Tftc after a bit of searching we found this one. Out on a road trip with tash2494
While staying in the area for a few days, we saw this cache tempting us from on high. The climb up was interesting as we couldnt follow the track at one stage, and we ended up bush bashing before homing in on GZ.We met up with some new geocachers at the lookout (I'm sorry I can't remember the caching name) and, after several minutes of hunting, it was one of them that located the sneaky fellow. Thanks for bringing us up here, CoomaClan, and it was a pleasure to meet the new team.
An awesome walk up .the path isn't maintained but it was fine...bring a hiking pole I also opted for the gaiters... found the cache by following the great hints...sat to enjoy some zen moments before continuing
Spent a good 20 minutes on this one while the wife rested from the hike. She took a look and found it immediately
Great few days up hiking and geocaching in the Snowy Mountains. Too good an opportunity not to pick some caches up in Cooma on the way home. So targeted those leading up to Mt Lamby. TFTC, it is a lovely spot.
After a few adventurous days in the snow ️ we made our way up to our target cache on top of Mt Lambie picking this one on our way up. Took a good 20mins to locate this small strong container but we got there in the end. TFTC CoomaClan.
An interesting walk with caching buddies to an area I'd not visited before.
Thanks, CoomaClan!
Thanks, CoomaClan!
Out for a walk while Clair attends an SES meeting nearby.
Beautiful view from up here, a cache I've driven so close to for so long, glad to tick it off the list.
Cheers

All day caching in and around the wide Jindabyne area. Lovely weather and lovely views, then driving home via Cooma and Canberra. Lovely little walk here!

Replaced the container with a more robust bison. Little animal chews appearing on the old container!
Excellent, thanks so much for the perfect hints. I really appreciate them when they tell you exactly what you need to know.
Replaced cache today after widened search are. DNF so reinstated and addition of a visual spoiler for future reference. Bush.
Passing by and saw some DNFs and a damaged cache photo. Checked well inside the hiding spot and no more evidence of the cache. I checked all nooks and crannies in vicinity of my known hidey spot and was empty handed. Will Disable for now and renew cache in next fewweeks. Cooma Clan
Approached from the wrong side whoops. But eventually found the trail, but unfortunately didn't find the cache.
Found a perfect hidey whole that matches the description tho. Hopefully hasn't gone walkies

In town for the afternoon for a function so took the opportunity for a short wander up the hill first. We approached this from the wrong direction but it was easy enough terrain even off the trail. Actually - perhaps a nicer wander that way. Got to the top and GPS honed in on a likely spot that matched the hint perfectly. No luck despite a pretty wide search using torch, bendy mirrors, long reachy-pokey-things and the like. Hasn't been found in ages so not certain this is still in place or is SUPER well hidden.
Day 8 of our 2 week road trip south from Brisbane. After overcoming floods, a bogged car and vehicle electrical issues, we finally reached Canberra to spend a few days with relatives and explore some of the newer virtual and earth caches since my last visit. It was then time to continue the journey south towards the Snowy Mountains.
I was up at 6.30am to head out for a walk while my wife had a sleep in. It was a chilly start to the day at -1°, with a heavy frost. I had to head back inside for some warm water to dissolve the ice covering my windscreen.
I started to drive along the dirt track to get closer to the start of the walking trail but the track seemed to deteriorate and I quickly backpedalled - I had already got my car bogged once this trip and I wasn't about to risk it again! Parking up back on the main dirt road, I walked the rest of the way in, passing a couple of other vehicles that had found a place to set up camp for the night and where just packing I as I went by.
I headed across country for a short stretch and soon encountered the walking trail heading up. Despite the chilly morning air I soon raised a sweat as I climbed up the slope and eventually found myself at the Ayers Rock area. Following the hint I set about my search but after a while I was still empty handed. I decided to expand my search zone and soon found the cache tucked into an overhanging crevice in the rock, a bit further down hill from the other location that matched the hint.
Extracting the cache container I found it was in a pretty sad state (see attached photo) but the logbook and contents were still dry and I was able to sign my name in the logbook. Cache is definitely still there despite recent DNF's but could do with some TLC to keep it going. TFTC

We found this by accident on a walk to discover Ayres rock! Such a lovely view
Have been here in the past and logged a dnf.
Found today by accident on a run.

Out with Tankengine for a trip to Cooma.
We had actually planned to come out this way today anyway, but seeing the new caches out this way still hadn't been found, we decided to leave a little earlier than first thought. Which worked out really well in the end as we got home earlier to be able to attend to our families needs and wants.
What a nice spot for a cache! A lovely walk up to here and nice views too. Cache was quickly found and all in good condition. Tftc CoomaClan!!!

