What a gorgeous little park. Loved the ducks and the scenery. Given all the favourite points, I was expecting something incredible, and definitely didnt disappoint. This was very well done
Quick find here. Just the way we like it. Love your work.Cleaning up Victoria with gridge98. We are on a mission this week. Completing twenty finds in Mexican local government areas is the challenge. Another find with the correct criteria. It is in Victoria and we have not accumalated twenty finds in this local government area.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is Tew's day the fifteenth day of the octavus month of the Roman calendar in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was a bit windy today. It was so windy today. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. We do apologise for the generic logs. Thanks to all the cache owner for placing this cache here for our enjoyment. Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke fr den Cache. Gracias por el cach. Had to come and do this as it was close to our accommodation , a nice walk in and a quick find was had once at GZ, a very well made cache and a fav from us hereTravelling around Victoria with Freddo for a week finding caches as we go. With two challenges on our radar we were in full force. All logs signed with our names or F+g98 for the smaller caches. Thanks for the cache
Yeah, that's pretty well done! I saw it immediately and thought, that's odd, but it took my 9 year old to actually realise that was the target. I'm just getting slow I guess.Nicely done.
Wow wow wow what an incredible cache, this is the greatest camouflaged cache we have ever found. Thank you GJmelb for placing this.
SkippingGirl11 and I were out and about finding some caches while trying to recover from our respective lurgies.SkippingGirl11 is a newbie, so I took her to hides that I knew would be very cool. When you see that many FPs with a cache, you know it will be a cool cache to find, and we were not disappointed. As practice, we looked at all the obvious spots before focusing on the less obvious ones.I spotted the hide and then made a few suggestions, and SkippingGirl11 soon had the cache in hand.It is a clever hide and well worth the favourite points it has gained, and there will be another to the hoard from us.Thank you, GJMMelb, for this Traditional cache.
Well camoflauged, had a good chuckled when I found it. Didn't know if there was something else to do to find the log and swaps, but they are not with the rest of the cache
Were visiting from South Gippsland and had a day free for Geocaching - bliss! We set our filter to min 50 favourite points and off we set. Super cool hide and beautifully constructed cache! Well worthy of another fave point. Thanks for placing this creative hide
A very clever hide. I spotted it from the pathway and went in for the quick grab. Such a lovely little park. Thank you for bringing me here. TFTC W074
Cache repaired and contents replaced. Good to go Thanks to Riotgirlckb and SupermanSez for alerting us to the issue
Found the camo on the ground, no log book, we have replaced the camo where it seems ita orginal hide was
Nice and quick park and grab the only thing is its been muggled with no logbook insight.. found it in pieces, put it back where it's meant to be tftc
The cache wasn't where it was supposed to be, which made it easier. We replaced it back. Great camo, TFTC!
After smashing a PB at a local Park Run, I came here to enjoy some high-fav caches. I loved the hide, and the area is fantastic. As an oasis among the old brick homes, it is incredible. Thanks for placing this one here. The cache is all good, and the log brook is dry.
On my way to visit mum late this arvo I decided to detour a couple of kms and swing by here first for a look. I've been meaning to come here almost since I started caching back on 2013, partially based on the fave points even then, and partially on the description, but am so glad I finally made the time today. (Mum's health situ isn't great at the moment, so the idea of a little serenity beforehand was very attractive.)I also went with the proscribed parking spot suggestion - something I rarely do with caches, as I generally seem to find a better spot myself - but was very glad I did, to get the "full Unexpected experience" (even though I know it was going to be a dam, of course - haha!).Being about 33 C still in the late afternoon the sight of the small but attractive dam amongst the trees was very appealing, especially with the lush dark green waterplants growing in it, and some very lazy black ducks sitting almost in my path as I made my way around were another nice bonus. I also admit to being very jealous of the various properties backing onto this park - some fantastic "borrowed landscape" right there for free... And extra-jealous of the sounds of splashing coming from swimming pools in at least two of those properties... So onward I went, reaching GZ and initially looking in what seemed to be the most obvious natural hide possibility, but coming up empty and then almost laughing out loud at my cache-blindness in missing the actual hide - wow, extremely well constructed and camouflaged! With the heat keeping away any potential passers-by I retrieved the log book and signed it, before putting all back as it was found. Thanks so much for bringing me to this glorious little outer-suburban oasis, GJMMelb - definitely worth a fave point (though I'd give two if it were possible - one for the hide and the other for the location!).
It may have been the route I used to approach GZ because I spotted the cache straight away despite it's excellent camouflage. A very well constructed cache and you don't see many this size in the suburbs. Now to enjoy the reserve and it's bird life. Thanks for bringing us here and TFTC.
bunadoorian and I were in the general area finding a few caches with large number of favourite points. This was our 3rd find today. How unexpected was this cache and this little park !! Unexpected in design and size. TFTC and for bringing us here GJMMelb.
Walked into the park from the east side as per the description instructions, which did make it a more well-rounded park experience! Great cache camo, have seen some similar ones but none of this decent size. To make it an even better experience we found a cute tiled coffee table out for hard rubbish pickup which we ended up lugging home with us for our back verandah as a drinks table All round a great afternoon! TFTC - a favourite point from us!
On our way to weekend accommodation in north Melbourne, we focused to high FP caches on the way. TFTC!
Couple of Finnish vanlifers traveling around this beautiful Australia with Matilda the campervan. Stopping here and there to enjoy life without any plans. After getting everything set up and visiting some friends, Mntti1 and I began our travels few weeks ago. This one caught our attention with high favo points so we parked our van in marked spot and found a cache with nice camo. Thanks for the cache and favo point!
With the whole team here and seeing how many hearts it had we had to stop and have a look. Very unexpected! TFTC!
Returned today after not finding yesterday and found it straight away haha. Signed the log. Has x2 trackable a still inside.
Cache found during the night with dalerious .
Yes, you can see why this cache has ao many favourites and visitors. A must visit not only to witness the ingenious cache, but also to build your stats.
Thank you GJMMelb. Favourite given.
We had two things on our mind for this weekend, Gold and Cachemas caches.
Firstly, we were off to Warrandyte searching for Au, and I am so excited to say that we walked the entire park, and we signed all but one of the series. We even added a couple of other caches that were positioned around the area that we were hiking.
My knee has issues but I am built of sturdy stuff and made the entire walk from begging to end in the one day .
That was the Saturday. On the Sunday we concentrated on the Cachemas caches, picking off the ones that were in the vicinity of where we were staying. One ahomburg challenge cache was situated in an area that required quite a steep ascent.
We enjoyed a very successful weekend of caching, and thank all the CO's that have been busy placing out so many caches for us to find. There were some truly remarkable caches placed out .

