15:53Heading eastward after a week or so in SA, this is one of the caches, the GPS automatically set on a course via as many cache stops as possible. After an extended search, the cache was soon in hand, fortunately no snakes about. Our thanks to 'tackle_head' for adding this cache to the.geo-gameboard.37899*This log composed and published using Geocaching Swiss Army Knife (GSAK).*
Another stop on the travels through desert area. Will have to return for the walk but would be an amazing spot for camping. Thanks tackle_head for the cache.Found at 11:05am on 28/12/2023. Find # 2719
A quick find with frmen1. Such a lovely spot (another place that we wouldn't know about without geocaching). TFTC
Found with tassie expat while visiting the park.

A nice first for this area, be a great little spot to camp. Thanks for bringing us out here by placing the cache
Out of an Christmas break with sir_spectre, exploring southern Victoria grabbing lots of smilies, finding caches in LGA's and of course signing a few more challenges.
Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.
Thanks for placing this cache for us to find.
We must be tired, that took longer than it should. Stopped by while heading to the nearby 2001 cache. Stopped to get a cache or five in a new LGA.
Left with Mogni the day before Christmas to go down to Mount Gambier for Christmas Day. Then on the 27th left for Victoria. Plan A was to go to the Ottway Rangers, complete the Geo tour in Ballarat and then head to Geelong and take the Queenscliff ferry over to Sorrento then grabbing new LGA's on route to almost the New South Wales/Victoria border and the old 2001 cache near there. Also attending a community day event, a CITO and a couple of other events as well. Then head in to the high country and come back to SA in 11 days. Things didn't go to plan. Turns out that one of my almost new tyres was defective ( side wall blown out ) and blew in the ottway ranges on a narrow road in the rainforest, Drove to Melton to stay overnight and get a new tyre there, tyre machine broken and the other 5 tyre companies not open so off to geelong for a new tyre ( and some caches on the way and in geelong ) . The event we where going to attend in geelong didn't turn out, he was late by ALOT to his own event. Then to ballarat to same day since we had a b&b booked for the next few nights. Planned on getting the ferry at 1200 and ended up on the 400 pm ferry but we did attend a event and CITO in geelong. Then we drive into the rear end of a thunder storm with forecast 20 mm dropping for the next few days. Cancel the high country and change targets to letterbox D/T for fizzy grid only using letterboxes and same wirh the multi fizzy grid plus fizzy grid only using victorian caches plus any challenge caches we where near. Plus getting a few more victorian 2001 caches. And finally any caches that had 40 more more favourite points. Only got soaked to the bone for a couple of days but the water on the tracks was noticeable. On the return home tried to get the rest of the missing LGA's around the Melbourne CBD i missed in the last mega. Still a fun trip was had if not the planned one.

*Cache find # 13693.*
After an overnight stay at the nearby campground with a couple of celebration events, it was now time to find a few other caches in the area.
This one took a bit longer than it should have to find but I got there in the end.
**Thanks to nom234 for placing this cache.**

There were a group of us camping just down the road a little so we came up to look for this cache en masse. We all looked in a different area but thanks has to go to Gemma Sistema for making the find. It is a lovely nature walk just a shame that there was no literature available to tell us about the area and what we were looking at and for. Thanks for placing this cache and bringing us here.
It was time for a break and the chance to sneak away to my second “The Tritonz’ desert trip was too good an opportunity to pass up.
After arriving the night before, a group of us set off for a small drive through the desert. We stopped in at this spot to find the cache, but enjoyed the nature walk while we were here.
Thanks nom234 for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

Found on a weekend geocaching camping adventure at Kiata. Lovely little spot here. Enjoyed the walk around too. Thanks for the cache
We spent a wonderful weekend camping out at the Kiata campground, celebrating geocaching with great friends. The weather was kind to us and the weekend was full of fun and laughter. Before tea a group of us not only found this cache, but enjoyed the nature walk while we were here. Thank you nom234 for the cache and for highlighting this lovely picnic area with great facilities and this beautiful nature walk.
We were waiting for the start of The_Tritonz community event and being well and truly set up for the night we ventured off with quite a few other teams to try our luck at this one.
We all followed the GPS's towards gz and it was amazing how everyone started on a different area with GemmaSistema being the first to locate the cache. The attaching mechanism seems to have gone but it was still nicely hidden. Once we all added our names to the log we all headed off for a very pleasant walk in the afternoon sun, only wishing there was some printed documents left as we all would have liked to know what the numbers along the track were there to showcase.
Many thanks for the cache and for showing us this great area nom234

This morning we headed out here to find the caches in the Little Desert after camping at the Kiata campground, on our way back we had time to look for a few more.
Called in here to do the walk after being in the car most of the day. Enjoyed the walk and seeing the Mallefowl mound. Once back we went in search of the cache, took a bit to find but eventually spotted.

