A friend sent me a message and asked if the caches in the Mt Mee area would be ok to do for a first time 4wder. I jumped at the idea and said I’d come to and help them out. I took the opportunity to do some education and some caching. Out with my favourite Geo friends getting some more caches. What a lot of fun today has been. TFTC

Found with the Team of TMZ59, Patrol14, Peppa, abeck58, Catboy67 and clanbeckett.

It's Australia Day and we've all got the day off work, so what else should we do, other than a 4WD and BBQ in the bush somewhere.

Peppa came up with the destination, abeck58 offered the use of his (work)vehicle, TMZ59 volunteered her services as Lead Vehicle and Patrol14 came along for moral support.

After half the team attended an event at Scarborough the other half of us had a bit of a sleep in and we all rendezvoused at The Gantry. Then the fun began. 2 way radio's in place had abeck58 getting all the education he needed on his first experience at being a 4WDer with the trusty assistance of Catboy67 in the comms. Kids in the front of the car today, parents in the back seat .

Thanks Fangoski for bringing us to this area and providing our adventure today

Having completed Part I of the day with Patrol14 and TMZ59 in the Habanero Sport which involved the Australia Day Event at Scarborough and a couple of caches on the peninsula we’ve moved onto Part II…

Joining up with Abeck58, Catboy67, ClanBeckett & PirateLinda to tackle some of the 4WD tracks through D’Aguilar…

Having abandoned our hope of reaching both Diana’s Bath & Jacky Creek thanks to closed roads and locked gates, we collected this cache on the way back to Sellin Road…

As described, this was a nice quick find…. Tftc…

After a drive through the forest and a stop in at the gantry, I decided to come get this one last cache before heading home.
I stopped and listened out - heard the buzzing all around.
Checked the obvious location that was suggested in the hint, then tried a bit further afield - no luck today. I'll be back with fresher eyes next time.

Today's plan was D'Aguilar National Park, with a planned Community Celebration Event at The Gantry in the afternoon. On route, I found a few more of the *Pacman* series near Dayboro, and then entered D'Aguilar National park via Mount Brisbane Road. The Jeep enjoyed the mountainous terrain, and a trip to Dianas Bath was quite scenic. Then, the Jeep's 4WD-ing was tested driving north up A Break, and it was a case of being committed, that I made my way through. A final loop around Western Escarpment Forest Drive was had, before a few last stops at Falls Lookout and Bulls Falls, and Mill Rainforest Walk. On my drive returning home, I managed to attack another cluster of Dayboro geocaches, until running out of daylight.

This was one of my last geocache finds in the National Park, and it was a drive down the same track that I exited from, when I found this geocache. After making a safe park, it was a quick find of this cache in an obvious spot. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and I picked up the TB that had been deposited here. Thanks Kadanga_Krew for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

What a great day this is/was. The event at the Gantry was great (nice cakes), as was the caching beforehand. We did some more afterwards, then returned to the Gantry while the rain pelted down. It was a pleasant drive home with the sun shining on the wet grasses of the mountains! Paradise!!

Log signed and cache replaced as found September 05, 2021. TFTC, Kadanga_Krew.

Footnote: I found this note while clearing out the History section of c:geo on 20.10.2021. Apologies for the late note.

After checking out the Gantry, we decided on a 4WD tour of the D'Aguliar National Park would be a great way to spend the afternoon. While the roads were rough, we only came across two hill descents that really caused us to consider how good M's 4WD skills were. All in all, great fun!

Out and about today with Chamad, Willis007 and JACS Teams for a bit of off road action around Mt Mee State Forest chasing some oldies and a few other caches in between. Our day starting bright and early at 6:30am after a necessary stop off to Dayboro Bakery for some much needed coffee.

After our short break it was time to hit the road and make our way to Mt Mee Forest and get ourselves off road and hopefully make it out in one peace since some of those tracks looked a bit iffy, but the beast had no issue navigating through the tough terrain to get us where we needed to go. We had a wonderful action packed day and really enjoyed exploring the area. It was a shame the weather took a turn for the worse as it started to pour it down towards the end of our journey, but we pushed on and found all the caches we were after.

Cache number three on our outing and a much easier one to get to compared to the other two we did before. The cache was quickly spotted, signed and replaced as found. We jumped back into the car and off we went to the next one.

24-Oct-20

What a great day out caching today. I had contacted JACS Team, Willis007 and GeoNayfee and told them of my plan for the day all jumped on board. The plan was to drive around Mt. Mee and grab a few oldies and whatever else we passed by.

Our first cache was Bulls falls; this was a particularly important cache for JACS as it would make her 50th old cache, and for me my 48th. We parked at the designated spot and there was no one around here today so we had the place to ourselves. A short walk in and we reached the spot, it wasn’t long before the call came out and the honours of first to sign was given to JACS to sign.

Back at the car it was then a drive to Mills Walk. Again we could only drive to the gate as the road down had been shut off due to a fallen tree. So an extra bit of a walk down the hill was required. An easy walk to the trail head to another barricade, but with just 80 mtrs to go we found a way in and made it to the cache; cache number two for the day and oldie number two.