Well that was unexpected.
Today catnap777 and I spent the day chasing Gunk's Gold by walking the entire Gold Geoart series in Warrandyte State Park in one day.
Mission accomplished on dusk, so as we made our way to our overnight accomodation, we decided to have a go at a couple of other wishlist caches....... including this one.
We were both so glad we did, as this one certainly deserves all the love it gets. So simple, so effective. It looks great at night time too.
TFTC GJMMelb. Fav added.

What a neat cache! It did take me a moment, but I had it in hand soon enough. I'm so excited by all of the neat Australian caches I have found so far. Lots of inspiration for future caches. Thanks so much for being a part of my journey.
TwoEms spotted the Unexpected quicker than we had expected. It was a beautiful illusion that tested our progress, and we held it up triumphantly to mark our one hundredth cache find.
Two-hundred days ago, we had no idea what geocaching was, or that we would one day—today—find ourselves in a shadowy park, cleaning up purple ink from an octopus stamp that had leaked all over the swaps bag. It would have been strange to have foreseen this back then, and even now it still comes to us as a surprise.
After we shoved indigo stained tissues into our pockets, replaced the leaky item and put everything else back inside, we decided it was time to add another layer to our adventure by collecting a travel bug for the very first time.
The ‘why’ is so conveniently irrelevant when playing with fortuities.
We sat near the big pond staring at the water lillies; our imagination expecting to see a frog, or two, or three croaking and leaping about. And right there is where we saw what the Unexpected does—blend a little more magic into that reflected world we live in.
Thank you for the cache.

To expect the unexpected, is that expecting?
I expect it was unexpected to expect that I would find this geocache on the way to the nearby Makers Magic event; as I am not a morning person. Instead I should expect to drive by the unexpected and expect to visit the unexpected another time; which was the case.
I expect the owner of the unexpected, would expect geocachers to read the description and park at the expected coordinates of the unexpected cache. It was unexpected that I did not, however I wanted to have the expected experience and walked around to the tranquil little dam. It was unexpected to encounter ducks resting in the mottled sunshine and birds chirping away and I had the lovely expected experience.
With so many favourite points, I expected to find an amazing unexpected geocache and my expectations of the unexpected geocache were exceeded.
Thanks GJMMelb for exceeding my expected expectations of the unexpected cache, with this lovely location and beautiful construction.

With this month's challenge based on favorites, this one was impossible to pass by.
A chill, misty morning saw me here just on daylight.
A perusal of the area at GZ revealed a brilliantly conceived & constructed hide. Unfortunately the previous finder had not quite replaced it correctly, so the illusion was not as complete as it should have been.
After signing the log and admiring the hide, I ensured it was replaced properly for the enjoyment of the next finder.
After wondering beforehand if the number of favorites this cache has could possibly be justified, I am unable to not award one myself.

This was a rather unexpected little park. We loved the dam with the water lilies. A nicely camouflaged cache too. Thank you GJMMelb for placing and maintaining Unexpected for us to find today.

