Today we went to the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. In addition to many animals such as turtles, koalas, kangaroos, bandicot and birds, we also found a few of the geocaches laid out. Thank you for putting the caches !This cache could also be found. Thank you very much.
12:00we spent this day in tidbinbilla nature reserve where we saw many unusual, beautiful species like koalas, potoroos, birds, butterflies and many more.thanks for the cache.
Visiting from Virginia USA, caching on Black Mountain on a beautiful day. Used our geosenses for this one. TFTC
Here with the tour group of geocachers as part of the Capital GeoBash Mega. Its a gorgeous day to be discovering the sanctuary. Our tour guide is fantastic. Thanks for the geocache!
Found today with Buckoraider and our Mega international guests: Love and CherryWe handled the poking activities, just in case of small creatures appeared. But it was all super safe and sound in GZ
Nipped off the trail to pick this up after a wonderful stroll through the Tidbinbilla Wetlands. The Peppermint Trail was a delightful addendum to proceedings, especially alongside a couple of guests from the US of A.Good times had by allthanks Agent Basil!
We had been out caching well north of Canberra and on a trip back we got enticed to go to Tidbinbilla to see some Koalas. After a very hot day it was nice to enjoy the shade and greenery of Tidbinbilla where the air was cooler and the breeze was pleasant.Just inside the koala compound we could see four koalas. Looked like two adults and two kids. The area around Mountain Creek is unusually green after all the summer rains. The creek making a beautiful gurgling sound to accompany the birds and other wildlife. The trails are in excellent condition.TFTC
A beautiful day in the Tidbinbilla park today. We saw koalas, platypuses, kangaroos and a red-bellied snake (and of course some caches).Found this cache without any problems
Although the trails have changed, since the fires, the coordinates were very accurate, and led us straight to GZ. This undulating Trail with beautiful Woodland and granite boulders is really quite special. We enjoyed this walk immensely. Thanks Agent Basil Domsky
It was not so easy to find this cache. We had to spend quite some time searching around. The terrain has changed a bit. Great location! Was here on 29.10.23 together with Flintstones.TFTC
Another nice walk along the trail .
Only one snake yesterday and none today ,
Thanks for the cache hide.

Spent an arvo re-exploring Tidbinbilla- nice and quiet there today, so perfect conditions for finding a few caches in the usually busy spots
Had some fun out at TNR after lunch today. I had some funds to clear up, until next time, and I was ever hopeful I might bag a FTF while I was at it.
Three very cute koalas at home today, munching on gum leaves and sleeping I had a lovely peaceful stroll around the enclosure and both caches were quick easy finds.
Thanks for the caches Agent Basil

Out with my family enjoying the reserve. My daughter was so pleaaed to see the koalas, even if they only eat and sleep.
Very cute and fluffy.
While passing by the cache I could hear a lyre bird doing its song. clever things.

Found with Sophiescout and Jemalong and Family on a great day of walking and caching this wonderful reserve. Clouds have lifted and the sun is shining. TFTC
Found with my mum while on a late afternoon outing in Tidbinbilla. I haven't visited the koala enclosure the years now, it was nice to see a family and baby hanging around. A pleasant walk along the Peppermint Trail with bare feet in order to acclimatise and strengthen them. Diverted off the track to GZ and made a quick find. Our thanks to Agent Basil!
The GeoKids and I had a lovely day exploring Tidbinbilla and finding caches. This cache was a straightforward find at GZ, thanks Agent Basil! Loved the family of koalas in the enclosure near the carpark...
Out at Tidbinbilla again to day and picked up this cache while on a walk around the koala enclosure.
As in previous posts I was tempted to go bush bashing to get this one but read the description and decided to follow Agent Basil's advice and stay on the path. That turned out to be very sound advice and the cache was quickly found.
I thought I'd had a major win when I opened this cache but a closer inspection revealed it to just be a clever log.

Lovely day for a wander around parts of Tidbinbilla that I haven't seen yet. Find #5. TFTC
Was so tempted to go across country for this one but bowed to the superior knowledge of Agent Basil and stuck doggedly to the track! Warm and very steamy today after all the recent rain - cache all good, thanku.
This is a lovely walk through here but we were starting to feel the heat of the day. Great bush and grasses. TFTC
A mid week visit to Tidbinbilla and I was the only person on this trail - just as well because I do not like going off trail when other folks are about. A quick & easy find. TFTC.
Easy to get to, and fairly well covered, but it had to be in there!
All good. Thanks,
All good. Thanks,
It was very windy today so I abandoned my original walk and headed to this sheltered valley. I thought the wind through the trees might encourage the koalas to come down lower in the trees but had no luck in spotting them apart from the four at the gate. I saw some very cute small wallabies. And this cache was a straightforward find. TFTC

...on a quickish trip to Canberra and surrounds.
Spoiled by our wonderful hosts who we shared the sights of this Capitol City with.
We came here with an aim to spy a Koala, as both of us have never seen one in the "wild" = our wish came true !, we strolled all over these trails enjoying the local wildlife and their behaviors. All very inquisitive and interested in us, as we were of them.

