#4204Came out this way this morning on mountain bike with Turtle to find a few caches. He'd already been here, but was kind enough to let me stop for a few on the way. Huffing and puffing with great intensity. TFTC
Today marks me streaking for 3 years.
No better way to celebrate this than with a Tankengine trifecta.
I didn't stop for a picnic here, even though I was tempted. It was quite lovely with the creek flowing.
The area the cache is in has a sign asking not to enter as it is a revegetation area, but you can get to the cache without disturbing much. Just watch where you step.

#4177 No picnic for me here today but it is certainly a tranquil spot that I had to myself. The crossing was lightly flowing and the container was easily located at GZ. Thanks again TE for bringing me to another lovely area.

I DNF'd this cache back in 2018, over 3 years ago! Turns out it was missing, and the CO had it replaced in just over a week!
Last time I came from the correct side of the creek, this time we came from the opposite side! I didn't want to drive across, but it wasn't very wide in certain places so we managed to jump.
Has taken me this long to finally come back out here, but it was worth the wait. Today the coordinates were spot on, and we spotted the hide before we could even stop our feet from walking!
Thanks Tankengine for keeping this one maintained
**Today:**
The "Adventure Boys" consisting of DARKSIDEDAN, Sui_001, sebass19 and myself were very keen to give the new "Scary Movies" series a crack ASAP since seeing it come out the other night!
sebass19 and myself met up a couple hours early to do some extra caching in the Cotter before the other two arrived, as Dan didn't clock off work until 5pm. We grabbed a variety of caches before meeting the Dan and Sui in the Cotter at 5:45pm to start our convoy to the series.
Haven't had this much fun for a while, highly recommend this series to everyone! Make sure you come prepared with a couple hours up your sleeve for the full experience, and bring friends as it won't be as fun to do alone!
Finally got back home at 8:30pm and straight to bed for a 5am wake-up the next morning....zzzzz!

A plan has been hatching for a trip to Pipeline Road for a while now - will I won’t I and when - so with a couple of new caches out in the area it was all systems go. Just had to wait for daylight! Alas too late for the FTF but plenty of others to keep me entertained.
All caches in good condition unless otherwise noted.
Grateful thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining the caches that continue to entertain me on my caching journey.

A good day for a quick drive around Pierces Creek forest, mostly targeting the Mineshaft series.
This was a nice diversion - a quick hop across the creek and cache was found without issue, and as is usual for a TE cache the log is in meticulous condition.
Thanks, Tankengine.

Tankengine and I decided to go for a ride today and the Pipeline Road looked pretty good to do it.
The weather was nice and cool (until lunchtime), the views were wonderful and the birds chirping magical.
The caching was pretty good too. We had a couple of multis to complete and a couple of new caches to put out too.
It was a long ride (26.6km all up), but although I thought I would die by the end of it, it was worth it.
This cache: As we were driving right by we had to stop for this one. A nice quick find and a sweet little spot it was too. Tftc Tankengine!!!

What a great location. Would never have been here otherwise. Thanks for placing this cache.
Found with Kittykatch and Albida out the back of the Cotter picking up some caches in the area. enjoying our time in area. Lovely day to be out and about. TFTC Tankengine
Found today with Joolay and Albida33 on a 4wd trek at the back of the Cotter. Cool spot
Condition Report:. Good and dry
Log Status:. Lots of room

We had planned to continue a bit further but our trek out from the falls was a bit more energetic than we had anticipated. So instead we detoured to this cache. A beautiful spot and noone else around today. This would make a great camping area. But we were stopped later on by a ranger and we asked about it and there is no camping allowed here. A quick find at gz before a careful crossing of the ford and onwards! Tftc
Hot day to be caching but 4wd air-con makes it a pleasant day. Creek was flowing. Thanks for placing.
Beaut little spot to stop and rest or have a picnic . Found the goods with spot on co ords and only me and Roos enjoying the tranquility.
Many thanks to Tankengine .
Many thanks to Tankengine .
Decided to check on this today, and noticed that it was missing. Cache has been replaced - good to go!
Hmmmm not a good sign here, also failed to find this cache like the previous person. Despite having two eyes and only 1 small tree at GZ that the cache could be hanging in.
We searched the whole tree and couldn't see anything hanging in it. I also searched the ground a little bit to see if it had fallen but who knows how long ago that could of happened
Thanks anyway Tankengine for bringing me to a place I haven't visited before!

Sunday 24 September 2017 - a beautiful sunny Spring day with blustery winds in the open higher areas. We came back this weekend to complete a multi not finished last weekend as well as others for which we had ran out of time. Walked over 7km for about 3 hrs to find 4 from 4 caches (3 trads, 1 multi).
This cache is in a peaceful location well protected from today's high winds and lovely to see the creek gently flowing across the low concrete crossing. Such a shame that there is so much litter/rubbish left in this area including plastic dinner plates, beer bottles and drink cans. Thx p2p. TFTC Tankengine.

