Area is extremely flood prone at the moment. Will have to reconsider a different sort of hide. These are wet times.

14-Feb-12
Will check it out soon.

12-Feb-12
First the gps sent me to the town side of the creek. As I got closer to the creek the gps pointed me to the other side. When I walked over their I was directed back again. A read of previous cache logs confirmed I needed to be further south. I spent quite some time checking possible hiding spots over a large area before conceding defeat.

There were a couple of obvious spots but no cache. A large amount rubbish has been dumped in the creek close to one of the possible spots. The other one looks like it has been scraped out recently. Probably worth a check next time you head to Shepp.

Thanks anyway Blacklegend.

12-Feb-12
Searched the area extensively and was unable to come up with the goods, followed other people's advice for coordinates and still no luck Sad

10-Feb-12
searched and searched, found where i thought it would be but alas no find, GPS going crazy all over the place, will return for another look when out and about again

29-Jan-12
A not so easy find, for 38 degSth and I, as co ords had us looking in a different spot approx 25m away. Have to admit in this instance it was only because of the hint, that the find was made. TFTC once again Blacklegend

I'd have to agree with previous finder 'scody', we too found the cache approx 25m south of posted co-ords. It was only the clue that really kept us 'in the hunt' for this one. Thanks again Blacklegend, great to find a cache in Wunghnu! Regards, 38degsth -Melb, Vic.

21-Jan-12
Glad to grab a cache in Wunghnu after missing out on its predecessor.

Co-ords took us to the waters edge which is not consistent with a kid friendly designation. Extended the search and after a while jcody found it about 23m south.

21-Jan-12
Locals dropping by for swim, but not too dificult to locate.

03-Jan-12
Found and logged... We saw someone else parked near GZ and walking across the bridge but when found log was unsigned. Took a bit to find as GPS had us a fair way from it and wandering all over the place. A search of the area soon had the little tacker in hand ... TFTC Blacklegend

28-Dec-11
All ready to go again. Cheers and sorry for the wait.

27-Dec-11
Cache is ready to go pending a Reviewer adjustment of coordinates. As it is a new hide in a fair distance from the original, if you have already logged it, you may log another find on this one.

New hint and updated container description.

S 36° 09.132 E 145° 25.877

Not very far away...

Had a quick squiz on the way through to Strathy yesterday but too many Muggles about. (School hols and all that.)
Returned today with a mirror and torch for a more intimate search in MOPs. No luck.
Maybe I was thinking Orc thoughts rather than Troll?

07-Oct-11
Muggled. Will replace soon.

Found in the company of the lovely fiance (chauffeur extraordinaire).
He stayed in the car whilst I went and made the find.
By the time we arrived, it was dark and the torches needed to come out.
Not much water here today. I wonder if the recent rain have had any impact here.
Thanks again Blacklegend.

04-Feb-11
A great stopover that we should have made before; we've been travelling past here for many many years and never stopped! Well we found the cache in an idyllic location, TNLN and then went over to check out the WATER BUFFALO....Yes folks! A REAL WATER BUFFALO!!!! A truck driver's wife was with her hubby, having a brief pause and she noticed us staring at said Buffalo and came up and also said she'd never stopped here either and couldn't believe her eyes either! A town called Wunghu (One Ewe) you sorta expect a sheep, but a Buffalo? Anyway, we went into the store there to find an amazing array of food, artworks, wood fired pizza oven and THE BEST VANILLA SLICES I've ever had! We read the sign proclaiming their excellence and can confirm it's all true and you get a Buffalo to check out too! How good is Wunghnu?! TFTC!