**This Cache**
We only spotted two signs along the path today and they were both 4 days old! So maybe that is why we didn't spot any, they have been in hideout!
Another quick cache along this trail, did the entire loop and was a really great walk
Thanks Agent Basil once again!

**The Day:**
Myself and DSD planned a huge day out to Tidbinbilla to find as many caches as we could! An early start leaving Canberra at 7am, grabbing some food along the way and walking out to the first cache to make a find at 8:30am.
We clocked up 40,000 steps, which was 30km of walking over 9 hours! We also managed to walk on parts of 11 out of the 20 trails within the nature reserve, and didn't have a single DNF which was quite amazing given the amount of unloved, and previous DNF's a couple of the caches had!
An awesome day was had, with perfect weather and lots of fun along the way!

Easy find spotted a Satin Bower Bird but no koalas.

We clocked up over 40,000 steps, which was 30km of walking over 9 hours! We also managed to claim 6 years of un-love in total for the caches we found during the day. Came out with Youban and Tankengine to go for a stroll around the area and pick up a couple of outstanding caches we had as well.
It was a lovely day, not too hot, not too cold and with the overcast conditions - no sunburn!
We saw a lot of wildlife like the koalas, long-nosed potaroos, wallabies, swans, turtles and others. The volunteers were very helpful and informative and it was tricky sometimes to ensure they and other muggles weren't too close when we were finding the caches.
With this cache, we parked at the assigned car park and walked in through the gates to visit the koalas. There was the cutest nine-month-old baby koala there. And I was amazed that there were signs along the path showing where and when a koala had been sighted.
But the area was lovely, the walk nice and with good company and conversations. Tftc Agent Basil!!!

Spotted a variety of wildlife with the family on the way to this one. A lovely walk. TFTC.
Junior geokid is getting the knack of caching & found this one. Great track all round - koalas, wallaroos, potaroos, granite boulders, trees & caches TFTC!
Motivated to do some extra exercise, I cycled to Tidbinbilla to do some little walks and some geocaching... now, it's avout the same distance for me to get here as it it to get to the city, but boy is it a much harder trek! I had to pedal quite hard and refuel with an ice cream at the visitor's centre before heading back in the evening. I actually found myself envying those casual cyclists with their prissy narrow-tyred road bikes!
It was late afternoon by the time I got to the Koala sanctuary trail. A very pleasant place to walk! I didn't see Koalas besides the ones at the entrance, but my word, were there so many bettongs and potaroos underfoot!

Sunday 3 December 2017 - an overcast damp warm Summer's afternoon enjoying a few raindrops, a bike ride then a number of walks totaling approx. 4.5km to find 5 from 5 caches. Quick and easy find. Thx p2p. TFTC Agent_Basil.

After a Canberra Bushwalking Club walk to Devil's Gap and beyond (on which one of the group broke her ankle and so cut short the walk), I and a muggle visited the Koalas and wandered the Peppermint trail. We were rewarded with seeing several potaroos and a bandicoot. Cache quickly found. TFTC.

A quick find after a long hike up/over/around and back over the other side of the valley. TNLNSL TFTC
Had the nephew with me today, add to my lot and I had a need for a trip out to Tidbinbilla with an energy burning exercise in mind! First time caching for the nephew and once he spotted the log it took a while to convince him it wasn't real and even if it was its not for keeps! Always a great visit and the walk through to today in the cold and occasion light drizzle was still enjoyable. (The very quiet car trip home was also very enjoyable!) Thanks for the cache Agent Basil!
Out for a caching adventure to Tidbinbilla with JuSoJaRa
After collecting Koala Encounter we continued our way admiring along the way the crystal clear waters. After a quick search the cache was in hand. Thanks for bringing us out this way.

