CO has not responded to a Needs Maintenance Log and hasn't been on line since 2011.
This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.
We feel this cache may have gone astray and needs checking by the CO, a message was sent to peteorth however no response was received to date. Cache was last found on 30 Mar 15.
We extended our search as the gps was jumpy. Looked at every tree, stumps and holes. No Nek today.
Disaster struck here ,just love the area but like previous looker I searched madly for quite a while with no success, would have been happy to give three out of three fav points. Thanks anyhow peteorth.
It was a nice 2 hour walk and we spent a good half hour looking for it but sadly no luck.
I would like to do this. Please send me a message if you are doing this walk/trek too. I just don't want to cache alone (scared of snakes and bogeyman LOL... but fit to hike/climb) and my usual caching buddies have either already done it or interstate.
Out with my caching friends today.
We climbed up to find this cache.
This was a pleasant walk and stopped a few times to catch our breath.
I headed into GZ and soon found the cache.
We all signed the log and rehid the cache
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks [email protected] All good with this cache

40 minutes to climb up to a dirty cache but clean on the inside. Nice breeze has sprung up - great because my shirt is really wet

This was the last cache to find on the way back to the car. This one was located pretty quickly and we continued along the trail, taking note of the mountain bike track running alongside. Certainly some challenging looking jumps and humps along this section. I'm sure Swellerfungus was having flashbacks to his BMX Bandit days. We finally made it back to the car just as a passing shower of rain began to fall. TFTC
Out for a day of hight difficulty/terrain rating with Seffnjarah. Heading down to an event in Canungra gave us the chance to attack a heap of caches from the Dark Side of Brisbane down to the Gold Coast.
Given our plans to walk down Back Creek Gorge were thwarted by the weather (though we found out later that others at the event had done just that) we looked further afield, and SNJ came up with these four.
NOTE THE NEED TO ADJUST THE COORDINATES - THEY ARE WRONG - SEE EARLIER LOGS
On the way back from The Walk - we picked up this one on the way out. No troubles finding it, but I am concerned that the way home is marked 'Advanced'! Having seen the bike track jumps and gullies we think that maybe the rating refers to them! The hill out was mostly pretty easy (going DOWN that is!).
Thanks

I decided to see how easy it is to increase one's difficulty and Terrain ratings by tackling these three up here.
I corrected all of the co-ords before leaving home at 10 am. I didn't see anybody but could hear the birds in full chorus. I enjoyed noticing the different soil types and vegetation at the different levels and on different sides of the hill. The climb down the loose rocky road on this side was not so hard if you watch where you put your feet amongst the stones. The road out is very obvious. I was back home before 12. Thanks peteorth.

3 x Trad caches, all offset 4-600m. To fit the guidelines, coordinates should be corrected, or the listing changed to a multi, with indications in the description that one is looking for an offset.
This was definitely a physically challenging end to the day grabbing the three cache across the top of the mountain here. It probably did not help that I was pushing the timing with the sun as well, but all turned out well in the end.
I believe it is between Quinns Post and this cache that you reach the highest part of the walk, which turned out to be just over 200m elevation. It was on the return to the car that I noted what seemed like the low point being at around 40m elevation. I am going to have to check the GPS track map and see what it actually is just for curiosity.
The find here was again quite straight forward and happy to see that the majority of the walk ahead was going to be down hill, it still was a good heart starter for the afternoon.

Nyssaflutterby and I were out in Nerang Forest Reserve today chasing down a few geocaches. Only after parking on Brookfield Rd and finding our way to the posted co-ordinates did we check to see where the cache really is. Oh my! It is a long way and the posted co-ords are properly stinky. And.. in the direction from which we had just come.
It had been a long and hot walk up the various bike trails and on the way back we made a shortcut or two to ensure we didn't die of November heat exhaustion. We arrived at the actual co-ordinates and started looking around. Nyssa soon found the beast tucked away a few metres from where I'd been looking. All in good condition here and I've too posted the right co-ordinates. Now off to find the next one. TFTC peteorth

How it is Captain Terror and myself decide to go on crazy hiking adventures in the middle of terribly hot days is beyond me! To make matters worse we didn't know about the very dodgy coords for this lot of caches and ended up walking a great distance more than we should have After winding our way along the mountain bike track, taking a short cut where we could we finally ended up at the posted coords. Hmmm, um, what tha? The cache is no where near here! Back we went and then further up the hill to final the real GZ some 500 metres away Ah well. The cache was found easily once we knew where to look.
Thanks for the cache peteorth

Grabbed four caches with Couchmen including one FTF, and three caches up in the Nerang Forest. The weather was very mild, in the mid 20's, lots of Sun and lowish humidity, it was a comfortable few hours caching walking in the bush. Thanks to cache owners for the caches.
Had been meaning to grab these three caches for some time now. Finally today teamed up with Couchmen to do the walk. Some steep tracks, but that didn't stop us.
Last on the list... Some more steep grades, and we missed the side track to this one. After backtracking and a bit of bush bashing, the easy find was in hand. TFTC.

