This was supposed to be a family trip to Hanmer weekend but some are sick and some tired. So, what does that mean ??? Yes, a caching weekend to myself, again. I had a target of dead ones and the odd live one to mix it up.Another dead one dug up. I was now on my way home and missed the entrance, so a turnaround at the junction down the road and back here. Lots of dead trees to navigate past but got there thanks to perfect hint. GPS about 4 - 8 metres at GZ. Container was pristine too, along with logbook. I should call this one "my rock "
A few months ago we ran into a cacher in Blenheim and we were introduced to project-gc statistic for archived caches. So since then we have spent quite some time researching and looking for archived caches.
I identified this as a possible cache that is still in place and added it to my phone so when we were in the area again we could have a look for it.
Tonight we were camping near Lake Rotoiti when a ftf became available nearby. So once we had found that we decided to come and look for this one.
We were using torches as it was dark by the time we were here and once we identified the hint item it was only a few seconds before GK found the cache.
We were interested in the story behind Pauls Rock so I will read through the previous logs to see if anyone has any more information about it.
Thanks for placing this cache and thanks for one more cache to add to our archived collection

A very nice spot and one of the top half dozen or so caches out of the many that I found today. It is such a pity when people can't help but trash areas such as this(or anywhere for that matter). However that said, I didn't notice anything too bad while I was in the area. I had loaded up the gps on Friday before leaving Wellington and this was one of 6 caches that I found today which had been archived in the interim. Thanks for bringing me here as I have always just driven by in the past. TFTC - 12 of 75
Took a side track and wandered longer than need be before finding the prize with Old Boots. TFTC
I'm in two minds about archiving this one because of the human waste that people place near the cache site. If you approach from the road it is less of a problem, but then you also miss the river. I will leave it up to you - let me know if you feel it should be archived.
First find on our trip south. Nice spot with a great little rapid. We also wonder how you first found the sign. Thanks
An easy find with Kwaka40, out on a motorbike ride in the gorgeous weather. TFTC
At first tried the wrong corner of the rock and then the wrong rock which just revealed the disgusting toilet paper some "tourists" leave behind. But soon found the cache in the obvious place (no toilet paper here!) An interesting place that I would have otherwise just cycled past. TFTC.
Very impressive for sure. Had to be very careful looking for this one, the immediate area seems to be a bit of a toilet stop.

Crikey, Paul was doing well to lose a rock this big! Very nice to visit the river here, such a shame to see so many people think the bush is a toilet. TFTC, unusual POI

On my trip around the world I first visited the States, travelled from there to Australia and continued my trip in New Zealand.
Terra Fox joined me and we made a four-week-tour in NZ driving from north to the south and back again.
Geocaching can take you to spots you would never visit and so I used my trip to find some caches in every state and country.
Thank you for this cache and greetings from Germany

Nice spot, and near Paul's Rock a lady was skinny dipping in the river. Despite this distraction, I found the cache.SLTN, but left an eraser and a Travel Bug called Nanango LSTH50. TFTC
During our 4 weeks holiday in the southern island of NZ we did not only find an exiting countryside and wildlife. The many caches brought us sometimes to places we didnĀ“t expect or planned to go to.
Thank you very much for this. Greetings from Germany.

Drove down the fishermans track to access this one, so we enjoyed the views of the river too.

That's one impressive rock! Took a little bit to find, by torchlight, but we got there. Left a pet rock - a seal. TFTC
Found with the aid of several hitchhikers I had picked up, one of whom had found a number of geocaches in Europe, I think. Cheers.
Big rock. The cache was quickly found and logged. Found on our way towards Motueka.

great boulders but what always amazes me is how you manage to find these places. TFTC #1769
Went along the side road first, and found several popular toilet spots..... but got a bit confused. Cache still 20m away. Lots of wasps too. Retreated back to main road, parked and found the cache easily. Impressive naming sign!
We left our campervan by the main road... To avoid the possibility of having to reverse out of the narrow access track! Then a pleasant walk in.
Nice One!!!!!! Must give all the credit to Paul for finding this one. When we think of a "rock", this sure has to be an impressive one. Great spot for a cache site. Well done. Thanks
We were looking for quickies en route from Greymouth to Nelson, but this turned out to be a few hundred metre walk as our 2 wheel drive chauffeur (me) baulked at the huge pot holes in the access road. We had to do this one though, as StreetWalker is AKA Paul. He found it too, while all I found were the discards of anglers' revelries.

#1626 (13/15 Greymouth -> Nelson). We were needing to press on, but had to stop for such an honestly named cache! Nice sign too. TFTC.
1515hrs Well you just can't go wrong at 'Pauls Rock' now can you. DO: 'THEJAYBEES HEI MATAU' (D79AP0) The Italian Job was here......! Our blog www.motorhominginxs.blogspot.com
A nice cache tucked away out of site was thinking where abouts here then saw a great locator TFTC
We had the whole day not to have to hurry so when this popped not far past the turn off we decided a little detour wouldnt go astray What a great little drive round behind the rock !!! Stretch0 grabbed the coin but put everything back in place before I could get a swap out thanks for the cache
What should one do without friends like this? Nice with a little sense of humour, and nice boulders as well. Logged with tobias.josefsson during our honeymoon. TFTC!
Still dark when we got to this spot this morning. Stumbled around the rock for a bit before blundering upon the cache. Nice one, TFTC, Biggles.
Stumbled about for a while before finally spotting Paul's Rock - funny how you don't see things you just aren't expecting - I had walked within metres of it a few seconds earlier. Thanks for placing this one for me, what would I do without these reasons to stop, I decided to save the other one for another day no point wasting them in one visit. TFTC
a week end at school, bum needed a night away before being grounded at home base for rest of week. Quick obligatory look at the cache map page, quick send to gps and off !! GPS cover good enough to leed me straight to it. Good cache,