Enjoyed the peppermint trail around with dty73 and the geokids. No Koalas spotted out around the area today but wallabies everywhere and even a couple of bettong, one that was very unmoved by our being there! Perhaps we missed this but couldn't find the cache today, just a likely spot with possibly what used to cover it.
Like previous search parties, couldn't find this one. I think it needs checking by CO as it is most likely not there. Previous photos of others who have found it, show quite clearly where it should be and it isn't.
Nothing in the most obvious container other than what previously may have been covering the cache. Suspect this one has been muggled.
Fourth birthday cache find today. An easy find at GZ. Just as I pulled out the log I spotted a good sized kookaburra land in the tree not far away. Once I'd tucked the cache back in place, I moved as quietly as I could towards the tree but it flew off. It didn't go far. We played cat and mouse for a while along the track then finally it landed in a branch and stayed there, as curious of me as I was of it. TFTC Agent Basil
I made an early morning visit to Tidbinbilla on this perfect summer's day, arriving just after the gates opened. There was almost no-one around today (even later on) - probably all at the Multicultural Festival. Aside from rangers and volunteers, the only other visitors I saw in the park today were a couple of women and a cute kid here at the koala bit. There were four koalas resting in the shelter at the entrance. I didn't see any others, but I didn't really look too hard (the four satisfied me).
The Peppermint Trail was glorious this morning, with the peppermint scents hanging thickly in the air. Thank you for luring me here, Basil, and TFTC

Quick find with the geo-kids on a walk through the area. Decided to try a couple of walks after the playground got too hot. Lovely spot, we saw three Koalas on this walk. TFTC
A beautiful trail to wander along and we really enjoyed our stroll our here today. An easy find at GZ and only a few days ago there was a koala very nearby, but not today that we could find. Thanks Agent Basil
Actually found by Zaccy. Was doing some geocaching with family friend kids. Everyone seemed to be having fun. TFTC.
We continued on along the snaking peppermint trail, our gaze still fixed in the upward direction. Didn't spot any Koalas outside the enclosure today, but at least we found the caches . Really is a lovely spot for a stroll and we will have to make sure we come back again. Still plenty of adorable wallabies around and managed to get quite close up to what are normally very shy creatures. We had no problems at GZ and the cache was quickly in hand. A very enjoyable walk amongst the Eucalypts today, TFTC Agent Basil.
Found on Koala and geocache hunt with some international visitors. Success on both departments. Thanks for putting the cache in here. Another reason to come! (not that you need to many excuses!)
TFTC - easy find - didnt see any koalas besides the ones at the gate. Worth a stroll around.
Lovely walk in the enclosure, we even found one of them up a tree, so made our trip even more rewarding. Thank you for getting us back out here to this magic piece of bushland with another of your caches.
Quick find while out and about trying to spot koalas up in the trees. Many TFTC!
A Canberra Bushwalking Club caching specific walk (you can do that when you’re the leader). Some caches on the Ridge and some more in the valley. Trip report at http://www.johnevans.id.au/wp/?p=5196 . TFTC.
Enthusiastically found by the geokids. Some passing Rangers asked us what we were up to... on explaining they've decided to combine their outdoor duties with some cache hunting
Thought I would do a few caches around Tidbinbilla before my annual entry pass expires. A few easy ones and a few medium / tough ones. Walked about 20 kilometres for the day. Need to return to finish a few more at a future date. TFTCs.
Found this one unintentionally yesterday while out walking the peppermint trail with some friends that were visiting from sydney. It wasnt in my plan to go geocaching that day but one of them spotted it and we had a look. Lo and behold, a geocache! TNLN SL. thanks for the unexpected surprise
TFTC again! A few less ants than the other one on the trail. The boys enjoyed finding it.
We were in the area, so simply had to divert to find this cache. All the more reason to enjoy a nice walk. Thanks AB.
We really enjoyed our walk in this area today. Very suitable for 2 & 3 y/olds. They love being able to find the 'treasure' without too much bush bashing or too long walk. We did the big circuit (Both). No koalas though but you can't have it all. TFTC...eatmorchikin & Stigglepot, Brisbane
2013: 199 Days In A Row - A great walk around the peppermint trail. Fraggles came up with the find of the day spotting a koala! We've done this walk before, but it was nice to do it again and pick up a smiley for our troubles. TFTC!
We have come here many times to see the Koala in its enclosure but due to the maintenance, the little fella wasn't there. So off we went down the peppermint trail telling the kids to look out for our furry friends but thinking to ourselves we wont find one. With all the trees everywhere how could we? So you could imagine my surprise when I causally glanced over my shoulder and saw a Koala staring back at me! The kids we so happy and so was I.
Unfortunately it was only days before that we were watching a TV show that stated that Koala poo smell like Eucalyptus, so what did T-rex do, pick some up broke in half and had a smell, in fact he shared it around so we all could smell it. I must say it was the nicest smelling poo, I have ever smelt. lol.
After the smelling, Wasptor took the coords of the Koala tree and I dropped it off to the information centre on our way out. They seemed to be impressed that a tourist took GPS coords of the Koala; decided against the idea as to tell them why we had one.
Thanks for the cache Basil!!!!!!!