Out with Blacklegend again today, he had set me this mountain climbing challenge the other day and I thought with him along I was up for it so here we are.
I knew it was a terrain 4 so what we encountered didn't surprise me but the mind being ready doesn't make the body strong.
He was very patient with me as I stopped every 10 paces or so on the steep sections.
2 down 1 to go and we were again in for another climb, luckily not as long as the first ascent.
We watched as the numbers came down and the GPS swung but what we didn't notice as we were walking along chatting as we went was a side path.
We had proceeded onward until it was obvious that we had almost circumnavigated the GZ.
We chose a reasonable route back towards GZ and quickly found the path we should have come in on.
As we neared GZ I gave Blacklegend the honours of grabbing the cache while I sat and regained my strength (he is young enough to be my son after all!).
All was safe and sound with the cache and location.
The descent was so much more enjoyable and we were buoyed by the joy of 3 mountain finds and an FTF earlier in the day so all round it was a great day.
We had considered continuing on to Heart Break Hill but couldn't justify the extra time so we have left it for another day.
Thanks Peteorth TFTC SL TNLN

Nice hide! Pretty area as well. Came across a blue tongue lizard who didn't seem very happy to see me. Signed the log and walked back. So much easier walking down a hill! thanks for the cache [email protected].

Another day out caching.
Another day with a cache found for the August challenge.
Another souvenir.
Another log book signed eventually.
Another smile on my face.
Another 'thanks for the cache'.

After eventually finding Quinns Post I made my way along the main track to another giant hill climb. The two joggers that past me at Lone Pine where coming back down the hill. As I past I noticed the dry blood on old mates arm from where he had tripped earlier. "Morning".
Half way up and here comes a runner. I wasn't really sure at first if he was out of control or not. But he was flying down that hill. I reached the top and continued around to the intersection in the track. Followed the next trail around to GZ where I found the cache in great condition. Geez it's so peaceful out at this NEK of the woods.
I signed my name and replaced it in it's hole.
Awesome series peteorth thanx heaps.

Wow what a round about trip to get here. Came here from cas2 & tried to find lone pine on the way through, following many mtb tracks and then making my own. Before reading logs etc to find that co-ords are not as they seem. Wrote the correct co-ords on tree at the apparent GZ for lone pine. Remarked the three caches in the area with corrected positions & since lone pine was back down the hill from where I was I tracked to the top of the hill and picked up this one. TFTC.... Please CO fix these co-ords!!! Thanks to others for showing corrections will do the same...
Rode all the way to the listed co-ords. Had to pedal back up the hill to GZ. Lucky it was a really fun trail
The last one in the series and the first one we found. Went on from Lone Pine and Quinns Post after not having any luck and come straight up to this one. Stopped along the way to have a chat with a few hikers. The sign if almost completely faded and the log book if a little damp but still ok. Thank for this and the other 2 caches along the way. A very enjoyable walk
Another stump up the hill after the easy walk to the previous cache. Located the hiding spot after a quick search. Not too keen on the spikey plants around GZ though.
Decided to tackle "Heartbreak Hill" cache at this point so backtracked to the forestry road and headed off. About 30 minutes steady walk, but stick to the road.
To save another assault on "The Nek" on your return from "Heartbreak Hill" there is a MTB track at these co-ords at the bottom of the hill, that saves you the walk back up hill, although it is quite narrow. S 27° 58.790 E 153° 18.012

Thanks to previous logs, I managed to take the correct trail. Also thanks to the genius Radnoski for deciphering the co-ords and making these three caches possible! A very enjoyable morning. TFTC
Was a case of not enough daylight left to search when we arrived near gz, turned round and headed out on a familiar track.
Will return another day for a look.
Will return another day for a look.
Next and final in this little series. I trudged on up. Truly - you people jogging up hill past me are freaks After initially taking a wrong turn, I soon found my way to GZ. My hunt did not yield a cache to start with. I checked the logs and noted it was "closer" to the track. With that in mind, I found the cache safe and sound. It is in good condition. I enjoyed this little area a lot. I signed the log and continued down the hill.
I eventually came out semi-near my car. As OpenStreetMaps didn't have the streets listed where I was - it was up to the good old Nokia to get me back to the car. Just as well too.. it started pelting as I got there!
TFTC peteorth I ennjoyed this little series and time in the bush. I have included a copy of the co-ords that worked for me for the next finder.

