I have decided to archive this one. It is damaged again (I'm not sure how this one keeps getting damaged). Unfortunately, this cache has also been "dropped" a number of times, which was less than helpful. For those who tried to find this one and couldn't, it originally was a small waterproof, lockable container which was hanging inside the triangular park sign. Several times I have been out to grab the cache after it had been dropped inside the sign. It seems now that it is damaged and people have hurt themselves trying to get to it. So it's time to call it a day.

I found this cache but came away with a laceration to my arm that bled for quite some time. The container is quite deep in its hiding spot and it takes quite an effort to retrieve it. This effort and the sharpness of the surrounds is what caused my injury. Like KRS and others have indicated, the log is just a sodden mess! If you read past logs, this cache has been in need of attention for quite some time. Perhaps this one is destined to be archived?

20-Nov-13
This cache is in urgent need of maintenance by the CO. Past logs will tell you what's required!

18/11/13. 5:51 PM. Cache #1072. Came back here after work for another look after getting a good tip. It was thankfully a break in the rain. The cache was where I'd suspected - close to where I'd been searching all along but more out of reach than I'd known. As other have said, the broken cache lets all the rain in, and boy has there been plenty! So the log was a pulpy mess. I added a new, second bag with fresh dry bits of paper, one of which I signed, but I think this new bag fell out of the cache as I was returning it. Glad to get this one from the home and work 10kms. Also my home 5kms knocked down to just Vimiera & Happily Ever After. Getting there! Be great to get a confirmation if GNW3 is still around. TFTC }:)

I was there today and couldn't find it.Sad(

Cache is broken needs urgent repair please.

6/10/13. 8:41 AM. Not a great start to the day. Sure I've found the GCA Grumpy, but after that was 2 DNFs at Sticks & Stones and here. I think this is about my third trip here. Past logs from others have me convinced that i need to be looking up. I've tried the pole, not so much the tree, and still empty handed. I feel very self-conscious looking here this close to the house. A quick search given the closeness to the house would be what I need.

Found on second attempt with help from JordsAU while dropping him home from seeing the Xfavtor live tonight. Thanks to a good friend for the tickets. Upon arriving Jords looked at gz only to say its missing after a quick shake cache appeared although needs a lot of love the container is missing its lid and has no way of attaching its self again to hiding spot. Needs some love.

Tftc.

Alrighty! Glad to have AM along as this one was a two person mission...it would have been trickier to find solo. Picture helped us know the cache container we were looking for. Another day of caching in the 31 Days challenge. DNSL as it was complete mush inside the plastic bag so took pic instead. TFTC

13-Aug-13
The log is soaked and just pulp in the zip lock bag

13-Aug-13
Found whilst out with CJ whilst doing the 31 days of August challenge.

We've been wanting to get over here to do the nearby caches The description and clue were excellent. No muggles around around in the rain today. We made the find using some good caching logic and we both soon had the cache in hand. Only downside was that the cache was completely soaked to mushy pulp that cannot possibly be signed. I will log a maintenance request. We did take a pic if needed.

Anyway, it was a nice balmy evening to go out for caches. It was a nice location to do a walk around the area. Thanks s_mon for another cool container and clever hide. This one has been ticked off. SL TNLN TFTC

Soaked Log. I literally signed... wherever there was space.

Need replacing or drying.

But TFTC SL.

09-Aug-13
Day 9 of 31 Days of Geocaching. In the area training today and decided to have a look at this one. Like so many logs before me I too couldn't sign the log as it was sodden and container broken. So took a photo as proof (which I can send if you like) and replaced. TFTC.

28-Jul-13
Missed it on the first pass and was scratching my head for a while.