Found on a windy, wet and cold day. Must bring the family out here to camp. TNLNSL TFTC
On a Sunday morning venture with Noikmeister to find some unloved caches and free some TBs.
This was on our route, so we stopped for me to collect. Nice picnic area. Soon found and signed. TFTC TE

Very quiet out here today. Grass not too long yet, so no issues getting to the cache. Log a little damp as O-ring has gone.
Thanks,
Thanks,

I spotted a new cache during the afternoon, and a plan came together for my evening to collect the caches between the Cotter Dam and Paddy's River Road. I managed to find some dirt roads that took me within striking distance, then jumped on the bike for an hour and a half of sight seeing and picking up all 6 caches. I saw a total of 8 emus and of course many kangaroos - a GoPro would have been good to have to capture them crossing the road in front of me. This one was found after the ride as I was heading back out to the Paddy's River Road. Easily found. TFTC.

#1708 I was in the area, again, so I crossed the shallow crossing to arrive at GZ. I made the quick find. Log was quite damp, as there is no o-ring on the cache. TFBMHA Tankengine.
A nice day for a walk. Spent a few hours walking around south of Cotter Dam for three caches. Parked at Settlement Road gate, some cars drove past me but with a no entry sign and the possibility of it being locked on my return, (and it was a beautiful day,) I walked. Wet feet in crossing the causeway. Log was quite wet so i signed very carefully to stop ripping the log. TFTC.
Beautiful spot! The cache log was damp though, so veeeery carefully signed it. Probably illegible!
Hmm. Interesting day, and a nice cache. I've briefly attended the meet n greet, because I have four dogs with me, which are not allowed at the Cotter. This is my first find since the event, but the fourth one I've tried - the other three were behind gates and 1080 baits, or in no dog areas, so I had to give them a miss. Then I find the Vanity's Crossing road is closed. I wonder if it's before or after the cache further on. It was before the cache, and more 1080 laid. Never mind. Thanks, Tankengine.
Found while driving around Pierces Creek Forest trying out the new 4WD. A nice little spot.

Plans were set in place with AngelG27 to go on a mini mission to finally make the nab on a puzzle we'd both solved as well as nabbing a few others along the way
This one was the first find of the day, and AngelG27 spied the hide for the find here
Thanks for yet another, Tankengine

Went on a morning geocaching mission with Specimen X to collect a puzzle we had both solved and a few caches on the way. We collected the puzzle and a couple of other random traditional caches along the way. All in all, a really fun and successful mission.
Unfortunately, this route did not take us close enough to where we needed to be, and we did not really fancy making a long walk in the heat that was building up. So we turned around, so I could practice my dirt road driving skills (again) and collected this cache on the way out. A quick find at GZ fortunately, and a nice place to stop. The crossing only had a little water going across it, so a nice easy drive back to Paddy's River road. Thanks Tankengine!

Today we explored Pierces Creek State Forest collecting so more caches in the area, enjoyed the scenery and the back roads, using geocaching as a guide.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

A pretty spot. The cache though was a little easier than some other Tankengine hides we have attempted.
Thanks Tankengine.
Thanks Tankengine.
Came out here today with G and D. We stopped here for a picnic lunch. They'd both found this one before, and it didn't take me long to have CIH. On the way here we saw some kangaroos and some emus. TFTC
Deciding to take the geo-truck for a caching 4wd adventure today with allrounder and Shadow! We made this the first find on the way into the tracks I was looking forward to doing. The weather was perfect for a day out in the scrub.

Took the short detour to this from the set of caches just up the road. Laughed at the previous log entry in the book too!
Nice area near Vanities Crossing where we used to do a lot of 4WD in the 90's
A sad area now. It used to be a very popular picnic spot and starting place for 4WD practise. Close for no good reason in my view. TFTC
1975. Another drive by while in this neck of the woods. A quick find and an interesting spot to visit. No picnic here today and looks like the main area is closed to access. Thanks TE for the cache.
After ticking off Cotter Construction II it was off to grab a couple more before the sun set on the long weekend We drove in along the firetrail and parked just before the ford crossing and it was on foot from here as we started our walk. It was a short walk to GZ and a nice easy find. We were a little concerned that the cache might have been cleaned up but nope there it was safe and sound .
Thanks Tankengine we have been wanting to do these caches for a while.

Nice little spot.
Difficult to retrieve this one. I think the big log had settled in the last few months since this was last found and it didn't want to come out, so had put some debris over it for the re-hide. TFTC

Well with a cache name like this, what do you do? Have a Picnic, thats what!
We let the GeoHound out and she really did enjoy having a swim, running smelling rabbits and even coming across a dead kangaroo (yes, when we did get home, she had a bath!)
Got the blankets out, some morning tea and sat in the sun listening to the river run and peaceful serenity. A couple of unregistered bikes zoomed passed at one point however they did not hang around.
The cache was found relatively quickly and GeoKid Snr eyed off some space badges. Stocking up the Geo Swag GeoKid Snr was so pleased to swap his toys for the badges.
We finished our goodies, packed up and thought we possibly have enough time to grab a couple more prior to heading home to get some jobs done.

