GONE!!!
Had a look for it, well actually a grid search and the cache was not located.
Even Grobyc who had found it many times previously couldnt find it.
The lake level has been right up through here and suspect it has floated off.

Indeed it has gone, I have found and maintained this cache 6 times and it is nowhere to be seen
We found this cache, but it need a lot of time to find it.
The Cache is really wet. We canĀ“t write in the logbook, so we made a photo.

A wet, wet, wet day... We came back to our van thoroughly soaked!
A good, sneaky hiding place.
We enjoyed the hunt and would recommend others wear trousers - the path is quite overgrown and prickly!

Clues are spot on for this one. GPS out just a little. Found by Mike. All the way from Greymouth to find this one!

Lovely looking lakes and camping ground, nice stroll, the track is a bit overgrown but well worth the effort. TNLN TFTC.
Cache was damp inside and didn't have anything to dry it with, so tipped out the water and cleaned it up as best as we could.
The log book is OK, and we added some silica gel to the log bag.
Not a muggle in sight, all the campers had packed up and gone home by this time.

A great place to hide a cache. We went there after having been away for over 25 years. It is still as beautiful. Easy find once we had taken the pleasant stroll along the slightly overgrown track. Our wee Banjo hurdling the undergrowth. One almost needed a slasher in places, but it was still enjoyable to walk the track. The cache is very damp in the plastic container and needs a bit of maintainence. However, we cleaned as best we could and put the small items inside a plastic zipper bag. The log book was reasonably dry. Enough to sign anyway. In....Whistle and Yoyo Out....Bottle Opener. TFTC
Found at dusk. Arrived at the campsite, set up the tent, ate quick dinner and ran to this cache! We're glad to find it. Very peaceful tonight here. No swaps.
Rode Xena up to Kai-Iwi Lakes with TechnoKitten riding shotgun and towing Argo.. Xena's packhorse loaded with tents and gear.
We looked at the big camp ground first but it was so crowded we decided to head for the smaller one.
We parked on road and walked to this cache first...
Nice lake teeming with fish and life.
GPS took us close and TK soon had cache in hand. Contents were a bit damp. TK signed the cache and we left calling cards.

On another wonderful caching camping adventure with XenaCommander. All aboard Xena and towing Argo, Xenas new UniGo trailer...... Splat now thankfully relegated to commuting and short distance caching.
THe main campsite was a bit busy for us so we trundled off to the other one, stopping at this one on the way. There was some fascinating plant life along the track and the warm lake edges were teeming with tiny fish.
Cache was an easy find, very damp, needs new container soon. Removed rusted pliers and rotting batteries.
In waterproof lion and dragonfly .
Thanks for bringing us here... would have ridden on by were it not for your cache.

Was over this side, so decided to retrieve the coin and move it on to Whangarei. Nice walk (once I found the path) and a quick find. The hills behind look decidely naked now they have been logged, but the cache is unaffected. TFTC.
Not many caches on this side of Northland, so pleased to fit this one in to our travels. This was a rushed find with falling darkness and a pending dinner booking to beat! TNLN
11.50am. Hadn't been here for years - not since camping when the family was young. Bit windy and squawlly today but warm enough when the sun was out. Introduced our friends from New Caledonia to geocaching on this one and Kai Iwi #2. Straightforward find.
- Beach ball & glitter pens
+ Japanese bottle opener and toy car
Also left a US Geocoin to move on.

Interesting way to discover parts of New Zealand and to get caught by the geocaching game. This was our first cache while on holiday in New Zealand.

Found it just before sunset on a nice still warm evening. There were lots of people swimming in the adjacent lake which isn't bad for mid April! Thanks

The family had exhausted their enthusiasm finding Kai Iwi 2 so I did this alone.
No earlier logs mention it but I guess there were pine trees along the trck when the cache was placed and now its cut over rubbish. Pity.
I guess not too many walk the track as it is getting quite overgrown. An easy find once I penetrated the screening scrub.

[Checked into the campground for the night and discovered that we'd left the poles at home- never mind, there was a handy tree to hang the tent inner from.
Had a lovely sunny walk to the cache area and needed to use the clue as the batteries on the gps were dead.
TIP:] Don't wear just togs!!!
[
- sunblock (THANK YOU!!!) & cd-rom
+ Sparkle gel pens]

Found cache easily after finding finding 'Kai Iwi cache #2'. Found without using any of the clues. A nice walk along a lovely lake.
Log page needs more space.

We found this cache after a short walk along the lake. It was guarded by some birds, which where disturbed by us.
Everything in the cache was a bit wet, so we dried it as good as possible.
The sheet for the logs is completely filled. Peejay, you should add a new logbook to the cache.
Thanks for hiding it.

Out : Toothpick flags & Betti Spagetti
In : NZ Windsock & Keyring
..ooOO ( either it's been raining lots up there, or the tide was in

Refer to Kai Iwi 2 for weather report. Easier find than Kai Iwi 2 - no pine needles to rummage through. Had a strange encounter with a frog on the way to the cache - I hope Hairy Little Dwarf puts the picture in his cache report!. Took nothing, left Star Wars 50 piece jigsaw puzzle (Mace Windu) - a companion puzzle to Kai Iwi 2. My first time at Kai Iwi - thanks for the incentive to go and visit.
A lovely day out & a nice quick find. Amusing close encounter with a taniwha along the path, but he decided we weren't worth dragging into the lake.
-Sunglasses (Aah, the relief!)
+ Music CD
Left troll to guard the cache until the next visitor.

Lovely walk around the lake .Left the sunscreen just in case the sun comes out one day. Took the Easter Chicken candle.
Nice stroll in the woods, and definitely somewhere we never would have discovered if it weren't for the cache. This was our 2nd NZ cache, we're on vacation from Toronto, Canada.
Took nothing, left a Canadian nickel. Thanks for the cache!

(we would have done the other one but it started to pour)