My last day here in Cooma and i wanted to do something awesome today before heading home so i set my sights upon this and the other nearby cache.
Parking roadside i started down this familiar trail from my last visit here, however that didnt last long making a bee-line across the creek and straight up the Ayres, after checking out the view i started scrarching around,i misinterpreted the hint and went down searching before realising my mistake, back up again then I soon enough found it..nice!
After signing duties completed i grabbed a few pics before heading off over to the next cache, pic added of my visit and the view!
Thanks for the cache

Quick find after a slog straight up the hill from the track, great views of the town and surrounds, found the track down which was a lot easier

Check on cache ok after a few dnf's. Cache ok.
Think the bush on the rocks to the east.
Think the bush on the rocks to the east.
Will get up to site in next few weeks to check on status since there has been a couple of DNF's over the last year, particularly from experienced cachers!
This was a day trip to catch up with all those caches we've missed when coming through town with no time to stop. We approached the cache directly from 'Eddie' down below, mostly off track so we did it the hard way. Once up top we spent quite a while searching without success. The hint seemed rather ambiguous so like others before us tried to eliminate every hiding spot, but as the day grew hotter we eventually had to concede. Great views though, thanks CoomaClan.
Enjoyed the walk to the site after finally finding the right track! Nice cache, thank you Cooma Clan
Finally found after so many visits to find. Seems to be 4m out on garmin gps. Must have checked this cork quite a few times. Decided to totally and thoroughly eliminate all corks. And thoroughly was required. Found within one hour of leaving car down below. I am not too sure about the latest clue. Tftc eventually. Only one more Cooma cache to find. Yep that tricky wagon! one.
Check of cache after a couple of DNFs recently. It is still there. A log in the logbook late March 2016 hasn't been uploaded to web log yet. Changed hint as the original item in the hint has changed over the years since cache commenced. CoomaClan
This is a cache that I've wanted to do for a while. Parked on Montague street and followed the tracks towards GZ. Found a turn-around, then headed straight up the hill to the top. I spent ages up here looking everywhere several times but could not find the cache. In the end it was getting late, so I had to abandon the search. Followed the official track back (which seems a lot further).
A nice walk and location, pity I couldn't find the cache.
A nice walk and location, pity I couldn't find the cache.
Hunted around in the heat for over 30 minutes, checked logs to no avail. Tough pushing the geobike up here and then to find an alternative route down but took to the prison property then to the timber sawmill to the east.
Gotcha! Take the steep 'path' for a good workout. A well hidden cache and worth the effort. TFTC
What a terrible trek! Hint... take the trail! Tricky find... kids started complaining as taking too long to get there and too hard to find... but we found it and taking the trail back this time.... beautiful view!!!
Had to add a photo my kids and I struggle through life , I have 5','aged 13 , 9 , 8 , 7 , and 4 . Once we found geocaching our world changed , all we need is a drink bottle and some petrol and away we go! And what they get out of it is literally priceless , Visiting such amazing , beautiful places in our own country , exercise , knowledge on so many things , and history , the environment , and family bonding time it makes us very happy , Thankyou x
The weekend was here! And what better way to spend it than to escape Canberra and head off for a coastal geomission?!
Swung by this one on the way. Well this one was certainly a challenge!! Spent about 30 minutes at this one! Searched the spindly shrub at the end of the track with no joy and then everything else with a jumpy GPS signal [:(!]. Was just about to give up when I thought I'd check things out around a small dead shrub near a more alive one. !!! I just spied what looked like the lid of the cache. Reached in a felt plastic...SUCCESS! Certainly felt good to find this one! Liberated the ironically named "Optimism" geocoin to get moving again.
Thanks for the hide, CoomaClan

Too difficult for me, spent over 30 minutes looking. Nice views though. TFTC.
[red]My humble apologies for the late log...[/red]
After living away from home for 6 months, I have managed to find all my caching associated paperwork / notes & photo's so I can (finally) log all my finds...
My sincerest thanks to all the cache owners for their hides & all the effort gone into them & I'm sorry for the generic log... I have seen many beautiful area's that I would not of seen or experience if not for your hides...
Thanks for bringing me here and for the cache... A beautiful part of Australia...

Walk with a friend from Queensland. We trekked the circuit following the path up Wattles Creek and back the main track. Found the cache after a bit of hunting. Nice spot for a view over Cooma and Surrounds. Thanks for the cache.
We took The old dry plains rd to the south of the cache, parked in a side rd and walked
directly to Ayers rock. This was a mistake. We bush bashed all the way to the cache and back,
after which a Anatolian Shepherd DOG started following us practically all the way back to car
in a docile but guarding manner. Eventually the owner on a horse came out and we
apologised for trekking thru someones property.
We should have parked on Montague st and taken a walking track there:-)

After a kinda quick but long walk through some private property, cache was found. Should have taken the official walking track from the north.
Found by a rabble of naughty kids. Bit of a hike for the kids but they'll sleep well tonight.
Walked in from Vulcan Street. Saw an echidna digging at the side of the track just before the creek.
Kids started complaining about the walk half way in, but we made it to the top. Took about 15 mins of searching before I located the cache. The GPS was bouncing round all over the place.
Cache is still in good condition.

3309. A nice stroll up here and some great views. I was carrying a TB that wants to visit the red Ayers Rock. I guess this one doesn't qualify.

