WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 33 - Wagin to Konjonup via Woodanilling and Katanning. A fairly short day today, but caching was slowed by intermittent rain showers. I still managed enough caching to meet my aims for the day and even stopped for a break at Woodanilling, although there was not much there. Woodanilling is a council office town, but it is the smallest town I have seen for a council town so far, even smaller than Wickepin. I could have taken a dirt shortcut, but instead went around to Konjonup via Katanning and a big store for a small shop. I need not have bought hat six dollar loaf of bread yesterday. I had a whole afternoon in Konjonup and not much to do. When the lunch time rain shower passed I walked a lap of town and the sports field and retired for the day.I am always keen to visit a cemetery. No challenging multi to do here today, but at least I was able to find this one. Thanks for the cache ~Tango~47172.6 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2010 Micro Cap A#166**Albida**
Popped out to the area to clean up some new LGAs over a 3 day heist! Happy to see theres a lot to keep me busy for a few days. Quick find on my way to Katanning. Ziploc bag and log were damp, log still usable but replaced ziploc for future.Maybe a hint that it's not at ground level?Thankyou tangowithcupcake for placing and maintaining Mourning Woody for us and others to find and enjoy
Out and about again, nice early start and didn’t want to get out of the warm bed. Covered a lot of km as haven’t been to some areas ever, and some not in a very long time. Cleaned up a fair few today after getting back not long before the Caching event.
Found a variety of hides and in different areas which made for a nice day. Generally quick finds today
Thanks to all the CO’s for the hides I found.

Out with B12 and C10 on a trip down to Kojonup, Katanning and Wagin for FTFs. Left Perth at 4am to make sure we had success in our mission.
Parked and grabbed here. Discovered a trackable too. Cheers ~Tango~!

Today the geocaching mission for TaurusSix and myself was to leave Bunbury very very early and head to the Kojonup and Katanning areas to try and obtains FTF’s for the many new caches that had come out yesterday. We had noticed them on Friday evening so decided to change our plans for Saturday and give them a go. As we were nearing Kojonup we still thought we were in luck as they had not been logged and the red FTF was still showing on the app. Expectatantly at gz we jumped out of the car only to find the first one had been found already. We must of only been a few minutes behind. As we refreshed the app we could see another cachers was heading from the opposite direction claiming the FTF.
Never mind though and well done to all the cachers who got there first.
It was still a great day for us , the drive was really pleasant and the sun rise was quite spectacular. Thanks Boyzrule5 for placing all these new caches and the interesting history lessons about the series.
This is our twentieth cache find of the day. Certainly would not have come along this road if it was not for the cache, which is one of the beauties of geocaching. A nice size cache in a good location. TFTC

Heading to Katanning for an overnight caching trip we took the slight detour to hunt for this one. We arrived at gz and we started our search as I had a chuckle at the play on words. The GPS sent us one way but we quickly expanded our search and Leega found tucked away a little away from where the GPS said. We signed your log and returned your cache to where we found it. TFTC tangowithcupcake.
Taking a quick caching trip into the Great Southern to stay overnight with axell33 in Katanning.
Taking some back roads to get some “off the beaten track” caches we wandered up the beautiful avenue of trees to gz. It looks like a lovely resting place. And we found your cache resting and in good health! Thanks for bringing us here with your cache tangowithcupcackes.

For the number of times I have passed, it’s surprising I didn’t know this was here; a quick park and grab, all in good order TFTC
One of our targets for this trip to Western Australia was to attempt some challenges, in particular The Great Southern Challenge, The Great Southern Challenge II and The Regional Cacher Challenge III. Today we focussed on visiting as many LGAs as we could in a day and to find at least once cache in each of them. We were fortunate to visit 7 LGAs and find more than one cache in each of them.
Accurate coordinates led to a quick find although taking the top off the cache container was quite demanding. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks tangowithcupcake for the cache.

TFTC SL peaceful area except for the mossies. Found while exploring around Katanning. Thanks for bringing us here.
The note in it suggests a worker found it recently and may have moved it.
It may not be quite where the owner intended but is still easy to find.

