Not found for a year now

Did not find

13-Dec-17
Don’t think it’s there any more due to the amount of erosion on cliff face

24-Apr-17
This cache has been haunting me since I first visited 18 months ago. I've returned several times since then, but it wasn't until today, reading through the recent logs and viewing the pictures that I realised how stupid I'd been and how I'd been approaching GZ from the wrong direction. So I headed out once more and followed the cacher-path straight to the cache. An easy find in the end, although I vigorously popped open the lid and almost lost it down below. A dog had done its diarrhoeatic business in the hollow, but it didn't block access to the cache. TFTC Smile Fav point from me.

19-Mar-17
Great spot for a cache! Found about 5 caches today and this one was the most pleasant of surprises. TFTC!!

05-Feb-17
Found with Pazzzabella and Merlot58 Tftc

05-Feb-17
The terrain was comparitively easy here with a well used geo-trail and dry with so little rain lately. One of the few easier West auckland lauch pads to get our kayaks to Pollen Island, but also the most expensive! Tftc ishoot!

28-Dec-16
After starting low at low tide, climbing high then falling down low, realised there is a better, safer, drier way to approach this... but somehow I still ended up in the roots... oh well found the cache and yes it is very rusty now indeed! (:

30-Jul-16
Tricky find here. GPS a little bouncy in trees and had us bashing here and there looking for possible hint items. After a few mins the gps settled though and it led us right to gz. Helped the kids down while MrM who had surgery 3 weeks ago stayed up. Then he said "is that it?" Turned out we didn't need to go "down" at all. Just had to be careful of the hands in the gorse. The cache isn't particularly liking the salt air here as it is very rusty and logbook was wet -signed with a gentle hand. TFTC

03-Jul-16
Slippery one! Eventually found it... Lovely view

06-May-16
Couldn't spot it, or risk further exploration... Don't know if roots have moved or a bad eye

14-Mar-16
Great view just beware of the thorns. TFTC

Yes! I came back with backup and I took revenge of this cache! I plan to get back to all of ishoot caches I've DNFd some day Very Happy
Yeah, in the end it wasn't any hard, I think I went past, up, and around of the cache many times when searching for it the previous time.

Thanks for the cache!

climbed the little hill... nice views too... found it after bit of a search.

09-Jan-16
Had a good idea where to look.
Log is wet az.
Lots of places where it could have been here.
Just used previous logs.

28-Dec-15
DNF
Dressed inappropriately, in my jandals and shorts, I paraded through the gorse but somehow unsuccessfully. I also went down from the muddy side to look at the place from another perspective, still nothing. Better luck next time, I guess.

22-Dec-15
Easy find too many hints in logs

24-Nov-15
Second time looking for this one but with help from the hint soon had the cache in hand. Tftc

14-Nov-15
Made a meal of this one, I had originally been almost touching it but was way too preoccupied with the large specimen in front of me to notice. Got there in the end finding a previous log very helpful. TFTC Smile

Second attempt here but this time it was a nice quick find. NB: The log is extremely wet but managed to sign without damaging. TFTC

30-Oct-15
Tip 1: Wear your gumboots
Tip 2: I found it easier to walk around further and climb up holding on to roots rather than walk up the steep slope (esp after I got gorse prickles stuck in my hands).

Looked and looked but could not find the cache Sad

30-Aug-15
Wet day today. Picking up a couple of quick caches while dodging the showers. Slope slippery but we managed the ascent and decent successfully without loosing our feet. Found quickly with the use of the hint. TFTC

Headed on up to the GZ, put my phone and keys down to start my hunt and what would you know, right next to where I had put my stuff down!! TFTC

12-Jul-15
Could have been dodgy but after thinking carefully about it, reading the hint and noting someone elses review about the cache we decided to broaden the search.

21-Jun-15
Out caching with merlot58 today, I needed a smiley on this one so off we went, she had found it a while back so she took in the view whilst I took on the gorse, hmm not sounding that fair now it is written down. Thanks to previous logs a quick find. Had not been expecting to do much caching today so what a picture I must have looked caching with a handbag lol.

11-Mar-15
Found in the first place I looked! Nicely guarded by gorse. Container is a bit had it, the lid had rusted off! Cheers

16-Feb-15
Note to self, read previous logs before attempting cache. I was about to give up on this one and leave it for another day when I had long pants and better shoes on. I'd managed to slide down the path, almost fall over the edge clambering over large tree and had numerous scratches and prickles in my fingers from the gorse. Then I stopped to have one last survey of the area before heading home and decided I'd just check somewhere that I first looked at but went, 'nah, that's not it'. Yep that was it! Trust your instincts merlot!! TFTC

07-Feb-15
Had a bit of a search on here, until could it be...Yes of course, got it. Thanks.