Loved this find!
We ventured out into the freezing cold night, braving the potential rain and the very real chill that gets down to your bones.
We did a lap of this park, which I realised I've been to both ends but hasn't connected them in my brain haha!
It's such a lovely spot and shows what can happen when you save little patches of green.
The cache itself was proving a little tricky under the light of our phone torches. It didn't help that my phone gps was bouncing around. Eventually I returned to the first place I looked and all of a sudden there it was, right where I was looking earlier. What a great camo! One of the best I've seen for sure!
Thanks for a fun cache

We are going to Dunsborough, WA in June/July Holidays and I am going to do a Challenge series nearby. One of them is GC8KMZT #31 WA SFE Challenge - The Best of the Best. You need to find 10 of the caches from the group with the top 15 numbers of FPs in any one of the 1 Australian State or Territory.
I am now at 8 in Victoria, and with this, I can now at 9.
Now about the cache. I was meant to be at a local community centre doing a little course but the course did not go ahead due to numbers. I was already in the area so I though I might as well do this as it is in the Best of the Best for Victoria. I parked nearby and approached GZ as my approach was from the right direction I made a quick find. Well made cache. Thanks for the cache.

Yeah I can now see why this gets a favourite point. It is a very well constructed cache and blends in well and quite easy for a muggle to walk on by and not identify a thing! We walked up from a different direction and spotted the hide straight away. Noticed a few names in the log that we met at the Rutherglen MEGA last weekend. I was curious to see this dam, so we walked further down and greeted a few ducks. A beautiful reserve.
From WA, Burns345 and I stopped for some caches around this area.
Cache found and logged. FP here but it had fallen from its spot, so let’s hope it stays where the intended home was.

On the way home staying in Melbourne and picking up the last of the smilies. Thanks to the COs. TFTC. FP from me
Happen to be in Mitcham and found this very pretty hidden park! Opened our geocaching app and surprise, there was a treasure hidden close by. Easy find (was lying in the floor), but there was no pen to sign the log. Left this one hidden in its very clever hiding place and nabbed the TB.
Quick and easy find to start off the day, but great container!
Happy to report that the cache is in good condition and the log dry.

Unexpected in every sense! What a gorgeous park that we have not visited previously. As we wondered through I asked what are we looking for? Together we pointed “that?”!
When i was young my brother had a girlfriend who lived in this street. She was gorgeous and so was the property, i think i fell in love with both. Its nice to come here again and to find such a beautiful cache too. I grabbed a couple of trackables but another which was logged in the xache didnt seem to be there.
Work arranged itself rather nicely this week giving me a period of six days off. I spent a bit of time working out which direction i wanted to head for caching fun and decided to have another go at Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs. I then took quite a while coming up with a list of caches to target, there are just so many possibilities! I packed, had accommodation sorted, and even had a muggle caching buddy lined up to do the driving. Perfect! Too perfect... . Plans changed at the last minute and i came down to the city solo and without the accommodation option. I wasnt sure if i would keep the rest of the plan or head for the hills instead.
Well i have been here two days so far and im still here. Caching the peninsula has been fun interspersed with visits to various beaches. i have decided to persist with the plan and stay down this way for as long as i can.

Beautiful spot for a cache. Decided to do the full lap around while logging. Quick find at GZ despite the clever container. TFTC
I'm always amazed at the spots people find to hide these, and the creativity behind the caches.
You’re definitely correct, it wasn’t expected!!
But it was really well done!
Such great camo, hardly can tell from afar.
Thanks for the fun!

Found this while attending the Whittlesea mega.
Depending on the log size and who I was with this is signed as nikid1, ND1 or TQ5 (team Queensland).
Was down this way to attend a few nearby events and saw this cache with lots of FPs nearby so we had to go have a look.
As darkness was approaching we didn’t take in the entire parkland as requested but the bit we saw was lovely.
Nice quick find at GZ.

Well this was certainly an unexpected little gem. Just as we started to walk along the track we spotted a mother duck with one tiny fluffy duckling. Mrs y'stassie was about to bemoan the loss of baby ducks to feral animals, domestic animals and ratptors when a mass of fluff rushed towards the mother duck who promptly sat on them. We walked on and met the drake standing on the edge of the dam. He entered the water and swam out to the raft of water lilies, the flowers were very pretty.
We continued along the track enjoying the range of vegetation and insects until we reached the hide. We found a beautifully constructed cache container. The container and contents were in excellent.
Thanks for this cache GJMMELB. We enjoyed the story that comes with this hide. The locals certainly value this park and keep a good watch over it. Its caches like this that make geocaching so addictive

Decided to stop here because of all the FP! We can see why it has so many! Clearly a lot of work has gone into this hide! It's a beautiful area. Very unexpected! Our FP will be added to the list
A cockroach was just hang out at the cache.

Had planned to be in the area to attend a CITO so had a look around for some additional caches in the end had a handful (including this cache) that we would try to grab due to limited time.
Thanks GJMMelb for the well constructed hide and bringing us to a nice little hidden oasis.

#1318 - Made it to GZ just after my late morning coffee and I was eager to find a cache! Funnily enough I as up, down and all around but to no avail. While I was off broadening my search, my partner in crime found the cache hidden with some great camo!
