For the sake of sanity we set off with sonia26642 for a crazy geocaching trip, aiming to cache until we drop. The main destination was Nelson and the ‘surrounding’ area, but then we ended up covering a few miles in three northernmost regions, plus a few in Canterbury. We were signing/stamping the log as 'Team Polak' or ‘TP’ for the two of us on this trip to save logbook space. We found a lot of different caches, city ones, road side, park side, up a hill and on an island, and we enjoyed every single one of them. It was good to be a professional thingfinder for a few days!
We had great fun and are grateful to all CO’s who placed caches for us to find, and help restore our sanity before returning to our other non-geocaching lives!!
Come and join us the next New Zealand geocaching MEGA event!! Register your interest now at www.nzmega2015.com to receive newsletter updates and be the first to know. It will be a great event, come and be a part of it!!

This was one of the most epic weeks ever, and definitely my most epic caching week ever.
Me and mum headed up on a holiday north to Nelson and very wider surrounds. In total during the trip, we found almost 500 caches! (470 odd I think, but final results are yet to be in! ) We covered about 3000 odd km I think too. Crazy! And had our absolute best caching day ever too at 160 found. Spend 9 days travelling, caching, and having the best time ever!!
So sorry about not so epic logs, as otherwise this would probably take me the rest of my life to log, especially with two big events to organise coming up! Eeek!!
Almost every single log we signed as 'Team Polak' to avoid needing to write out both usernames taking up space on logsheet - as well as precious caching time!! Haha.

[green] On a day excursion from Blenheim to Nelson with Taybee and TaybeeNZ. Rained over the hill but nice and clear here. This is my first trip with the Taybee Clan and I got my introduction to their technique. Taybee points in the general direction and TaybeeNZ dashes off, finds and retrieves the cache before I have a chance to blink. They are a pretty awesome team to watch!
I didn't make the connection between the cache title (Why would you call a cache that??) and the sign I read at the cache site, until now, logging the cache and reading the page. Duh! Obvious! Slight confusion with the private property sign. We grabbed the cache anyway, then we realised that the road here is a cycle way, so so much for the private property bit.

Found it but it is sopping wet inside even the log bag. Log is soppy and breaking up and needs to be replaced.
Almost dnfed, but after a longer and closer look earned the smiley. Found on a bit of a bike ride from Richmond to Rabbit Island, and almost Mapua (if we had made the ferry). Thanks for the hide.
Had to crawl over a fence to reach the cache as they are logging or killing the pines. Left a Geocoin, so someone might want to retrieve it soon!
2/18/14 Whew ... had to wait for a big muggle in the form of a logging truck to be on its way! We liked this easy find!
Quick find on way to bag as many Rabbit Island caches as possible before the park closes. thanks
A nice quick find after the Event before leaving Rabbit Island for the journey home. Thanks for the cache

Found it but only after venturing into fenced off area marked no public access. Entry by permit only. Thanks anyway. CBE
Easy enough. Log soggy so added a new one in its own bag. Original still there. TFTChttp://www.geocaching.com/images/icons/icon_smile_cool.gif

On Rabbit Island for day 2 of the National MTB Orienteering Champs. I just had to get this cache as it was metres from where we drove into the forest. Took GC. TFTC.

FINALLY! We are the only ones to log a DNF here, and we have tried this on more than one occasion too! Today mr hunter walked straight up at found it in the first place he looked. Sure we have looked here before!! Great to have this one done now, TFTC!
A revisit to this one as had forgotten we had done it.But out with wacls on a beautiful day. TFTC
Found it but with the help of our mates for the day. I downloaded all the caches on Rabbit Island and when we arrived my GPS had no sites in it. Then the batteries went flat! so Toyota!!!@@@@###. It was a day of borrowing. One down
This one was a bit waterlogged. We put in one piece of paper in there, but water may get to it. We didn't have anything else to put in there to fix it.
In town for a wee holiday to catch up with Mr G's brother who's visiting from Oz. Came out to the Island hoping to pick up a few solved puzzles. Unprepared to get them (a further walk then anticipated) so made do with a couple Trads. Ew, is all I can say to this spot of info!
As per previous, cache/log needs a bit of maintenance - sorry I didn't have anything useful on hand. Cheers.