07-Sep-14
Decided after a very good breakfast in Mt Eden to head out and catch some of those rare sunrays and walk off the food. This one fast my first but not so easy find of the day. It took me some searching and climbing before I read the last logs and made an instant find. Love the view from GZ. TFTC

17-Jul-14
Looked around for a good 15 minutes, didn't find anything

17-May-14
Puzzled me looking at wrong root but found in the end. Quite out in the open . watch out for gorse

17-May-14
Did this with KW12. He has better eyes than me. Felt like like I was playing on a jungle gym looking for this cache!

04-May-14
At GZ, as usual there were many choices that fit the hint. I dove right in. While I was searching and searching, I spotted the cache.

Businesses could save a lot of money by planting gorse on top of fences instead of using barbed wire. Wink TFTC.

28-Apr-14
Found originally as part of rebel98 team, now created own account, re-logging as rustynz

Eventually found after a couple of visits, when CO confirmed it was there, well I guess it meant we were not searching hard enough. Success at last, thanks for the hide.

28-Apr-14
This cache had been a source of frustration and today it was an easy find! Getting past the gorse was the hard bit, and not slipping down the path on the way back to car! I am sure the terrain rating could be higher! I had been right beside the cache previously and missed it. Not today. On return to car found gorse barbs in my hair, and a few scratches on the legs. Its grown lots since my last visit. Other cachers bring gloves and a saw! Thanks for the hide and bringing us here. Big Grin

06-Apr-14
Had us going for a little bit then stood still and reread clue then realised I was looking at cache y fttc

27-Mar-14
Co-ordinates spot on. No need by the way, to be so close to the large tree that hangs precariously to the edge!

24-Mar-14
Found on second attempt very nicely hidden didnt help that on my first attempt i was looking for the wrong type of container, must have gone past it several times on my first visit. TFTC

24-Mar-14
Great stuff. Had been all round it before but some how this time my gps put me on it. Thanks to U.S. for not being U.S. cheers V.

22-Mar-14
All good here, still original cache in original position...you will need to walk through a little bit of gorse, but if you look you will find, don't give up so easilyWinkWink

11-Mar-14
looked for this a wile ago but forgot to log, after previous DNF's I would say this needs checking..

02-Nov-13
Looked above and below, and whilst searching got a few cuts from the gorse. No cache found, the pohutakawa tree is hanging over the edge, with many roots clinging to the cliff face. Large quantities of dirt has fallen away from the tree and the cliff looked unstable. Decided unless attached to an absail rope, this was not for me Sad

01-Nov-13
Had a good search around the area but no luck.

25-Oct-13
No idea how to launch a boat but even I we did, Ghostgums, Kaisho53 and I would have been no better off in our search for this cache. We spent a little while scanning the area to no avail... Twisted

13-Aug-13
Had a good look...didn't find and very dangerous underfoot when damp.

06-Aug-13
Found Smile

Was great to find you had put this cache back with fresh log ! Had been keen to do this as am trying to do all the Whau River ones ! Thanks Ishoot !

07-Jun-13
Sorry for the delay in replacing this one, I have a replacement cache ready to go, it will be replaced in the next 10 or so days Smile cheers

05-May-13
better check on this one I think...

21-Apr-13
This has been muggled. Replaced as best as possible but needs new log sheet and possibly a bag.

21-Apr-13
Was right on the verge of giving up finding this cache, couldn't even see the hint! Finally spotted something likely but no cache. Looked around and found a plastic "cache bag" and further looking revealed the cache container. Muggled. No log sheet. So married up what I had, put in a scratch of paper with signature and placed the container where I assumed it had been. Will need checking.

19-Mar-13
Heading to a customer so made a quick pull over here, soon in hand a great view out

This cache formed part of our assault on West Auckland for the day.

Getting to this cache was a tad tricky but enjoyed the challenge - and the actual find was not difficult.

15-Feb-13
past by below - having a go from the kayak on the way down the river, but alas we think he was high above us when we hit 2 meters distance, and no one liked the look of the mud around there so he shall be left for a land based expedition;-)

09-Jan-13
First cache ever and just down the road. TFTC.

16-Nov-12
Climbed up to GZ then thought surely not down there so cracked open the hint. Phew.
Many thanks

28-Oct-12
I enjoyed the climb to GZ. Took a wee while to find while admiring the great views. TFTC.

Was concerned about my Vertigo but no problem.
Found it as I headed home. TFTC.