A nice spot. Found the cache out in the open, far lower down than the hint suggested so replaced it in the obvious spot. TFTC

TFTC very nice secluded area, was camping in Little Desert ducked in here for a quick search & find.
Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the Mega event.
FeatherWaite, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday, taking a circuitous, but scenic route to St Arnaud to pick up a few caches in some other Victorian LGAs. We met up with Freddo and Davidwazza at the event that evening and teamed up to complete a couple more caches that night together before camping out of town.
Over the next three days we cached very solidly in and around St Arnaud, finding a diverse range of Traditional, Multi, Unknown, Virtual, Letterbox, Wherigo and Earthcaches as well as attending all the events associated with the Mega. We also managed to complete all the Lab caches over the weekend. Logbooks were signed D.E.F.F.98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo and gridge98).
On the Sunday afternoon, after the final GIFF event, FeatherWaite and I began making our way back to Adelaide, picking up a couple of caches before camping in the Little Desert NP. The following day we grabbed some nearby caches then continued towards home with a side visit to Mount Rescue to pick up a few caches along the tracks there.
Thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches. They included a huge variety of containers, hides and puzzles, many of which were very clever or amusing and had obviously taken considerable time and effort to construct. Thanks also to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. I’ll be looking forward to the Mega at Millicent in South Australia next Easter!

Found as part of our trip to the St Arnaud Mega event. On Day 1, e.gregory1, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday morning, straight after the Earlybirds event in North Adelaide. We travelled a long and circuitous route via Bordertown, Nhil and Warracknabeal to find caches in 5 additional Victorian LGAs that I had yet to visit (namely Buloke, Loddon, [Greater Bendigo - I’d previously visited], Mt Alexander, Hepburn and Central Goldfields). On Days 2-4 we met up with Freddo and Davidwazza. As a group we systematically completed each of the many series around St Arnaud and found all other caches along the way, signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, Featherwaite and gridge98), as well as attending the events and completing the Lab caches. After the Mega, e.gregory1 and I headed back to Adelaide camping out in Little Desert NP overnight. On Day 5 we had intended picking up caches around Mundulla and Mount Monster but a last minute change of plans saw us head into Ngarkat CP instead, for a solid drive and a few extra rewarding cache finds. Many thanks to all the cache owners for placing the huge variety of caches around St Arnaud and to all those who organised the Mega and the fantastic weekend away. Thanks for the cache nom234!
Found early morning while in the area. Signed log and returned as found. Then a walk around the trail. With 0 degrees this morning no wiggly things, just a wallaby and birds.TFTC
Leaving my stop over in Dimbolla and doing a few around the area before heading west to find a few more.
Still heading west and called in to this great little nature park that has plenty of facilities for being way out here.
Did the walk first then soon located the cache.
A nice day but luckily no snakes were seen.
Thanks nom234 TFTC.

Took a detour off the Main Road to take a break on my way to the Parkville Mega...
A nice spot though quite dry...
Took a while and a PAF to find it...I was too high then I was too low...
I really don't know how I missed it but was very glad to finally see it...

Day 1 of our epic 12 day / 10 night trek to the Parkville Mega in Melbourne.
The constant was my travel companions for the entire trip, - Anymules and S.A. Sewer Rats but we were joined by almost local cacher Bushfire for a lot of the escapades So to save space in the logs we usually just wrote our initials BABS to save space. As we met and cached with other teams along the way more and more initials were added.
But today it was a the case of making our way towards out first stop in Ballarat caching along the way.[:o)]
Having made this trip several time before the others already had a few finds under their belts but I decided to make a detour so I could notch up at least one for the day! [8)] In fact had to make quite a detour out to here just so I could. Appropriately I made a quick find in the first place I looked.