19-Jul-13
After reading JackScruff's log, I figured I'd know where this cache was.
Nope. After a little bit of gymanstics, I had the cache in hand and discovered that the cache container seal hadn't sealed and the log was absolutely soaked.
This cache really needs both a new container and a new log.
Thanks for the cache anyway s_mon, I'll be looking up the other Great North Walk caches soon Smile

15-Jun-13
Although I am pretty sure I located the correct GZ, unfortunately I was not able to extract the cache today for a number of reasons:
- Saturday arvo sport was in full swing at the nearby oval so the muggle traffic was very very high
- I did not have the right equipment at hand
I'll be back another time and will hopefully have more success.

22-May-13
Easily spotted the likely hide as I approached GZ and knew that as usual I wouldn't be able to reach it. So back to the car to collect geocaching aid number 1 (these days I travel with something bizarre in the boot for just these locations). Luckily no muggles around to see me so soon had CIH and signed the paper left by sedgwickDave returned cache and escaped just before the rain. TFTC

Found @1102 #2806
Exploring the surrounding area today, this was one of a few caches found. Took a moment to discover the cache. The log was found to be soaked thru due to the container missing a clip or too. Left some note paper which was signed. TFTC s_mon

Found as a last resort haha. Nothing in car to continue the save the cache effort. Good hide though tftc

The Great Scouts Australia Geocaching Competition #55
Nice easy find after the Anzac service at North Ryde RSL

06-Apr-13
Easy find. Found log book saturated and cache full of water. In need of a new container

19-Mar-13
The log is totally soaked through, probably because the container does not seal well and is poorly held together by a thin strand of elastic. It is impossible to separate the log pages in its current state. I don't think it can be restored and probably needs replacing.

19-Mar-13
I dropped by to pick up this one on the way home after finding a nice multi in the nearby Field of Mars Reserve. This is an interesting variation on a hide which is becoming fairly common in these parts. It had me stumped for a while until I took a drastic step to spot and extract the cache. The log is totally soaked though I was able sign it with the pen I had. The container does not seal well and is poorly held together by a thin strand of elastic. I took the TB to remove it from the damp conditions. Thanks s_mon.

This hide was a variation on a cache I've seen elsewhere before. I'd been walking at least 12km at this point on a rather warm Christmas Eve and experience a bit of a headrush as I reached for the cache. Was a bit concerned when replacing the cache that it was going to be out of reach but I eventually realised what was going on and it was all back hidden again. Thanks!

06-Dec-12
We had to think tall and I could never have retrieved it without my 4yo geokiddy. On coming here I had visions of it being destroyed after hearing that the bushfire was fought from Magdala Rd on Wednesday, but there was no need to be concerned. TFTC

07-Nov-12
Failing light, but found the cache with a bit of thinking tall.

What a nice view. Great park to sit and enjoy watching some soccer. Thanks

Found it immediately. Lid needs replacement asap as the plastic bag around log is not enough, log pages are beginning to paper mache making it too difficult to write names and extremely easy to tear. Recommend new container for cache. Found with Supasmile.

08-Oct-12
Porko2003 found it and I was present. Easy spot and quickly retrieved. Thanks for the nice bushland view.
Recommendation: CO to replace container as it will not stay on, plus logbook pages beginning to stick together.

13-Aug-12
Located the cache easily enough - it was sticking out of its makeshift hide in plain sight - but as noted earlier the lid was stuck firmly well inside the hiding spot. It was really jammed in but there was no one about so I made a concerted effort to free it and was ultimately successful. Problem now was that I couldn't re-hide the cache there without causing the lid to jam again or, more likely, destroying the cache entirely. And besides the lid wouldn't attach to the cache anymore anyway.

It seemed kinda obvious to me how the cache was originally hidden - I'd seen another short-lived Ryde cache hidden the same way - so I went to my car to see what I could do. Fortunately I had some materials there that allowed me to sort of secure the lid and place the cache more or less how it would have originally been.

However this is very much just a temporary solution. The CO will need to replace the container soon. In the meantime finders need to take great care retrieving and replacing the cache. Same goes for the lid.

Thanks for the cache though, s_mon. I like this series.