24-Jan-11
A straightforward find.
Good Clues
Good Coords
Geo wife called out 'look out' and I spun around expecting a crocodile or at least a big snake.
(We are from Qld and have worked in NT so was really expecting something really big and scarey.)
Was actually being attacked by maneating mozzies.
Not one, not one squadron, but millions and zillions of really hungry mozzies.
I thought they did not like running water?
Signed log and got out really fast

We spent the night (and the rest of the weekend) at a B&B in Wunghnu and we had 70mm of rain last night they tell me. This was an easy find, but made all that harder because the park was being used as a pit stop for the cyclists. Still managed the find and the log. The owners of the B&B asked that old question, "What do you do to amuse yourselves" and we replied "Suppose you have never heard of geocaching?". Normally you get a blank stare but you could have knocked us over with a feather when they said they had been geocaching with other family members. Thanks for the cache blacklegend.

24-Oct-10
First find of many for a big caching day with Team Rubik. Didn't take to long to locate, replaced just as the council worker rocked up to begin his day.
Thanx Blacklegend17 for showing me this nice park

The laptop had had a bit of a fit and ignored a whole lot of caches on the route, so we fixed it up and this one appeared just close by. Neat.... A nice little spot, cool and peaceful and I was pleased to stretch the legs already. Cache quickly found, signed, and returned.

Thanks again blacklegend... A great weekend for us, so many thanks indeed.

24-Oct-10
I finally got around to finding my closest cache to home! Kamikaze Cacher and I were on the way to today's event and decided that we would make a detour via Wunghu to see the sights. Despite driving though here a number of times I've never actually stopped. A friend is the Principal at the school here and it good to finally see his place of work nearby.

Many thanks for giving me cause to finally stop here!

Found while out to the 10th anniversay of Melbournes first cache, another trip with Blacklegend 17.

02-Oct-10
Found @ 0910.

Found whilst driving up to Cobram for the weekend. I used to play football for Yarroweyah in the Picola & District League. We were playing Wunghnu one day here at Wunghnu, when their coach spoke to our coach and told him that he was one man short. I was an emergency for Yarroweyah that day, so I was expecting to be the scoreboard operator. However, I ended up playing for Wunghnu that day! They still lost badly. Smile

20-Sep-10
I was glad to finally have an excuse to stop here. Drove past this spot many times in my younger years. Cache was easy to find as it had slipped down into clear view as the container had detached from the magnet. Replaced as best I could.

[438] Midday.
Quick easy find after having visited shortly after it was posted but on that occasion there were about 3 caravans with people exercising their dogs adjacent to and over the cache.
TFTC and it has obviously survived the rain/floods.
Cheers

Micheena - Not many caches are found without using the GPS. Pass by here many times, and it's great to see the creek so full, (even if it's due to the flooding). TNLTB (thought the one ewe could use one shoe. Ha Ha).

Found towards the end of a fantastic day out with Lostmonster & Co and Kiara001 (or part of ).
Lostmonster & Co had of course already been out to this one at like 2am one morning LOL, but Kiara001 and I needed to find this cache to add to our finds!

I saw this one pop up in the wee hours of the morning whilst I was having breakfast and getting reading for work. As luck would have it I had booked a few things to do in Numurkah for the day and it would have been rude of me not to have a look at this one on the way through town. I don't mind stopping in Wunghnu as it has the second best vanilla slices in the world at "Eddies". Tatura bakery has the best vanilla slices by the way. If you do stop by Eddies also try out the buffalo salami (low fat content) and also the buffalo cheese (not sure about the fat content on that).
I was being lazy and trusted the cache description to guide me where the cache. Even was so bold to leave the GPS at home. Truth be known I scouted this same spot a whilst back for a similar hide but didn't follow through with it. I am glad that blacklegend did as it is a pretty spot at the moment.
Although not always successful Wunghnu is very proud of it's football and netball club, nicknamed the Magpies, is an Australian Rules Football club playing in the Picola & District Football League. Players from the club recruited to play in the VFL/AFL include Geelong Football Club 1937 premiership player Joe Sellwood.
I have some included some interesting information that I have collected in relation to Wunghnu over the past year or so. Don't ask why, it's just something that I do Smile.
TFTC.
