Yep, this was most certainly torture for us today! Out in the Peninsula in the sweltering afternoon heat for a spot of caching. After a slow start with a string of DNF's, we headed to this one in the hope of a quick find. It was not to be as we searched high and low in that horrible vegetation! Found the stump but couldn't seem to locate the cache. A likely hide was spotted but there was nothing inside. We will be back another time to have another go, if the cache is still there Wink Thanks anyways, glyn! Big Grin

Seone else take this up?

28-Dec-13
There has been lots of chopping down round this area. Couldn't find. Looked for ages. Might want to check it's still there.

07-Sep-13
We almost gave up a couple of times, but eventually my geocaching buddy's persistence paid off and it was a find in the rain. Smile

07-Sep-13
We had given up and were on our way back - saw more bamboo, got distracted by it and then took another quick look from that angle. Voila! Very satisfying after the early disappointment and the time spent. TFTC

Well isn't this a lovely spot. Thanks for sharing! Took a couple of minutes to come up with the cache. Got the wrong end I think but soon spotted after a small increase in the search radius. Cheers for the cache placement!

13-Jul-13
After our picnic lunch we were back into it. Took us a little longer then it should have to find this one. Found after searching GZ with a second pair of eyes. TFTC

Found it today .....nearly gave up ...challenging with spikey bamboo poking in your face ,,,but read Helefant's log carefully , widened the search , and there it was !Thanks too for fresh bag and log !

22-Jun-13
Couldn't find quickly in the rain so left it for now..

22-Jun-13
Lots of rain.. and not really obvious, so we flagged it for another day.

05-Jun-13
Just before reaching cache, Three 30 something guys came down the track - all wearing Union Jack T-shirts, looked a bit odd (all 3 of them the same), but who am I to say what odd, with some of the things I've done in the name of geocaching.
Searched for a bit where GPSr was indicating and what fitted the hint, no luck. Really beginning to feel that this wasn't my day - this would be my 3rd DNF. Just before giving up, I widened my search area and came across something else that fitted the hint, and thankfully found the cache.
Put in fresh log sheet, with bag. TFTC

03-Jun-13
Quick and easy find, great spot for a cache, lovely view, had some picnic goers near our find although they were not at all in our way of finding this one

Had to be quick here as some muggles had decided to stop at the picnic table at the bottom of the stairs. Luckily I found it quickly.

05-May-13
Great wee hide here. Lovely views. Thought it was going to be torture as raining really heavy and not wanting to get any wetter I sat it out. Nearly drove of then wow a break. Run to gz,signed and replaced between showers. Smile.things we do for a smilie.

27-Apr-13
We were out and about working on a multi cache and stopped in the area so I thought I'd look for a cache while I was here. Had to wait a bit as there were a few muggles about, including a photographer who lingered but eventually was able to retrieve the cache. TFTC

09-Feb-13
4.10pm. I searched, Mrs JF on lookout duty. Clue took away much of the challenge though I still looked in several places before I located it. The plastic bag is ripped. No problem while this gorgeous hot dry summer prevails but after that could need a replacement. This was, I think, our 1800th cache find !!!!!!

This was my second attempt at the cache. Having decided to return after noticing that the cache had been replaced and that there had been some recent finds. Fortunately this time, this was a quick and easy. I'm glad to have finally found this one. TFTC.

15-Nov-12
Spent the morning busy as, but then had about 2 hours to kill before the gym, so decided to wipe out as much of Te Atatu Peninsula as I could that was still on my unfound list. Well, what better way to spend an arvo?! Smile

Continuing along the walkway, I then went for this one. Was starting to get cold, and covered in bugs! Seriosuly! I managed to kill about 4 bugs on my legs at this cache!

Cache was quickly spotted in the first place I looked, as while waslking over from the last one, I had a chance to have already read the hint. And the ground was covered in ants too as I was signing the log... but meh, sat down anyways!

Muggle with his dog passed me by here, so had to wait till he passed till I returned the cache.

TFTC!! Smile

27-Oct-12
Spent a sunny afternoon finding a few caches on the Te Atatu Peninsula. What a lovely area. Managed to find quite easily although my heart sank when I saw the bamboo and the cache was not immediately visible. Seem to remember another Glyn bamboo hide which required a second visit. TFTC.

22-Oct-12
Definitely needed the clue for this hide, but quickly found with the extra hints. Nice view from the corner!