When you've exhausted your local supply of DT stars, what is there to do?
You do what any good Viking would do - prepare your ship and go plunder the DT stars which are so abundant in neighbouring states!
So it transpired that this weekend the honourable Vikings Tritonz, Jacko, Quasar, SedgwickDave, AHomburg and Pacman set off from Melbourne and embarked on the 'Adelaide DT Raid'.
And what an adventure-filled boy's weekend it was - with a full complement of kit including ladders, kayaks, 4WDs, torches and climbing gear no GZ and no cache was out of bounds on this expedition. There were no earthcaches, no PTs, no number chasing - we were just reaching for the brighter stars. We returned home 4 days later with an amazing haul of stars and smilies.
Thanks to all the COs who contributed to the fun.

Day 1.
Just before lunch this was our last stop in Victoria before crossing the border. This Little Desert is a special place - a unique combination of desert sand and bushland.
The key to finding this cache was to look for some shelter .

A major diversion to find this cache as we wanted to find a cache in SA and VIC today. This was the closest one that neither of us had found. Worth a stop at! Our last cache of the trip
Found with FUF009.
Day 8 and final day of our huge SA week cache grab.
Today I found 76 caches making the grand total for the 8 days a whopping 1403 finds!
Today we left our accommodation in Adelaide and headed to the May OTD series and the Geopets series plus assorted other nearby caches while heading back to St Arnaud.
This whole trip has been fantastic. Great weather, great company, awesome accommodation, tasty food and fantastic surroundings. SA has it all. Good thing I'll be back in 2 weeks!! I'm sure I'll be suffering from withdrawals.
Apologies for the generic log. If any cache needed attention it will say so at the start of my log.

Day 8
The time has come and the end is here for our big South Australian trip. We heading home back to "Mexico land" via OTD May and The Geopets series.
Many of sharkiefan and my records were broken on this trip, don't think we could have done that in Vic, but we will be back in 2 weeks, we gunna be back for a short weekend to grab another 100 or 2 from the SA map.
Found with sharkiefan
A Big week was planned to travel around South Australia, staying in Minlaton, Tarlee and Adelaide. We cache along a number of Trails, managed to grab a few off the beaten track, some well known caches and the odd one that
came up on the map as we were travelling around.
It ended up being a massive week of 2960 odd kilometers travelled, with day find counts of 25, 256, 361, 318, 66, 205, 106 and 76 (yep thats 1413 for the 8 days)
My first cache on this trip was a Vic one. It was only fitting to finish off the long week with my only cache, close to the hwy, between StArnaud and the SA border.

Leaving our accommodation in Nhill we headed towards The Little Desert to explore a little area we hadn't visited before using the caches to show us the sights. The weather was very blustery and the rain was getting heavier on our approach. Lucky this one was under shelter as we made our search. The cache was located quickly and signed before heading back to the car out of the rain.

We'd actually been here over the weekend on a field naturalists trip not realising there was a cache here. On our first visit we saw a lace monitor up a tree. There were many choughs swooping at it . We wondered why and then noticed there was a nest close by. A mother patiently sitting on her eggs. When we came back today the eggs had hatched and we spent some time watching the birds feeding their young. No sign of the lace monitor and the birds much happier. So we were very grateful for the cache nom234! Didn't see a malleefowl though
Back in Kaniva with for the weekend. So out for a day geocaching - this time to gather some smilies on caches that I have not done and unfortunately for Muff1 they have done them all. She acted as navigator for me.
Found this one laying on the ground. Logged and put into a place more secure. The cache is in good order with still plenty of room left on the log. SL. TNLN, TFTC.

Staying nearby and enjoying the NP, today the nature walk showed us many echina digs for food. Spring flowers are just about to burst open. Saw an unusual bird nest near the picnic shelter, high in the tree. Many birds scrabbling over who was allowed to sit in it. Feathers flying everywhere. Thanks nom234 for adding to our visit here.
Unfortunately I didn't have time for the full walk, but enjoyed this little picnic area.