Out with ICNothing and Kapelula on day two of our weekend picking up some country... easy drive through here. Thank you to the COs for placing these caches!
Using Narrogin as a base, my young geocaching buddy and I spent a lovely few days exploring the wheatbelt and all the beautiful friendly little towns along the way. Driving through Woodanilling, we stopped in here to make a nice easy find, which we spotted as we drove up. As the previous cacher mentioned, the trees have all had a good prune, but the cache was nicely left where it belongs. Bit difficult to put it further out of view, however, if its survived this long it should be ok. Thanks Tango for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.
Staying in Narrogin for a few days with Gma allinaday. We had a lot of fun exploring the area and all the other little towns along the way. We found some nice historical sites where I learnt a bit about how life was a hundred odd years ago. We explored old buildings and enjoyed some long walks around lakes where I learnt a lot about salinity and what is being done to help reduce the salt on the land so more trees don't die. Thank you to all the cache owners for putting caches out for us to find.
Nice big cache. In full view and the tree has been recently trimmed. Homiest folk have left it alone so we put back as found. Thanks.
The start of a road trip to Denmark to hit roymerc caches and get a few different LGAs with Probsty.
Solid cache. GZ had been modified with branch trimming and soil scraping but cache was all good.

Thank you! I headed out on a super large day trip to find some caches I've had my eye on, due to their age or LGA, or because they contained clues for other caches. I left before dawn and was home after sunset, but saw so much of the countryside. Happy to make the find here.
Touring from Tasmania and and stopped here to grab cache after viewing the 300 year old SalmonGum. Tftc
Very precise instructions led to the find but the coords are good too! TFTC tangowithcupcake
Touring the Great Southern using Geocachiing as our guide.
We headed out today from Kojonup and did a massive loop of some 420km. We saw some great historic locations, old schools, old halls, so much information shared with us today through Geocaching. We often say WA doesnt have the history of other States but boy you did us proud today.

Easy find whilst in the way to Katanning for work. Logbook a little damp and need to bring a pen to sign the log TFTC
This was our first Geocache adventure and we are hooked! Great clues! The last clue is essential to finding the cache.
Day 260 of our 366 day straight challenge. Homebound from a week in Albany and the Stirling Ranges with ChrisRG.
Another stop to check off another LGA. Nice quick find thanks to the description. Miss 5 swapped a blue shell she collected from the cache up Bluff Knoll. Signed the log and replaced as found. Tftc

Today was another day of taking a meander through wheat growing territory with ilook4geo. We are aiming to pick up various LGAs where we have not cached before and are just selecting two or three to represent each different LGA.
There was no problem in finding this good size cache. The contents were all dry and in good condition. Thanks go to tangowithcupcake for adding this cache to the game.

Last for the day as we head south to the free camp spot at Katanning.
This one was very quickly found but boy did we have some trouble opening it.
A great container but the contents were damp and very mouldy smelling.
Thanks.

Hi there ~Tango~ - we left Katanning today headed first for Narrogin and then home to Armadale. This cache was both a quick find and a welcome break from driving, and the container and log are both in good condition. Thanks to ~Tango~ for this cache - our find #5769.

My 6 yr old daughter loved finding this as its her first ever find before her big brother beat her to it.
** This is a late log **
The caches I am now logging are from a day out caching with Mrs Jackylegs44. We couldn't decide which way to head, so eventually hatched a plan to do a bit of loop, seeing how far we got, aiming to pick up a few LGA's for their team along the way. All up I think we covered about 550km today, enjoying the scenery out the back of whoop whoop and collecting a small swag of smileys.
Since then, many more caches have been found and shared geocaching adventures have been enjoyed too, so it is about time that I got down to work on all those outstanding logs, albeit somewhat late.
I appreciate all the effort each of the cache owners has gone through to create and place each and every hide and I do not for one second take it for granted, I just need to get caught up so I can return to my usual style of individualized logs.
No problems finding the cache though was a bit trickier trying to sign the log before the mozzies drained us both dry. Thanks for the smiley `~Tango~
PS Liked the play on words - clever, though not what I was thinking obviously.

Decided to get muggle to take me on a overnight georoad trip from Bunbury to Wagin via Boyup Brook, Kojonup and Woodanilling and a few little caching destinations along the way
So far with caching there have only been a few cemeteries that I've been to that I don't have relatives at and this is one of them, well I haven't found any here yet but the family tree is never ending
My cousin said he worked at the pub in Woody way back in 1951's when he was in his mid teens
I managed to get this one with the help of an aid but had to get muggle to put it back. No hope in hell that I could do it
got my only injury for the road trip here, darn branches tho lucky not to be attacked more by March flies and mozzies, yep killed more than a few
TFTC
Inside the cache is wet and log slighly damp but could still write name. Sorry it was 4pm when we got here and still had to head to Wagin and cache there while it's still light