Nothing like a big couple of logs to climb under, over and around for a four year old boy. Tops fun.
Thanks.
Thanks.
About the only other close road one I had loaded in the GPS, and thankfully a power adapter.
After a brief search, found in the most awkward of spots.

A quick grab thanks to the long arms of SB half of TNGD. Signed log: TNGD. TFTC!
It was a lovely today as we has the spot for ourselves. But you can tell from all the garbage around GZ that other like to hang out here too. Was worried it was gone seeing all the signs of activity but also no one would go and stick his hand in there. Long arms were also essential. Dino and Pebbles did swaps and Pebbles was happy with this cache and left her PT. (they were keen on doing that).
Thanks Tankengine for the cache.
Then we tried our luck driving on to the Vanities despite the sign already telling us the road would be closed....

Given that I was looking for a place to eat lunch, I thought this cache sounded perfect, so I headed the hire car down the road. All was well until I came to an un passable river crossing!! Oh well, turn around and back up the dirt road, time to find another place for lunch. (picture to follow, when I get back home to Melbourne)
We had a picnic at Pierces Picnic. I visited here for the first time last weekend but was running so couldn't stop. Drove in this time. Nice spot. Cheers.
Simple find. Thanks for the cache.
A couple of cm of water over the nearby crossing for a little splash on the way through. Thanks.

Nice quick find on the way to Seriously, what is it? II. Nice spot and I imagine it would of been a beautiful spot in years gone by but run down now. TFTC.
Out for a drive in the countryside with Black Bunny and Just a cacher.
Good place to stop. Picked up some litter, liked the river, found the cache.

Another find on our world-wide tour of the Cotter. Well hidden, and seemed to have survived the recent flooding.
A peaceful spot to stop and rest. We didn't really need a rest at this point, nor did we have a picnic (it was a little early still for that), but we did stop by on the way back whilst N cooled his tootsies in the river.
(8:44 AM) Found out clearing part of this side of the river with BatGirl. Did a reccy out as far as this yesterday and there was a group of 5 emus on the far side of the clearing. Today I was quite surprised to park within 5 metres of the cache. A true drive-by. Thanks TE.
Called in to find this one after Saturate. Maybe it's me, but I think you would need some imagination to see this as a picnic area. It is currently covered in tall grass. Anyway, a quick find in the rain, and we logged in the car to keep the contents dry. Thanks Tankengine.
2nd of the afternoon and the first of a few in this area.
The water was running over the crossing at decent rate, but the 4x4 had no problem and then managed to park about 10 metres from GZ. Cache took a few minutes to locate, but all was good and with the log signed, it was back across the crossing and off to the pump.
Thanks Tankengine, glad to finally get out here.

Reperio at 1245. After a few mishaps at 'Pierces Pump', I was looking forward to a much simpler effort to grab this one. Drove up and parked 50m away from GZ and walked across the crossing to GZ. The cache was quickly spotted and retrieved before heading back to the car. Jumped in the car, swung it around to drive away, and the front wheels sagged down into the edge of the track...bogged.....God damn it...So, spent the next few minutes on hands and knees to dig out the dirt around the tires...punched it into reverse, and got out....Yippee. Nice little spot. Found it very relaxing by the water.
Gratias TE.

An early morning rise to get a few caches before having to be home by 9.15am. This was my third find of the day. The water was flowing well over the crossing but still not high enough to be of a worry for my car. Cache was found quickly and in good condition. TNLN Many thanks for the cache TankEngine!
Our 2nd find for the day, (were excelling compared to normal) and last for today.
Love a good easy drive by, especially after a long day in the mud up in the hills.

My second for the day today and I actually drove past this one about an hour before it was published so I had to come back. Not that I mind, there were more caches to get and I always love driving around here. Thanks TE for the cache.

On my way out to Tidbinbilla on a hiding mission - was very foggy so I thought I would deviate in here to give the sun some more time to defrost the fog. Very gloomy but the creek sounded wonderful Noone else about at this time of the morning.
Back in the 1980's this used to be a nice open picnic area, and the creek crossing here had a special name. (I remember).
Gave the car a good wash today, quite a bit of water. Thanks for the memories.

After our near miss yesterday (and the irony that we drove passed here going and coming back out....) for some bizarre reason, we decided that this cache was on the way to work [:o] and would therefore qualify as a driveby. We were initially confused at GZ (as was the GPS), but soon spotted the cache and the nice, clean log.
SIgned the log and snaffled the GC.
TFTC, TE and the opportunity to come out here two days in a row!!! At least we didn't leave it for this afternoon!!!

Crossed here many times on the way to vanity's crossing.
As I got to GZ and started looking a friendly police officer pulled up for a quick chat. Good to see these areas are being looked after.
Found the cache in the rain before heading on. Didn't see any geocoins in there though...
L: Bulldozer TB to help with the mud!