This is the cache we turned into a 5 star terrain effort! LOL
What an amazing 3 days spent with Locus Cache whilst on a girls caching trip!
We travelled from Adelaide to the lovely St Arnaud area to enjoy a weekend of fantastic events whilst finding a number of caches on the journey, in some spectacular locations...ohhh...and at times the conversations were so amusing we just couldn't stop laughing!! haha [:o)]
Some of the stand out moments included driving into the Little Desert National Park and turning a 1.5*T into a 5*Terrain! So instead of being there for a 30 minute cache, we went on a 3 hour unexpected adventure!!
We saw kangaroos, emus, lots of birds and a whole heap of water due to recent heavy rains.
On the Saturday we spent all day with the gorgeous micaparamedic...LOL...and we not only found some awesome caches, but we literally BOUNCED all around Kaye's car -Harry- as we ventured on the many bush tracks...we even had conversations about all sorts of fruit - pineapples, blueberries and cherry tomatoes to be precise!
All in all we attended 4 wonderful events this weekend, 3 in St Arnaud and even made it back in time to attend one of Freddo's very cool events in SA - GEOCACHING ROCKS!!! [:X]
Thanks for the cache nom234!

Found while having a cuppa after our club walk through desert. Just thought I'd check to see if there was a cache here. Surprised to find one 2 meters from where I was standing. Duntulums geowife also logged it on behalf of him.
As this was close to the old cache nearby we pulled in. The hint meant one thing to us and it was not long before we made the find. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC.
This cache was found during a weekend adventure of caching, exploring and 4WD'ving with my two boys. We spent much of the weekend in and around the Little Desert National Park where we had an absolute ball. We spent the day before cruising the LDNP with Jacko83 and Timmo98 but today it was just me and my boys. We spent the night in Kiata Campground, which we had to ourselves. After we had some brekky and a wash up, we packed up camp before I gave the boys some driving lessons around the campground, which they thought was fantastic. It was time to hit the road again and start heading east for home.
Our first cache for the day, not too far from the campground. A bit of a search and we had the cache. Thanks for the hide nom234.

Called in and replaced container. Old log was damaged and very sticky!?! So I decided to replace the whole thing. Think I will scan the sticky pages and upload them here. It is always nice to keep the log intact, but it really was too gooey for anyone to want to handle it..
Grand final long weekend and today we are touring around small towns
Super hot weather with a yucky hot wind, still grateful for all the places caching take us
Met a lovely lady on the hunt for orchids

What else do geocachers do when having a weekend away geocaching[?]
Take some friends and make it a darned good weekend!
Moneydork, Tounga, Sushilord, Uni & Medusa, Skippy & Audra and myself headed to Ballarat and we had a blast!
Enjoyed tea with some local geocachers on Saturday night: Sully1, Bogong Hazy and Snaphappy [^]
Kayaked on Sunday and then rode pushbikes too
The things we do for geocache finds, I haven't been on a bike for years!
All up, I found 113 caches and had 4 DNFs
We even managed to find some that we had DNFd last time!
I apologise now for the generic logs on these caches. I am unexpectedly heading back to the area now, about 5 weeks later, and am madly logging so that I know what I have and haven't found.
Please understand that due to some issues this end, I have been short on time and therefore haven't logged these as I would normally do, with a seperate comment for each cache.
I thank each and every cache owner for the wonderful caches which we found in the suburbs and in the bush!

On the way to this cache I spotted my first mallefowl. How fantastic. As we have never spent much time in Victoria we have never been in a position to spot one before. TNLN TFTC

Today Spladem and I packed up our little tent village at the Oz Mega in Murray Bridge and started to head towards home. It was quite a long drive so it was decided we would break it up a bit as cachers normally do and pick up a few select caches on the way through, as well as picking up the information needed for the Multi "A River Somewhere".
Decided on a bit of a detour to this one, there was a hord of semi-muggles at the picnic table nearby, we explained to them what we were doing and one or two of them knew what it was about but did not know there was one here.
Thanks to nom234 for the hide.

On our way to the OzMega in Murray Bridge picking up a few caches on the way. We thank the many cache owners for putting out and maintaing these caches for our pleasure. There have been challenges as well as simple drive byes to break the journey, there have been a few DNF's also.
Apologies for the generic log but we plan to do quite a few logs in the next few days.
This proved to be a nice easy find
cheers

This place would make camp spot in the cooler months. It's to hot today for it though. TFTC
Quick find while on my way to Kiata Campground for a weekend of good times driving around the Little Desert in 4WD. Great spot for a hide. This place was once all that was going to be left as a refuge for the Malleefowl. Fortunately common sense prevailed and the Little Desert NP was created.

Great diversion from the long commute.
Useless iPhone gave me the wrong spot initially, but once I found it iPhone told me I was in exactly the right spot. I must get back to using the proper GPS.