Back at the car it was then off on a drive, a detour around and we made it to Hear Em, an easy find and then back in the car for a drive around to Dianna’s Bath. This was a fun walk and we encountered some unusual items along the way but made it to an awesome spot. With cache soon spied and signed it made number 50 for me. On the way back to the car we took a different track up which turned out to be way easier and less bush bashing.

Back in the car we were then onto the “A” track to grab the ones along this track. All were found easily and the track was fun for the 4wders amongst us.

Wow we are done already so a decision was made to grab Lakes Lookout, today was probably not the best day for the lookout as it was pouring down with rain and the view was just of the valley below.

What a great day and thank you to my fellow cachers for the day and to the CO’s for placing these caches up here.

After some conversations during the week, a plan came to life early this morning which saw CHAMAD take JACS Team, GeoNayfee and myself on a fantastic day of 4WDing around Mount Mee to collect some golden oldies and a few other well placed caches in this area.
After meeting at Dayboro bakery at 6.30 we completed Bulls Falls and Mill Walk then made our way to this one. Arriving at gz, CHAMAD quickly found the cache. We certainly did hear a lot of 'em, I wonder if they were happy about the rain which was soon coming their way.
Log signed and the cache replaced as found.
We headed back to the car and continued our journey around Mount Mee.
Thanks Kadanga_Krew for placing and maintaining the cache here.
And a big thank you to CHAMAD for taking us on this super fun 4WDing adventure - 3 oldies for me today, but both JACS and CHAMAD have now found over 50 oldies! Congratulations!

Rather than our what is becoming our Sunday hike we decided to stay with 4 wheels and venture out to the dirt to discover D'Aguilar National Park / Mt Mee.

We parked down the bottom of the hill by the creek crossing and after finding some rather bright orange fungii at the creek we wandered up the hill. This took us a little longer than it should with geoD finally making the find in a spot he had already searched.

With a day away from work, had a 4WD invite from Gcoven to check a few caches she was after. Heading down the dirt path, we had to drive right past this place and it would have been down right rude to not visit and listen to the bell birds.

My first recollection of bell birds was many years ago as a school aged brat in Tassie. Interesting how a particular sound can trigger a memory. Walking up from the parking spot still had about 10m to go on the GPS when a likely spot presented itself for a further look and the cache found. Thanks for highlighting this great spot Kadanga_Krew.

I've always wanted to visit this area more, and as 1Minniemoo had a day off work and I wasn't doing anything and we had no GC map to show us any other options we headed up here as I had the list of old caches saved offline.
After doing two old cache nearby, we wondered if this was possible in 1MM's little Rio.
We messaged a friend and asked her thoughts, but she wasn't sure what car she had come here in but thought we might be ok.
So we headed down, slowly. 1MM did a great job of getting us down and back again in the little Rio.
The cache was easily located and yes, we did hear 'em. Time for some lunch after that anxious drive!

Hmmm what to write for this log? It's hard when the words I want to write aren't allowed. This is my own fault, not the fault of the CO. You see I scored a spontaneous day off work today so collected Wombles&Co for a day of adventure. And adventure it was. As groundspeak was offline when we started the day, we decided on a couple of oldest and finest caches in Wombles&Co's offline list which brought us out this way. With those done, we saw this one on the map. Well that's a road according to our maps, so it won't be all that bad surely?
Of course I only drive a Kia Rio, and poor Mia the Kia gets taken to all sorts of non-Rio type places, and she had already done some rough tracks today. But when we got to the start of this one, I questioned her, and my, ability here. Hmmm should I really risk taking her down here not knowing what lies ahead? Well I started heading down just a few metres and then said nope maybe not and reversed back, thinking it's likely to get much worse before we get to GZ surely and turning around may not be an option.
Then we stopped, looked at a few logs, knew what cars some cachers owned. And also contacted NyssaFlutterby who mentioned she'd been to this cache a couple times and maybe at least once in a small vehicle. Maybe.
So it was here I lost all brain and decided what the heck, it's a day of adventure and we are no wusses. And then we launched. Well we got to about 500m from the cache and I decided I needed to stop and look around that bend and see if things are likely to get worse, so reversed the car up a way to park it then went for a wander.
Ok not too bad, I think we'll be ok.
Did I mention I drive a tiny little Rio?
With adrenaline pumping we continued until we were about 100m out and I saw a nice spot I could pull in safely and be able to turn around in to head out after finding the cache. So we decided to stop the car there and walk the last 100m. A little water over the crossing here today it really was quite pretty either side, and it turns out I could have taken the car the last 100m ok but we didn't mind getting out, and wandering, giving my nerves a little time to steel before the return trip. A quick find of the cache - complete with dog poop bags inside (maybe for other cachers who had similar experience as my journey down here, that may need some instant relief?! *note I did not take this option). Then it was back in the car and back up that track, me apologising and saying nasty words much of the way.
So yes this is drivable in a small car, but is it advisable? Proooobably not..... tho we did
Thanks for the cache Kadanga_Krew.

