meeting for sevabo and me otherwise if we have no interpreter then it will be difficult for us anyway thanks.
Now this was a great history lesson. I really seemed like a caching back then was a real buzz.
I was talking to a mate that works with me (Blackbeards Pirates - Transposing Oats, ILLAWRONG, Key Ring Circus, Picnic with the Georges and Fast Food Fiasco to name a few) about it and I could see the HUGE smile come across his face. He started telling me the storey about "Play it again Sam", how he was perched under an overhang at 10:30 one evening trying to decipher Morse Code...
Thanks Dave for the history, I've got an order in for a voice recorder module and with a few ideas in mind, I hope I can do justice to the old days.
Thanks to Team Webguy and The Spindoctors for organising.

Enjoyed the day, especially the presentation by EcoTeam. Perhaps we could have more such presentations in the future. Thanks to all for organising day. See you all at the AGM.

With the original slides overlayed. So if you didn't see the slides properly on the day now it might have some more context.

Another fun and well organised event, and many thanks to EcoDave from EcoTeam for telling us some of the fun history of caching in Sydney. Not sure if I want Get Smart to inspire too many people though even if it shounds like a lot of fun. Great to see old and new faces alike.
Thanks very much to the Committee for another informative and entertaining morning.
Those early teams certainly knew how to produce imaginative and unique caches.

As usual, we enjoyed meeting old and new friends. Hi Anna.
The talks were informative and interesting. Took me back to my beginning days of caching.

Interesting presentations and another very good turnout. Thank you to Webguy for organising. I look forward to getting a RAM mount and attempting to put together an element or two of the old Mega caches. Chatted to a few geocachers and shared information. Hope to help out another soon.

Another top event organised by Gecaching NSW!! I really enjoyed the talk by EcoDave and hearing about the "Get Smart" cache. It sounded a hoot but I'm not sure I would have enjoyed snooping around the back streets of Kings Cross like that. I guess I'm not as adventurous as some. It was a great presentation and I thank EcoDave for putting it together.
I also enjoyed the talk by Paul from RAM Mounts. As it turns out, one of my jobs tomorrow is to investigate mobile phone mounts for vehicles in the company fleet. I wsn't sure where to start..... now I do!!! He'll certainly be getting a call from me.
As always, it was great to see people I knew and meet some new ones. Great to put a face to GazMag and thanks for your help with your Oregon 450. Also, it was great to meet robandkris who are new to Geocaching. I'm looking forward to meeting up again soon.
Sincere thanks to all our organisers for today. Top job!! I'm looking forward to the AGM and another opportunity to catch up.
Cheers, Calypso62

Thanks
Many thanks for providing the great speakers. Both were vey informative.
Just loved hearing the adventures of the EcoTeam during some of those early days. I wonder if such adventures will/can happen again?
We joined up on the day and look forward to a long association.
Thanks again
Team Trailor.

I was really looking forward to both presentations, Eco Dave and Nic introduced me to geocaching, so they are to blame for a lot of things I think. Get back in your box BadMan!
I enjoyed hearing about the heady old days where if you managed to do 1 cache a month, you were elite! Not like now days...
Great event!!

So glad I went to the Geocaching 101 event and found it interesting to hear the experiences and history of geocaching from EcoTeam. I really enjoyed hearing about the Mega caches and would have loved to have been around and involved in the those days sounded like so much fun and a challenge too. Anyway Thanks Geocaching NSW for organised the event.

Great turnout, I hope everyone enjoyed my 45 minute random ramble about "the good'ol days"
For those that missed it I should have the video up Youtube soon.

It was great to hear some of the stories about the original Sydney caches from EcoDave & EcoNic. Not sure that the same type of caches would work as well now mainly because then there were only a dozen or so cachers descending on the cache and now it would be 50 or 60 or more. A great event and it was good to see all the combinations that are available using the RAM mounts. one or two will be my next "caching" purchase fro sure. Thanks to all that organised the event.
We will have the association coins for sale at the event, not many left and once this edition is gone, thats it.
Tonight is a full moon, you are lucky!
Circumstances allowed a coin drop. Sorry all for the momentary disturbance.

We should be there.
10:30 kick off Makes for an early start for us out-of-towners [:(!]

Unfortunately I can't make this one due to a car club run out to the Blue Mountains.
I hoping to make it and meet other Geocachers. I'm new at this sport and would like to learn more about it.

Sorry, I will be away and unable to attend. Have a great time and I will be looking forward to the postings after the event.
I will attend the meeting. Our Auslan (Australian Sign Language) interpreter will come along with us.
Trailor (2 people) should be able to attend. Looking forward to meeting some fellow geocachers and learning some tips about geocaching.
Unfortunately I can't make it to this one. It's a pity - the information from the last meeting completely changed the way I cache. Hope it goes well.
For members who are unable to attend, the audio of the presentations will be recorded and uploaded to the Geocaching NSW website.
Also, members are reminded to vote for their choice for the 2010 geocoin. It's currently a tight race. Go to http://www.geocachingnsw.asn.au/index.php/about-geocaching-nsw/35-agaonsw/129-geocoin-2010-vote to place your vote.

The presentations have been confirmed.
EcoDave from EcoTeam will take us back to the early days of geocaching - a time when 'Mega' caches were the rage. These caches were months in the planing, full of hype, mystery and suspense. You'll hear about the famous Get Smart interactive cache story, Achilles and one or two of the major caches that were firsts in their genre.
Following Dave's presentation, Paul Bakker, distributor of RAM Mounts in Australia, will discuss how to safely mount your GPSr safely in your car. He will also bring along the newly released Lowrance Endura range of GPS receivers.

Unfortunately Mrs Shifter has a Girl Guide camp on that weekend, and Mr Shifter will be madly packing the camper trailer and car for our trip to Cameron Corner and beyond (leaving the next day), otherwise we would be there as usual.
Sorry we can't attend this one - sounds like it would be a good one to be at.

Argh not another miss Work annoys me sometimes! I leave early that morning to head North. Drat, was very much hoping to attend. You I have saturday morning free haha!
We would have been there but I just realised we have something else booked in already - sorry but we'll have to miss this one unfortunately - a new gizmo in the rags4x4 house has me wanting to ask many questions.......iPhone geocaching anyone?????? Oh well maybe next time

Would like to finally meet some of you in person, but will almost certainly be in the Blue Mountains on this day. Hope the meeting is a good one!
Part of team casho will be attending this event while the other members stay home to attend another local event as we would not make it back in time for the whole team to do both.