Found the cache easily enough, but the log book is now pulp and unfortunately we didn't have a spare log book with us.
Did our best to dry out what is there anyway, but it could do with a little TLC.

PS. Found a small piece of paper in the car and have left in cache as temporary log book. Also wrapped the wet bag and old log in napkin and dried out and cleaned the container as best as we could. Hope it helps a little until you can pop round to do proper maintenance. Wish we had hired some bikes to visit the whole island, will have to do the rest of the caches when we move here!
Was a bit Holy S$#%@T batman going on too....cache was FULL of water, not sure why.....and unable to sign log book. Other than that, thanks Belt family for another diversion on my MTB.
Found after a short search while walking and biking in the area this afternoon. This one was buried a bit below ground level and I missed it on the first pass. Signed log, TFTC!
Over for the day, specially to be part of the romantic Rabbit Island affair!!! We wanted to be able to celebrate 'The Engagement'[;D]. What better occasion for dealing to another of the 'undone' RI caches. On our way home, after the celebration. A quick stop, and another smiley to record. TFTC.
Found it during short walk around part of Rabbit Island in beautiful afternoon during Valentine's event. TFTC
Found while out doing a little Waitangi Day geocaching with Team RJ and others, that was until the loss of data capablity, battery power on the GPS and my forgetting my info notes led to an early cessation of activity...
A very satisfying quick find as I was a bit concerned that I may be just going through the motions. Thanks for showing me this interesting spot and TFTC
Holy Cr@p, we found it! Used the clue and in the first spot we chose, so all good! Kia ora for the cache beltfamily.
With use of the hint, had a good search but came out empty handed. No luck today!
Another puzzling disappearance adding to a working theory we have a little gremlin in our midst. I'm losing way too many caches all of a sudden . Will check this out when I'm over.
Last cache found on today's 21km cyclocache tour of Rabbit Island. Fortunately, no spraying was going on whilst I was out and about. Thanks for the cache.
I always find I learn so much when I come to log my finds, as I read the cache page and then figure out the significance of things like the title...very interesting project ! and pleased to learn the cache was indeed within the buffer zone.

Easy find. I had no internet so I had to wait until back home to log this one.
Greetings from the Netherlands.
Greetings from the Netherlands.
First find on rabbit island in the school holidays. A nice quick one. Had to hide for a moment when a log truck went by.
Found as part of a geocaching trip to and around Nelson. TFTC! Found on 28/8/2012 (but forgot to log the caches from this trip at the time!)
TFTC. My first on Rabbit Island. What a lovely recreational area for the locals. Similar to Burwood Forest in ChCh, but more ordered.
Muggled by a loggig truck driver stopping to tighten his load. Had to be a bit devious about putting it back.
Nice easy find on a wet day and very enjoyable, what with this been my 100th find!!! Here's looking forward to the next 100
Today our plan was to go on Rabbit Island : not too crowded at this time of the year ! Really nice ! The views could habe been better (lots of clouds) but we enjoyed the beach and the shells colllection ! Thank you for the cache / Merci pour la cache. Greetings from France !

A quick find as I head towards my 3000th find! Always love coming out here - TFTC
Decided to find a few caches whilst picnicing with the kids at Rabbit Island, quick find. TNLN. TFTC.
Muggles around on first pass but easy find on the rebound. Caching with Holymu. TFTC
An easy find on a caching afternoon with Hazedarus. First attempt had to be aborted when we discovered the gate was 'manned' due to firewood collection.
This was a very quick find, tho we managed to make it much harder for ourselves by not looking properly first time round. Found with NZLats. TFTC