23-Jun-18
We were out at Mt Mee picking up a couple of oldest and finest. Realising these dirt tracks are awesome out here we thought we would go down another one because a cache was sitting on it. Down we travelled giving way to a few dirt bikers on the way until we reached the creek crossing and the phone was deelinging that we were close to the cache. We parked the geo-beast to the side and headed off for our search.

As we were travelling down Mr 4ando informed me this one looks like it is right on the road…hmm not sure about that. We jumped into the creek balancing on a few rocks to keep our feet dry. GPS is telling us to go uphill so we climbed out of the creek bed and got smashed with plantation, why are there no geo-trails here. Now we are getting a bit of bounce and are making a massive geo-trail all of our own. Onwards we head up stomping and ripping as we go, why is the terrain rating so low, 5 metres to go, we are getting close. We look up and what do we see…the road!!!! With the cache nestled right next to it! We obviously took the wrong way in.

After signing the log, we returned to the car the easy way.

Monday. Both Slow Punctures were out in the Wamuran/D'Aguilar area in search of caches.

This one was a lovely drive inside the National Park - we found the stream, we heard the bellbirds and we found the cache. After signing, we replaced the lid securely, not the way we found it. Luckily no moisture had found its way inside.

This was the 8th of 9 caches found on today's trip.

I entered this road from the south east end. No signs suggesting this was for 4wd only there, although I had my suspicions part way through (when Paul Kelly's "I've done all the dumb things" came on the radio...), and it was confirmed once I got out. Never mind, my mighty hatchback made it through! Cache was easily found to a chorus of bell miners. TFTC!

Travelled this track many years ago with my children hunting down the awesome (and since archived) caches, and out again today adventuring with Gon20s. Finally found the cache in a much easier spot than where our GPSs had taken us. No need to go bush bashing for this one, as mentioned by a previous finder. During our misguided hunt, I brushed up against what I think was a juvenile Gympie Stinging Tree. Twice. (Yeah, I know, not smart). Had some discomfort on my shoulder for a couple of hours, nothing major fortunately. Best avoided! TFTC, Kandanga_Krew.

Smilie #3558

Friends had planned a trip to collect the caches in D'Aguilar NP but we were already booked elsewhere.
We really wanted these caches as they filled a few spots we needed in our D/T grid so it was decided that the Geo-Partner & myself would sneak in early & grab the prize! LOL ...

4 of 11 found today.

Working our way through the waypoints for Bulls Falls cache, & picking up others along the way, we targeted this one for our next smilie.
A short, and rather pleasant, drive (even with the corrugations) soon had us parked beside a creek & not too far from GZ.
Eastern Whipbirds were calling in every direction several Brown Cuckoo-doves joined the serenading.
Small Yellow Bush-wrens flitted through the undergrowth as we made our way & soon had the cache in hand.
All good with the cache.
Signed & replaced as found.

Ahhh the Gympie Gympie... For future finders the cache is not at GZ but instead a little further down the hill, very close to the road! We pulled up at the bottom of the hill at the creek, and enjoyed playing in the water for a bit before heading up towards GZ for the cache. Gaz went bush and checked out a few places before being hit by a Gympie Gympie leaf and the trunk... Ouch!! [B)] A quick dash to the creek to try and numb the pain, and after a short detour we were back towards GZ where Kab spotted a very logical spot for a cache and soon had the logbook in hand and added our names [^]

The forest is looking really beautiful at the moment after all the rain and we stopped here to have a look for the cache. Geohubby thought it was hilarious stopping the car to let me out on the causeway, there was about 1 cm of water flowing across (remember if it's flooded forget it!) but I splashed my way up the hill to start searching. I only had my phone with me and the signal was bouncing around everywhere. I definitely overthought this one and was looking in the complete wrong spot, which was confirmed when I got stung by a stinging tree - Owwwwwwwwwwwww! Having no luck, I started to head back down the hill, shoulder complaining and...that looks like a perfect spot for a cache. Shazam, hello Mr Cache! Can't believe it took me so long to find you. TFTC Kadanga Krew, lovely hiding spot.

While camping at NCBR for our 4WD club Christmas Camp, took a drive through Mt Mee Nat Park and while in here, attempted to find a few caches along the way. Cache popped up on GPS so stopped on the side of the road and sent hubby off to locate cache. GPS has him down the slope but not finding anything, relocated uphill and GPS settled enough to get a better fix. Cache found, logbook signed by the cachers in our group and we then continued on our way.

Out for the day with Ma & Pa Kettle for Father's Day. Had a bit of fun on the 4WD tracks. I think one of my passengers has a few more white hairs.

Quick stop and find. TFTC eatmorchikin

My name is Prime, and it has been 15 days since my last geocaching adventure. I was quivering from the withdrawls, shaking almost uncontrollably with the urge to kick over small piles of mulch at the base of random trees - including in my own backyard. I needed to get out there. I needed to go somewhere new and different, and whilst 'special' was no longer as necessary, I did choose D'Aguilar - and as it turned out I did good.

This is a Kizashi approved drive[^] - but only just. I was starting to get a little worried.

Thanks for placing this cache, Kadanga_Krew. Found in good condition.