Parked my car near the "Watch out for Mr. Roo" and walked up from there. It is a nice, 25-30min (return trip) walk and the view from Ayers Rock is very nice. I spotted the cache from several meters away with a casual glance without having started looking for it. I hid it 20cm further away, so it is not as visible from the path. TFTC, TD.
Found this one with jojo777 on our roadtrip through Australia, while exploring Cooma & surrounds. Took us a long time to locate this one.
Thanks for the cache &

Made it to the rock, good look around and can't find any sign of a Santa sled, koala pin, screwdriver or pocket knife. Left a green matchbox truck under the rock ledge at the end of the path (left hand side).
Third day in a row of caching with my 2 eldest daughters. Destination is Cooma today. Plan is to pick up all the remaining unfound caches along the highway, drop into the Snowy Hydro Discovery Centre and do as many caches as time will allow in Cooma.
After spending the last 2 days hiking around Namadgi NP, this was the last thing we all needed was another walk up a hill. Never the less, we took on the challenge and were rewarded with a remarkable loaction at the GZ. We took a direct route to the GZ and followed the path going back down. A quick find once we had ascended to rock. TFTC.

We did not climb the more famous Ayers Rock but had no qualms about reaching the summit of this one. TFTC.
Not sure how this place got it's name. And took us ages to com up with the goods. Spotted jsut as we were about to give up.
Out an epic caching/4WD adventure with Jmanjezza and friends.
This was a tricky find, I was just about ready to give up, but Jmanjezza had one more idea... Got it in the end.

After a good walk up to the lookout I searched around for about 15 minutes but could not locate the cache, the GPS was wandering a bit, but the walk was good and it had good views.
Staying in Cooma and made the trek up the hill. Have been to the other Ayers Rock a few times and this one is very different. Surprised to find a picnic table there, good view. TNLN, Thanks
Just a Sunday stroll with the CoomaClan to do a cache check and to move a GeoCoin on its journey
Ahh, no idea this lookout was here. Nice though muddy wander about today. GZ was quite a challenge for this set of eyes, found after about 20 minutes of searching.
Thanks for another CoomaClan.
Thanks for another CoomaClan.
Today was the sixth day of our excursion out of Tasmania touring from Melbourne to Canberra and return via Gippsland. We visited a number of towns and areas today between Cooma and Queanbeyan in New South Wales and we were lucky enough to find some caches along the way. As happened yesterday, the day started very foggy but cleared quickly to a fine day with changing proportions of blue skies and broken cloud. The fog had cleared as we set off along the Lambie Bush Reserve walking track but parts of the track were very wet with large mud puddles to be negotiated at the start and at various points along the way. It took us about 25 minutes to get to the area of GZ. Then the hunt started. There were just so many hiding spots which could have fitted the hint. We widened the search area after no early success. After that failed we returned back to GZ for a more intensive search. After about 20 minutes searching the cache was discovered in a very good hide - it could not be seen from anywhere except when you were peering right into the hide location. This was an excellent hide CoomaClan - well done. There was still some fog and mist in parts of Cooma and there was reasonably heavy cloud cover above. So the view over Cooma from the lookout was not as spectacular as it would be in good weather. TFTC CoomaClan.
3447th total find at 14:30
Phew, what an adventure. The start of the track is soaked from the recent rains and there is no bridge at the (swollen) creek crossing. After negotiating those, it was all uphill from there.
It took us a fair while to locate the cache. We did look in it's hidey hole, but not properly , so after spending some time scouting around we were about to call it quits - when we thought "just one more look", and success.
Took: Nothing
Left: Screwdriver
Thanks CoomaClan for the cache

This was the big challenge for the day. There was plenty of water around (although I am sure there is more now), but that did not stop me getting to the top. A great view over town, but no too far as there was plenty of low cloud around. Thanks.

Having climbed the other Ayers Rock I found this one a bit easier, still a pleasant walk to a lookout hav'nt been before. Thanks.
Not sure why they call it Ayers Rock, I must admit I struggled with the resemblance [?], but the views are well worth it even if geo son did think that he might die before reaching the top [xx(].
Thanks coomaclan for bringing us to a great spot.

Another great view in Cooma, bit of a hike up and our legs are feeling it as we did Mt Kosiosko yesterday. Didn't take long to spot the cache, made some swaps. SLTN TFTC

Found with blossom* after a very enjoyable walk this morning. Great spot CoomClan
What a great walk! It was a really beautiful morning after the rain, with everything fresh and green. Lots of flowers out and birds everywhere. We really enjoyed the walk and the views from the top. Not quite sure why it's called Ayers Rock up here but it's a great spot and my favourite cache in Cooma. I left one of my personal pathtags for the cache owners if they get up there again soon, or else for the next visitors. Big thank you to CoomaClan
Bit of a stroll to check how things are going. Saw Geocoin but left there for moment. If not moved on this month will help it on its way. Cooma Clan
We had a great run from Cooma to Canberra. We picked up 35 and had fun along the way while seeing the sights. TFTH
