On a day trip to South Wairarapa to unlock adventure labs and make a dent in the Wheel of Challenges.I'm glad I didn't do this as my first find of the day as I would have had wet feet all day, instead of the last ten minutes. I missed the turn so ended up going the long way around the loop but eventually I got close and soon found the cache. Like others have found before, there's water in there so couldn't sign. Tipped it out for all the good it would do and replaced. A curious piwakawaka followed me out. TFTC Find #5533
It's Friday night and I am heading over the hill with TwigNZ for a weekend's caching in the Wairarapa. We still need a cache today for our streaks and I had checked out the phone earlier and decided to try a few of the archived caches on the way. One was no longer in place, but the other two were.
The other lonely cache was 7 years lonely yet right on the highway, which was a real surprise to me. This one is more like what I had expected - already found by a n archive hunter just a couple of years ago.Found the cache after a short hunt, but alas there was 2cm of water inside, everything was a sodden mess. So its photo log time.
Nice smooth road in the coming in side of the loop , but the going out side was full of pot holes! Trying to sucker us in?

I am spending this weekend in the Wairarapa, in the company of some great caching friends. Today I am driving over to Greytown in the company of the Seagnoid. We both want to find at least 1 cache for today, and he has 3 old archived caches targeted.
This was our last stop for this evening. The cache was an easy find in accordance with the Hint, but was found with a considerable level of water inside and as a consequence the logbook was completely unsignable. So we took photos and then replaced in such a way as to give the cache the best chance of not letting any more water in.
Only 2 years lonely, but a happy find nonetheless...
Thanks for placing this one all those years ago

#8434. Heading north today with Infoferret on a mission to clean up a series of skindo caches in the southern Hawkes Bay and to work on a few other geocaching concepts this weekend. Got away to a sedate start but eventually we were down at the bottom of the Rimutaka Hill. There were a few cars parked here when we arrived but the path to the cache was deserted. The container was soon located but was sitting a bit exposed. There was no logbook inside so have added a replacement log, signed it and replaced the cache as found but with some natural cover on top. Thanks skindo for the cache. Always wondered why there was no cache showing up as present in this reserve and now I know there has been one here for a while (still available for those who know how to find archived caches).
14 March 2020 11:37. Found with Barefootguru on a great day out in the Wairarapa. Cache was exactly where it should be, and BFG popped in a new logsheet. Tftc
On a skindo run with Infoferret… our first (joint) cache, and a nice patch of bush I’ve only driven past before. Thanks skindo!
Last cache for the day, the container was full of water and the logbook soaked. Tried to dry it as best as we could. Need some tender loving care
Nice and enjoyable walk through the bush although the recent rain had made the long grass quite wet. TFTC.
Cache was full of water and log book is doing a not so good impression of a sponge. Suggest moving GZ to a location that does not encourage the retention of a water. GZ will fill up with water everytime it rains. Nice walk though. TFTC
nice easy walk once you found there was a track hidden by waist high grass Easy find with Pooke
Cache full of water , as was bag that held log book and log its self totally soggy

#1234 Found during a 24 hour caching raid in the Wairarapa with Nic-jay- seeing how many we could find in 24 hours. Saw 3 Kereru in this reserve- two perching and one flying so will log those over at http://www.kererucount.org.nz/. Found the cache but it was saturated! Full of water. Lovely reserve- thanks for bringing us here.
Found while on a 24 caching roadie with Skaga through parts of the Waiarapa.
A lovely reserve and I enjoyed seeing the kereru here. A straightforward find but the log was too saturated to write on. TFTC

Cache # 1,555 - this family of cachers (including Violet Butterfly and Astro Hunter) stopped in the reserve to have an ice cream before venturing after the cache. Easy to spot the entrance from the top of the original lookout. Trails kept forking, and we made a wrong pick once, but soon had cache in hand in a nice spot. However, got bitten badly by very small flies, and on this summer's day was wearing shorts. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Did today with The Wandering Dragons and Violet Butterfly. I proudly walked the whole way myself on this one, even though some of the grasses were over my head. At the start some of the flowers were over Wandering Dragons' head, and they are tall!

Found today with Astro Hunter and Wandering Dragons. Had fun with this one, until WD asked us to hurry out as they were getting bitten by flies - which didn't bother those of us with long pants. TNLNSL. Thanks!