12-Aug-12
wow this one was to keep me looking for a while went up the carpark side very slippery had to get it before the bro in law and we did .T4TC

14-Jul-12
don't climb up from the sea side like I did, that was just stupid. down the car park side was a lot easier

17-Jun-12
Remember the fall doesnt hurt but the stop at the end is the killer.
Good cache, great view

13-Jun-12
Good to go!

08-Apr-12
The views were superb, fantastic day to look down on all the boats launching. TFTc

25-Mar-12
A great site. Cache hint was very helpful, thanks. Wasn't expecting such a pleasant ascent and scramble. Well worn trails suggest people visit here often.

21-Mar-12
had fun finding it with a friena at night nearly felt down the tree

21-Mar-12
Since the rain had stopped, we were collecting a few more caches.
And I loved this one!!

The spot was absolutely gorgeous! It did take us a while to get up there, and it was starting to spit again, and the entire bank was muddy and slippery, and we only had one torch, but we did make it up there in the end! And whew was the view worth it! The lights, and the cars, and the boats. Everything.

So, we decided to attempt to find this cache now... well, I climbed all over and under the tree... no luck... And as I was heading back to my friend, to grab the torch off her, I spotted something... and no, it wasn't just rubbish! It was the cache in fact! Smile Yus!!

Fully worth a favourite for the location Smile

TFTC!! Smile

Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.

Thought we should try to complete the caches closest to home.

Questioned ourselves if the tree would hold, it did, however it wasnt needed to retrieve the cache.

Cache replaced and log double bagged.

04-Jan-12
First time out I searched the wrong elevation and had no luck. Today I figured out exactly where I needed to go pretty quickly and the cache was easy to find. Despite the rust, the container is still in fair condition but could stand to be replaced. Thanks for a clever little hide in a neat spot. TFTC!

This was part of my first serious mission into the realm of the T.A.P.C.C., and a day of finding six anomalies, the most I have found in a single day to date. On this day I also found...

GC28K0T
GC2QQFN
GC20G7T
GC18V48
GC28P61
The view from the top of the hill was nice, as the tide was high at the time. I was dreading the thought of having to step out onto the Pohutukawa tree that was hanging tenaciously to the edge of the cliff. I wouldn't even tie the Airship Halberg to it, let alone test my own weight on it. Fortunately this proved to be unnecessary anyway, and the temporal anomaly was found without risking life and limb.

I noticed some sort of oxide layer around the circumference of the anomaly. It may be starting to degrade. This is quite a small anomaly, so not much in the way of flotsam here. See my track log for a graphical representation of my hunt for anomalies in the Collective's region.

Searched several potential areas before reading the hint which then lead me directly to the cache.

The container held a small amount of rust coloured water which I was not aware of until I shook it and covered myself in the orange liquid.

The logbook was very wet, although it seemed to have waterproof pages. I dried the pages as best I could before returning.

Last cache for a very long day. Scrambled up the slippery hill, rooted around, and then tofska spotted it, and I retrieved and logged it. Cheers Gav [8168]

Just about to give up and I spotted the hide. Nice one. The log is a triffle damp, but the log appears to be waterproof? Thanks

Neat spot for a cache. Pretty slippery there today. TFTC

Took a little while to find as I was searching the whole area. Looked behind me and found straight away. Nice cache. Interesting area, and interesting tree formation. Looks like it will soon go though.

Just realised I never submitted this find from earlier in the year while compiling a list of Te Atatu Caches I have yet to discover. Great cache. Loved the climbing around. Awesome fun.

22-Feb-11
This was a really cool cache!! Really enjoyed hunting around GZ before finding making the find. Thanks heaps Smile

11-Feb-11
One night out caching in South Te Atatu. Got the itch to cache this evening and was not going to be stopped by the impending dark! Last cache of the night then home to bed! Okay, looks like I need to take this trail up the cliff side. Right, better check hint for this as it is a bit close to the cliff edge given the level of darkness. Spotted a likely candidate--No cache. Climbed over the tree roots like a gymnist before steeping off near the cliff edge. Okay, lets think this through..."Hey, what is that in the torch light right by the first place I checked?!" Not sure this cache should be endorsed for night caching. Cheers for the adventure!

16:42 A fairly easy find. I was a bit wary of the cliff, but in the end it was a pretty simple affair. Nice meeting you today ishoot (elsewhere). TFTC

Didn't see any of the launch methods being used today. Thanks.

2nd time looking for this one, last time was pretty wet and I gave up. Today I went down the hole and wasnt till I turned to get out I saw it.

03-Oct-10
It is time to go out West again today to pick up a few more caches. This is the fourteenth for the morning. I was here 2.5 months ago and spent a lot time and not finding the cache. Today I had the cache in hand within 1 minute. I'm certain I looked there before. But then you know what thought thought.

Cheers for the cache.