Out for an early morning walk so I decided to walk in from the Nerang Beaudesert Road to increase my heart rate a little, now that the co-ords are cracked it was a really quick find TFTC Peteorth
Like other cachers before us we carried along the main path a little too far before doubling back and taking the "advanced" side track. After a bit of bashing around we spotted it not too far from the track. Enjoyed the walk up here today. TFTC.
Finally onto the last of this serious & just when you think there would be no more uphill battle.....there was well I do enjoy the high terrain caches stopped at the crossroads & decided to take the wrong path of course (ever hopeful) had to decide weather to climb or backtrack....decided on the latter...
Followed the GPSr in and after a few circles found the cache and noticed the path [:o)]
This series is a great walk....hope Pete keeps up the caches TFTC Pete

Finding this series of caches Ms Wig and I were commenting "what a clever fellow is Radnoski"... and heading towards this last one we
started commenting "what a fit fellow is Radnoski" *puff...puff*
We took the wrong path to start with, then backtracked and found a better path... we left the path a bit early, which meant it took longer
than it should have to find this one, but found eventually. There was also a failed attempt to log a GCA cache here too, oh well, another day.
Thanks Peterorth, a very challenging series in a great area, we both enjoyed this immensly, well worth the effort!!

A visit by a TB that wanted to visit hard to find caches, just as these 3 caches were when first published - co-ords were in a different system!
cute little TB - great idea for a trackable gerrynewgirl

Ah now this was not so easy as the last one. There was another steep hill to climb and then a bit of a puzzle over which path to take. Of course when there are two paths you can bet bristracker can take the wrong one. We came to a big bank and were faced with backtracking or climbing the bank. We climbed. But there was no track and we wandered through the lantana until I found the last plastic box. Then we found we were right beside another track and had taken the difficult way round. There is a sign and some information on the particular battle of WW1. I love these stories out of history. What a great idea for a series of caches. thanks to Radnoski for clearing up the problem with the co-ords and to Aussie Liahona for doing the sums to get us there. Three caches for the price of one walk.
And that would have been it but for the stop I made on way down at AL's request so Mrs AL could take a photo. Shortly thereafter I lost my footing on the loose rocks and fell face first onto the stones. It rather spoilt the rest of the walk for me. The new prescription sunglasses took a hammering. At least I'll get a find for GCA - Casualty Ward. Thanks to Aussie Liahona for the photographic record.

Found today thanks to RADNOSKI putting in the hard yards and decyphering the co-ordinates for the rest of us. Well done! Having found the first two caches we felt confidant we would find this one also. After climbing another hill we meandered along the wide path and then with only about 120 metres to go we should have taken the smaller side path. Made it a little difficult for ourselves by continuing along the wide trail and then having to climb a steep embankment using the roots of a tree that were exposed to help haul us up there. I did wonder if Radnoski may have been refreshing himself with passionfruit as we saw a whole one dropped near the side path turn off. Then we found a few more discarded passionfruit skins along our grassy route we took to GZ. We enjoyed accomplishing the last of this trio of caches by peteorth. Apart from Bristracker taking a stumble on our return we had a great couple of hours. Thanks.

This was my third attempt to find these caches. The first attempt was with the published co-ordinates and the second time I tried converting them to another Aussie Datum. (I was nowhere near)
There was a cache published in Robina a couple of days ago but no one could find it. I started to think of the different reasons that the co-ordinates would be wrong and saw a pattern. (the zero's as the third decimal place)
The co-ordinates were recorded as S 27° 58' 42'' E 153° 18' 07'' but published as S 27° 58.420 E 153° 18.070. (which can make hundreds of meters difference in this case)
By dividing the minutes by 60 you get the real co-ordinates in the format we are familiar with......
S 27° 58.700 E 153° 18.117
I calculated the new co-ordinates yesterday and headed up the hill this morning.
I found the first cache easily but had no joy at the second one along the track on my first attempt. As I approached this one, something caught my eye. It was a bit faded but still brought me within meters of the cache.
TFTC Peter. I am glad to finally claim a smiley on these caches.
While signing the log one of those pesky cache dwelling frogs hopped on in.

The last in the series. The area was the easiest of the three to get to but no find. See photo of GZ the pack marks the spot.
3rd DNF today in the company of Radnoski. See Lone Pine cache log for the full story.
DNF number 3 for the day. It was great to run in to Mr & Mrs Herbz and have some one to chat to along the way.
We are not having much luck with this series of caches today. That is zero from three with three sets of eyes.
Oh well, at least I walked 5 kilometers in the process and got to meet up with some fellow geocachers.