11-Jul-12
Was working in the area and needed a calendar date filled. This was close so came down. Hide was spotted on approach and when retrieved, wondered if container should be as exposed or is the lid stuck in its hidey hole. Log was damp due to a ripped bag so replaced.

We were early for Geokid7's soccer match on a sunny but cold winter morning and saw this one a mere 100m away. Walking towards GZ we saw the container on approach, allowing for a very quick find. TNLNSL TFTC

Tried to nab this geocache earlier today, but a man in a ute was parked nearby. So laster today, on my return trip, I parked in front and grabbed it in a matter of seconds.

28-Jan-12
nice quick find, cache is in need of maintenance

28-Jan-12
the caches' lid is gone, and contents soaked. needs maintenance

27-Jan-12
When I saw the signs on the nearby construction zone fence, saying that access to the Great North Walk had been temporarily suspended, I was concerned that the cache too would be out of reach. It wasn't though.

The park would be a great place for kite-flying and so on.

26-Jan-12
Also, found cache and signed log. TFTC!

26-Jan-12
The original intend of the hide has been destroyed. The container itself is open, and the log book is soggy.

25-Jan-12
Unfortunately the cache is in dire need of maintenance since it is falling apart and infested with a colony of ants! Sorry for the bad news!

22-Jan-12
I'm about 6 months behind in logging my finds, so mum is making me catch up today. Sorry for how late this found log is. TFTC Smile

22-Jan-12
I hadn't even parked the car at this spot before bikerbuddy had this one in hand. It really wasn't my day for spotting caches Smile. I think I've done #1 & #5 in this series now, will have to get back to do the ones in the middle.

Thanks s_mon Smile.

22-Jan-12
The cache was easy to find since it was hanging out of its hide. But when I tried to retrieve it the latch snapped. Sorry. I managed to put it back where it was supposed to go, hidden about as well as when I found it. Thanks

14-Jan-12
Got it though log is quite damp and chain is broken more wedged in than hanging.

27-Dec-11
Thanks the cache.. chain broke.. The cache is close ground. Should be serviced! J-LEST-TEAM

Good hide s_mon! haven't seen this kind of disguise yet - then again, I haven't seen much, considering that we are on our 16th cache in total. TFTC

17-Nov-11
With workmen right at GZ, this was given the miss for the day.
It may be difficult to do this cache during working hours until their work is finished.
Cheers.

In the area for a T-Ball game. Thought I knew where it was without looking at the gps, but struck out. Tried again with the GPS and there it was in the tricky hide. Great idea. Tftc. Cheers.

Only had ten mins before getting picked up at the nearby RSL, unfortunately this wasn't enough time for me this time. TFTC

Reperio at 1300. Didn't think one would be such a drive by given the title of the cache, and after managing to park right to GZ, the sneakily hidden cache was spotted. I liked the way this one was hidden. Works well.

Geoson had a soccer game at Magdala Park, checked on the Geocache website to see if there is a cache nearby. To my surprise there is one at the park. Surprised While geoson was playing, I decided to attempt the search for the cache. Baffled as to where the cache might be hidden. there appeared not to be many hiding places for the cache. Eventually I discovered it in a well hidden and thought of spot. Logged the find and returned back to geoson’s soccer match. Smile

Liked the container, all dry inside. An easy find with the GeoKids, having previously seen a similar hide nearby. SL. Thanks for the cache.

26-Feb-11
A typical Ryde style cache, it was a good day to go here. I managed to watch a little bit of a kids' baseball game and enjoy fond memories of watch my own boys play when they were little. Oh, I feel old!

13-Feb-11
After walking from GNW#3 we arrived here and followed the gps to 0m. Not too many choices for the hiding spot so we managed to find the clever container. Thanks for the walk through here, we turned around and walked back to the car after this and very much enjoyed our morning.

13-Feb-11
Found with blossom* at the end of our walk. Well, halfway really as we then walked back to the car.