We parked in the Reserve on our way back to Upper Hutt from Masterton and first walked back up the road to find the Old Highway Relic cache, then searched for this one. After a few minutes Mrs B found the track in through the bush (the start is a bit overgrown) and the cache was then easily located and log book signed. Many thanks skindo for bringing us in here to find that the walking track existed. TNLN TFTC
GrimRaider stopped off here to stretch our legs on our drive from Napier to Wellington. A great cache stop coz we did get to go for a bit of a walk along that track. The gps was a bit jumpy under all the trees but we made our way to gz and soon had the LBS. G took the army man and we left a critter. TFTC nice one!
A nice walk through the bush to get this one. The last of a day around the Featherston area. TFTC
The last time I was here, the wind was blowing at force 10. Today, no wind and I was grateful to have some shade and made my way along the track. Found the cache safe & sound. TFTC
Quick find at GZ just before the night falls!
Thanks for the cache!

A spot of Anzac Day caching. Nothing better. This en route to Martinborough.
Cache find was straightforward, cache in order; log signed, safely re-hidden, just as found.

Day 7 of the trip home to Christchurch, Martinborough to Blenheim. A quiet reserve with some nice tracks arouond it. Thanks for the hide.
Found at 10:28 AM GAFF1 in the company of Phetlern. Stopped here for lunch. It appears that nearly all of the place names in NZ have been changed to names that we can hardly pronounce - why so many vowels and repeated syllables?
Thanks skindo

Wellington's wet and windy weather forced us along with Pprass to change our plans and head northward in search of blue skies. We are sure the trail would be a much more pleasant place on a warmer, less windy day.
TNLN . . SL . . Thanks for the hunt skindo.

Felt like I was on a sheep track when the cache was getting near, nice spot.
We over shot the walking track to the cache but all was good as I spotted a Banana Passion Fruit vine with ripe fruit on it, BONUS.

Found a bit of an unorthodox way to this cache but did enjoy the wander through the reserve. Noticed the huge sign and carpark on the way back over the hills the next day doh! TFTC #3820
We went around in circles a little at first and then spotted a promising geotrail. Looks like someone else has been here recently from the trampled grass. Cache a little damp but good. Two tbs visited.
Quick find, and our final stand of "bush" for the day. Another "great" tree.

Thought we were heading the wrong way to start with but all worked out OK in the end. Quick find - TFTC
An early morning walk in the long wet grass as I headed over the hill to church in Upper Hutt. TFTC
Out for another adventure in skindoland which incuded a loop of the lake as well as a mystery tour. I missed the track in the dark so ended up going cross country to the cache. While this put me in position for a fairly quick find it also left me with wet feet early in my outing. TFTC
Driven past many times, so it was about time we stopped and looked for this cache. Pity about the weeds that seem to be taking over the reserve.
My Oregon was having trouble under the trees, but StreetWalker's GPSr took him straight to the cache.

Found this cache with Kiwi Explorer on a most enjoyable and productive three day caching raid in the Wairarapa. Apologies in advance for the rather template state of this log. We found over 200 caches in our visit which has left me with rather vague and blurred memories of some of them. Anything that really stood out will get a special mention. This was going to be one of the first caches we visited here but it turned out to be the last one we went to before heading back up and over the hills. Many thanks to the cache placers of the district for making our weekend such a memorable one. TFTC, Biggles.
Found while touring the district with Biggles. Nice reserve and cache. Thanks.
Getting late evening by the time we reached Otauira Reserve, but not too late for a short bush walk. Looks to be an interesting area for "the young people" to play and explore. Thanks.

GPS seemed ot be all over the place but got it in the likely spot. The last for today.
Nearly on the way home, but another stop required. The fight with the weeds in this reserve is on, but its good to see some new planting. TFTC
Last cache in the Wairarapa before heading back over the hill to The Hutt, dropped off some geocoins TFTC
Looked around the wrong tree initially, but that's all part of the hunt. A nice spot of wilderness.
Nice spot for a stroll, overshot cache and had to wait for GPS to settle. Soon had cache in hand after that. SL TFTC.
A short holiday with my wife to this wonderful land NZ over from Australia to do some sightseeing and to catch with my mate Dunko who has been moved over here for work. We plan to do the crossing many times, enjoyed doing the cache. Thanks for the cache, made our mark..
Slink1 and co came over from Australia to do some sightseeing and to cache. A trip to the burbs was in order. Slink1 reckons he'll be back for more. Thanks for the cache made our mark..
Overshot the turn off on the way down from the hill so had to swing back. Nice and quiet here this afternoon and enjoyed the nice little walk through to the cache. TFTC!
A very windy, cold day. Didn't get much shelter in the trees either. Left a pet rock - a panda. TFTC
Few caches on the way home from the 'Rappa - nice spot. Thanks. Right clue - right cache this time... easy when you know how !
Driven past here so many times - thanks for making us stop this time. Drizzle caching... Nice spot. TFTC Felix!
3:02 PM Great spot on our way back to Wellington. Time for a quick walk and find a cache. Cache was pretty exposed when we found it. So hid a little better.
Took nothing Left Yellow Jeep TB. Thanks for the cache.
Logged in Nelson and Boo for the mileage...