We hit the peppermint trail after a BBQ at the adventure playground. We saw two potoroos and one sleeping koala on our way around the loop.
The cache was quickly spotted and the log book signed: it was a wet inside but the container appeared to be in good working order and the O-ring is still in place so not sure how water got in.

the_proton pointed out a little hopping creature that we observed quietly until it jumped across our path and we came to the conclusion that it was a potaroo. When we found the cache we were involved in signing duties when some very starey muggles walked right past us. TFTC.
Another nice path we walked spotting a potaroo as well as some wallabies, but no koalas today for us. Love seeing these creatures just hanging out in the bush.
Found the cache fairly easily but as we were signing it sitting on a nearby log some muggles walked past looking very interested (although we don't think they actually worked out what on earth we were up to). Sat down and chatted while we waited for them to disappear into the distance before replacing the cache. Spotted quite a few more wallabies on the way back to the car, another great spot. Thanks Agent Basil!

Found while on a small caching afternoon in Tidbinbilla. This morning we wandered around The Sanctuary getting the answers for Tidbinbilla Tranquility. After finding the GZ co-ords we drove to the start of the trail before leaving the reserve. Last time we tried to find this the track was closed for repairs or something. Today it was a very nice walk to GZ and along the way, we saw a small wallaby in his little area eating some nibblies; plus a little rock wallaby (I think) on the bridge near the carpark. There were muggle families on either side of us, so we had to make the perfect timing to look at GZ. After the first group went in front, the search at GZ started. Took a few minutes, but after looking at the GPS a few time - ah, there it is. Nice hide on a lovely walking track. Great to finally walk on this trail, very nice. TNLNSL. TFTC AB!

First find for the day. We were planing a couple of walks around this area and today was the day.
After GeoSon Snrs swimming lessons we packed a picnic lunch and drove out. Unfortunately we sat down as the start of the walk to eat some lunch only to be harassed by european wasps. Lunch was eaten very quickly and we were soon off to spot some Koalas and caches.
We started the walk and was quickly rewarded by spotting a Koala. GeoSon Snr was so excited, he even had his binoculars. We enjoyed the walk around and was soon rewarded by spotting a cache. Was a quick find for GeoSon, who although we have not been caching much this first half of the year still has his 'caching eyes'.
Thanks for the Cache.

A beautiful walk - saw one koala in its natural habitat and then found your cache. Thanks AB!
This was our last find in Tidbinbilla today. It was a spontaneous short trip here to help my dad break in his new GPSr. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to see a Koala or 2, so this cache was a must! The 'cage' at the entrance was closed for maintenance so there weren't any koalas to be seen there. We walked the koala trail for awhile, with our eyes searching the tree tops, passing the Peppermint trail while looking for the elusive bears. Eventually passed someone who told us there was a little fellow hiding up a tree nearby so we continued along the path till we found him. CUTE! We stayed and watched him for awhile before turning back to find the Peppermint Trail again. We searched for wallabies and any other wildlife, but only lizards came out to greet us. It was a very easy and enjoyable walk with a cool breeze blowing, which we appreciated on this warm summer day. The cache was found well hidden and in good condition. We left a lizard TB as it seemed to be the perfect place for it to reside for awhile.
Another big thank you, Agent Basil, for placing a cache here! Look forward to finding more in Tidbinbilla soon!

Good sized cache that hasn't seen much traffic lately. Found this cache much more easily than the elusive koalas.
With the GeoKids in tow I thought that this would make a nice third cache for the day. Unfortunately, the enclosure is closed and locked due to storm damage.
I am unsure when it is going to re-open however this one cannot be founds until the gates are re-opened.
Unless of course- there is another way to the cache?

Beautiful trail with some beautiful scents.
Last one before a lunch stop. Saw the lazy koala by the gate and some swamp wallabies. The rangers said there was a Bower Bird a bit further up the trail but no-one saw him.

At first I thought this might be a quick drive-by but then I realised we were on the wrong side of the fence. Never mind...it's still not far and it's a nice easy walk until you realise what we found. None other than the fierce and ferocious Peppermint Were-Wallaby!!!!!! We were lucky to escape unscathed!
Found with Batgirl & Co., MtnLioness and OneHippieChick. A great day out doing some group caching so the ACT visitors could get their 15 Tidbinbilla finds for a Agent Basil pathtag. Cache found in good order. TFTC Agent Basil.
Found in the company of Batgirl & Co., rbirtles and OneHippieChick. SAw the gate was locked but when we came in from the right way, Rangers had come in that same gate and had left it ajar a bit, grrr, could have waited a bit. Had a chat to them when they came back and they told us about the Swamp Wallabies nearby and some Bower Birds they saw earlier but we never saw those. Rushed off to find something after chatting for too long!
Not sure why it's called Peppermint Trail cos all i could smell was a strong eucalyptus scent!