06-Oct-12
No problems finding this one on Saturday evening. It was sitting in the "open" on the log behind the leaves so I gave it a little more cover just for safety's sake. This is a nice little spot to stop and and enjoy the evening for a minute. TFTC!

01-Oct-12
I wasn't tortured by this one, ran up to it, lovely view

01-Oct-12
A nice find with a great view. Cleverly hidden but after thinking like a cacher we came up with the goods. Thank you for bringing us out to this beautiful area.

12-Aug-12
Great spot, used this as the last coastal spot then headed inland to get some caches before finding the cache mobile again. Nice view, can see my place across the river!

11-Aug-12
nice quick easy find to keep the numbers tickin over cool view no mugglers about till i had finished signing then some dogs turned up draging there owners

05-Aug-12
all ok

05-Aug-12
Cache had fallen out of its hiding hole, replaced all good

21-Apr-12
Something made me check this one before I went there and I saw the DNF logs, and a quick check online confirmed it was disabled, but I stopped by to check out the lay of the land, so to speak. The hint is very specific, so yeah, it does look like the cache is gone.

13-Feb-12
Had a good look, bamboo looks recently chopped back and tiny pieces of newspaper all over the place but couldn't find it.

12-Feb-12
to many "niggers in the woodpile" couldnt find it, better check it out -;)

28-Jan-12
No joy here.

28-Jan-12
Unable to find

15-Jan-12
Unfortunately this one eluded me as well. I suspect that either the bamboo has overgrown the GZ or it’s been muggled. Will try again another day.

06-Jan-12
Good clear hint led us directly to the obvious hide, but no cache located. Wider search undertaken but again no luck today.

24-Dec-11
Too hot and tortuous and buggy for mee today. thanks

16-Nov-11
Beautiful vista, gorgeous little area. Fun find, well camo'ed.

13-Nov-11
NIce spot for great views. Found with Mporokosa and Rottie2007. TFTC

13-Nov-11
Yes, it was torture for some, but we endured the pain. Great views and so well worth the effort, as always.

02-Nov-11
May be tourture for some, a resource for others, to me, a great place for a little lunchtime find, TFTC

16-Oct-11
I was here once before and failed badly, today, one look and bingo.

14-Oct-11
Eigth of thirteen finds today whilst out driving and walking around the west Auckland area.

Parked nearby and walk to GZ. The cache was quickly located thanks to the hint and I then took advantage of the view.

27-Sep-11
We are on our second caching holiday in New Zealand, and today was to break our record of most caches found in a day – 35 found today! This was a nice quick find with the help of the hint. It was only afterwards that we put two and two together and worked out why the cache had been named as it was! We wished the tide had been in as this place isn’t so inviting at low tide. TNLNSL TFTC

14-May-11
Too short to be torture, but a tricky find all the same. TFTC.

14-May-11
Well placed! My digits didn't detect it. T4TC - M@

14-May-11
One could argue there are various forms of torture that could exist at GZ - I can think of at least three Wink Cheers Gav [8157]

08-May-11
Nice to meet fuzzynz on the path. Think we found the old cache with their help.
TFTC

08-May-11
Hmm, found the "current" one, but couldnt find the original. will update the hints I think so its not so tortuous.

08-May-11
Looks like we found the old one. It nearly had us bamboozled and/or stumped but we got it. Whilst there another caching couple starting looking until we helped them along by handing it to them Smile. Another great Glyn hide.

07-May-11
Hmmph, old cache, new cache, didn't matter we couldn't locate either. Hopeless. Lovely spot and enjoyed the views again and will no doubt enjoy it all again another day.

06-May-11
Sorry couldn't find replacement, but original cache is still there. Steel spike, wooden holder, outer with cache lid secured. Cache is in good condition and logsheet dry. SL TFTC

03-Apr-11
I remember the original one that was here. That's the trouble when one has been caching for quite a while, one revisits some great spots.

Cheers for the cache.

03-Apr-11
Hate to DNF Glyn hides - usually means I'm not thinking laterally enough... this time however after a couple of minutes of Lil Miss PNZ and I poking around the bamboo, the heavens opened and rained stopped play. I'll be back to find this one though soon!

I've been tortured enough to last a lifetime by hides in this stuff. Glad this one was a bit friendlier but still well disguised. TFTC

26-Mar-11
6618 Not too torturous today... quick find during a gap in the passing drizzle. TFTC.

23-Mar-11
Thanks for the cache, I didn't find it straight away, but came back for a second go, and there it was.
